The recount is basically junk. Bev Harris is discovering all sorts of really shifty things involving the ballots and chain of custody, including the two (yes two) guys who were the only ones whom were allowed to ship the votes from balloted areas to a warehouse . They wouldn't even give Bev their real names, but she found out what they were. There's more, including a rendevous with a green jeep who rushed away when one of the drivers ran over to it and had 5 seconds of conversation with the driver.. the fact that at several points, the ballot carriers started speeding tremendously, the fact that most of the ballot boxes had been slit open, the fact that the "seals" on the boxes were removable and resealable without any trace (like big post it notes), and so on
Go to blackboxvoting.org to find out more. Go to forums, and then "Latest..." to see what she has dug up from under the sump. It is truly startling, and chilling, and is suggestive of complicity in vote tampering by the highest levels of NH government.

That's why it's important for us to get Obama supporters to vote early and vote by mail-in ballots where ever possible, to offset the possibility of shading dealings with the voting machine programming code.

Senator Obama needs to give such a soaring speech after SC victory ( I know bit presumptuous) that media talks about it for days and days.
We need all the momentum out of South Carolina victory as three events before super tuesday are likely to dampen it a bit
(1) President Bush's state of the union address
(2) CNN/LA TIMES debate on 31st Jan
(3) Super Bowl on 3rd Feb
If he gives a speech so spectacular in its message of unity and race transcendence and moving forward together, it could reverberate for a longer time. A speech more powerful than what he gave at DNC in Boston during Kerry convention or what he gave at the church in Atlanta for MLK service.

75 years ago, one of our greatest Presidents calmed our fears and raised our hopes during the worst economic downturn this country has ever seen. Both Franklin and Teddy Roosevelt knew that the real power of the Presidency was the power of "the Bully Pulpit".
A young president named Kennedy understood this as well when he addressed the crisis in our streets over civil rights and in announcing the threat of Soviet missiles in Cuba.
I know I've been criticized recently for praising Republican presidents, but the truth is that "The Great Communicator" did much to "tear down" the walls of communism. He also brought a civility to the Oval Office that is sorely lacking today.
Once again, our country is in trouble. Our nation is at war with no end in sight. Our planet is in peril due to our failure to change our cars and industries. It seems that the American Dream is slipping away. Too many of our neighbors cannot afford healthcare. Some of our family and friends are on the brink of foreclosure. Others have lost their jobs. Worst of all, it seems like our politics is broken beyond repair.
So, to the single moms out there. I hear you! I know your struggles. I am your son. Join our cause and together we can reach the American dream.
To our new citizens. I hear you! I've lived your struggles. I am your brother. Si Se Peude! Join our cause and we will wipe the tears from Lady Liberty and lift the lamp of freedom once again.
To our family members who are out of work. I hear you! I've worked with you on the streets of Chicago. I am your friend. Join our cause and we will rebuild America.
To those of us still searching for justice. I hear you! I've fought with you in the courts. I am your advocate. Join our cause and together we will balance the scales of Justice once again.
To our students who are struggling in school or have given up. I hear you! I struggled too early on. I've overcome mistakes. I am your teacher. Join our cause and we will make our schools great again.
For this campaign is proof that together we can fix our politics. Join our cause and we will show the world that "the hope still lives and the dream shall never die"

Everyone, please take a moment to write to the DNC and tell them how you feel:
Link
This is what I wrote:
This is VERY serious. I am a lifelong, dedicated Democrat, and I am extremely concerned about the Democratic Party.
I supported the Clintons throughout the 90's, but the way they have run Hillary's campaign over the past several months has been very disturbing. They have disgusted me so much with their Rove-style politics, smears, dirty tricks, and nasty comments, that I can NOT vote for Hillary in November if she wins the nomination. I am not kidding. Also, Bloomberg has made it quite clear that he will run if Hillary is the nominee, and therefore split the Democratic vote.
You MUST do everything in your power to prevent Hillary from getting this nomination. She will tear the party and the country apart, she will lose elections for Democratic congressional candidates in "purple" states, she will energize and unite the REPUBLICAN party, and she will LOSE the White House in November...I have talked to MANY MANY Democrats across the country who feel the same way. Again, this is VERY serious...
You will say publicly that there's nothing you can do, but I KNOW that there are things you can do behind the scenes...If you want to win the White House and stay in control of Congress, you BETTER do them!!!

I think we also need to go on Hillary's web site and blog this message to her supporters: that there are those of us who are registered Democrats who supported Clinton in the 90's but will do not want to see them back in office. We also feel that the Republicans could take back the White House if she's the nominee and again, if she is the nominee, I won't vote for her. I'm a 58 year old caucasian woman who understands that you can't go back and recapture what you once had; times have changed. So e-mail the DNC and tell them how upset you are over Bill Clinton trashing Obama and then do the same on Hillary's site.

I agree that this race is going to divide the democratic party. My friends have stated that would rather see a republican or independent win than Hilary with the dirty tatics her campaign is using. If we believe she wins fair then good but that's going to be hard to believe with the tatics they're using. I read on cnn.com that she met with John Edwards after the debate. Ask yourself why is he still in the race. Hello: My bet is Hilary wins SC with the help of John Edwards please take the blinders off. Why is she not in SC I believe it's to give the impression that she has conceded to Barack so more of her supporters will get out and vote.
IDEA: Open Letter |

Jan 23rd 2008 at 12:09 pm EST
I have an idea that may be a good move, but I need some input.
I think as individuals, we bloggers should combine some of our resources and have an 'open letter to the DNC' published in a major newspaper (i.e. USA Today, Washington Post, or New York Times).
It should be carefully written as a critique/condemnation of the Clinton campaign without being pro-Obama...and state that as Democrats, we are dismayed with the political practices of lies, distortion of the truth, and smear tactics used by the Clinton Campaign.
This letter would then have the names of those who contribute financially and by working on this project. It would be great to do this before the Feb 5th elections or even better BEFORE SC.
What does everyone think?
Can this be done? Would the campaign frown upon this idea? Is there anyone with contacts that could make this happen?

I'm certainly not dismissing this idea. I'm merely offering this as an extension of yours. What if we went more local with this, too--that is, composing a letter together (with some of the most carefully-crafted lines from our discussions on this blog) and sent it as a letter to our editor of our local papers?

LR:
I have always encouraged everyone to write to their local newspapers, but an open letter, usually a paid 'advertisement' in a nationally read newspaper would receive a great deal of attentiona and perhaps finally push the DNC to do something about the Clinton campaign.

Jedi Master and LR, I like this idea. I think we should do an online petition as well. Bet it wouldn't take much time to collect signatures.
Also, I have had very good responses from an email I sent on MLK day with Obama's speech, and one I sent yesterday with his statement on the anniversary of Roe v Wade. I included the Women for Obama video and link to the site.
The Huffington Post piece would be a great chain email to send to all of your contacts as would Sen Kerry's letter.

I like the idea of an open letter showing the strong case for why Obama is the best presidential candidate. Adding the contri to the other campaign smells of an "Obama Supporter" tactic which will be attributed to his campaign, no matter how "open" you try to make the letter.
The fact that you have logged this in this blog where others can come back and find it is also problematic.
I would like to encourage Obama supporters to be ethical at all times in our die-hard efforts to help him get elected.
Please think through great ideas very carefully - - too much is at stake here.

They were playing right into the Clinton campaign's attempt to turn the story they were so worried about.. about Bill becoming unhinged and "over the top" about Obama and trying to reverse that somehow into the effect Bill's having on Obama. And it wasn't true! That's great and this thing really needs to be exposed.

Jan 23rd 2008 at 12:35 pm EST
I am a Republican, former veteran born in Baltimore, (white) living currently in Germany. I have been spending the last few months on netscape daily under the name ALBMORE presenting the case for Obama and against the Clintons.
Not beause I believe the Republicans can win against Obama, but because he is the best man for the job.
I thought it was funny as Obama was asked how black Billy Boy was, the question should had been how white is Obama? This will be a factor in many of states. This maybe be a sore subject but a true one. It is very important at this time that Obama shows he is as I see him a canidate without borders of color or party. His contact with Colon Powell and comments on Reagan showed me this. This will be a major plus for him in the Presidential race, but first we must beat Hillary.
Yes, we are fighting both Clintons for the white house, if any one has time please view my comments on Netscape and help get out the truth. This is a fight we must win for us, OUR children, OUR nation, OUR White House and OUR future.
All Democrats must realize if you stand for what you SAY you believe in, IF you want a new America, IF you do not want to lose again to the Republican Party then vote for a NEW ERA, not a turn back in time. Today is the day to take back OUR land OUR government, OUR lives from the corruption and the misuse of OUR trust from OUR leaders OUR senate OUR House of Rep. and the hands of the Clintons and the Bushs. It is funny that Hillary boast of her fight for years, Yes many of yeras playing the same old game and getting no where. GOODBYE Hillary, GOOD BYE Bill, GOODBYE OLD!

I am a life long Democrat, voted for Bill Clinton twice and worked to get him elected while living in California. Let me be very clear, there is no way that I will vote for Hillary Clinton. Nada, none, never. It is sad to be sure, but I will just sit the election out rather than compromise my principles and put this country in the hands of such sycophants.

I had the exact SAME thought, about him helping her down the stairs in such a natural way. And I think it is in these subtleties that you recognize whether people are for real.
I was really happy with this video, for one thing because it was so refreshing to see a politician openly and genuinely enjoying himself, as opposed to all these fake smiles you always see on tv. It was clear that this event wasn't all planned out, Ms. Edith Childs was improvising on the spot, launching a new chant even: "Get out to Vote" "Get out to Vote"... it was just SOO uplifting after all the garbage from last week. It put a huge smile on my face!! And yes, Barack is right: one voice CAN change the world! Let's do it!!
OUR NEW TACTIC!! |

I HAVE FOUND A WAY TO WIN!!!
I dont know how many people saw the movie 8-mile with Eminem. But there is a great tactic to be learned in that movie!!! The tactic goes like this..
Say everything your enemy will use to thier advantage against you first.....then start attacking your enemy.
So it would work like this in the category of Lobbyists.....Barack could say...
"In my campaign I have never taken Federal lobbyist money and they will not run my white house. One of my campaign advisors does lobby for drug companies but he is not a federal lobbyist, and will not lobby in my white house. With that said, I have voted for lobbyist reform and Hillary has not. She alWays took lobbyist money, and she is still taking lobbyist money today."
See...this way...she cant attack back and say...."oh, but one of your campign advisors is a lobbyist!"......it refuses her the ability to counter by making it seem redundant. And it denies her the ability to put things out of context. This is the kind of counter he needs to deploy for all situations because it keeps things from getting out of context and denies a comeback.
And we cant just say "oh, just stay positive and smile while the dogs are biting your leg off"....This is the 11th hour and we need to start denying these dogs the ability to bite!!
This is not even a negetive strategy...its a defensive one...im going to push for this tactic and everyone should too.

Does anyone know, was the reporter for ABC Jake Tapper? He's always doing negative pieces on the Senator, so I wouldn't put this past him either. ABC along with CNN seem to favor the Clintons.
Senator Obama doesn't seem to be upset at all. He was just answering the questions. The MSM is doing a terrible job on this election.

I love hearing Mr. Obama speak, because he seems to be talking 'with' his audience instead of 'at' them.

How powerful would it be for the NYT to come out and endorse Obama?! I was We should all mobilize and email their board specifying why Barack is the right person and why Hillary is not.
Is this a good idea? If so does someone have a link to email the right department?

**Today, the Washington Post cleared Obama of any connection with Rezko in any "slum landlord" business. The Post's "Fact Checker" column on p. A7 of Jan. 23 edition, states that based on the Post's research and the research of other Chicago newspapers, as well as a call to Obama's former law firm supervisor, Obama did not work with Rezko in any slum landlord business. This is yet another example substantiating Obama's claim that the Clintons are only interested in distorting the truth!! Fired Up! Ready to go!!

This race has emphasized Change in the policies and rhetoric of Washington. Its summed up best by one of my favorite quotes...
"Yesterday is yesterday. If we try to recapture it, we will only lose tomorrow." - Bill Clinton
Such an assertion is politically inconvenient to yesterday's old brass. To hear the quote, as well as the unifying message of Obama, watch my freshly released "Tomorrow for Obama" on YouTube.

It seems like too many people are dwelling on the past comments that HRC has made and not on the future which only hurts our campaign. We lose fights by sniping and start winning by staying out of the fray.

Check out the new song by a Seattle writing team, the Bergevin Brothers, and includes performances by Pearl Jam drummer Matt Cameron, Reverend Pat Wright's Total Experience Gospel Choir, Jake Bergevin and many other Northwest contributors.
