Lawrence Lessig
, world-renowned
copyright & technology policy scholar
and founder of
Creative Commons
, just put up this
incredibly interesting, twenty-minute video
about why he'll be supporting Barack tomorrow.
While Barack's strong
technology policy
, which Lessig
called
"important and importantly balanced" when it was first announced back in November, played a role in his decision, it was hardly the only factor behind his decision to support Obama.
See the video for the whole story...
Why are you supporting Barack? How have you shared
your personal endorsement
with your friends and family?

Please make phone calls to Massachussetts. We need to win thee for Kennedy, Kerry and Patrick.
During phone banking today, I was speaking with a young voter and I heard her mum was saying in the background "If that's the Obama people, tell them it's about time. We alrerady had 3 phone calls from Hillary Clinton". I was astounded.
The Clintons are working the phones in MA, while folks are here posting comments. Please make calls NOW.

I've been trying to get into the phone bank application and it is busy :-(
At least it said it was due to 'overwhelming traffic.' :-)
In a side note, there was a prominent radio personality today that said he got three campaign calls this weekend. Two robocalls- from Ron Paul and Hillary Clinton, and one personal call, from a supporter of Barack Obama. Maybe those three calls from Clinton are robo-calls anyways...

Contact a specific state HQ. States have their own set-up. IF the national campaign servers are maxed, try that.
I'm an LD district captain. I've got people phoning through our state system right now (non-Feb. 5 state.)
Call or email the state you want to phone to. See if they've got room for you.
Just came on for a minute - wonderful blog today! Thanks Sam, Sarah et all! Very motivating to come here for my "Obama fix." Thanks to the commenters, too - you guys make a difference. Keep up the positive momentum!

If it is too busy now, you can always try calling CA voters later on if you are on the east coast (time difference and all) and hopefully it won't be as packed then.

Even here in Iowa, where they drove us nuts for weeks, I only got one actual call from Clintons. This must mean they are learning from us how to run a campaign, if they've called three times. (I did get several robocalls and a couple of push-polls from her, and a total of probably 200 from everyone). I spoke with ONE live person from Richardson's campaign whom I believe I converted for second realignment, ONE from Edwards who had wanted to work for one or the other campaign and I told him how to find our offices, and all the rest of the live calls were from Obama supporters, in fact one I received while I was sitting in the office making calls lol.

Q: What is the Courage Campaign?
A: We are a California-based progressive online organization that empowers people just like you to plug-in to politics and turn out to vote.
Link
Are you registered as a "Decline-To-State" voter in California? Did you know that you have the right to vote in the Democratic Party presidential primary?
You just need to ask for a "Democratic Party ballot."
To vote for your favorite Democratic presidential candidate, all you need to do is ask a poll worker at your polling place for a "Democratic Party ballot."
---
Q: I am a "Decline-To-State" voter and I am planning on voting in-person at my polling place on Tuesday, February 5. What do I need to do to vote for president in the Democratic primary?
A: When you walk into your polling location, ask for a "Democratic Party ballot" after the polling place worker asks you for your name. If you are handed a ballot that does not include presidential candidates, just hand the ballot back to the poll worker and ask for a "Democratic Party ballot" instead.
Q: What if the poll worker says I am not allowed to have a "Democratic Party ballot"?
A: Some poll workers may not be aware of the law. Be firm. If the polling place worker is not aware of your right to vote for a Democratic presidential candidate, explain that the California Democratic Party allows voters registered as "Decline-To-State" to vote in the Democratic primary.
If the poll worker continues to insist that you can only have the "Decline-To-State" ballot, then request a "provisional" ballot. Your provisional ballot will not be counted until the county elections official can determine its validity.

California gets its own butterfly ballot
Link
it's looking like Los Angeles County has managed to add an extra wrinkle that could cause all sorts of problems. This is a sample of the ballot in which a DTS voter must not only request the ballot and vote for president, but mark at the top of the ballot that they want to vote in the Democratic primary. Voting for the candidate, apparently, is not enough of an indication of intent.
This is a big enough deal that Barack Obama just sent out an email on the subject:
If you declined to select a political party when you registered to vote, you can still vote for Barack Obama if you request a Democratic ballot from the poll worker. Make sure you mark "Democratic" in the appropriate space or the vote might not be counted.
This is mixed in with the procedure for provisional ballots and the times that polls are open. Why is this such a big deal? Because nearly 20% of Los Angeles County voters are Decline To State. That works out to 776,000 DTS voters in Los Angeles County- which is 75% of the total number of Democratic votes cast in every primary and caucus so far. Needless to say, even on Super Tuesday, that's a big deal.
But it's even more odious than that. The law is pretty clear on this sort of thing and, well, it's not exactly on the right side of the law. And that has gotten the Courage Campaign legal team into high gear, sending a letter saying in part
DTS voters requesting partisan ballots and registered Democratic and American Independent voters will receive the exact same Ink-a-Vote ballot. However, contrary to statutory provisions set forth in the Election Code, Los Angeles County requires DTS voters to complete an additional hurdle by marking either box number 5 (for American Independent ballots) or box number 6 (for Democratic party ballots) or their vote for President of the United States will not be counted. Invalidating a ballot based solely upon the failure to mark a box, (box 5 or 6) even though the voter has cast his/her ballot for a candidate for president, constitutes an improper basis for rejection and a policy that violates the rights of DTS voters.

Is one to write "Democratic" or "Democrat" on the ballot? There is a difference. I wonder if it would mean anything of import. Here in Cook County IL when registering one is to write "Democrat". I hope this all gets done right in CA, sounds weird to be coming up this late in the process.

You dont understand the pain I feel right now, I voted for the first time for Kerry. But that vote was just to get rid of bush.Never have I been so passionate about any candidate. I read MSM biased articles, get angry and blog non stop. My fiance is pregnant and is having problems so that keeps me home campaigning for Obama. So I ask for anyone out there for me and my family to pull two or three extra people to change and vote for Obama. My fiance is not an American citizen and cant vote so it is really devistating for us this house is Obama's house. I've been fired up, I've been Ready to go; And I cant even participate in the game! Its like breaking a leg before the Super Bowl! So to all of my Obama family members, I have been so inspired by all of the positive people Obama has brought together. We are apart of his true message, we are what America should be! This man is amazing and has touched us all. My three year old calls him "The Rock Obama" lol so for us Upstate NY york Folks. Go out and vote go and Rock the vote for Obama. And you know what I will be out there pushing the crowds at these voting stations for Obama!

WOOHOO. Thanks Joy. Nothing really to add. I've just been trying to log on, off and on for an hour, and this was my golden ticket! Welcome, all you folks who are checking us out for the first time! Barack is an AMAZING candidate. Truly change we can believe in. I lived in IL the entire time he was state senator, and I know he honors his words with action. Also, I'm in Iowa, like Joy, and we got to know all the candidates REALLY well. In such a strong field, Barack still stood out as by far the best. If you're wondering about where he stands on any issue, click on the ISSUES tab; the Blueprint for Change, a 60+page outline of his plans on a range of issues, is an excellent start. This swayed many undecided voters and voters who had been strongly leaning towards another candidate. Never had they seen such comprehensive proposals from a candidate--and that's saying something, as this is Iowa!

Yes We Can Vote Democracy over Dynasty
I’m going to keep this simple and straight to the point.
If Hillary Clinton is ANYWHERE on the ticket, I will change my registration to Independent and vote Republican for the first time in my life.
I know what some people are thinking as they read this blog…“We don’t want another Republican in the White House”…”The Republicans are far worse than Hillary Clinton”…”V ote for the lesser of 2 evils”
I know that this thinking may sound plausible…because we have been trained by the pundits to think this way. When we have come to the point when we are led to choose between “the lesser of two evils” we have to come to terms of reality that our democracy is slipping away from the true values of the American people. If you believe this cynical view, then you’re voting out of fear instead of conviction.
We see right now that the balance of power has shifted towards the Executive Branch when the son, George Bush 2, of a President, George Bush 1, is in the White House.
We can’t even begin to imagine how the balance of power will continue to shift to the Executive Branch if we have 2 presidents, Bill Clinton and Hillary Clinton, in the White House at the same time for the first time in our history.
It strikes me in awe that people are so blind by their self-interest of winning and in fact state their reason for voting for Hillary Clinton simply because of having a president, Bill Clinton that already served the full 2 terms, back in the White House which would otherwise be unconstitutional. But at the same time these same people are wide awake and realize that a 2nd term of the Bush family was the worse thing that happened in the history of our Democracy.
Let me be very clear with my view on this.
My vote will not be against Hillary Clinton.
My vote will not be against the Democratic Party.
My vote will not be for the Republican Party.
My vote is bigger than Barack Obama.
My vote is for Democracy over Dynasty.
Too many times we have seen our “loyal” vote taken for granted by the Democratic Party, as well as, the Republican Party. So I say here today…
...continued on next thread

My vote is not going to be a Democratic vote.
My vote is not going to be a Republican vote.
My vote will be an American vote for justice, peace and prosperity of Democracy.
America, we have the chance to lead the world in setting aside the Ideological, Partisan, and the Dynastical mind set that is so deeply rooted in Politics perpetuated by the Main Stream Media. The leaders around the world will begin to see that YES WE CAN win by uniting people across gender, religion and race.
Because I stand for Democracy over Dynasty…because I’m an American before I’m a Democrat…I will be force to change my registration to an Independent to send a clear message to the Democratic Party that my vote will never again be taken for granted.
I ask all that agree with this blog to unite on this message of Democracy over Dynasty. Let’s unite in one voice and send this message to every blog around the world…Every article that is written…Every Radio Station…Every TV Station.
YES WE CAN VOTE DEMOCRACY OVER DYNASTY.
If we do this America, Barack Obama will shock the world with the Audacity of Hope.

"What the Tears Tell Us" by TOM BEVAN
She's at it again, but it's difficult to see how it benefits her this time around. Her tears are either a calculated reconstruction of her "reverse Muskie moment" in New Hampshire, which will turn voters off, or they represent another display of emotion that will have people whispering about whether she's up to the job of president if the pressure of the primary campaign has seen her shedding tears twice in three and a half weeks.
Furthermore, it's a bit of a contradiction for Clinton to be constantly misting up and getting verklempt while simultaneously deploying the argument that she's tougher than Barack Obama and can handle whatever the Republicans come at her with in the general election.
Meanwhile, Obama seems to be holding up just fine, thank you very much. And not just because the winds are blowing his direction at the moment. This summer when the polls had him 20 points down and the folks around him began to panic, Obama stayed incredibly cool. After a shocking, even disappointing loss in New Hampshire followed by a hard fought defeat in Nevada, Obama kept his emotions in check, a feat made even more remarkable given that he was under daily attack by the former President as well.
If primary campaigns tell us anything at all, they give us a sense of the temperament of individuals and how they respond to adversity, which might be the most important thing the public needs to know when choosing a president.
On that score, at least so far, Obama is acquitting himself much better than Hillary. While she flits back and forth between tears, cackles, and angry attacks, the freshman Senator from Illinois has shown a remarkably even keel.

It was timed perfectly...probably happened in the morning and just in time for her to talk about it in the town hall, so she can juice the most out of it.

I just wanted to share this with all. I have emailed out a more personal letter to everyone. It doesn't have much effect at this point, seeing that I live in Indiana.
There are many reasons that I support Barack Obama but the biggest one is that he gives me hope for a better future for my daughter. As a single parent, I often struggle with the thought, am I doing enough to ensure that she has the brightest, happiest, most secure future I can offer her. There are days when I’m sure that I am but as any parent, there are days when I’m sure I’m not. I have always been on the fringe of politics, I vote in every election and have since I was of voting age but yet I’ve never felt like I was voting for someone, only against someone. This year is different for me, after educating myself about all the candidates; I was leaning towards Hillary Clinton. What better way for my daughter to see that she could be anything she wanted to be, as a young girl growing up to be what I hope is a great woman. I had voted for Bill Clinton and although I found his personal choices awful, I still felt that he was a good president.
Then it happened, I heard Barack Obama speak on television, not in person with the excitement of the crowd, but just me sitting in my living room by myself. Now I had heard him speak at the Democratic National Convention and was deeply moved by his words, but this was different. I was watching a man that in just a 20 minute time frame made me feel empowered that I could make a change and it would be a positive change. I have always heard and in some way felt that one person’s vote didn’t count and it couldn’t change anything but felt this especially after watching Bush steal the last election. I had voted as had millions of other people, who were left feeling that they had wasted their time. I am not trying to speak for everyone but I’ve heard enough people voice this same feeling so I’m going to say it.
So today I sit here, having just checked on what I like to call America’s future, asleep in her bed and I know that I must add one

Barack has touched us all in such a way that I never thought possible. I have always been a dreamer but now I feel like I have a whole nation sharing the same dream, the only thing thats different is we are wide a wake and the dream is real.

Tahira -- I'm in Michigan, too. You need to become a member of the Michigan Democratic Party in order to attend the congressional district meetings that will decide who the "Uncomitted" delegates will be on March 29. It doesn't cost anything if you print out the form to join and send it in. We need to make sure the Uncommitted delegates don't get given to the candidate who promised to take her name off the ballot and then "missed the deadline." Here's the link to get the form

If you join one of the Michigan groups, you ought to be able to get more information

Thank you for sharing your story, Maggie! Friends, family and neighbors are some of the most valuable endorsements Barack has. Thank you for standing up for him, and your assessment is spot on. With Barack, it's about what WE can do as a nation; with other politicians, it's usually about their empty promises of what THEY will do for us. I'll take the change I know we can believe in.

Hi team,
This is a reminder of the 2 days of prayer for Barack on Mon, Feb 4 and Tue, Feb 5. (Optional fasting on Feb 4). Please see my original post below, which has more details.
============================== ============================== ====
Hi team,
Super Tuesday is fast approaching. Please join my family in 2 days of prayer for Barack on Mon, Feb 4 and Tue, Feb 5. We will be fasting on Feb 4, so please join us in that as well, if you wish. Please structure the prayer and fasting according to your preference (individual prayer, group prayer, partial fast, full-day fast, no fasting at all, prayer 2 times a day, prayer 3 times a day, etc).
Someone said in an email recently that Hillary has some serious prayer warriors in her camp. Apparently, they prayed for Hillary all day on the Tuesday of the New Hampshire primary and also the night before. It may be their prayers that caused her unexpected win in New Hampshire. As the apostle Paul wrote, “For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but … against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms” (Ephesians 6:12).
Let us cast aside doubts and remember the words of Jesus: “Whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours” (Mark 11:24). We have to believe that God will grant our requests, not only that He is able to grant them.
To echo someone’s comments previously, let us also pray for Hillary Clinton - that she will re-assess the choices she has made and that she will allow God to make her the woman He wants her to be. I’m confident that God will cause her to lose this nomination, not just for America’s sake but for Hillary’s own sake - a severe jolt to push her to look at herself in the mirror and change course. I will post reminders about the days of prayer just before Feb 4 & 5.

I won't be able to stay online too late tonight, but I was thinking about some things that I wanted to say.
I have read several items on the internet about the unrealistic expectations of Obama supporters. That does concern me, because tomorrow is just ONE battle of many that we will have to fight between now and November.
I would love for Obama to win all 22 states tomorrow. I don't think that is realistic. We will win some and lose some. The fact that some states are even in play is HUGE! The fact that Hillary is going to have to keep fighting after Feb 5th is HUGE!
So I am asking that we all keep that YES WE CAN attitude no matter what the outcome tomorrow. That we are more determined than ever. In fact, first thing in the morning on Feb 6th, I am donating to the Obama campaign. Who is with me?
(And by the way, if he DOES sweep Super Tuesday, I will happily come back here, find this post, and eat some crow!)

I still think we lose CA, NY, NJ, MA, AZ, NM, TN, OK, and AR.
But we'll be close in many of those and win a bunch of the others by a good margin :) Then the fun starts!!!
Yes we can!
We worked hard here in ATL, and I don't think GA will be much of a problem at all. If we don't win by 10% or more here, I will be surprised!

I KNEW we would win Iowa. Folks on the ground have the best sense of what's going on. And in Iowa, people had the most time to get to know the candidates. The more folks get to know Barack, the more they realize he's what our country so desperately needs. It's just a matter of time, for folks to get to know him and to get over their well-conditioned cynicism. So keep reaching out to those in states that haven't voted yet; it's only too late once the polls have closed!

I think there needs to be a place on here where people can share their own success stories with this campaign. This is a campaign of the people and it is the people that are making the difference- all being led, of course, by Sen Obama and his incredibly dynamic wife Michelle.
So I'll start- I convinced my girlfriend to switch her vote from John McCain to Sen Obama. In turn, she got her three roommates to send in absentee ballots on Mr Obama's behalf. Also, I will be accompanying my boss to MN's caucuses tomorrow and he has never voted before (of course he'll side with Obama too!!! Yes.We.Can.

Great work, Adam! As a precinct captain in IA, I helped Barack get 5 of our precinct's 9 delegates, the remaining 4 being evenly split between JRE and HRC. We had nearly 250 Obama supporters there, whereas in 2004 there were just over 300 total caucus-goers. This followed months of canvassing, phone-banking, and generally talking the ear off of anyone who would listen!

As a PC here, along with my great staff and the blog's support, to get my precinct to go 4/10 for Obama in a VERY rural community; the other 4 for E, and 2 for Clintons. Clintons only made viability here by 6. It was so amazing!
I also phone banked in Cedar Rapids, where we spent several hours talking to voters. While I was there, I got a call from someone sitting in the room lol.

Ok, ok. I was channel surfing, and landed on Fox news. They happened to be conducting a focus group of GOPs. A huge thing that came out was the around 25% - 30% of the group would actually consider voting for Obama if Obama was the Democratic nominee. That`s huge!!! They facilitator thought so too. They also commented that he was much more trustworthy than Clinton. No wonder Pat Buchanan wants Clinton elected so badly!
I hope America does the right thing tomorrow. He WILL be the next President of the United States if he has a really good day tomorrow. I`can`t believe how invested I am in this process. I`m Canadian, and I hardly care about Canadian politics!

Can't wait to talk to you guys tomorrow. I haven't had access to the internet where I have been staying and I have been too busy working to read the blogs.
On a couple of nights I had a chance to open about 7 blogs in Safari before I left the office for the day, and on those nights I could read the blogs off line when I got "home". But I couldn't write you back and I couldn't open any links! Last night was one of those nights and I got to listen to all of you talk about UCLA, and yes, many of you made me cry.
Right now I have my earphones in and am about to listen to all the UCLA women as my bedtime story.
I finally have internet access for a couple of days and can catch up on things. I will be hanging out with you guys here after I return from the caucus tomorrow night.
Tomorrow is a big day. I will spend it answering email sent to the boulder office and catching up on some of what I missed. If you guys have any awesome links that I've missed, post them here and I will check them out tomorrow.
I know this message is rambling and disorganized, but I'm too tired to care enough to fix it! In fact, I'm not even gonna preview.
Love to all - Nancy

Okay this may be a stupid question, but this is the very first time I've really been into politics. I was going to vote first thing tomorrow morning, but now I'm confused. Do I just go to where I normally vote (in the morning) or do I go to the caucus site????
The caucus doesn't open it's doors until 6pm. So, I'm think maybe that's something else.
I want to vote for Obama tomorrow. Please help!!

I would have to agree mostly with you. Unfortunately, if those numbers are true then we're out :(... So, hopefully a lot of the states that we shows we're going to lose we will win. WE need to win CA!! and we will win GA and Illinois those are the only 2 certain ones. But, everything else is iffy/iffy... I think we have a good chance of winning Conneticut and Alabama!

Actually, my numbers have us holding on past 2/5, which is monumental considering where we were a few months ago. We cannot 'win' or 'lose' on 2/5.
Any bit of survival past 2/5 is astronomical because Barack can then focus his attention on one state at a time (more or less), and it's well known the more face time he gets, the better his chances are!
I agree with your 'must win' points and hope that we are able to do that. Thanks for reading :-)

I read the description of her program. It said she is fielding questions from her "supporters." That's an odd way to hold a town hall meeting.... unless your last name is George W. Bush. I have respect for the people that want to vote for Sen. Clinton, when they say they support her for her leadership, experience, ect. I don't respect those that say they'd vote for her simply because she's a woman. That I don't care for.
I enjoyed the video by Mr. Lessig. He summed up all the reasons why I'm voting for Sen. Obama and why I was sorely disappointed in Sen. Clinton and her "supportive spouse." There is a lack of moral courage and integrity missing from both of them.

Is anyone watching Hillary's Town Hall?! To be honest - I like the idea, but I think she has done it VERY badly! She is being asked vetted questions by her existing supporters, and the hostess looks and sounds like an annoying old granny. Correct me if anyone thinks I'm wrong, but this looks to me like it can only help our movement. She's attempted to be dynamic and fresh, but has only ended up looking old and old-fashioned.
On another point - I live in NYC, and every day I went to work last week I saw Obama volunteers in the morning and the evening - THANK YOU! I've only once seen the Hillary lot, and they got chased away pretty quick when our rally of a few hundred people showed up from the North and South in Columbus Circle! Watch out Hillary - we're setting up in your backyard!

I agree 100% with everything Mr. Lessig has to say in his video. The "final straw" that tipped me towards barack was a feature on msnbc where they described factual inaccuracies stated by both barack and hillary in the last debate. Barack's campaign had the class and honesty to retract barack's mistakes. It was obvious that they were unintentional slip-ups that anyone could make. Hillary's campaign denied that she had said anything wrong, in the face of clear facts to the contrary. Whether she intentionally lied or whether her campaign has just adopted the tactic of refusing to back down on any factual misstatement, it really doesn't matter- Barack's campaign took the high road, and hers took the low road. I think Hillary's kind of politics is the kind we are all tired of.
I have to say, however, (and I know everyone is going to pounce on me for this) that I was unimpressed with this campaign's flyer about the differences between Barack's and Hillary's health care plans. Although there were no direct lies in the flyers, they were misleading, as pointed out on factcheck.org and left a sour taste in my mouth. I know politics is a dirty business, but I think Barack has much more to gain from being consistently honest and presenting people with the unadulterated facts, and letting people know they can trust him, alone among the candidates, than he has to gain from skirting the edges of rovean politics. I hope he will do that and I hope the campaign will issue some kind of statement clarifying the distinctions that were made in that misleading flyer.

Tomorrow is one of the most important days in the history of the United States. The world will be enthusiastically watching for the results of Super Tuesday.
As a Canadian, I pray that ALL OBAMA volunteers do the following
1) Put in 110% effort from the opening of the polls till closing
2) Do not get over confident, EVERY VOTE COUNTS
3) Do not get distracted by blogs, tv, or other stuff. Be focused
4) Make a promise when you leave home, that you will be a part of history.
5) In the last two years, do something EXTRA. Find those extra votes, or drive those voters who forgot
6)When the polls close, be proud of yourself, that you did EVERYTHING in your power to make a difference
During the South Carolina primary, I personally phoned every regional Obama office in the last three hours to let them know, how appreciative we all are, and how each vote matters. Volunteers couldnot believe a Canadian would be so motivated to phone them and say thanks.
As Senator Obama and his wife Michelle have repeatedly told us and inspired us during this MOVEMENT, that "we all CAN make a difference."
YES WE CAN.

Dear Friends,
I hope this finds you well.
A question, a reflection, and an endorsement.
Why is our country divided?
Why has this division been growing?
Can we not all agree that we are a country that supports its families, that protects its citizens and respects its neighbors?
A country that educates its children?
Are we not a country that can lead by example rather than by force?
Is ours a government of the people, by the people, for the people?
I would like to think so.
But I believe that corporate greed and its involvement in policy making, along with political cronyism have made it nearly impossible for the people to govern.
So we fight amongst ourselves over the spin of political slogans and half truths.
And so we are divided.
It is time for a change and that is why I support Barack Obama for President.
Respectfully,
Dave Matthews

This piece has helped crystalize to me why my support has grown increasingly strong for Obama over the last month or so. I kept looking to minute policy differences and trying to read into them something larger, but in fact I am not always sure what the absolute best route is towards universal health care or legalization for undocumented workers, though I think both those issues are quite important, and how we get there matters. However, what tips the balance for me is belief in the integrity of the candidate who can stand by the courage of his convictions. I said it before and I'll say it again: I was convinced to switch from registered Green to Democrat because with Obama someone came along who I believed could make a real difference, not just by pulling the debate in a favorable direction, but being himself an agent for needed change not only of the policies but of the process.

I started as a supporter for Hillary Clinton. I've grown of course less and less enthralled by her. Initially when I decided NOT to support her was immediately after I researched ethics and voting records. It wasn't until after that I decided to support Barack Obama--I researched all of the candidates tirelessly.
As a former Clintons supporter, I believe I can speak to the outrage and indignation which those who so adamantly oppose her feel. It is only in small part in favor of Barack Obama that I feel this betrayal from her. Her adaptation of the Rovian techniques absolutely nails it for me, even if I had supported her or anyone else. These are the things that Lawrence Lessig spoke so clearly of in his video. Thank you so much for putting it so factually into words for me.
I absolutely trust Barack Obama. I truly believe in him. I am a changed person because of his candidacy and moreover because of this movement. There is no going back.

Thank you Lawrence for breaking it down! You definitely cut through to the truth of the matter.
I always wonder if the reason people are ready for this candidacy of integrity, character, brains, and inspiration is due, in part, to the post 9/11 wound on the American psyche and it's unexpected aftermath--a tremendous surge in the feelings of Americans of solidarity and unity. In us, a spirit of hope, courage, and action was born. Then, in our vulnerable state, we were lied to about the war. That's betrayal, and this type of betrayal was further exposed with the way Katrina was handled.
But those same feelings--unity, courage, hope, and action--did not die. And I wonder if that yearning has made its way to a patriotic call to action for our nation, and yes, a nomination that gives a humane signal to the world.
