I live in Tooele, one of the most conservitive counties in Utah. I have recieved alot of flack for being a proud Obama supporter, but I dont care. I own a flowershop and alot of my customers are angry with me for being a proud and vocal supporter. I really feel proud to be an American again, and can't wait for Jan 20th. I have two children who right along with myself and my husband supported Obama, My youngest daughter(11yrs old) ordered and paid for a hoodie that reads Kids 4 Obama and wore it to school everyday for 2 weeks, she was hit with VERY negative response from piers and administration alike. She fired right back with her support, I am so proud of her for standing up for herself and for our country. I feel like we as Americans finally had a voice Tuesday night. God Bless America!!!

Shalynda,
Those people shouldn't be attacking you for supporting someone, even if it is someone other than who they supported. We all have a choice in this country who to vote for. Obviously, they supported McCain. But, you didn't attack them for that, and they shouldn't be attacking you for supporting Barack Obama! And, good for you for supporting Barack! I know that it is hard being a Democrat in an overwhelming Republican state. I live in South Carolina (that used to be an overwhelming Republican state, but now it is just a fairly strong Republican state). In 2004, George Bush won South Carolina by 17 1/2% points. But, this year, John McCain only won South Carolina by 9% points. We cut the Republican's margin of victory in half. McCain won by 54% to Barack's 45%. That means that if you consider that 1% went to minor candidates, Barack was only 5% away from winning South Carolina in the General Election. And, he did win South Carolina during the Democratic Primary here by 55% points.
Also, of South Carolina's 46 counties, all but 4 went bluer. Of course, that doesn't mean that the Dems won all 42 of those counties, but it does mean that in every county except for those four, that things are starting to tilt the Dems way. We also almost picked up another U.S. House of Representative seat from a District that is trending Democratic. That candidate only lost by 4% points.
I would like to say Thank You to all of the people in Utah (and all of the other states that Barack didn't win) that supported Barack! Good Going!

The historic victory which told every child you can become what ever you can dream...except if you're QUEER.
SHAME on LDS, and Marriott Hotel, for shoveling 22 million into spewing their hatred. Utah tourism and Utah products are under a full LGBT
BOYCOTT.

underbear1,
Hopefully one day, an agreement concerning Gay Marriage can be reached, where everyone can agree!
Understand though, that Barack supports Civil Unions, but out of respect for the feelings of religous people who don't support Gay Marriage, he says that he doesn't support Gay Marriage. I don't think that he is against it himself, I just think that he is trying to respect the beliefs of religious people, who have Marriage as one of their sacred rites.

I was thrilled when President-Elect Obama won! Thank God America has been able to come so far.
Yes, Utah is a major "Red" state, but this election, we faded that "Red" quite a bit.
Now we must be ready to support President-Elect Obama as he tried to save this country from the dire straits we're in.

Robert Redford (actor, director, environmental activist and trustee of the Natural Resources Defense Council) aired an interview with Rachel Maddow about the Bush administration's Bureau of Land Management plan on November 4 for a last-minute plan to lease huge swaths of majestic wilderness in eastern Utah for oil and gas extraction one month before President-elect Obama takes office.
What can we as citizens do about this? Go the the NRDC website to TAKE ACTION NOW!! Tell the Bush administration not to let coal mining companies destroy valleys and streams!!The Bush administration is about to change a longstanding rule that would make it easier for mining companies to destroy streams and valleys by filling them with sludge, rock and other coal mining waste. Tell officials to put communities and the environment ahead of industry profit.
