I ran into a new charge against Barack recently. that he is a Marxist. It looked like a laundry list of guilt by association. I was instructed by the author to read Marx and at this time I do not have the time. Can any reader of this blog respond by posting a comment that the rest of us can use to respond to this charge? Your help will be greatly appreciated.

THESE PEOPLE DON'T WANT ANY KIND OF SUPERVISION...BECAUSE IT'S EASIER 'TO TAKE' WHEN NOONE IS LOOKING. FOR THE PAST SEVERAL YEARS....THIS HAS BEEN HAPPENING AND THEN THE FINANCIAL WHEEL BROKE...WE ARE ALL FAMILIAR WITH OUR ECONOMIC CRISIS. PRESIDENT OBAMA DOES NOT WANT CONTROL OF ANY BUSINESS...FOR NOW REGULATION IS NECESSARY BECAUSE OF PREVIOUS MISTAKES. SHORT AND SWEET...THE WORMS IN THE CAN DON'T LIKE THE SUNLIGHT! I know this is not very helpful, but it seems to me that the burden of proof is on the accuser. There is no credible evidence that Barack Obama is a Marxist, unless the accuser can provide some evidence to back up the charge. By all indications, Obama is a believer in the capitalist system and generally free markets.

Sure, he might favor a more progressive tax structure (where high income people pay a higher percentage of their income to taxes than lower income people do) than what would be advocated by the editorial writers of the Wall Street Journal. However, that is hardly Marxist, although some alarmists on the right might make that leap of logic. Having a "pay czar" to review bonus payments to banks and large companies that were bailed out by Uncle Sam might lead some critics to use the "M" word to describe Obama. Again, there is no merit to such a charge, especially since it only applies to companies that took large loans from the government and have, so far, not paid it back. Even if there is a complete government takeover of the healthcare system (which Obama has never advocated), the Marxist label is still inappropriate. Other Western industrial democracies have government-run healthcare, which does not interfere with what are otherwise generally free enterprise systems.

Calling Obama a Marxist is like calling Bush a fascist. In both cases, the name calling says much more about the accuser than the accused.

Dongfreid confirms my point. The people who engage in name calling reveal much more about themselves than they do about the targets of their verbal attacks.
