An update from the Staff of the South Bend Obama for America office.

Greetings South Bend!

First of all, congratulations on all your hard work over the voter registration period. No one could have predicted that we would register so many thousands of new voters in such a short time. Our collective effort will pay dividends not only in this primary, but also for years to come with all the new voters who will participate in the political process. Your efforts have transformed politics in South Bend, and Senator Obama is grateful for your dedication to him and to the future of this city.

Now that voter registration is closed, our task is to reach out to undecided voters to persuade them to support Sen. Obama, and also to encourage existing supporters to early vote. I want to briefly update you on some of the events and volunteer opportunities coming up this week:

1. EARLY VOTE! -- We're asking all of our supporters to take the time this week to vote at the County-City Building in downtown South Bend (Jefferson & Lafayette). You can vote between 8.00am and 4.30pm, and we encourage you to bring your friends, neighbors, and church members to vote along with you.

2. ATTEND OUR ORGANIZATIONAL MEETING -- We are having an important organizational meeting on Tuesday at 7.00pm to kick off our Township Team program for volunteers in South Bend. We will detail the various ways you can help in the final three weeks before Election Day to make sure we deliver a big win for Barack on May 6! It's at the Westside Democratic Club, 617 S. Warren St -- we hope to see you all there.

3. CANVASS -- All this week, and next weekend, we'll be reaching out to voters and asking them to early vote. We need volunteers to walk the blocks next Saturday from 10.00am to 8.00pm Saturday, and on Sunday from 1.00pm to 8.00pm. If you'd like to canvass during the week, feel free to drop by the office (205 W. Jefferson at Main) and pick up a walk packet to complete over a few evenings this week.

As always, we are here to support your grassroots efforts -- you are the heart and soul of this movement, and together, we will win the state of Indiana and change America.
