Good stuff....
Hey, just thought I'd post this here:
A few people on the last blog were wondering what some guy in the crowd yelled out in the middle of the Gay marriage question.
I'm about 90% positive he/she said,
"LGBT for Obama!"
---just thought I'd let you know!---

Many people are in a similar financial situation to myself, living on a small pension or SSDI, unable to walk the streets knocking on doors, lacking the means or ability to spend countless hours calling prospective voters.
If this is you, here is your chance to contribute whatever you can spare, (as little as $5.00) will help us win the White House and return this country to the path that our founding fathers had envisioned and fought so hard to create, that our own fathers and grandfathers defended with their blood and that the current men and woman serving abroad deserve to come home to. A country with an agenda that is not mired in self made turmoil and devisive politics.
Help bring the dream to fruition, donate today!

*WHO IS LIKE OUR MAN, OBAMA?!*
Who else gives straight talk with sound solutions and that extra kicker: inspiration! Who else can charm hostile people like Obama? Look how many hardcore partisan people he has already won over. This will be a gigantic asset in dealing with foreign powers. What a presence.
WE HAVE A REAL GIFT IN THIS MAN. He is brilliant, clean, classy, even tempered, inviting and he invokes TRUST. You want to be

It seems many Californians are suffering from "Hillary VOTER REMORSE" and they want their votes back!
I'm so excited to see many more Obama bumper stickers than I did in Feb.
So, Obama will WIN BIG in Calif.

Mary Lou that's wonderful! I think Barack did extremely well on the College Tour. I can't wait to see what McCain does and HRC hasn't even accepted the invite. The crowds were excited as usual but the young people had some really good questions for him. I would really like to get to my fundraising goal before the PA primary. Hope there are some willing souls out there to help me accomplish it!

Yes, many did vote for Edwards in California and that's why early voting is NOT GOOD for primaries!!!!
I know many Edwards voters are NOW in Obama's camp so I hope Edwards endorses Obama.
Clinton got a lot of her votes on NAME recognition ONLY on February 5th!!!!!!!!!!!
People are waking up to Obama now.

The Cable Guys all suggest that Edwards will endorse Hillary. However, the last I heard Obama mention Edwards, I sort of read between the lines and felt that Obama might hold a cabinet post open for Edwards (or Attorney General.) Obama spoke very highly of Edwards despite a pundit's suggestion that Edwards was not very keen on Obama. Edwards would make an exceptional AG. Maybe he's waiting for an offer. I hope he supports Obama.

Colombia's president criticizes Barak Obama on trade stance:
Colombia's president sharply criticized U.S. presidential contender Barack Obama on Wednesday for opposing a trade deal with his country, calling him out of touch with the realities of the South American nation.
The White House is urging Congress to approve the trade agreement that would remove most tariffs on American exports and cement Colombia's preferential trade status with the United States.
But Sen. Obama said Wednesday he would oppose the trade deal, citing Colombia's record of protecting trade union members from killings.
"I deplore the fact that Sen. Obama, aspiring to be president of the United States, should be unaware of Colombia's efforts," said President Alvaro Uribe in a statement released by the presidency. "I think it is for political calculations that he is making a statement that does not correspond to Colombia's reality."
Obama and Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton are wooing union members as they campaign for the Democratic presidential nomination in Pennsylvania, where the primary is April 22.
"I will oppose the Colombia Free Trade Agreement if President Bush insists on sending it to Congress because the violence against unions in Colombia would make a mockery of the very labor protections that we have insisted be included in these kinds of agreements," Obama said Wednesday at a meeting of the Pennsylvania AFL-CIO.

High Stakes for Clinton in March Contests
Susan Davis reports on the presidential race.
The March 4 nominating contests in four states — particularly the primaries in Ohio and Texas –are taking on increased importance for Sen. Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign.
Clinton aides sought to shrug off rival Sen. Barack Obama’s Tuesday sweep in the “Potomac Primary” saying his victories were anticipated and that Clinton will rebound with strong numbers on March 4.
“We expect change to begin March 4,” senior strategist Mark Penn told reporters this afternoon on a conference call. There are nearly 500 delegates at stake that day and Clinton’s campaign is already predicted that the races will tighten the margin between the two candidates to “within 25 delegates” when the polls close, said national field director Guy Cecil. “We expect we will be in a virtual tie with Sen. Obama,” he said. The campaign’s projections include superdelegates.

But Obama Wednesday won backing from Wyoming Governor Dave Freudenthal -- one of the nearly 800 superdelegates, who are free to vote for either candidate -- and from Lee Hamilton, a respected foreign policy sage in the party.
Freudenthal became the 65th superdelegate to endorse Obama since the nationwide nominating clashes of "Super Tuesday" on February 5, while more than 300 others have yet to declare a preference.
Link
Meanwhile, Wyoming Gov. Dave Freudenthal and former Montana Sen. John Melcher endorsed Obama. As superdelegates to the national convention, they are among the Democratic Party leaders who will decide the nomination because, although Obama leads Clinton in delegates, neither candidate can win solely with pledged delegates they've won through primaries and caucuses. Obama handily won Wyoming's March 8 caucus; Montana holds a Democratic primary June 3.
Since last Friday, Obama has cut Clinton's lead among superdelegates by four; she has 250 to his 220.

Chris Hitchens talking about Bill Clinton.
The main point being missed by most everyone is stated by him clearly and directly.
"The biggest flaw of HRC Campaign is that its chief advisor is Bill clinton a DISBARRED, impeached lawyer who was guilty of lying under oath due to which his lawyer license got revoked".
Watch the short video, you will really enjoy it. Spread the word, help it go viral. The more hits the link gets, the longer they will host it on HuffPo.

If the college students haven't watched the old movie starring James Stewart, "Mr. Smith goes to Washington", I think they should. It's shows how a political machine tries to destroy a young Senator who works for the people. Look at the movie this way...
Mr. Smith = Mr. Obama
Senator Paine = Senator Hillary/Bill Clinton
Jim Taylor machine = Clinton machine
Superdelegates who might
overturn the will of the
people
Though Mr. Smith is already a Senator, it shows the backroom dealings and Boss Tweed atitude. How appropriate this movie is for today.

I just heard Hillary's latest affront to Obama's campaign. It was couched in terms of an April Fools joke in which she "challenged Obama to a bowl off." The entire skit was designed for one statement, "Obama's campaign should get out of the gutter." Not only is it not humorous but it is a direct negative attack on a campaign that has lived up to its expectations and standards of fair campaigning. Hillary is very angry and very aggressive at the moment. I suspect she is going to try to derail the Obama momentum any way she knows how. So far she has been unsuccessful. I can only hope that she low success rate continues.

Hey, of course it is the same girl, it is the same recycled ad. Didn't you get the memo....Hillary's campaign is short on money and staff is fatigued and short on energy. What, under these conditions you're expecting new and inventive ads. She figured she fooled the voters in Ohio with this one and in a long campaign of failures this was her one glowing success! Who was the famouns poloitician who coined Hillary's strategy in a phrase: "you can fool some of the people some of the time and some of the people all of the time and [here the Hillary twist] 'all of the working class white people all of the time if you keep lying to them and convincing them to see themselves as a separate embattled & "entitled" subset of Americans that only their fellow "entitled" Hillary understands." Too bad for her that the original phrase ends with what is in fact a truism & that is YOU CAN'T FOOL ALL OF THE PEOPLE ALL OF THE TIME" [Obama twist- 'you can't fool all of the people because ALL AMERICANS...including working class whites have way more good sense than Hillary thinks and we all know we are in the thing we call the USA together "United in All the States"

I think of the 'new' ad as doing much the same as a poor comedian who tells a really aweful joke.. they tell it again and hope it's more funny the second time around.
had it been a funny joke it might sound like:
Two canibals eating a clown. One says to the other "do you think he tastes a bit funny"?
In this case, Clinton's ad was laughable, but not funny the first time around. The second time around, particularly with the Bosnia story undermining her Commander (or is that "commando") In Chief argument, it's even more desperate than the first time.
It's really kind of sad, and i'm starting to feel sorry for her as Clinton's desperation is looking ugly now. We still are going to win this thing, but I do feel sorry for her after exposing her fatally flawed character, and ruining her husband's legacy, to continue to struggle will lose every vestige of honor the Clintons had. The ugly comments over the Bill Richardson endorsement are along that road. So it's sad that her continued quest will cost the Clintons everything and still fail.
On the flip side, there is a new day in politics. And we are here.

The entire liberal/Democratic blogosphere has lit up in the past day with the comments from DNC Chairman Howard Dean on the possible solutions for seating the delegations from Michigan and Florida. Dean has stated he is "committed" to seating the Florida delegation and is "optimistic" that another compromise can be worked out for Michigan.
"We are committed to making sure that we do everything in our power to seat a delegation from Florida," Dean said. "We believe we will seat a delegation from Florida."
But the party chairman said it was critical that Obama and Clinton were "comfortable with the compromises that have to be worked out."
However, Dean has also stated that any solution would have to be agreed upon by both candidates' campaigns in order to be workable.
Dean's low-key style during this delegate dispute is starting to attract some criticism from across the Beltway establishment. According to The New York Times, Dean has never been comfortable with the D.C. political mainstream, spending his weeks travelling the country and his weekends at home in Vermont. When in D.C., he stays at a hotel rather than taking a residence. His "50 state strategy" approach has put him at odds with Rep. Rahm Emanuel and others who want to focus on maintaining immediate majorities, but Dean remains immensely popular with state chairmen for his investments across the country in building ground level infrastructure to build a "bench" of
candidates.

How would a compromise work? Both states have tried and failed to plan a re-vote. If another vote proposal were to come up, it would have to be completed by June 10th to meet DNC rules.
In Florida, some proposals are to seat the Florida delegation based on their primary results, as both candidates were listed on the ballot (although both pledged to not campaign in the state). Another compromise is to use the primary results but penalize Florida by removing 1/2 of their delegates. This solution would net Clinton 38 delegates (Clinton 105, Obama 67, and Edwards 13, according to MSNBC.com).
In Michigan, the options are tougher since Obama was not on the ballot. Some kind of formulaic allocation based on the Michigan primary results and the overall national results seems to be the favored proposal currently.
In the end, though, any change in the delegate allocation strategy will still need to be approved by both Obama and Clinton, as well as either the DNC Rules Committee or the DNC Convention Credentials Committee.

The Clintons are really skating on thin ice with this "Barack cannot win" stuff. The fact is that if we core Obama supporters followed through on our true feelings about Hillary she WOULD lose a general election in a landslide. So her argument to the super-delegates goes something like this: "All of those millions of core Obama supporters who would feel that I'm an illegitimate nominee would hold their noses and vote for me, but all of these other people over there wouldn't vote for Barack." Pretty weak stuff.

I am of the belief the rules were the rules. The other campaign continues to tell the LIE that Obama is not willing to compromise. I really wish these good-for-nothing news commentators would point this out.

Calling the catholic church "the whores of Babylon" is pretty offensive stuff.
Let's see if Matthews is really being a journalist or if he's just as biased and racist as many others in the news media once again showing a double standard on the facts.

He convinced law enforcement and pro death penalty groups that transparency through video taping would prevent wrongful death sentences. Showed Obama's power as a legislator.

What the "He Can't Win" headline seems to be about is the fact that what they say privately (and what they've been saying privately all along) is being leaked to the media. If the young, idealistic, college-age, bleeding heart liberal Hillary Clinton could see what she has become today, she would be in disbelief. Didn't everyone say JFK couldn't win because he was Catholic? It's very ironic when Hillary's husband ran as the "candidate from hope" and she is the ANTI-HOPE candidate. She reminds me of Gollum, blinded by desire for the precious ring of the White House and selling out any integrity she may have had to get there.

My dad has said that at the time Kennedy ran for president, he wasn't supposed to win because he was Catholic and that he didn't have enough experience. He said it was one of the nastiest presidential campaigns that he has ever seen until this one. He said, in the end when he won the democratic nomination, they had a debate between Nixon and Kennedy. He said you sat and watched this old man go against a young, charming, and charismatic Kennedy, and he said that the country made up their mind that night. His mom had the opportunity to meet Nixon, and when she got home told my dad not to vote for him, because you should never trust someone with a "crooked smile." She stood for hours in the cold rain to vote for Kennedy.

Nixon wasnt old, but he lost the tv test. He needed a shave, and he looked sweaty, and he kept looking back and forth...shifty-eyed. Kennedy, well, we know the rest. Nixon eventually made it to the White House. He filled in Kennedy's swimming pool with....you guessed it....a bowling alley. #44 will have to put the Kennedy pool back.

I cannot believe either Bill or Hillary were idealistic. Why would Chelsea, who is so close to her parents, with every career in the world available , have chosen to become an assistant hedgefund manager?
I believe Barack's mother was the true idealist. She is my hero. He chose a job in the inner city for $13,000 a year in the Reagan 1980's while he was living in NYC. I was in NYC same time. All anyone talked about was money. Amazing that Barack had it available and chose the path he did. He has never gotten any credit for this on the campaign trail, but it amazes me. And he wasn't a rich kid taking a year to help the poor. He had never had any money, had always been scholarship kid, living among the rich and the very rich. I would think he would have jumped at the chance to use all his rich contacts in NYC to get ahead, but he goes for a
low low-paying job in Chicago.
There is no possible way either of these other 2 become president.

ugh, that's the headline over at huffington post!! you know what's so lame and ironic about this argument the clintons are trying to push about Obama's electability?!?! It's that if Obama can't win how is it that he's beating them BOTH with all the power and name recognition they have and how is it that he's won twice as many states!?!?! I really hope the super delegates are smarter than that and wont fall for it!!

The supers are smart enough to see the truth. Obama is the one raising oodles of $$, Obama is the one bringing in first time voters, youth, Independents, and Republicans, Obama is the one that will build the majority in congress as the head of the ticket, and Obama is the one who has the superdelegate momentum. He has run a pretty clean campaign and has resisted the politics of destruction as much as he has been able to under the circumstances.
I am not worried that supers are going to fall under the spell of the Clintons who are so obviously desparate and clinging to anything they can do to reverse the impending death of their campaign.

The only question that Obama stuttered with was the 3 a.m. phone call. I wish he could have been a little bit more succinct. I know this is just my opinion...I saw United 93. The ONE thing that stood out to me was that the military and the FAA need MUCH BETTER COMMUNICATION. If he could have said better communication right to him would have been a much better answer.

I think he answered the question in a larger perspective and in context. That the same people who crushed those planes are now planning the next round of attack in pakistan and afghanistan.
But our focus has shifted from Afghan/pakistan to Iraq. He also said that his focus would be on intelleigence gathering to destroy the newtworks. In other words while bush is focused in iraq fighting ethnic groups, tribal militias etc. bin laden is comfortably and as reported today very health in a cave plotting the next around of attack. You see BO looks at things from a larger perspective by first going for the underlying problem(afgahna/pakistan) and not hypotheticals. I mean of course we got to understand that presidents are not military experts. I think we expect just becasue one is president suddenly one is an expert in all areas. Presidents have advicers and profeesionals advicing them on military and strategic matters.

Since the Clintons cannot figure out how Barack is beating them, it's not surprising that they also cannot figure out how Barack will beat McCain. This is the new paradigm, and they only comprehend the old paradigm.

Kelly,
I don't see it as a slap in the face. It's not really even much of an insult. Just as Bush has made himself largely irrelevant, so have the Clintons (they really are both running). I don't think any voter, R, D, or I actually gives much credibility to the Clinton's contention that Obama 'can't win'.
And sadly as their supports pull away, and Clinton becomes even more desparate, there will come a point where she is shouting, and no one there to listen anymore.
It sounded to me like Clinton was saying "this can't be happening to us".

Clinton to Richardson: ‘Barack Obama Can’t Win’
By Jake Tapper, ABC News Political Radar
Sen. Hillary Clinton, D-N.Y., and former President Bill Clinton are making very direct arguments to Democratic superdelegates, starkly insisting Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., cannot win a general election against presumptive Republican nominee, Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz.
Sources with direct knowledge of the conversation between Sen. Clinton and Governer Bill Richardson, D-N.M., prior to the Governor's endorsement of Obama say she told him flatly, "He cannot win, Bill. He cannot win."
Richardson, who served in President Clinton's cabinet, disagreed.
At a rally in Oregon, standing next to Obama, Richardson insisted, "My great affection and admiration for Hillary Clinton and President Bill Clinton will never waver," but he added, "It is time, however, for Democrats to stop fighting among ourselves and to prepare for the tough fight we will face against John McCain in the fall."

The only reason Hill and Bill are saying this is because Barack is half-black - which tells a lot about them and how they truly feel about black people. I know now what she said to Bill Ricahrdson. She accused him of voting for Barack because he himself is hispanic. I hope Barack hits them hard on every turn in the next weeks. they deserve to be knocked out and sent home wimpering like dogs with their tails between their legs.

It is our job to handle the crises that come along, and to raise up the morale of the entire party. The fact that we embrace that responsibility is the reason why the tide is turning so strongly in our favor.

HRC can go and try and say that she admired Dr. King, but when push came to shove and she could do the honorable thing and say that Sen. Obama handled the Wright "controversy" correctly, she chose to not do so.
My opinion is that this has been tested and polled and they determined that this would get her some perceived ratings bump. JMHO

As I understand it, if you want to contact a superdelegate who is your senator or representative, that's a different story.

Yes, I remember a few weeks ago there was some information about not contacting SDs.
I know I get super annoyed when I get unsolicited email blasts.
Plus, if you look at it psychologically - it appears like we are "begging"... The petition format I think was more of a good idea that someone was doing.
Rambling here - but in my humble opinion, it could be appropriate to contact SDs in your own state/locale??

Why don't we let campaign officials do the e-mailing to superdelegates? The campaign asked us at one time to do this but not to do it consistently. I would wait on official campaign notice before doing this. My opinion.

I think it's a personal decision. However, if we apply the golden rule, then the question is, would we want to be contacted (by huge numbers of people) to sway our votes?
At some point, I think it's fair to say that enough pressure has been applied to the SD with a message of "decide something already". I think that have gotten the message. For me, I would not want to be crushed with a million emails regardless of what they said. And I would feel that too much pressure combined with people saying things that i don't necessarily agree with may make me less inclined, rather than more inclined to sway my support in their favor.
Bottom line is we have to think for ourselves and if we apply a general test of fairness (are we willing to take the other side of what we are offering) in our considerations, we should come out with the right answer most of the time.
For me, I think they have the message and everything they need to make a choice, and I've stopped railing on the DNC and SD.

Tonight, Chuck Todd, Msnbc's political analyst said that the SD's were holding back because they didn't want to offend the Clintons and have the public Character Assasinations, like they did to Bill Richardson. But Todd said they weren't really undecided at this point, and they would not be going for Clinton. So I think many are just waiting for a little more proof in the pudding which will happen after the next couple of primaries. Hillary wouldn't drop out before that anyway.

The idea about either contacting or not contacting SDs has gone back and forth here. Personally, I don't venture out of my state. We are constituents of these folks (thought not all are elected officials) and that's reason enough to contact them, IMHO. I certainly did pre-caucus, and I've even written them again.

I agree with you Joy. I plan to contact all the SD's who are elected officials from my state. They are accountable at the end of the day to the voters, so I am letting them know I am paying attention and watching what they're doing.
I.e. I will not vote now for Rendell of PA, but will happily support Sen. Casey in the future and I will let them know that and why.
As for party officials, I feel they are fair game and should be contacted now and again to remind them that they serve at our pleasure as well and should be accountable to the people.
There is no harm in writing pleasant, firmly worded, encouraging emails and letters. In no circumstances does it pay to be belligerent or use foul language or do any namecalling with these folk.

Obama supporters: Concerning the issue of whether we should write to the superdelegates, you will see the response that I received from Superdelegate, Donna Brazile as a result of a note that I wrote to her. You can read my note to her, which follows her response below. She encouraged me to write to other Superdelegates. She clearly felt my message should be shared with other Superdelegates. Follow your judgement, unless your hear otherwise from HQ.
Fern:
I believe the best course of action is to contact your super delegates. They need to hear from you as well.
Thanks,
Donna
Dear Donna Brazile:
I respect the contributions that you have made to the welfare of this country, and I appreciate the thoughtfulness of your commentary on CNN. Please excuse the forward nature of this email , but I have taken the liberty to contact you because as with many Democrats I have become very uncomfortable with the Clintons' campaign for the presidency. Their campaign tactics are approaching the point where they may cross another line, the line which could destroy Barack Obama's opportunity to be the nominee and destroy her chances ever to become president. If Barack Obama's candidacy sinks, it would be very difficult for me to cast a vote for Hillary Clinton. John McCain, although admirable in a number of ways, would be a very dangerous man to have the commander and chief at this time. This isn't any time. My hope is that you and others, such as Al Gore and Nancy Pelosi, will soon save the country from the Clintons and save the Clintons from themselves.
Yours Truly,
Fern

I say we volunteers should concentrate on winning primaries and building the movement. Let's demonstrate that we are courageous enough to battle the Clintons for as long as necessary - that we are confident enough to allow the super-delegates to move at their own pace. Let's win over the super-delegates by example. Let's inspire the super-delegates with our unflagging enthusiasm and grit.

We still have PA and 9 other contests ahead. The energy spent on writing SDs could instead be spent on our ground game.
We have to sprint through the finish line. Hopefully as our opponent falters, we sprint faster. Volunteering for our upcoming efforts would be an excellent direction for this SD writing energy.

Oh that's right. Barack is dropping some serious ads on PA and Indiana. Hillary is not. Why? Because of donors like us, Barack actually has the money. Hillary's a bit broke. These ads increase Barack's visibility in these states, and as we've learned in virtually every state in the country, the more people introduced to Barack, the more vote for him. These ads very well could be the difference in the race.
Come to my fundraising page and donate to help these commercials air!

It is a thank you of showing love and expressing our thanks to all veterans especially those who lost their lives. Your donations can be donate in "honor of", "in memory of" or "to support" any soldier or veteran you know. We only able to hold this nomination because of the many great patriots that have given their all. I have started it with a $10 donation in honor of a friend who did two tours to Iraq. No donation is too small. If you have a dollar please consider donating it to the election process - something we are only capable to have because of their dedication and service. Obama picked up another superdelegate, continuing the slow drip in his direction. (He has picked up 12 since March 4th to Clinton's one.)
The latest is former Sen. John Melcher, of Montana. "Melcher says he chose Obama because he believes the Illinois senator has been against the Iraq war since the start," the AP reports.

This morning, someone directed me to a Youtube video of Florida Senate Democratic Minority Leader Steven Geller, making a motion
pretending
to try not to move the Florida primary to an earlier date. The sarcasm was dripping and the grinning and smirking were obvious.
This is probably part of the evidence that convinced the Rules Committee that Florida didn't really try to block this legislation when the Republicans put it forth, and which is why their appeal was denied and sanctions imposed.
This is truly despicable. They behaved like this and now have the utter gall to point the finger at Barack Obama, getting their constituents all pissed off at him, possibly costing him their state in November!
This makes me so angry I could spit.
Well guess what --
the Florida Republican Party, who uploaded the video in the first place, has removed it from Youtube and from their website
!
Except that I still have it open on one of my web browsers and have taken a screen shot of the page to prove that they had it up there at one time. And tomorrow I'm bringing my video camera and pointing it at the screen and videotaping it playing. It will be sucky quality, but it will be evidence.
And then I'm going to circulate it to the media!
The evidence
will
be published if I have anything to say about it!

Apr 2nd 2008 at 9:21 pm EDT
Thanks to the generosity of many who donated their valuable frequent flyer miles, we sent 29 out-of-state volunteers to Texas and Ohio, and so far have another 23 going to Pennsylvania.
This means ***1,300,000 MILES*** have been donated to date – putting ***52 VOLUNTEERS*** on the ground, helping bring it home for Barack.
DONORS: It takes 25,000 miles for a ticket. So – who’s got at least 25,000 on the same airline which they’d like to donate toward making sure Barack Obama is our next President?
Step right up — I’m getting requests almost daily from volunteers who want to help but can’t afford the airfare. Donate now, please, so we can get these people where they’re most needed. We have to work really hard in PA!
VOLUNTEERS: If you want to spend a week or more in PA, but can’t afford to pay your own way, contact me and I’ll try to match you with an airline ticket.
Please call me at 714-536-6104 California time. (Don’t reply on the blogs; I probably won’t see your response.)

HRC does not like Chris Matthews because two months ago he made an "off color" comment about her.
Some of her supporters, including some of the leadership in the National Org. for Women, tried to get him fired! For about 5 weeks after they went after him, he became shamefully supportive of HRC...or at least he pretended he was supportive.
Everyone knows he likes Obama....recall his comment the night of Obama's speech after winning South Caroline, when Chris said listening to Obama made him feel like something was crawling up his leg?????
So, don't think you'll see HRC doing any interviews with Matthews anytime soon!

“This will be the biggest political event in Montana in generations,” said Kevin OBrien, a spokesman for the state party.
In a lot a ways, this long drawn out Democratic campaign seems good for business. Huh??

I was interested to hear Sen. Obama's reflections on what it was like being a black kid with a white mom. As an adoptive mom (white) to 6 black and 2 Korean kids, I appreciated the affirmation of that experience from someone who lived it from the kid's perspective. And it was great to hear that reminder that we're more alike than we are different.
Thanks, Sen. Obama, for challenging this country to think about politics a different way!

Galen--
I have read that Obama said his mother use to surround him with images and history of his black heritage. For example, he said she always listened to Martin Luther King speeches, and played Mahalia Jackson gospel songs...all the time, and told him she thought Harry Belafonte was the best looking man on the face of the earth.
She made sure he understood who he was and made him feel comfortable with his black and white side.

I'm finding it difficult to analyze the rationale behind the Clinton campaign's new 3AM ad hitting McCain on the economy. There are two options here:
1. Many members of the MSM, and perhaps superdelegates, have been critical of the Clinton campaign's seeming focus on the Donkey nomination as the end game and this is a way for them to show that they are indeed thinking about the general election (most likely).
2. This is another step in a pattern of softening behavior to the Obama campaign to close the chasm caused by the negative attacks of the past two months and perhaps edge closer to a joint ticket.
I guess we'll find out in the next couple of weeks.

The Obama campaign has put forth many plans to improve the economy, education, health insurance, and on and on.
But, how will the Obama administration pay for these plans. Will they raise taxes??? Well, as an Obama supporter you should know that much of Obama's proposals will be paid for without raises taxes.
Here's how:
1. End the war, saving $8 billion per month--money that can be used here at home;
2. End the Bush tax cuts for those making more than $250,000 per year. Use the resulting $60 billion per year to help pay for his universal health plan;
3. Charge corporate polluters and use the money to create "green jobs" in the energy sector and train new workforce for green jobs.
4. End tax breaks for corporations that ship U.S. jobs overseas, and use those tax breaks to support companies that create and keep jobs at home;
5. Work with the healthcare industry to reduce the costs of healthcare, requiring, among other things, that the industry fully implement "electronic medical records,” which will save millions of dollars. Use these savings to help subsidize "small businesses” who can offer cheaper health insurance to its employees.
6. Eliminate the middle man (banks) from the student loan business, saving millions of dollars, and using these savings to make cheaper loans to college students.
These are just a few ways Obama will generate resources to help pay for his programs. Notice nothing above involved raising taxes on the American public!!

According to real clear politics, Obama has 1634 delegates right now (4/2/08)
Link
REMAINING CONTEST and OBAMA CAMPAIGN PROJECTIONS
Link
Pennsylvania: 158 delegates (75 for Obama, 83 for Clinton)
Guam: 4 delegates (2 for Obama, 2 for Clinton)
Indiana: 72 delegates (39 for Obama, 33 for Clinton)
North Carolina: 115 delegates (61 for Obama, 54 for Clinton)
West Virginia: 28 delegates (13 for Obama, 15 for Clinton)
Kentucky: 51 delegates (23 for Obama, 28 for Clinton)
Oregon: 52 delegates (28 for Obama, 24 for Clinton)
Montana: 16 delegates (9 for Obama, 7 for Clinton)
S. Dakota: 15 delegates (8 for Obama, 7 for Clinton)
Puerto Rico: 55 delegates (25 for Obama, 30 for Clinton)
THE MATH: 1634 + 75 + 2 + 39 +61 + 13 + 23 + 28 + 9 + 8 + 25 = 1917 delegates
Results - 108 delegates short of 2025.
Add the two endorsements received today we are only 106 Super Delegates short of 2025
Of the 795 Super Delegates, Obama has 222 and HRC has 251, which leaves 322 uncommitted.
IMHO, it should not be too difficult to get another 108 or a mere 33% of the remaining delegates between now an June 1. At a rate of two super delegate endorsements per day from now until June 1, we will reach 2025 and this thing wrapped up in JUNE!!!
Of course, should Obama win PA, this thing may be wrapped up even sooner.

These number are old projections however. Nevertheless they are illustrative. We will likely do better in NC and OR and I'm not sure that we will do as well in WV at least at this point. I also think we will end up making a deal on FL and MI that will loose us a net of nearly 20 total. But the result is still the same. We shall win. There is little doubt about that. The MI and FL deal will be important to kill the Clinton rhetoric on these two states. Once this is gone she has nothing left to suggest she has any chance.

and MS (projected BO-62; HRC 38. Actual BO-61; HRC 37)

example, at least the percentages give us a feel for how the delegates will be allocated.

Dear Supporters and Undecided April 1st 2008 .
Today I watched as many of you might have . Husband and where talking about the interview with Christ Matthew . And I must say it was a very good interview . But what I don't understand is why is it American people don't get it yet .
I talk to many of people and thank goodness most whom I talked to like and supporter Barack Obama .
But there has been a few that yet has not got it yet . All to many have talked about having a president that we can trust and believe in .
And yet they still question why they are still the same . I simple say this . If you had a choice of Hillary or Barack right this min . Whom can you trust . They often stop and think about it . And say the black man .
I say well he has a name Barack Obama . They say yes OK . He seems to be a trusting man . But will people vote for him in Nov . And I look at them and said did you vote for him . ? No they answer . I say why . ? They tell me because HC been around longer . But just a few min ago . They said that will he get votes because he black .
Puzzled my head . This is not about rather if he black or not . It about whom will you trust . ?
I say for me It is Barack Obama . Hes shown American people many times over he can and will be a great president . Because he is a true man . Trustworthy man . Caring man .
A president this country have not had . A president this country been asking for . A man whom we need . I don't understand why some don't get it . Is this not what you been asking for AMERICANS .??
Yes so what is it you have not got understood .?
I'm sick of the same old same old . It time for new . It's time for true and trust and caring and understand of us all . And uniting his country . Healing the bad blood all over the world .

I sent this email to Barack's campaign:
I want to express my concern about the secret service not keeping that fruit cake away from Barack Obama. Please see the video below where that man was allowed to get too close to Barack Obama several times. If he had a weapon, he would have been able to harm Barack. The secret service shouldn't have allowed that to happen.
The secret service who guards Bill Clinton will contain anyone who heckles or get too close to Bill immediately, They don't take any chances and that is the way Barack Obama should be protected by the secret service who is protecting him. I am very disappointed to watch this video and see that Barack is not being properly protected. I strongly urge Barack to hire his own personal security and also let the secret service know they need to protect him better. I am not the only one concern about this issue. I saw many comments about this incident on the website. We love Barack and we want to keep him safe because there are people who wants to do him harm.

Petra, you are too funny! Bowling for Barack. I would be there in a heartbeat if you were just a bit closer to Illinois.
I would offer to donate a dollar, too, for each gutter ball, but I just balanced my checkbook for the first time since April. It's a good thing for Barack that I hadn't been balancing... I gave him $2,500 without ever knowing the total.
But maybe others could pledge for gutter balls, like people pledge for someone who is going to walk or ride for a cause.

He said that the Supers would not be happy with those tactics! The panelist said that this is not good for HRC because Miller is speaking for Pelosi and her inner circle, most of which have publicly endorsed BO! The Supers are getting restless and tired of HRC's tactics. We can look for more to continue trickling in!

To the comment about Hilliary not paying her staff health care.
Yes, she is low on money. But the most important point is that her health care plan is "mandatory" so, Hillary violated her own health care plan!!
What kind of example is this to her voters -- older women you really need health care and her so-called concern for blue collar workers!
Another hypocrisy.
How can the American people trust her to get us health care when she refuses to pay for health care for her own staff.
What is the penalty for NOT PAYING for health care?? Jail? Maybe Hillary will put herself in jail and thereby end her campaign.

Hi late nighters! Just wanted to share something cool that happened today. (sorry this is a bit long)
Today at the Denver airport, I struck up a conversation with a group of from a Synagog traveling to Cuba. We started talking and she noticed my Barack Obama jacket. (Which I wear PROUDLY every where I go). She asked me "doesn't his racism and his Reverend bother you?" Some in the group made comments of "it's not big deal", "he's not his reverend" and grumbled that she brought it up.
Thankfully, being part of this blog family & all the great links you all provide, I've read all the sermons the offending comments were pulled from and realized the comments were taken out of context.
I politely told her the comments were 15 second sound bites pulled from 3 sermons and if she could find the actual sermons on-line she could read/view them and realize as much. Pulling 45 seconds from a man who dedicated his life to the Church was a mischaracterization and in no way should she judge Barack on his minister that the media has decided to tear down.
She mentioned "well he should have left the church". And as I posted here a couple of weeks ago, it's not so easy to leave a church when you are a true believer. My family left a church when I was young & it was because we didn't truly believe (if we did, we would have found a different church after the offending comments of a minister. We used the offending comments as an excuse to leave, but not the REAL reason for leaving).
I asked her to take a 2nd look at Barack and she said she would & thanked me for giving her information. She went on to say "any one will be better than what we have now". My response "so long as we have the one that tells the truth!".
All of this because I wear my jacket with the Obama logo! I felt SO PROUD to be an educated volunteer of this campaign! I hope when she returns, she will learn more about Obama and vote for him in the general election.
I'm off to watch the rerun of Countdown. I'm very fond of the English guy!

Last week, I either read or saw on TV where some Superdelegates are getting turned off by the constant pressuring from Obama supporters. "Some Superdelegates are getting turned off by the constant pressuring from Obama supporters."
There is no need to for us to be pressuring super-delegates. We can handle Hillary - we ARE handling Hillary. She doesn't have the power to ruin this for us, because in the end we are too strong, too determined, and too enthusiastic. Our spirit and our hard work will win back disgruntled Hillary supporters. We will win back the Independents who Hillary has temporarily driven over to McCain. We will inspire the young people and the new voters to come out and support Barack in November.
No matter what Hillary does, we will prevail, and we will go on to earn a great victory in November for the Democratic Party!

Superdelegates: Note from David Plouffe |

Apr 2nd 2008 at 11:07 pm EDT
Note from David Plouffe in February:
While we intend to continue winning states and expanding our lead among the pledged delegates, and believe that will likely ensure that Barack is the Democratic nominee, we're also doing the work of reaching out to superdelegates and making sure as many as possible support Barack Obama.
Here's where you can play a key role.
Our work so far has taught us one important lesson: that your personal story about why you support Barack Obama is often the most powerful persuasion tool for someone who's undecided. That's true whether that undecided voter is your neighbor or a superdelegate.
The story of where you're from, what brought you into the political process, the issues that matter to you, and why you became part of this movement has the potential to inspire someone who could cast a deciding vote in this contest.
Our staff will compile stories from supporters like you and make them a key part of the conversation with superdelegates as Barack asks for their support.
Share your story to help persuade superdelegates now:
Link
I've received a lot of email from folks asking how best to help with the superdelegate effort, and this is it.
Your note, combined with those of other Obama supporters, will tell the story of an extraordinary movement of ordinary people -- a story with a common thread of hope that becomes all the more powerful when it brings together the diverse backgrounds and experiences of our supporters.
Together we're building something historic, and your story can help make someone else a part of it.
I look forward to hearing from you.
Thank you,
David

David is asking us to tell inspiring stories, not to badger super-delegates with pleas or threats.
Our movement is all about lifting people up. So, in our letters to super-delegates, let's lift them up with the power of our stories. Let's show them how Barack has inspired us, made us stronger, made us more determined to give something back to our country. Let's create letters that demonstrate the audacity of hope!

Robert,
I agree that applying too much pressure is worse than not enough. While i've ranted on here from time to time about it's time for the SDs to stand up, I think they have gotten the message.
Now it's time to let them think, and decide, without pressue. In many situations a salesman can keep talking and kill a sale. Eventually a saleman who keeps talking will say something that the 'buyer' can't accept (a deal killer). Even too many polite letters could kill the 'sale'.
So it's important to know when to stop talking and sounds like we are around that point now. It's a tough call to make, and everyone has to make their own choices, including the SDs.
As always, I enjoy reading your posts, they usually say what I wished I said, only better.
regards

I know LGBT who would like BO to go further and stand up for "marriage " between to people of the same sex.
For some the nuanced position is not good enough.

What a wonderful short video --
Chris Hitchens talking about Bill Clinton.

Hillary does not deliver jobs for NY as senator |

I do not think that Hillary can back up her comments about getting jobs for anyone in Pennsylvania since she did not deliver as the Senator for New York.
Look back on her record as far as getting jobs for New Yorkers. You will see that she did not come through on her promises.
Meanwhile Bill is still making veiled comments alluding to race campaigning in the south as if he is some good ole boy and not a millionaire many times over. He will promise anything and then turn his back on all of them as he basks in his wealth.
Hillary says that Bill is to be an ambassador at large but he has to explain the millions of dollars he has received from foreign interests first as to the conflict of interest that will arise.

JFK reference is exactly correct |

I think the JFK reference by Obama is not as well understood as it should be. I think some follow up by the Obama Campaign to educate about both the bay of pigs failed invasion and the missle crises would be more effective.
I don't think most people understand the details of the pay of pigs invasion, and the intelligence reports role in that decision. Nor do people appreciate that JFK learned from the bay of pigs to question the intelligence reports. This led JFK to question the reports on the cuban launch procedures. This wisdom allowed JFK to make a decision that may have well saved millions of lives in a nuclear war.
I've left out quite a few details that scholars will argue are essential to understanding both situations, but hey, I only have 400 words a post (and no spell check).
In any event, the reference on the "hardball" video will be lost on many people, in PA and elsewhere. A follow up, would be worthwhile. Obama can educate, inspire, lead, all while staying on message.
And referencing JFK will bring people to comparing Obama to JFK, without Obama having to mention it. People will say, JFK, he was young, he was inexperienced, he was a great orator, and a great president. I think letting people make that connection on their own will work fine.
But we do need to spell out the two situations that Obama referenced tonight on the 'hardball' talk.

Poor Gov. Richardson. I feel for him but I think he needs to stop explaining himself. The Clinton's are horrible people and at least he had the gumption (unlike some others .... Sheila Jackson Lee for instance) to take action on heralding in a change from the stale Clinton bully politics, but I think he makes himself look weak by responding to every statement.

** I can barely write because my heart is full, my tears free flowing, and the very depth of my soul is touched! What an awesome piece..both the written word and the media expression. It is so amazing to realize how many people outside America are watching this process and agree with us regarding Senator Obama’s character and intelligence. Great job, Senator.
He looks relaxed and confident and very presidential.
As a teacher whose district is struggling to help students of color close the achievement gap, I was particularly impressed at his response to how to help kids in urban districts succeed. Our district works with a group called the National Urban Alliance
Link
and one of the main points I took from their training is that to get kids to succeed, you have to get them to envision their "future story." They need to see themselves doing something 10, 20 years down the line. If they can't see a future for themselves, they have nothing to work toward. This is exactly what Obama explained in the last few minutes of the interview. I'm impressed that he appears so in tune with the education world when there are so many areas a president has to be versed in.

I wonder why this was written?
And on a side note, when I first logged into the paper's website this a.m., this story was one of the links on the main page. When I went back to find it just now, the link was nowhere to be found! I had to go to my browsing history to hit the page again. Is that just some technical stuff that happens? Or was it purposeful?

Hi everyone! The blog has been updated with the April 3rd *morning* news content!
For those who don't know, my name is Cris and I'm a Cuban-American who supports Barack Obama.
I run a blog that compiles pretty much every major news article and commentary that comes out each day about Senator Obama. My hope is that it's a useful tool for those who want to keep up with everything going on in the campaign. I also contribute my own commentary as well.
I hope this is helpful to everyone.
