Michelle Obama was back in the Upstate yesterday in Anderson speaking to a crowd of over 350 (in the middle of Monday afternoon in September, no less). Even if Fall was in the air, it was a mighty sunny day and few of our more creative supporters put the bumper stickers they'd just picked up to good use!
The community gathering started off on a high note with Terrance Roberts, the mayor of Anderson, announcing that he was endorsing Senator Obama for President. Barack would do more than change Washington politics, Mayor Roberts noted, as the new face of the country, he would help change politics right here in South Carolina too.
After receiving Mayor Roberts support for Barack, Michelle spoke to the gathered crowd about one of her husbands's favorite topics, the difference between the world as it
is
and the world as it
should be
.
But making the world a little more like it should be, Michelle reminded the crowd, "takes more than cheering when [someone is] standing in front of you at a rally. It requires hard work, real effort by everyone who believes that things have to change."
Michelle really hit the nail on the head with that point. Especially here in South Carolina, if we're going to win the Palmetto State for Barack, we all have to
get involved
, we all have to make an effort to bring our friends and neighbors into the campaign.
All in all, Michelle and Team Obama had another great day in the Upstate, bringing out a whole new group of supporters to meet the powerful woman behind the man and get fired up about
joining Barack's movement for change
