If we are very lucky, and Barack is very skillful, history will look back at this time and call it the Great Recession. If we are not, it may be labeled the Great Depression 2. FDR had to wait 3.5 years before he could begin to address the results of the Crash of 1929. Barack gets his chance about six months after credit froze due to toxic mortgages. FDR only had the Great Depression to deal with. Barack must deal with the economy, wars in Afghanistan and Iraq, global warming, OPEC, health care reform and many other issues, all at the same time.
To help him, we must be interested, active and informed. In the past, we trusted our democracy and our economy to political hacks. Never again. We must demand the information we need from the news media. They are there to help us make wise decisions, not to increase profits through news that generates ad revenue.
