President Obama has demonstrated in words and actions that he is the President for “All” Americans. He loves and wants what is best for all of us this includes those who voted for and against his Presidency. In view of that fact all Americans should support him and his agenda to make us a more perfect union. Unfortunately it doesn’t appear that this is a realistic expectation in our current racial and political divisive nation. African-Americans can’t control what others do but we can show our undivided support for our president. Therefore, I am asking that we keep President Obama in our prayers and to support him any way possible including his calls for service or action.
On June 27, 2009, I participated in a National Health Care Day of Service event. I decided to attend the event after President Obama encouraged Americans to give back by participating in a community event to promote National Health Care Day of Service. In addition to my group a large group of students from Prairie View A & M University also selected the community garden as their National Health Care Day of Service event.
The event was held at the Last Organic Outpost which is a non-profit organization committed to developing unban agriculture in the greater Houston area. One of the goals of the organization is to help people to learn about health and nutrition by growing what one eats.
People that volunteer to work in the community garden can take fresh produce as their method of payment.
You can learn more about the organization by logging on to www.lastorganicoutpost.com.
