I salute Hillary Cinton for her campaign for president. She has opened the door for many women to persue higher offices in the future. The notion of a woman as commander in chief is more realistic now than ever before. In her speech she said the glass ceiling now has 18 million cracks which is a great line in what was overall a fantastic speech. It must have been hard for her to deliver such a speech knowing she was ending a great run for president.
However the same glass celing is in place for minorities. Barack Obama has severely cracked if not shattered it. His dream is still alive. For the Clinton supporters to consider John McCain as an alternative to Barack Obama is almost a double standard.
I would hope they would band together as Americans and understand our economy is in terrible shape, the Iraq war seems to have no end, foreclosures have families searching for new housing and fuel prices are crippling many families and businesses ability to be on the road and take care of business. Can we trust that John McCain will do something different than the status quo.
Hillary's mission and platform mesh with Obama's well. There are subtle differences between them but not miles of differences that exist with McCain's platform. Reports of defections to McCain by Clinton supporters is for lack of a better word "crazy". Can we afford another four years of what we have now...if the price at the pump is any indicator then the question is no!
