how can you live with what bush has done?
double the national debt
ruin the dollar
ruin all the banks in the country
ruin all the home owners by forcing them to be foreclosed on
ruin the economy by giving oil companies all your money
raise your property taxes by 2 to 3 times
send all our jobs overseas
burn the constitution
spy on your phone calls
turn america into a police state with DHS
do you know how long this mess is gonna take to fix? what did you get out of bush's 8 years that was so great. I would really like to know. even if i flipped a home, i dont think that money is worth the above list of negative things.

Actually, it didn't begin in Iowa, it began in the hearts of two women who raised one son and grandson. And every one of us, every woman who has given her all to that quest, recognized Barack Obama immediately. We know it when we see it. I thought I'd knocked on my last door decades ago. I'm so glad I was wrong.

Mr. President,

Congratulations, pack up the memories and the lessons and the courage they gave you. Off to Washington - stake the claim for all of us Barack.

Congratulations on your win. I can not begin to tell you how proud you make me feel, how you touch my heart and how much I look forward to doing whatever I can do to be part of CHANGE in America. I believe in putting values, morals, accountability and responsibility back in our vocabulary. Of working hard and making a difference. I am soon to be 63 and I have lost everything financial/home/insurance in the past 10 years but I have not lost my spirit...I have not lost who I am...I have not lost my belief in God, in myself and in my country. I just wanted to share with you a comment my son Blake, a 7 year-old from Iowa with high functioning autism asked me this morning. He asked me, “Mom, why do they keep saying Barack is black?” I asked him, “Why do you ask, honey?” He said, “Because Mom, he’s brown!” I share with you, the innocence of an unbiased mind, a little boy who asks for society’s unbiased acceptance of him!

When I asked him who he wanted as our next President, he responded, “Barack Obama!” I asked him why? He said, “Because John MCCain doesn’t know how many houses he owns.” Blake was not being funny or sarcastic. Blake was only trying to tell me - in his own way, that he doesn’t want to lose the only home he’s ever known, our home. I said to him, “Blakey, when President-Elect Obama moves into the white house, we won’t have to worry about that anymore!”

On the eve of this historic election let us pause for a moment of thanks. We should thank God for the men and women who committed themselves to establish a new nation, in which voting was possible. We should thank God for the courage of the women of the Suffrage movement who pioneered the path to the 19th Amendment and ensured women the right to vote. We should thank God for those who risked and sacrificed their lives to pass the Voting Rights Act of 1965 to allow all our citizens, regardless of the color of their skin, to vote.

We also pray for forgiveness, that there are still some in our country whose votes are not allowed to be cast or counted, even in recent elections. We pray for protection of all the voters and the votes of this election.

We pray for the candidates, their family and their staff--who have worked tirelessly to offer the country the vision of the future they deeply believe in. Give them rest and a sense of peace, no matter what the outcome of the election. We pray for all the citizen volunteers, who have made democracy better by their work on this election campaign.

We pray most of all against a spirit of fear. The Scriptures say that "God has not given us a spirit of fear but a spirit of love, a spirit of power and a strong mind." Help us to remember the words of our Lord Jesus, who reminds us that love casts our fear and to be not afraid. If the Scriptures say, "Yea though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death I shall fear no evil," certainly we can make it through election day. No matter how we vote, let us vote more for the visions, ideas, and candidates that best represent our best values; rather than voting against candidates simply because of the negative and often manipulative things that others have said about them.

As a people of faith, we do not find in our scripture, we can not locate in any sacred text, a mandate to support a particular candidate for president or vote for a particular political party during this election. While the scriptures may not say what box we should check on election day, we must strive to be clear about the priorities of the kingdom of God and...Link

I can vouch for that! I'm out here in Spokane, WA and all my friends and I got our ballots in early. All but two counties in WA have mail-only voting so we haven't had issues with lines or waits!

barack is a christian, not a muslim. he was sworn into office, by cheney, on a bible, not the koran. barack didn't have a choice what name was given to him, so why do you want to punish somebody for their name?

you have more in common with the taliban than barack does. you oppose abortion, the taliban opposes abortion. you want to force people to live according to your religious views, the taliban forces people to live according to their religious views.

man you just dont understand that some people do not want to have a baby. is it your choice or theirs? how can you force someone to have a baby they dont want. ? ? ? why would you want someone to have a baby they dont want? ? ?

and religion is just a club , there are lots of religions out there. why try to say yours is best? get over it . we are all the same. no one is better. and maybe i dont like your middle name. does it matter what his is? he is 100 times smarter than mcbush. 1st at harvard law. a constitutional professor. its about time we had someone who is a genius in the white house.

You can't spoil our spirit tonight, but just to fact check: The quote wasn't that he WOULD punish them.... but referring to the burden of having a child when you are still a child. He used the word punish, as a synonym for burden.

Babies born to teen mothers are the most impoverished.

And he certainly doesn't mandate that women have abortions. A person is responsible for the decision themselves.

But we did vote for the man who cares about children and babies, and the well being of others. He cares more for the least of these.

And if you voted Bush twice then you really have no argument here.

don't kill me, but I'd like McCain to have AZ. He's old, he did do a lot worng, but he also did a lot correct, he served, and I think that he ran a cleaner campaign then clinton did. I'd like him to have it so when he retires there he can feel liked and wanted....of course he might retire at another one of his 8 houses :)

McCain's campaign stirred up xenophobia, rasicm, hatred, suspicion of treason against obama, and just plain catered to any psychopath out there who would do Obama harm!

Honestly, I don't think McCain is this type of person deep down, but he failed to control his campaign and listened to lousy advice. He became desperate and wanted to win at all cost, even if it meant selling his soul!

He's a grown man. He knows right from wrong. There is no excuse.

I wish John king would go county by county in NC 80% in now with 50%-50% I guess it's the big picture now and no need for the little ones, but I want it so bad cause we worked hard and so many people have been so open minded and dedicated. My gut instinct also says that Barack Obama is the new hope for the Country and all citizens probably for the first time in our lifetime. I believe he will do the right thing all the way.

This is history in the making - the first bi-racial president and the youngest and...for the first time in 4 ever real change can take place not to mention HE created a movement and brought all cultures together for the same change...THAT'S NOT ONLY AMAZING...IT'S POWERFUL!

It was an upset virtually unthinkable just a year ago, when Democrats scrambled to find a challenger to take on the well-financed and well-known Dole.

Last week, Dole aired a TV ad accusing Hagan of taking "godless money" and linking her to an atheist group called the Godless Americans political action committee.

The ad ended with a picture of Hagan and a woman's voiceover saying, "There is no God."

Hagan, who is an elder in her Presbyterian church and a former Sunday school teacher, responded with a lawsuit and her own ad, declaring, "I believe in God."

Dole's ad was widely panned, and some voters were turned off, too. "The nail in the coffin was the Godless Americans thing," .

I've followed Barack Obama's campaign, since day-one! I remember so well that cold February day in 2007, when he announced his intention to run for President! Being a "grandma" who remembers the election of John F. Kennedy, there just was something "special" about Barack from the very first time I heard him speak at the Democratic Convention several years ago. I have been so inspired by him, by his honesty, his demeanor, his "coolness", his integrity, his determination to UNITE AMERICANS AND THE WORLD, knowing that we all are ONE people! I especially have been moved by the young people, and the young Americans, the Latinos, Hispanics, Asians, the African Americans, and ALL Americans who just came out in such innocent determination to work hard, and volunteer for this campaign. After all, is it not our young people who are the future generation of Americans? And is it not a once-in-a-lifetime person who comes along to be our President and to to make our lives better? As I watch Cable TV tonight, it is astounding to me the huge crowds of people I see in Chicago, and in Harlam New York, and Times Square, and Birmingham, from coast to coast, and around the world, celebrating this honorable African American man, who has stolen the hearts of ALL of us, and who has worked tirelessly to win this election! Being the lover of music that I am, I would like to recite a song that in my mind represents America and the World and how ALL of us HOPE it could be. Perhaps this song will be familiar for some.

JUST LIKE THAT. It is done. One dream of a great man so close to being realized. The hope of millions renewed tonight. Not only did President Obama win tonight, but AMERICA has won.

Congratulations, my fellow Americans! And thank you, President Barack and First Lady Michelle Obama.

Just like that. In a few words of "We are ready to announce to you.." history was made. I hope everyone stops for a moment to pause and realize exactly what America did tonight. The scope too far reaching for a blog because it means so much to so many people. Millions of people.

You broke through and you brought it home. You picked up the ball and turned the game around in favor of American citizens. And you did so in a decent manner, with integrity intact.

Game not over. But the ball has changed hands. This is only the beginning. Always remember and never forget we will continue to stand by your side, to continue the work and to fight the good fight, and to do so fairly.

Thank you for the promise of hope. Thank you - and God - for delivering on your promise.

Once again, Congratulations and my most heartfelt thanks to President Barack and First Lady Michelle Obama. Tonight, one chapter of your life is closed, but the best of the book is yet to be written. BTW, my demographic? Rural, Female, college (Y), UNEMPLOYED by layoff. Oh - forgot: I am also white for those gathering data (and to stir the rural beehive). This is a landmark day; a great and historic day for so many Americans that have been held back by more than just economics. I know how I felt earlier tonight - ALL of it was on the line. We have this one shot. I know how I felt when they offically announced the race. I can only *imagine* the emotions running throughout. For myself, this entire process was 'about' two colors: RED and BLUE. In following your desire to reach out, the next goal is to turn the red and blue into a nice shade of...hm....green. We ALL need some GREEN.

In the meantime, I will celebrate this

Amist the joy & excitement of electing
Barack & Joe, I refect briefly on how curshed I was during the 60s with the assisnations Of President Kennedy, Martin Luther King & Sen. Robert Kennedy. I was only 10 years old when president JFK was killed , after Robert, I was desolate. My thoughts were, why vote? Of course I got over it and have voted in every election since I became eligible. The irony of it all is that as God allowed theses great men to go home He was sending Barack (1961). Their call to service and a young death was not in vain. We have truly elected a president for all of the people.
I am a conservative democrat who voted for Bush. You brought me back!

I will pray for you and your families daily. I pledge to listen to all of your speeches & to support this administration in anyway possible.

I just wanted to share with you a comment my son Blake, a 7 year-old from Iowa with high functioning autism asked me this morning. He asked me, “Mom, why do they keep saying Barack is black?” I asked him, “Why do you ask, honey?” He said, “Because Mom, he’s brown!” I share with you, the innocence of an unbiased mind, a little boy who asks for society’s unbiased acceptance of him!
When I ask him who he wants to see as our next President, he responds, “Barack Obama!” I asked him why? He said, “Because John MCCain doesn’t know how many houses he owns.” Blake was not being funny or sarcastic. Blake was only trying to tell me - in his own way, that he doesn’t want to lose the only home he’s ever known, our home. I said to him, “Blakey, when Senator Obama becomes our President, we won’t have to worry about that anymore!”

Wow. I was born in Ia and lived there until 1974. When I lived in IA it was a Blue state and I'm glad to see it blue again. I now live in CA, Silicon valley and I decided to volunteer for Obama in August 2007 after seeing him at a Woman For Obama event in San Francisco. When I contacted an African American friend of mine, she was skeptical he could win. When he won IA, I called her and said see if he can win in IA he can win anywhere.

Yesterday afternoon she called me, she had travled to NV doing door to door, I was in CA making calls on N2N. Yes We did!! Last night I celebrated at the Silicon Valley party. Thank You IA!
