OVER TWO MILLION MILES DONATED!!! |
Report to Admin
By
Michele from Huntington Beach, CA
May 13th 2008 at 6:20 pm EDT
Thanks to the generosity of many who donated their valuable frequent flyer miles, we’ve sent 29 out-of-state volunteers to TX / OH, 32 to PA, 17 to IN / NC, 1 to WV, 1 to OR, 1 to KY, and 6 to MT.
This means ***2,175,000 MILES*** have been donated to date -- putting ***87 VOLUNTEERS*** on the ground, helping bring it home for Barack.
VOLUNTEERS: If you want to spend a week or more in SD or MT, but can't afford to pay your own way, contact me and I'll try to match you with an airline ticket. (WV, OR, and KY are too soon, and we can’t send you to Puerto Rico; it takes too many miles as PR is considered the Caribbean, not the U.S.)
DONORS: It takes 25,000 miles for a ticket. So -- who's got at least 25,000 on the same airline which they'd like to donate toward making sure Barack Obama is our next President?
Step right up -- I'm getting requests almost daily from volunteers who want to help but can't afford the airfare. Donate now, please, so we can get these people where they're most needed. No miles? Perhaps you can help pay airfare or meal/hotel expenses.
Please call me at 714-536-6104 California time. (Don't reply on the blogs; I probably won't see your response.)

It's a last ditch effort. She is trying to make a point, but noone is listening. The MSM is trying to help her make her case, but noone is listening. Many are voting to keep her in the race, because thats what she told them their vote will do, but it won't.

Considering the kind of comments coming from people that say they won't vote for him, it's not so much a defeat as it is a confirmation that there are some very non-progressive people in the Democratic party and sometimes they are concentrated in a couple of states.
There was a voter quoted on ABC today who said she just doesn't believe him when he says he's a Christian.
I'm not going to agonize over getting her vote. She has lived through several adminstrations that have done little for her state yet she won't even consider giving a fair hearing to the background of a guy that is the most likely to relate to her and help her.

When he has a DJ and strobe lights, they say he is too out of touch, and rockstars can't be presidents. Now that he gives a serious economic address, it's boring. The MSM will want to have Barack elected to the nomination, if only for the ratings. Nothing will be more boring than a General Election between BILLary and McDeath. Candy it is really not much the pundits can say as most declared last week that it was "over" for Hillary. She was expected to win big so there is not really a story there. Of course they will use the same Obama has a problem with "working class whites" as a talking point but what else is new? Even Keith O said they would be on tonight but he did not know what they would be talking about. We are ahead by all measures so there is no real way for Hillary and her campaign to spin this. I just hope that she is woman enough to take a win and exit on a high note and not look to take the low road. We have moved on to the general election and it seems that the MSM have to.

Sandra don't worry about Chris Matthews. From what you are saying he is already doing a 360 from what he was saying this morning. Someone else posted on an earlier thread that this morning Chris Matthews said that the people in WVA made their minds up in 1957 and would simply not vote for Barack because he is black. Now he is saying that Barack has a problem with "white working class" voters. This is the reason why I have refused to watch MSM today. The pundits have to stir up controversy or else they would have very low ratings. Don't be discouraged. Keep your head up and focus on McCain and the general as Barack and this campaign is doing.

Ever since the first caucus in January we have been in first place by all the various indices. Despite the expected little speed bump tonight we will prevail all the way to the White House.

Thank you Obama Puppy! They are trying to create opinion and if people are weak enough they will succeed. It is the strong that laugh at this simply because who do they think have voted for him. West Virginia is one state of many and of course as usual according to HRC it is the one that matters. Except it only matters to her that she wins at this point. Our challenge will be to bring enough new voters into the process come November that will negate the effect of people who won't vote for him. That's what he's been doing and will continue to do. That is what a grassroots movement is about.

Now that Obama is our presumptive nominee, we need to focus on beating John McShame, and this is how.
1)Obama MUST pick a strong running mate that helps reinforce his message of change. Adding Hillary works AGAINST that message, as does Wes Clark, since that would be an obvious move to counter McShame's foreign policy "strength". We need a governor - I'd suggest Sebelius or Kaine.
2)Obama should host town halls and debates with John McShame, that way there is an obvious and clear contrast with Obama. McShame will show his true colors with his short temper, and his inexperience with the economy, healthcare, jobs, and gas prices.
3)We need to GOTV in ALL states - that's right, ALL 50 states. And when we GOTV, we've been able to close the gap in many states that Hillary was supposed to win, I believe we can do the same against McSame.
4)Ignore the MSM. While they will be partially focused on McShame, they will continue to attack Obama until the election, trying to paint McShame as an experienced military hero, and Obama as an inexperienced, one-term Senator that doesn't know what he is doing.
5)Concentrate on getting Hillary voters, and cutting into McShame's base of voters. We will need all the voters we can get in order to get Barack Obama into the WH in November.
6)Remember: YES WE CAN!!! EVEN WHEN IT ISN'T EASY!!!

Sen WEBB for VP---Yes!!!!
On the contrary, Sebelius is NOT a good choice for VP.
Plus, she doesn't provide the military/veteran experience to the ticket that Obama really, really needs.
During the general election, it's the White male vote that counts MORE than the White female vote.
But, in terms of getting the male vote, Kaine is NOT as good as Webb. I believe he served in Iraq?
Webb or maybe even Hagel are the best choices for VP.

Risky Move By Sen. Obama |

May 13th 2008 at 6:35 pm EDT
Sen. Obama has made it clear to his biggest donors that he does not want them to fund independent Democratic groups--the type that make 527 ads to counter swiftboat ads.
On the one hand it means he can control his message on the other hand, he'll have to use his resources to fend of ads coming from who knows where.
This is a bold move with some risks. I have to trust his gut on this one:
“From the beginning of this race Obama has told supporters that if they want to help his effort, they should do so through his campaign,” said Obama spokesman Bill Burton, who confirmed that Pritzker has told donors not to give to the groups. “And he means exactly what he says.”
Most presidential candidates say they don't encourage the outside groups, and donors are accustomed to taking those words with a grain of salt. The candidates' words are typically seen as mere legal defenses against allegations that the campaigns are illicitly coordinating with outside groups.
The donors have been considering entreaties from Progressive Media USA, run by conservative-journalist turned liberal media critic David Brock; from former Clinton aide John Podesta’s Fund for America; and from America Votes, a group backed by billionaire George Soros that focuses on voter mobilization, among other efforts.
But in recent days, major donors have begun to conclude that Obama is serious in trying to cut off funds to the outside groups."

Obama has to impress upon women in particular McCain's changing views as far as abortion. And being a woman Hilary should know that we can't afford McCain to get in there this election I just hope and pray she shares that belief.

Once the general starts and he Clinton supporters come out from under the drunk fog they will come bace to reality: McCain = George W. Bush.
That's a no brainer. Just let them get through their grief first, then we'll all be together.

I think that a lot of that attitude omes from HRO's negativity and divisive tone. As an Obama supporter I think that a vote for HRC is a vote for the very worst of old style politics.
I would not be enthusiastic about voting for HRC if she were to be the nominee. I would probably not vote. That statistic doesn't get reported in the MSM.
I would also be very disturbed if HRC were to be selected as his running mate. I think that we Obama supporters are just as passionate about Obama as HRC supporters are of her just withut the venom. And that Obama supporters don't necessarily feel that HRC would be a good choice for running mate - but we are not so nasty about t.

I really believe that Senator Obama is a very informed person. I am sure he knows what type of people the Clintons are. During the Clinton Administration there were 18 people who died under his administration. With Hillary at his VP he is aware that he and Michelle would not last a night in the white house. Remember what she did to the travel services that had been handling the travel service for the white house, Hillary falsely accused the person of misusing the funds. It is true, Hillary is a very dangerous person.

Obama comfortably ahead in Oregon
Barack Obama is already counting on a win in the Oregon primary next week to put him over the top in pledged delegates -- and allow him to declare victory on that key measure.
A new poll suggests that triumph is a pretty safe bet. Done for the Portland Tribune and KPTV, it shows Obama with a 55 percent to 35 percent lead over Hillary Clinton. She is likely to face inexorable pressure to withdraw if she doesn't win in both Kentucky, where she is ahead in the poll, and in Oregon next Tuesday.
"Barring a disaster, Barack Obama's going to win Oregon, and he may win it very big," pollster Tim Hibbits told the Tribune.

I think we all have to keep one thing in perspective and that is that Barack Obama only needs 33 more pledged delegates to close out the primary win. The primary is about delegates-not popular vote-regardless of Clinton spin and the majority of SD's will vote with that rule in mind.
If we assume worst case scenario in the next 3 elections, West Virginia, Kentucky and Oregon this is what that would look like:
WV-70%-30% Clinton win. Obama wins 8 delegates
Kentucky-70%-30% Clinton win: Obama wins 15 delegates
Oregon-split 50%-50%. Obama wins 26 delegates.
The polls in Oregon are in Obama's favor and the Kentucky polls are in Clinton's favor-but not as much as the analysis above.
The net result is after these 3 races, Obama wins a total of 49 delegates and wins the primary. The SD flow will turn into a massive flood starting next Wednesday and bring this race to a close sooner than anyone thinks.

Remember Oregon is almost finished voting, and the latest polls give Obama a 15-20 point lead which would give him a net gain of 30+ delegates in Oregon not the 26 I used in the analysis above.
However, there is another way to look at it. Right now Barack has a 171 pledged delegate lead with only 217 left. For Clinton to overtake him she'd have to win 195 of the 217 left or 90%. A 70-30 win for her is actually a loss and here's why.
If she wins tonight by 70-30, she gets 20 delegates and Obama gets 8. Obama's delegate lead drops to 159. There would be 189 delegates left and she'd have to win 175 of the remaining 189 or 93% of the remaining delegates to catch him-a mathematical impossibility.
Obama will clinch in Oregon. That you can take to the bank.

Lobbying has devastated our government, taken it from the people and giving it to the rich elites, corporations, and corrupt power brokers.
Barack Obama intends to put an end to Washington's sordid affairs with lobbyists.
In his speech given in Des Moines, IA in Nov. 2007, Obama warned lobbyists that their days were numbered. Not allowing lobbyist to fund his campaign, means he owes them no invites to his White House.
This is a synopsis of what Barack's plan covers:
1. Shine the light on Washington Lobbying
2. Shine the light on Federal Contracts, Tax Breaks and Earmarks
3. Bring Americans Back into their Government
4. Free the Executive Branch from Special Interest Influence
He is also encouraging us all to get involved in this change, by asking us to "speak our minds and help set the policies that will guide this campaign and change the country."
Present your ideas
Link
Barack Obama and John McCain are like night and day when it comes to accepting lobbying practices. McCain is neck deep in these sorts of lobbying relationships. Within the past few days, " two McCain aides have resigned because of their willingness to do public relations work for the Burmese Junta." And now it has come to our attention that he has "three lobbyists in the top levels of his organization that have lobbied for ruthless dictators."
Link
Excerpt from Huffington Post. article:
John McCain ought to immediately fire three lobbyists -- Charlie Black, Tom Loeffler, and Peter Madigan -- whose lobbying for brutal dictators and foreign governments is every bit as bad as the two lobbyists who left his campaign over the weekend. Frankly, McCain's campaign is turning out to be an effort of, by, and for these types of Washington influence peddlers. His credentials as a reformer are gone.
Barack Obama is giving this government back to the people, so we can say no to the powers that be, who don't have our interests at heart.
A petition has also been created by a campaignmoney.org. blogger, that provides an opportunity to get a head start on cleaning up Washington, by calling on McCain to fire his lobbying associates. Lets take back Washington. Check out the petition, and sign if you want. Either way, lets press forward Obama's movement of change.

I am convinced that these Hillary Supporter can't do the math. There is no way that she can get the nomination even with a big win in WVA and KY.

I apologize in advance for putting this on all the threads the next few days, but it is vital information that all those who might be calling Oregon voters need to know.
Oregon is ENTIRELY vote-by-mail, which means we have no polling places. I say this because my Mom got a call about a week ago by a very well-meaning Obama volunteer who reminded her to go to her polling place on 5/20. She corrected him so he wouldn't make the same mistake with someone else.
Some reminders to share with Oregon voters as you call over the next week.
1. Last day to mail your ballot via U.S. Mail is this Thursday 5/15. After that, the ballot must go to one of the many drop boxes across the state in order to be counted.
2. If mailing, remember the postage has gone up to $0.42 cents.
3. Be sure to sign your external envelope or your vote does not count.
4. Your ballot must be received by 8pm on Tuesday May 20th in order to be counted. The boxes are closed and locked at 8pm.
4. Call the local elections office or your local Obama office with additional questions.
As I am on the phone constantly for work and have an active 2 year old at home, phone-banking isn't something I can do. My MANY THANKS to all of you who have called in the past and those who continue to call to the remaining states.
Let's bring this home, everyone!

Yes, we are very white here in Vermont, but you are right, he did win by a landslide, and in my town, same thing....60/40. I have a neighbor who supports Hillary for the SOLE reason that she (Hillary) is female. There are lots of women like that out there, esp older women who say,"By golly, I am going to vote for a woman because I want to do that before I die." I can understand their feelings, but I also think they will all come over to us easily now that we have beat Hillary. No one in their right mind would want McCain, especially no thinking female.

Hey guys, I was just watching the video in Missouri. Obama is policy wonk. He goes in depth in the issues. That's actually how he started the campaign, and people told him that he needed to be inspirational.
I think he is going to shock a lot of people in the general election with his grasp of the issues.
One more thing, people really love this guy. Just because he said: "I will be back", people started clapping. This is the kind of guy that even if you don't like him, once he stands infront of you, you are sold.
People, WE ARE READY.

Sounds like a story more about him than this WV win.

I can not wait! This win is insignificant. I don't think the voters in West Virginia would vote for 4 more years of the same inept government that left 18% of them below the poverty level. If they do, then they need more help than Obama and his potential cabinet could ever give.

Yes this is painful, however we knew she would win WV. The painful thing for me is to realize that even today there are that many under-educated people in regard to race. I perhaps was naive. I am not AA, but I somehow thought we have moved beyond these issues. I think that Obama has the gift of winning people over, with his clear and resonant message of hope. His ability to communicate his message is a once in a lifetime gift to us as a nation. I have every confidence that he will win many of the states in Nov. that others thought he could not with his talents and plan for this nation. I am not even watching the news tonight...I am staying away...I want the hope...I don't want to hear the spin...which is so silly ..when we all know Obama has won the nomination anyway....

She knows she is gone, but he let her take WV and then he pulls some five or six SDs tomorrow morning. She is experiencing a painfull death without even knowing it, trust me she die out. Actually, to tell you the truth she should drop out right now, if she is smart enough and want to be a leader in the senate for the party and may be to retain her seat in the senate for her next election in NY. Quite franklly I doubt she will win in NY anytime soon. John McCain has a lobbyist problem, and we thought he could use your advice. What should Senator McCain do about his top adviser, Charlie Black? We'll release the results to the media—and forward your advice to Senator McCain himself. And we're working on a hard-hitting web ad about Charlie Black that we'll release soon.
Click below to choose which message to send to John McCain:
Fire Black. Fire Charlie Black if he doesn't resign first.
Fire all the lobbyists. Fire Charlie Black, plus all 112 lobbyists running your campaign,4 including campaign co-chair Tom Loeffler, who has represented the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, a notorious human rights abuser.5
Don't sweat it. The media is so sold on your "maverick" image that corrupt figures in your inner circle won't actually hurt you.
Go all in. Hire more lobbyists who've worked for evil dictators. Maybe Kim Jong-il or Idi Amin.
Tell us what you think and spread the word! This survey's kind of funny, but our goal is deadly serious. If hundreds of thousands of us weigh in, we can show the media that John McCain's campaign has a growing liability: the fact that his inner circle is filled with lobbyists who've worked for everything he claims to be against.
Thanks for all you do.

Just noticed on the WV link on CNN, in the Republican results from February convention at the bottom, that John McCain got 1% of the WV vote (vs Romney and Huckabee). Funny how the Republicans didn't make an issue that WV was some sort of 'bellweather' state or showed McCain to be 'unelectable'. I don't often give Republicans credit, but at least the people in charge of the RNC know how to get behind their nominee and try to showcase his strengths, not weaknesses.
But maybe I'm not understanding this correctly (the WV convention from February). Can anyone shed some light on this? My point is, it's not like McCain was very popular there either.

I know that might be hard for some of you to understand, but everyone has a right to vote and I THINK IT IS NASTY TO TALK ABOUT PEOPLE WHO DID NOT CAST A VOTE FOR OBAMA.
He has won some states by large percentages..It's just media and Hillary's spin that is really bothering you.. She will still loose. Start talking about and working toward the states that he is likely to do better in.

Howard Wolfson just told CNN that the reason reason BO took his name off the ballot in MI was that he knew he was going to lose. Wolfey B. then just let that comment slide on by without calling him on it. Luckily, Donna Brazil, a DNC rules committee member, was shaking her head as Wolfson tried to enlighten everyone on how Hillary is going to win.
While I'm not concerned about HCR winning at this point, I am concerned about HRC and her campaign members trying to further divide and distract the voters in the remaining weeks so that the Republicans have a better shot in Nov. I'm turning CNN off now thank you.

Never mind WV. The Clintons are going to run this out to June 3. That means Obama must WIN Puerto Rico not just do well there. A win by Obama there would shut up Any claim Hilary may have about a Popular vote lead. This is a regime that won’t get out the race because mortally wounded. You have to go all the way and silence her EVERY possible argument. I would think Michelle wants NO part of Clintons in her new White House as VP’s or anything else.
Obama’s knew it was going to be this hard. They are used to it being this hard in life. We are almost there. Now Michelle, go down there to Puerto Rico and pull that in the win column.

West Virginia doesn't represent America as a whole. America is full of diversity, West Virginia isn't. Exit poll numbers show that many people in West Virginia didn't vote for Barack Obama because he was black. If that is the kind of coalition Hillary wants to build with, then that's another reason why superdelegates show jump onto obama's bandwagon. Obama is the candidate of diversity and the modern day Deomcratic party not the old Dixi-Crat party that Hillary seems to embrace.

I wasn't going to go there, but you have a valid perspective. However, there were other factors. First, history shows that whereever BO has time to campaign, he does better. However, the calendar necessitated that he do as he has done. Secondly, West Virginia is a very old state. In my limited experience, I have found that older some older people are often uncomfortable with change in general. Another factor is that older people often place more emphasis on experience in the sense of how long have you been on the block. Unfortunately, I would guess that there was a knowledge gap in BO's biography. Finally, the Clintons are well known just as they were in Penn. Bill carried the state twice. Economic times were better then and WVA is suffering now. This win, and it is a win for Clinton, is by no means a suprise and really does not change the dynamic of this race. I know that it brings the Clinton campaign comfort to be supported by the clientele that makes up WVA and who can blame them for being happy to get a block to vote for them. However, I am confident that most of this block of voters will support Obama despite polls should he clinch. If not, the campaign is not about the American people and means nothing. Should the world turn upside down and Clinton clinch, we would be guilty of false fire if we did not support the Democratic platform. Let us remember that we are Democrats.

As a couple of people have said, we have to keep in mind that West Virginia is not representative of the rest of country. I grew up in Appalachia, along the WV/VA border. Most of my family are the WV demographic. Speaking entirely in generalities: WV is older. Many young people have moved away to find jobs. Those that stay tend to be the least educated with the fewest options for competing for jobs elsewhere. As a group, they are not as educated as the voters of many regions. I was the first person in my family to even attend college, much less graduate, which I did 20 years ago. I'm talking about family reunions with 200 people in attendance and I'm the only one with a degree. WV has very little ethnic diversity. Exit polls show that approx. 95% of today's voters were white. That's not typical of most of America. And, often, a lack of ethnic diversity also has a negative impact on diversity of thought. It's kind of like living in a bubble of homogeneity. People who are unchallenged by diversity tend not to be very receptive of change, even when it is the very thing they desperately need. To many of these people, the threat of "Change" is more terrifying than the incremental daily threats to their future. It's a totally emotional reaction.
Ultimately, even if they won't vote for Obama, we have a responsibility to do the best we can by them and acquaint them with the positive change they need, even if it means dragging them kicking and screaming toward the future. ; )

I just do not know why nobody is challenging the things that Howard Wolfson has been saying tonight. She wins WV and they are spinning it like it was key state. If WV is so key, why is it only 28 delegates are assigned to it?

Barack Obama will win this election. When McCain's free ride ends, the media will have to focus on the divisions in the GOP. Ron Paul's planning a revolt at the GOP conventiom. Former Rep. Bob Barr's Libertarian party run will put twice as many states into play.

I know this is suppose to be a Barack supporter blog and I hope you guys don't see this as being negative towards Barack, but more about Democratic success. I have read your blogs and am impressed with the comments. While I am a Hillary supporter, I would love to hear your comments. Maybe I am the one missing something here. Let me add that I have given money to both candidates in support of the Democratic Party. The subject that I want your opinion on is Media influence. Let me make CNN as my example. This is my email to CNN tonight.
"CNN is great at covering the stories that matter, but foolish at trying to cover up the fact that they are supporting Barack Obama, but for the wrong reasons. I have heard the same analyst say Hillary Clinton's chance of winning the democratic nomination is mathematically impossible yet tonight say that it is mathematically difficult. What is it? Do you think it is that difficult for the American people to see that the Republican's that own CNN want Obama to win because Hillary is the one and only candidate that will without a doubt defeat McCain?"
With that being said, if Obama wins the nomination, the networks will very quickly change their political support tune to the beat of McCain. And quite frankly, I can't see Barack winning without Hillary. However, I am open to the opinions of others.
Thanks for commenting. Go Democrats!

Dear CD--
I do not feel that CNN is pro-Barack quite the opposite. But, that is why I no longer watch it, because I quickly learned that CNN is pro-CNN. The networks will do whatever and say whatever is in their best interest to see their poll numbers/ratings! rise.
I am in HRC's demographic--sort of. I am a white woman age 40. I have a college degree, plus.
What I have been thinking about lately is why are HRC's supporters so violently opposed to Obama? A lot of BHO and HRC's positions on the issues are similar. What made the difference for me is that Obama is new to the political scene and I prefer that over someone who has so much "experience." I like Obama, I like his life story, I like (love) his wife. His speeches inspire me to get involved in the politcal process.
I have seen and read about HRC since 1992. I do not care for HRC's personality. Her life story does not interest me. I do not like her husband. I find her voice hurts my ears. I wish she would stop shouting into the microphone. I find her speeches to be predictable, boring, and calculating. If I see her in the yellow jacket with black trim one more time I think I will scream.
So, I am sincerely interested in your opinion as to why so many HRC supporters answer in polls that they plan to vote for McCain if Obama is the nominee?

Dear Karen,
I see your point about CNN being pro-CNN. I felt your comments, were very well said.
I too am within HRC’s demographic. I am a white woman age 46, without a college degree.
I cannot speak for other HRC’s supporters that are violently opposed to Obama, but I can tell you why I will reluctantly vote for Obama in the case that Hillary does not win the nomination. I have studied Barack's and Hillary's blogs and receive emails from both. Hillary’s emails are always positive and pro-democratic. Most often, Barack’s emails and blogs, while they do reflect his charismatic qualities, focus a great deal on attacking Hillary Clinton’s character and campaign. Shedding light upon the perceived weakness of others to gain support has always bothered me, a lot. In my opinion, strategy such as this breeds conflict and divides people. Is this how he plans to run our country? I am also disappointed he did not address WV tonight. He instead was campaigning as if he were the democratic nominee. Perhaps it makes good sense to get out there and gain momentum on John McCain, but he should have spoken to the people of West Virginia tonight. I personally have lost a little respect for Obama as a result.
I have heard many people comment on Hillary’s personality and I laugh every time my own mother cringes at the sound of her voice (I sort of agree with that one), as for yellow jacket and black trim, I could do without the grandma like necklaces myself. Yet I am in awe her fighting spirit and perseverance. Is this not what we need in order to address the crisis and challenges of this country today? Barack seems to get his feelings easily hurt.
Do you really think that Obama can win without Hillary? I don’t. There are too many women Hillary supporters who are emotionally driven and very loyal. I think there are many that will not vote at all.
Thanks again for your heartfelt response.

The campaign knows which states will pull through and WV isn't one of them (no disrepect to W.Virginians)but some people in some states will never vote for anyone who looks different! Some of the voters in W.V. do not even believe AA's are Americans!

In the general election he will have to target those more voters too. They probably are his greates weaknesss. I think they can identify with her more than they can identify with him. There could be several other reasons why they are not supporting him one reason being they need to be more familiar with him. I am sure this campaign is willing too take suggestions.

Being from WV...it is a very hard state to campaign in. There are no big cities, just small/large towns. BO did campaign there, but HRC had Bill all over the state, as well as her daughter. WV remembers the Clinton years fondly....it would be a struggle regardless.
West Virginia by no means reflects the rest of the country.
I believe Barack's time spent in upcoming states is a much better investment in the long run. The delegate count is just not big enough in WV.

I just have to say that the entire process is not just strategy. That is what appealed to me about Barack. The perception was created that he didn't care about West Virginia voters. He ceded them to Clinton. The perception is that they weren't important enough. The same is happening in Kentucky. Obama has always campaigned on inclusiveness and that every person's vote and dream matters. The perception is that he did not fight for them. Perception is as important as strategy. All the superdelegates can change their minds tomorrow.
Those are the ones who cannot be counted on. Only the people and those are who we have been waiting for.

I really am not getting too stressed out about these last few primaries. It is time to focus on the General election. I also don't take the analysis of Obama's chances in the general election to seriously. First this election is unprecedented. We have a minority running against a viable women candidate in the primaries. The Democratic candidate is up against the Republican party with a sitting president with a 23% approval rating. Voter registration is through the roof-especialy among young voters. It is impossible to look back on past elections to predict the future of this one.
McCain has no easy road. I live smack dap in the middle of the "Southern Bible Belt"-and ain't one of these conservative Republicans I've talked to very happy with their Candidate. To win Independent and Democratic votes he must take on the mantle he wore in the 2000 election-the moderate maverick.
However Mcain's base would prefer another George Bush because among those voters Bush's approval rating is 70%. Case in point-a friend of mine sent me an email of Mccain in the year 2000-denouncing George Bush for giving a speech-at Bob Jones University in SC-said he would never speak there. Well, My friends son graduated from this school. Her question to me-"Would the real John McCain please stand up?" She also asked me some question about Obama.
Don't look back to see our future we are making History as we go!!

He CALMLY stated then that HRC was expected to win WV and KY by double digits. He was so calm and collected. They already planned for this. As you can see, the SD's are coming this way so don't worry. I'm not saying just to give up and become complacent. By all means, no. This win tonight doesn't change the dynamics of the game at all.

Let's not take it bad. It is good that the gap is not 40% as they were saying all day. Another good thing is the popular vote will be within 100k. So it is okay.
Remember she used the race and gender card. Better to lose gracefully. Obama is giving her a pass with all her negative attacks. She said in WV women will flock to me and she also said hardworking americans, whites vote for me. She is weird. Obama can't say anything as he needs her supporters in fall and better to stay posetive. So let's take it as okay and compaign hard in next weeks campaign. We have to close it next week.
Anyways the HQ should know no support for her debt or VP. We don't need this kind of drama in fall. Obama is different with d/t kind of poletics.

- She IS HURTING OBAMA, NO DOUBT. And she is doing it without being having to critize him OPENLY.
- She is a PROFESSIONAL DEMAGOGUE.
I would welcome, as an Obama supporter, A CLEAR, UNAMBIGUOUS AND DEFINITIVE MESSAGE FROM OBAMA IN THE SENSE THAT THIS WOMAN IS NOT AND WILL NOT BE CONSIDERED FOR THE VICE-PRESIDENCY.
She is venomous and once in the White House, she will be a fifth-columnist, a potential threat IN MORE THAN ONE WAY.
So, then, NO DEBT BAILOUT. NO VICE-PRESIDENCY. NO CABINET POST. NO NEGOTIATING POSITIONS OR ANY OTHER MATTER WITH HER OR HER LACKEYS.
Up until today, I HAD NEVER BEEN AGGRESSIVELY CRITICAL OF THIS WOMAN.

The comment in the victory speech struck me exactly the very same way ...about the boy. What also stunned me was at the top of the speech ...the request for donations, it was very troubling for me and also....why was Bill not standing behind her for this BIG marginal win as he did it for the flimsy win in Indianna? The Hillary Clinton campaign has completely confused me....not sure who she is or what she stands for from minute to minute, very scary in this world as it is today. I want something that resembles intelligence and honor and also...a steady person, a listener .....and also...I feel that the Obama family as First Family will symbolically unify our country once and for all. Currently Im very slowly reading Dreams from My Father...such a beatifully written, honest self search ..I intend to complete the book when Obama is officially nominated and then read Audacity of Hope during the general election period. The election matters to me very much. Im very nervous about the future of our country, the safety of our country and the dignity we have lost in the world ...and the economy. The Clintons seem very self serving ...I simply can not imagine Hillary and Bill as Co-vice presidents..I think it would underpin a brand new ERA that I believe has so much potential. Im embarrassed for Hillary ....she gave a speech to the Super Delegates......she spoke to no one else....I can hardly stand this anylonger.

There is no way the large number of Our Democratic Opponent's Supporters that say they will not vote for Barack Obama if he is the nominee will not. That is if they are true blue Democrats. They are just telling the media what they want to hear. By continually saying they won't vote for Barack. They feel it will help their candidate drive this preconceived notion to the superdelegates along with watching it play out in to media and in the Republican circles.
If they do vote for McCain maybe they won't mind if we have a continuation of the Iraq War spill over into Iran, or maybe they don't think John McCain will attempt to have 2 wars at one time.
Maybe they don't care about continuing Bush's policies regarding eavesdropping and torture. A totally conservative Supreme Court that will not only be unanimous on Women's Issues but in all Human Rights Issue.
They will have time to rethink that decision. Until then I'd just concentrate on helping Barack continue to WIN.
When the focus in on McCain it will be a completely different story.

She pandered to white americans and they rallied behind her simply because there is no way that they will allow some rookie black man win over any one of them.

I am a diehard Obama supporter. However, I was disappointed that Senator Obama just ignored West Virginia and is appearing to do so in Kentucky. Early and often he has said that every state matters. I believe part of the backlash that was seen tonight was him (not the hard work of the ground) not fighting for the votes. The whole nation saw how hard and how much he campaigned in Indiana. Why is Indiana and the values and concerns of their voters any greater than those of West Virgnia? I understand all the math, and our overall standing, but what is troubling is what appears to be a "political" decision to ignore voters and states that believe they are worth fighting for. I am not in any way a strategist; I am a regular old voter who believes this approach is off message of inclusiveness.

Sen. Webb is the best choice for VP.
He brings the military/veteran/war experience to the ticket and I think Webb served in Iraq.
This gives Webb authority to speak about ending this crazy occupation.
McSame (war "hero")is going to go after Obama about his lack of war experience, especially regarding the Iraq War issue and will say that Obama doesn't have the experience to say we should end the occupation of Iraq.
Sebelius is great an should get a cabinet appointment, but NOT VP.

Hillary Clinton is a racist; both the Clintons are racists. Hillary first evoked racism into this competition in New Hampshire when she used the old code ".....I want to speak to the American People. I see where this is going and we've got to stop this." It implied that prior to that interjection she was talking to someone other than the American People. I'm a 71-yr.old Black American (retired NYC Policewoman) who fortunately or unfortunately but not bitterly, am aware of the language of Whites of Hillary's generation. The media conveniently ignored this.

My family were not against the Clinton's we were for Obama, and almost felt disloyal when we decided to cast our support behind one of the most intelligent, brilliant, well articulate and it doesn't hurt that he is a handsome young man. We must not get caught up in the smokescreen of inexperience, no one running in this race for president has the experience.
So what'z the fuss. He (Obama) is fully capable and we are there for him.
As a matter of fact I already consider him to be my President. I trust him to guide and lead this country in a new direction. We need a Change We Can Believe In.
