Unity
I swore I wasn't going to do this but I cannot contain myself. I have felt chills all day and just now, when Jennifer Hudson sang The National Anthem, the tears started to fall.
As everyone knows, 45 years ago Martin Luther King, Jr delivered his 'I Have a Dream' speech. And tonight, Barack Obama will deliver his Democratic Nomination Acceptance Speech.
What a milestone for this country.
Everyone says we have a long way to go...and we do. Yet, look how far we've come.
For one night it does feel we are all...black, white, gay, straight and beyond...united as a country and as a people. At least I feel this and it has been a long time coming. We don't get very many moments like this in life so I would encourage EVERYONE, everywhere to embrace it. To bask and soak in this unity, well, it doesn't get much better.
This could be the beginning of the new Jerusalem. It can be, if we believe it. For what is heaven but us, hand in hand, loving our fellow brother and sister. There is nothing greater. One thing I know is there is a definite energy in the air. The mood is uplifted, the people are coming together and this would not have happened if not for, first, Martin Luther King, Jr all those years ago and, today, Mr. Barack Obama and his family.
In honor of unity, diversity and civil liberties, I do believe it is time to CELEBRATE for we may never pass this way again.
