From Sweden. I still almost cannot believe that the next President of the United States is Barack Obama. I remember last year, leading up to Iowa, and how I just got up in the morning, checked the results and felt like yelling YES!! when I saw who won the state.

I still feel like its a Hollywood movie, and I wish President-Elect Obama and Vice President-Elect Biden all the very, very best in the upcoming years. To me, the promise of USA is back on Jan 20.

I remember november 5th as well, just going to work with a huge smile on my face.

2008 felt like a very long year for me, just following every single caucus and primary from up here, staying up late at night unable to do anything but hope for an Obama win. Being able to do nothing is really tough, let me tell you. Especially for a whole year!

I would love to visit USA now. Love to.

when I was a teenager a l-o-o-o-n-g time ago, one day realising that when my GreatGrandfather left Ireland in 1850, all he had was the shirt on his back, and HOPE! Knowing he would never see his family again, not knowing if the ship would make it, or if he would survive, he left for a new life. Evidently he did pretty well, as there are many descendants living now as proof of what a heart filled with hope can accomplish, and how much can be achieved if we are not afraid to work hard for what we want. Happy New Year to everyone, finally it is 2009. Barack Obama will be President, soon. Blessing to all!

They made'em strong back then -
My Grandfather left home at 11 and made it on his own, first working at a grocery store and sleeping on the floor, then taking over the grocery store, etc. - in Springfield Illinois!

My 'wunderlust' father discovered New York during WWII, where he was in boot camp at Fort Schuyler. He fell in love with New York City and my parents raced little sailboats on the Hudson as a young couple.

I should have grown up on a farm - but oh well -

The strength of our ancestors makes us believe we can survive anything - and we can.

My mother and her brothers were up milking cows and doing other chores before walking a couple of miles through fields to get to school only to be strapped by the teacher for being late. ..suffice to say she left school at year 8 and self educated

Little did we know a year ago where Obama would be today. What a year! Listening to him last New Year's Eve brought it all back. It was just 3 days before the Iowa caucus. Then he could not be stopped no matter who, no matter what. And God knows they tried to stop him at every turn. Finally, finally November 4th came.

I second what others posted that you really did keep us going. There were days when your videos were the only highlight!

And such an array of music - think I'll go search out your Imagine clip right now! (loved hearing that playing in the background at Times Square in the minutes leading up to midnight!)

One of the most memorable pictures in my mind of the last year was the night Barack Obama won the Iowa Caucus, and the looks on all of the Hillary Clinton supporters standing behind her as she gave her concession speech! They ALL looked completely angry and shell-shocked at the news of that evening!! Madeline Albright looked like she was eating nails, and Bill Clinton looked like he couldn't believe what had happened! That was long before his "it's like a fairytale" speech.
A glorious night that was!! An AWESOME victory!

Thanks for the memories Barack and Michelle Obama and those beautiful daughters of yours, Sasha and Melia. May God protect you now and through every day of your journey in the next (4) years and beyond as you lead our Nation out of the mire we now find ourselves in, and into a new America we ALL will be proud of! I really miss my daily routine following the election, especially this "spectacular blog". There were people from around the world who stopped by here. There were a few "bad apples" in the bunch, however, it didn't spoil our spirit and resolve to elect Barack Obama as our President! I am already impressed and encouraged with his new website. I wasn't even aware that Barack won Iowa until the next day.

My father was in the hospital at the time and I had a friend going through some stuff so I lost track of politics.

The next morning when I visited my father at the hospital I opened up the paper and saw a photo of Barack smiling- and then I smiled- had a good feeling. Things were 'stirring' :)

It was sooooo wonderful to have such support from all the people who were non-Americans from all over the world. Thank you. All of you who posted here with your support, were just amazing help.

Amazing too, that some of you were having interrupted sleep patterns just like many of us. I never got so little sleep for such a long time. I was totally consumed by this election. I just had so much emotionally at stake with this election, like never before. I believed just that much in Barack Obama. I think it's safe to say that many Americans felt that way and not only the ones who participated at this site.

That's why I dropped in tonight - I figured it would be fitting to see in the New Year in the place where I probably spent more time in 2008 than I did sleeping or doing anything else!

It was quite a ride.

While I recognize many of this nation's and the world's problems will take much time to resolve, I am so hopeful for the coming year - personally and on a national and global level.

As much as I would love to burn the midnight oil with everyone here I have come to the realization that I am getting old and even New Year's Eve/New Year's Day can't keep me awake.

Earlier hubby and I went out for pizza, he had a beer, I had an ice tea of the non-alcoholic variety. Afterwards we visited with some friends in the neighborhood and were home by 10:30 PM.

We were snuggled together at the stroke of midnight, had our celebratory kiss, I came here to wish everyone a Happy New Year and fought like the devil to stay awake.

NO WAY, NO HOW, NO STAYING AWAKE FOR ME.

And so on that note I once again want to wish you all from the bottom of my heart a Happy New Year.

I'll be back for AM Roll Call. Those partying enjoy and those like myself sleep tight. Sweet dreams for 2009.

I just watched this video. Was it only a year ago? He is my hero. My 3 year old son will always take Obama granted, the good that he is going to do, the goodwill that he has already helped us restore to the country after the drought. I am so grateful for this moment, this time, that is ours.

Don't wait for things to get better or change- make it so. Make a resolution to Be the Change.

What can you do now? They do not have to take much time or many people. Some ideas... 1. Collect clothes or food from the neighborhood (or get your hand on some and give it to your neighborhood). 2. GIVE $5 -- yes 5 to a charity of your choice. This campaign is fueled by those who gave $5 and see what happened! 3. Organize a meeting in your community and see what interests the group- raising money for new books or computers for the school or park equipment- finding donations for a community center couch or entertainment. 4. Bring food over or help prepare- a soup kitchen or volunteer fire department. 5. Take 1 hour to stop by the nursing home and play some cards, run bingo, or play some music. 6. Clean up some of the trash or weeds in the neglected lot or home nearby. 7. Clean the walks and drive of an elderly neighbor OR offer to drive them or pick something else for them. 8. next time at a sit down restaurant you see someone in uniform - tell the host you want to put some money down toward their meal or pay for it. 9. Do a recycle drive for paper or plastics and take it to the center. 10. Collect blankets for an animal rescue group or for the homeless.

My intentions are:

1. don't let the little things bother me too much.

2. Suffer fools a little more gladly, as long as they don't take up too much of my time.

I sound a lot less cranky than I really am. :)

I actually really admire your intentions. Particularly on the blankets for animal rescue.

Also, I spent New Year Eve at Sea World today. I love animals. It was a good day. The Dolphin calf let me pet. I was/am happy.

Funny thing is, a person asked for my assistance in getting the calf to let her pet. We did it and then she tried to thank me. Told her kids, say "thank you" to the nice lady and all that bit. I just don't know how to respond to that so I ignored it and I think I hurt her feelings.

That's what I mean when I say, try not to let the little things bother me.

as most who know who follow this blog i was die hard hillary all the way until she dropped out last june. i took her lead and put my full support for obama afterwords. 1 year ago i supported the person i thought would have made a good president in hillary. she did not win and i just closed ranks behind barack. at first i did not know if i would be recieved well here last june but to my suprize i was welcomed. a few still sprew hatred at hillary but most came to if not like but respect her. if i can put the bitter primary battle behind me then some anti-hillary people can do the same. there are a few here that will never give hillary a break but well i tell them to just get over their hatred and start accepting. anyway happy new year to all. just 19 days left from the stranglehold bush/cheney held on us for 8 long hellish years!

But here's the thing. It won't just be talk in a few weeks. And all the hanger ons you've got. The sick idiots that still get off on who they "beat" and all the harangue.

Today, I heard someone say. Well, Hillary will be all right because she's got a good boss. Barack and Joe and that dude that's in charge of defense. I said, "Do you think that Joe and that due in charge of defense are all Hillary's bosses?" Well, yeah.

I said, that's why you'll be picking up garbage all your life. You're a black man that can't understand. It's not Barack helping Hillary. It's Hillary helping Barack.

Well, you'd have thought the world would end. Barack won the election! Barack beat Hillary! You got to know who's in charge, yada, yada, yada.

I said, "well, Hillary's not confirmed yet. Maybe she won't get it. Then what you gonna do? Who's your first choice for SOS after Barack's first choice is gone?"

At the end of the day, this is Barack's administration. He's the one who is going to be hanging with his ass out on a limb if things go wrong. I think he picked the best people he could. That some of you denigrate and castigate those choice is damned foolish.

New Delhi: Despite mounting outrage over Pakistan's inaction against those who perpetrated the Mumbai terror rampage - that provoked many in India to call for punitive military action - the Indian government and experts have repudiated calls for Israel-like air strikes saying such an "impractical" move could be counterproductive.

"We have strongly criticised that attack and we have urged Israel to stop those attacks," Home Minister Palaniappan Chidambaram told reporters here on Wednesday.

Chidambaram hopes Pak will tread the ‘right path’

"So that incident or that event, (Israeli air strikes) we cannot draw any lessons for the way we deal with Pakistan," Chidamabaram said when asked whether New Delhi has drawn lessons from Israeli airstrikes.

Minister of State for External Affairs Anand Sharma also ruled out any military action against Islamabad and argued that India was a mature democracy and military strikes did not make any sense when diplomatic channels were available to make Pakistan fall in line.

"Answering through military action is not child's play when we are a part of a globalised world. We want to resolve all our differences in a peaceful manner. Nevertheless, our security agencies are capable enough to meet any eventuality," Sharma told reporters in Chandigarh on Wednesday.

The government's view is being reinforced by seasoned diplomats and Pakistan experts.

"India simply can't do an Israel-like operation because the situations are radically different. It's impractical. In the case of Israel, they are attacking a defenceless population with no comparable military might," G Parthasarathy, India's former ambassador to Pakistan, said.

"On the other hand, India is dealing with a country with a well-organised military machine and nuclear weapons," the former envoy said.

India asks Israel to observe 'utmost restraint'

India's response to cross-border terrorism stands out in stark contrast to Israel's military action against Hamas militia in Palestine. India can't afford to go the Israel way as it will alienate large sections of international opinion that are wary of unilateral adventurism, pointed out a diplomat who did not wish to be named.

However, there is a growing popular clamour to bring Pakistan to account with ordinary citizens writing angry letters in the newspapers and airing their outrage in numerous TV talk shows and internet blogs.

With this popular outrage as a backdrop, the Indian government is asking the international community to intensify

Rang in the New Year with, probably, a snore - had to wake up at dawn, so - I'm no longer 20 - oh well!

While I'm not holding the Obama meetings in my house, because of my ongoing experience with the campaign and the Obama website,

I'm crystal-ball-sure I'll be handling the online aspect of our newly formed group -

Adobe has a new, beta suite called "Adobe ConnectNow", Obama site has Groups, and Google has a lot in place. I have no clue how to use MySpace or Facebook.

I'm looking for a way to just keep the group informed - I want it exclusive to the group - that's why Google's good - because I'd have to email you and you'd have to log in in order to access the calendar and documentation.

Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!

Happy New Year!!! I straggled out of bed at 9am. We had fun last night, eating and drinking and cavorting with friends, finishing it out sitting on the floor and playing a rousing game of Screw You! (a CARD game) We were home by 1:15...not too naughty... ;D

Later today, hubby and I will have our little Christmas, since he didn't get home until the 28th.

Oh, what a gorgeous hotel the Obamas (and secret service) will be staying in until Bush frees up the place across the street for them on the 15th. I CANNOT BELIEVE Bush denied the Obama's request to move in early so the children could begin school. Bush never stops surprising me. I don't care if the King of Siam was to stay there, Bush should have freed it up.

President-Elect Barack Hussein Obama said that he cannot do it without US!!

I'm afraid I speak too quickly sometimes and did so during the campaign; I made a promise that if BO won I'd lose weight. Well, he won big time. So I'm going to keep my promise, but I got 180 pounds to lose. But y'all know what I've been saying to myself?
"If Barack Obama can become President of the United States, surely I can lose 180 pounds. I don't have to raise any money, I don't have to travel to 47 states, I don't have to shoot 3 point shots from the floor or travel with an entourage of SS. I don't have young children anymore (excuse for baking goodies) or a husband or a friend right now. The only thing keeping me from losing the weight is the fact that I am an outrageous cook & I love to eat!!! Pooh, Pooh!!

Now I have help, the Bush Administration has left this country so broke, I can't afford to buy groceries like I used to. I buy fresh veggies from the farms here in season and I freeze what I can for the winter, but I can't buy brand names or meat (which I don't need either) and the whole wheat bread I like is now almost $4 a loaf. There are ways to cut back, like my Sweet Potato Cake. It's like a Carrot Cake only better (mho) but to buy flour, eggs, etc and make it from scratch cost too much. I pondered it for several days and then I thought I try an experiment, I bought a box of Spice Cake Mix, added the grated sweet potato and some more cinnamon & mace and followed tthe directions on the box. It was a lot smaller than my usual cake, but it was tasty and all gone in one sitting with 5 people drinking tea/cocoa and eating the cake!! I didn't feel guilty one bit, I had one piece and it was gone and I didn't have to worry about eating the leftover cake!!

Lose weight? YES I CAN!!

They are never going away. That's why Obama needs us to report for duty.

First assignment is to participate on line at Change.gov.

Second, per the campaign, we are going to have to watch C-Span and stay on top of the issues.

From change.gov, pick an area to focus on nationally and locally.

Basically, (for those of us who were not active or not very active) stay active! and for the active -- continue being active.

I believe Kennedy said it best and it is truer now than ever before,

"Ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country"

and then do it!

I thought the DaVinci code was the most sophomoric ridiculously hypothesized piece of Paris-Hilton I've read - the movie? - well it was plain Palin-ish.

However, the writer made a lot of money.

Enjoyed the 'overseas', etc. comments.

I'm trying to do absolutely everything today - so my guess is little or nothing will be truly accomplished.

However - I did create a Google Group for our new Obama meetings - Members Only exclusive so we can post files, etc. I thought Groups had a Calendar - but no - you have to create that over in some other part of Google.

Everything's a learning curve I guess -

What is Israel suppose to do allow hamas to continue to fire rockets into their cities, allow them to continue to smuggle weapons. Hamas broke the cease fire, Hamas killed first,

Should Israel negotiate with a group that has vowed to wipe Israel off the map.

Nations have the right to defend themselves. Hamas can stop the violence.

Here's a radical idea for Israel - instead of bombing every place from which Hamas launches a rocket, they *help* the people of Gaza in some way. Use the tanks to deliver a piece of medical equipment to a clinic, or deliver a new pc to a school. Or here's something really out there - use the tanks to escort a few trucks carrying a prefab building, and construct it to replace a building that was destroyed by one of their bombs.

Is that ridiculous? Naive? Would the Palestinians even accept them? Would the Palestinians still hate Israel? Would Hamas continue to bomb Israel if Israel continued to respond with medical equipment and pc's and buildings? If Hamas did continue to bomb, is there a point at which some Palestinians would say Hamas should stop?

Much has been reported of Obama learning from leaders in US history, eg Lincoln. Are there leaders in the world's history who might set an example for Israel? Two that come to mind are Mandela and Gandhi. How would Jesus respond to Hamas?

When Ehud Barak says "It's all out war", isn't he being naive to think that statement will deter Hamas? Are those the words of a leader, or someone who wants revenge?

Israel was first to brake the cease fire on Nov. 16th; and now they're killing innocent Palestinian children because there's an election coming up in Israel and the republicans (or equivalent of it) want to win.

Israel says that the massacre of children and other civilians is only "collateral damage." OMG HOW SAD!!

You are correct, G. Laverne, both are at fault, and you shouldn't allow anyone to force you to choose sides when both parties know what needs to be done.

Is a one ton bomb dropped in the most densely populated area in the world a suitable response? The Bush administration has armed them with the most sophisticated weapons of mass destruction, the most powerful of which arrived a month ago. Anyone who thinks the Bush administration was not aware of this attack is naive.

Exactly who decided that America could sell and donate weapons to Israel while Iran can not arm the Palestinians. The same people supporting the Israeli attacks are the same who condemned Russia's invasion of Georgia.

What would you do if a country was blockading the delivery of food, fuel and medicine, restricting the flow of electricity and not passing on the money collected in taxes that belongs to the Palestinian people.

What Israel has done is solidify the Palestinians as Abbas has ended paece talks and is condemning Israel's actions. The gov'ts of Egypt, Jordan and Saudi Arabia are also being put into the position of also condemning them.

I was looking for a quote which I used in an earlier post, but then I read the whole speech (something I think we do a lot of is repeat the line we know with out the full context -- I'm guilty). I was struck how we could replace 1961 with 2009 and P.E. Obama could just read it! It was fascinating. Take a look:

HONOLULU – President-elect Barack Obama will have a Commander in Chief's Ball during his inauguration with military personnel, their spouses and those wounded fighting in the ongoing wars in Iraq and Afghanistan as guests.

In announcing this Thursday, officials said that tickets for the Jan. 20 military-only ball will be free to guests. The formal event will be at the National Building Museum in Washington.

"It is a privilege to honor our men and women in uniform during our inaugural festivities by continuing the tradition of the Commander in Chief's Ball. Our troops represent the best America has to offer, and without their dedication and sacrifice we would not be able to enjoy the freedoms that we are coming together to celebrate on January 20," Obama said in a statement released while he vacationed here in his native Hawaii.

"They deserve our thanks and our gratitude. Michelle and I look forward to attending the Commander in Chief's Ball and sharing this special evening with representatives of our armed forces," his statement said.

Aides say most of the guests will be enlisted personnel and junior officers. Others will be active duty military members, active duty National Guard and National Guard Reserve members. The guest list also will featured those injured in military actions, families of those killed in combat and spouses of those deployed.

Obama and wife, Michelle, are scheduled to attend 10 official inaugural balls. Scores of other events are planned for the celebration and crowds variously estimated as high as in the millions are expected to descend on Washington.

President George W. Bush first had a ball to specifically honor the uniformed services.

Officials have not yet determined how tickets will be distributed.

Our PE and his staff have just about done everything right in this transition period. One thing that has happened is that he is keeping most of his promises made during the campaign. He is the president for all of America. This gesture to people and their spouses in the armed forces and the national guard is just about the most decent thing that he has done. This is just great!!!!!

This country is blessed that, at least, in these turbulent times, we have someone who has such a great team behind him. He and his team are literally changing the way politics is done in America. I just hope that he gets out of the White House at least four times each year to hear directly from the people. Doing this will keep him humble as he goes from one success to another. For a president, this is a prerequisite.

(CNN) — President-elect Barack Obama plans to meet with key Capitol Hill leaders on Monday to discuss his economic stimulus plan, according to congressional sources who say precise scheduling is underway.

One Democratic leadership aide tells CNN specifically that House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid will sit down with the president-elect one day before calling the new Congress into session.

A meeting involving the Republican leaders is also under discussion, sources say, but details are being worked out.

New Year's Eve: Des Moines One Year Ago | Report to Admin

Our son, York, and his partner Hal have a long history in Des Moines, IA of restoring Victorian homes in the Sherman Hills area of the city. They have been working on a large 7,000 square foot mansion for several years. Last New Year's Eve the mansion's main floor had been beautifully restored, not completed, but lovely with huge Christmas Trees in each of the parlors and entryways. The three fire place mantels were also beautiful with floral arrangements and gorgoeous ribbons flowing down. The 2nd floor was still in its original "unrestored and pretty awful" state. The outside of the mansion still looked like the Munster's lived there. There were special guests for New Year's Eve -- Senator Obama and his family. It seems so "right" to me that the Obama staff chose this home in Des Moines where Change was underway to celebrate before the Iowa Caucuses. I often wonder what Barack thought when he drove up to the "Munster" outside.

Our daughter also attended and couldn't believe how gracious Barack was when he came over to her and said, "Hi, I'm Barack" because she was the only person there he did not know since it was just a gathering for family and friends. She was just standing next to a Secret Service man and never in the world expected to be noticed. What an exceptionally caring person he is to make everyone comfortable.

This Christmas I framed several of the pictures for York and Hal with an explanation of the event mounted on the back. Hopefully, they will remain with the house.

It hardly seems possible that a year has passed since the Iowa Caucuses. What a year--what a memory for our family.

I posted on previous post, near the end, so I decided I would re-post for anyone I may have missed.

Being a Canadian, I want to express my gratitude to all of you. You helped me so much over the last 2 years, especially with coming to this blog each day and reading all the comments. I did not post often due to my stroke, but my heart was with each of you during primaries and GE.

As I look back on 2008, the one thing I am so thankful for is the election of Barack. And, it was due to you, my neighboring brothers & sisters.

Please continue to stand with PE Obama and ignore the trivial matters, like Warren, etc. Keep in mind PE's first MAJOR achievement which occurred minutes after the announcement on Nov. 4th - an instantaneous return to respect of the USA by other nations.

President-elect Barack Obama will have a Commander in Chief's Ball during his inauguration with military personnel, their spouses and those wounded fighting in the ongoing wars in Iraq and Afghanistan as guests.

In announcing this Thursday, officials said that tickets for the Jan. 20 military-only ball will be free to guests. The formal event will be at the National Building Museum in Washington.

"It is a privilege to honor our men and women in uniform during our inaugural festivities by continuing the tradition of the Commander in Chief's Ball. Our troops represent the best America has to offer, and without their dedication and sacrifice we would not be able to enjoy the freedoms that we are coming together to celebrate on January 20," Obama said in a statement released while he vacationed here in his native Hawaii.

President-elect Obama is planning an inaugural ball exclusively for members of the military, and his Presidential Inauguration Committee is working with the Defense Department to have the bash broadcast around the world.

The worldwide broadcast would be a first. The new president and his wife, Michelle, are likely to drop by the event for a dance and brief remarks.

I noticed something for the first time last night and today---calmness. Georgia is a state that does not permit the use of fireworks. Yes, it is illegal for individual citizens to use fireworks. Actually, it is loosely enforced, and people travel across the border to South Carolina and purchase. New Year's and the Fourth of July are just heydays for firework users inclusive of firecrackers, cherry bombs, and rockets. This year was different. There were a few firecrackers, only. I guess people are conserving because of our economic condition. Was it calm for anyone else???

It was quiet here in central TX, too, but that's because we're in the middle of a bad drought and public safety led to outlawing individual possession and use of fireworks here, too.

Per Politico:

Obama, Pelosi and Reid will meet with Senate Republican leader Mitch McConnell and House minority leader Republican John Boehner, who have expressed concern about the cost of the economic stimulus package, the source said.

Obama’s meeting with Pelosi and Reid will take place in Reid’s office. The discussion including House and Senate Republican leaders will be held on the Senate side of the Capitol.

The meetings come the day before the new Congress reconvenes, when lawmakers are expected to move quickly on an economic stimulus package - legislation that Obama has made his incoming administration's top priority.

Obama's meetings with Democrat and Republican Congressional leaders come the day his family's relocation to Washington, D.C. on Sunday, and they are among his first moves in what is expected to be a strong push to pass the massive economic recovery package.

Hillary will have to rethink her position on annihilation as well. The entire Middle East is already volatile. Hopefully, she will assume a facilitator position right dead in the middle; otherwise, we will continue to be viewed as Anti-Muslim.

Like a lot of folks in this country, I have a job. I work, they pay me. I
pay my taxes and the government distributes my taxes as it sees fit. In
order to get that paycheck, I am required to pass a random urine test
with which I have no problem. What I do have a problem with is the
distribution of my taxes to people who don't have to pass a urine test.

Shouldn't one have to pass a urine test to get a welfare check because I
have to pass one to earn it for them? Please understand, I have no
problem with helping people get back on their feet. I do, on the other
hand, have a problem with helping someone sitting on their ass doing
drugs, while I work.
. . . Can you imagine how much money the state would save if people had
to pass a urine test to get a public assistance check?

Pass this along if you agree or simply delete if you don't. Hope you all
will pass it along, though. . Some thing has to change in this country
-- and soon!!!!!!!

I'm a conservative Democrat I'd say, and at my spouse's job they have random drug testing. In his job, if anyone's intoxicated it would have VERY deleterious effects and every professional there strongly supports the urine test.

Addiction runs in families. In our family tree there's an impressive line of alcoholics and some mental illness, to the point I have a drink, once a year - maybe. I'm terrified of leaning toward our family's dark side.

My point is that urine testing on people who don't have a job can't be legally justified.

To improve our social and health situation we need to look to countries who are better off than we are.

In industrialized countries "family planning" is a given. Countries with a better infant mortality rate, health and education rate than the United States are strong proponents of family planning and support reproductive rights.

Even newly developing countries like China who limit one child per family have had success, as did India by giving poor people a lump sum/bribe for either a vasectomy or a tubal ligation.

Our country is caught up in ultra Christian Extremist Fundamentalism.

We were more sophisticated, successful and educated back in the early to mid-1900's.

We cannot curb the cycle of addiction, however we can curb the number of children who have a propensity of addiction and the cycle of welfare.

I'll probably be shot down for it, but looking at the precedent of countries who are more successful battling this better than we do - I don't want to reinvent the wheel.

We should all be so proud of brave Americans who voted away from prejudice to elect a man who represents the greatest hope for the average American.
That being said, action is required for our safety. Because of the plummeting prices of crude oil, there is currently a huge amount of crude oil being stored in tankers off the coasts of this country and throughout the world waiting upward price movement before delivery. Long term tanker oil storage presents a low risk target for terrorists with dire consequences for our coast lines and the environment. We need an executive order to download this surplus into safe strategic reserve storage containment. This action not only safeguards us but allows for price stabilization in future supply constrictions from OPEC and other supplier nations.
