By now, hopefully everyone is aware of Barack Obama's invitation to the general public to contribute to the Democratic Party Platform. OPPORTUNITY SELDOM KNOCKS TWICE!
This springs Democratic Party primary and follow-on precinct, county and state conventions produced more active Democrats than seen in either Rockwall County or Texas for decades, if ever before. WE HAVE A UNIQUE OPPORTUNITY TO DO IT AGAIN, AND TO THIS TIME INCLUDE EVERYONE WHO WANTS TO PARTICIPATE - - NO ELECTION REQUIRED!
This is a great PR and visibility opportunity for Democrats in Rockwall County, but time is of the essence. The public can be invited to bring or deliver party platform proposals to the next RCDP meeting on July 19th or to any weekly Rockwall County for Obama 08 meeting.
OR - THE DEMOCRATS OF ROCKWALL COUNTY COULD BE BRAVE AND MAKE A SHOW OF FORCE BY FILLING THE HIGH SCHOOL GYMNASIUM OR EVEN A STADIUM - but time is of the essence.
Alternately, perhaps a newspaper ad could be run with the format for submitting platform proposals and a P.O. Box address to receive replys and perhaps then the platform committee of the county convention could be reconvened to review and consolidate all of the responses.
Alternately, perhaps Democrats across the county could be encouraged to host "platform parties" at their homes.
Those whom did particiate during March by submitting platform proposals during the precinct, county and state convention processes learned that ONE PERSONS IDEAS CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE!
Lets see some open dialog and discussion on the the best way that Rockwall County Democrats can take a 2nd bite at the Platform. What are your ideas?
Best regards,
Thom Bouis
p.s. Have you seen the newest local media of the other party? The Rockwall County News is now locally owned and in its first issue spent nearly a full page bashing Obama. Make sure that they hear from you, their e-mail address is
