Joe Biden REALLY put a human face on the campaign. I mean, he might as well have been sitting at our kitchen table with a cup of coffee. Real family feel. Spectacular.
Seeing Michelle tearing up when Beau related Joe's giving up his opportunity in DC for his kids was touching and priceless.
In terms of laying down the law, and in a seriously sensible and effecting way, Bill Clinton was...formidable. The Clinton's had me sick and furious during the primaries, but YOW! They really have smoked the convention. Thus far, they lead the pack in being persuasive. I liked Deval Patrick, Michelle was fine, Kerry was decent, Teddy was touching in that it mattered enough for him to ignore his doctors to attend, but I gotta say in fairness, after Barack, the Clintons are the MVPs this week. I'm really heartened that they got with the program.

Hey Greg, Michelle made me cry, too. Can you imagine Cindy McCain trying to get a tear through all those tucks?! What a sincere First Lady Michelle Obama will be. Sigh :0)
Dennis Kucinich gets an Honorable Mention here, too. He was FIRED UP last evening. He should have been on in prime time. I absolutely love his spirit.
And YES, the Clintons redeemed themselves during this convention, the old school Clintons showed up - not the possessed Clintons of the Primaries.
I guess they listened to their hearts after all.

I am SO sad I missed Dennis Kuccinich.
He seriously rocks out loud. Unfortunately,
I was still at work them. Of course they gave him a crappy time slot. It really gripes me how he gets marginalized.
And yes, the way McBush wound up with Cindy isn't all that charming either. If we were as classless as the neocons, we'd be all over that, media-wise.

Despite the phenomal and historic night that everyone experienced yesterday, the "GOP/polling Companies" are coming very soon to attack Obama Campaign. Do not be surprised when you see 64% not satisfied, 70% that, 55% this; McCain has taken the lead in national poll, and everything. That, just to quickly cool down yesterday tremendous success.
No one has to worry about those GOP polls. They are exclusively part of the GOP machine.
Any time Obama makes points for something big, they have to come so quick with well controlled polls in order to cool down the success, to confuse people, and to create some panic in Obama's camp.
They did it just after a "very successful foreign trip".
They have been doing it after any major event involving Obama's campaign, including the pick of Joe Biden.
They will do it just after the Democratic Convention to mislead voters that it was a failure.
They keep coming with no sense polls in order to keep Obama down.
How could they be serious when their numbers arbitrary show McCain is better than Obama in Iraq while 80% of American want this war to end?
Americans give Democrats the control of the Congress because they want them to end the Iraq war. 80% of American prefers the person who will end that war. Where those polls companies get those irrelevant numbers?
Any one has to bear it in mind that those polls will never be favorable to Obama, so we have just to forget and reject them. Obama was far behind in Iowa, but he won.
Those polls put Obama in a bad position before NC and Indiana primaries, but the results were favorable to him.
Their man Rudy Giuliani was widely leading the GOP polls in the primary, but he lost in ridiculous way when real voters came up.
In November, McCain will experience the Giuliani adventure. Real voters will give Obama a very landslide victory.
I would even suggest to those GOP/Poll companies to put McCain ahead of 10 points until November, as they were doing for their man Giuliani and leave us alone.
Meanwhile, the campaign would do its things, including reminding people no to pay attention to those misleading polls.
In this election, the campaign has to frequently remind people that we are not fighting only against McCain, but we are also fighting against the GOP/poll companies and the media

I agree. We are coming off really soft. I'm so tired of them always giving McCain compliments. McCain isn't going to make nice and goo goo eyes at Obama next week. They are going to shred him apart. We finally have a large viewing audience through the local media, for those without cable, to finally see who Obama is and what McCain "really" stands for. But it went over flat. It was good, but as a Dem, I was a little disappointed. I would've liked to have seen a video on kids who are struggling with education because of the NO Child Left Behind Act, a video of children in AMERICA who are hungry and starving. Where are the CHILDREN!
They should've played a portion of Spike Lee's Documentary, When the Levee's Broke, show the people suffering from Katrina and show McCain and Bush celebrating McCain's birthday, smiling and giggling, while people were dying in New Orleans.
Show it, Say It and Show it Again. Pictures Speak a tthousand words.
Al Gore speaks tonight, but I don't think he will hit McCain hard either.
The best part was seeing Biden and how he is a normal guy like most Americans. And I really liked Hillary's speech, it was moving. I actually cried and I didn't really care for her much during the primaries. But she was relatable at the DNC. I liked Bill's speech and was happy when they cheered for him for so long. John Kerry was the best in hammering McCain, then Biden. I really liked Kerry's speech. But the people without cable didn't see Kerry's speech so it was essentially a wash.
Barack Obama needs to be relatable. He needs to talk to the American people like they've got GED's, not PHD's. He needs to be relatable today. I would tell him, don't use any words with more than 6 characters. That's the biggest complaint I hear from independents or rural area people, is that he speaks like he's uppity and uses big words. Well, for me I like an articulate human being, but I understand some people are put off by it. So he needs to show his down to earth side. He needs to show that he's smart, ready, and that he's an ordinary man with a diverse background....essentially that he's one of them.
Just needed to get that off my chest.
Go Obama/Biden!

DID CNN tell their viewers this information because i didn't know that small information until today researching PUMA.
People, This woman came to the Dem Convention to get the PUMA message across and CNN gave this Scam group it's 15 minutes during the convention. PUMA is now using Ann in their blogs and Youtube attack ad to recruit members. ANN PRICE MILLS is not some innocent lone Hilary supporter in the audience. This woman was a planning on CNN,MSNBC or FOX News to find her.
Yes!!! Obama supporters should BLACKOUT main media(CNN,MSNBC and Fox news) but supporters should ALWAY keep an eye on their ENEMY while reaching for the prize.

No doubt! Ya, bigtime!
OK, so there's a convention center FULL of people, and ONLY this ONE "all choked up" Hillary "loyalist" gets interviewed. And further, when some nobody gets interviewed by MSM, they usually get like 5 or 10 seconds. CNN gave her a close up for about two minutes, letting her repeat her whole schtick TWICE! No average "person in the crowd" gets that. It definately sat real weird in my head as I watched it.
But CNN rots anyway. Watch C-SPAN. CNN BS'd over most of the speakers with pointless ad-libs and dissentary (oops, I mean commentary). I am so sick of Blitzers pathetic puss, smarmy Cooper, and vacuous news model Brown. All chattering worthless pablum, while convention speakers are inaudible in the background. It's like, if you're not one of the 5 superstars of the convention, you get NO coverage at all. Infuriating. C-SPAN gives you the WHOLE UNINTERRUPTED CONVENTION.
Can't wait for Barack's address. I'm betting he's gonna pull out some new and powerful stuff we haven't heard before, and he's gonna deliver it with a plaintive fury!
To better days!

The residents of New Orleans are coming upon the third anniversary of Hurricane Katrina.
Where was John McCain?
Celebrating his birthday with President Bush.
Cut to a family of the disaster talking about how it devasted their lives.
Cut to the story of storage of supplies that FEMA had stored and gave away. Not to the people of N.O. but somewhere else. Talk about the levies and the possiblity of them failing if another Hurricane happened.
Show a picture of Bush and McCain on the tarmac laughing. Then cut back to the citizens in the flooding water trying to get to high ground.
Is this how John McCain puts Country first?

1. Put Rove in jail
2. Send George Bush to the roughest and toughest part of Iraq
3. Send McCain back to Arizona where he can meet with his lawyer to discover how many houses he and his mistress ... er ... I mean, wife own.
4. Make Mitt Romney go cold turkey on his addiction to oil ... um, I mean Brylcreem.
5. Have the IRS audit the McCain's books.
6. Bring Fox News up on charges for crimes against humanity.
7. Find some way to pull CNNs FCC license.
8. Make it impossible for all Fox News correspondents (except Alan Colmes and Shep Smith) to find work.

Did you see how gentle Michelle was with Barack's great uncle. That family is a true melting pot!!
Just like America.
Today in Billings, Montana Senator Barack Obama surprised me one mo' again with his genius. The topic was Veterans Rights and BO had statistics on Veterans benefits and facts that pertained only to Montana. It was awesome. There was an elderly Crow chief in the audience who asked BO about what he will do for the First Americans when he gets in office. BO was so kind to the chief and then he told him that he had been adopted into the Crow Nation and his name is Barack Black Eagle.
I'm amazed and awed by Senator Barack Obama each and everyday. And I know he will be the next president of the United States.

No wonder why us Dems get portrayed as wussies.
As I see it, there will be 4 more years of GW/Chenney... at which point, I might just relocate out of this country.

I agree. I'm not leaving my country however. But even the Republicans hit the Republicans harder than the Dems have been doing at the DNC.
I was so tired of them saying McCain is my friend. Ugggh! People's lives are at stake, the economy is at stake and they're giving McCain compliments. They are going to ridicule Obama and shred him. They will paint him as a celebrity with his 75,000 crowd. They will hammer him and hammer him.
They didn't seem to have an overall theme either, each speech had it's great points, but they didn't connect the dots. The most memorable part thus far, has been the Obama kids and Hillary's speech. Other than that, it was all forgettable.
I know some will say, Obama doesn't want to stoop to their level. Well, he doesn't have to stoop but he can afford to get a little gritty. They all could've gotten gritty. I know he wants to change the face of politics, and that's all good, but he can change the face of politics and still let the other speakers get aggressive. We're Americans, we all have a little grit in us, that's how America has had so much success in the past, aside from Bush.
The weekend is coming and so is Labor Day, the DNC will be forgotten and then the RNC rolls in and for several days American's will hear McCain's people tear into Obama. Not to mention, alot of people will be off Monday and will not be as tired and thus may stay up to watch the convention.
Overall, it was good but kind of fluffy.

Did you see Patrick Murphy tonight? Did you see John Kerry? Both gave the most passionate and honest speeches on why McCain shouldn't be President. There were veterans everywhere tonight speaking on why we need Obama.
Just wait till this convention is over. Surrogates, surrogates everywhere!!!
And dems have always done this at conventions. This is nothing new.

If you have cable, you saw John Kerry, if you didn't he didn't come on local news. Alot of rural Americans and elderly don't have cable. So, while I thought Kerry did the best at swinging the hammer, many others did not.
Two things missing with great emphasis. Children in poverty and struggling with poor education and the victims of Katrina. That really needs to be focused on, not just mentioned once or twice. Play a portion of Spike Lee's documentary, Broken Levee's. Play a portion of Oprah's segment on children in America starving and struggling with poor education.
Kids and suffering hit home and resonate with just about everyone. Show how Bush and McCain ignored them. Show how McCaina and Bush were eating cake while the victims of Katrina were dying and struggling to survive.
We need strong images that will linger for days, weeks, months, and even a lifetime. They need to paint the pictures with detail strokes. They were too abstract when mentioning those two issues.
I have to give it to Michelle, she looked great and her speech was awesome. So was Hillary's and I didn't even like her during the primaries, but that day, I empathized with her.
JMHO.

we dont effect the planet it is almost physically impossible for us to. let me explain it to you this way lets look at the greenhouse gases as if they were french fries. you start out with 100 French fries. you take 95 away for water vapor and 2 more for a small amount of various other things. that leaves you the 3 C02 french fries. ok now studies have shown that we produce one percent of that 3 percent of C02 so out of those 100 french fries the amount of green house gas we actually omit is about the size of a hair.

So I thought we could start by standing up to reveal how intelegent and educated and informed we really are.
So I’ll start, I have a Master’s degree. I have been a sponge for knowledge for my whole life, and if I didn’t know anything about something, I worked to get the answers. That is how I ended up here. I learned about how the whole political system worked and voted and volunteered and kept learning and kept knocking doors.
I am well informed, I am intelligent, but most of all I am real, when something touches my soul I cry, I laugh, I am do them at the same time. Does this make me stupid, uninformed?
Absolutely not; I get to use both sides of my brain and my intuition and compassion to enjoy this historic event in history.

1. mitt romney: hate to say it but the biggest thing barring him is his mormonism. People have the misconception that mormons dominate politics in the west. They are most influential in Utah and somewhat in Nevada, but are only 2% in Colorado. Romney might help a little in Michigan, but he would be devastating in the southern tossups. I believe that he would turn off the evangelicals who gave bush the win in states like Virginia, NC, GA, FL and most importantly, OH. Also, add his houses and Mccains and you have more than a dozen worth over $35 million. Plus, he has flipped on so many issues it is ridiculous. (Remember: "I will do more for gay people than Ted kennedy!")
Tim Pawlenty: Tim Who? What has he ever done? Where is he from? What is his record? Another boring white guy...great... Maddow made a great point: the annniversary of Katrina is tomorrow. Add that and the easy to connect bridge collapse and you have a terrible omen. Besides, Pawlenty won governorship with under %50 support P.S.: He would be destroyed in the debates
Ridge: He is from a swing-state (PA). He was governor with exec. exp. He served in Homeland Security albeit under Bush. He would be the best pick for mccain, BUT he is pro-choice. That can no longer happen.
Lieberman: Just because he probably is the person mccain is most comfortable with. yay for bipartisan and support for iraq. But uh-oh, they disagree on EVERYTHING ELSE.
Christ: Yay now he's almost married (Chuck Todd said it best). He's a whatever pick and he is always unusually tan (ewwww)
Hutchinson/Palin: Would be more exciting, but won't happen. Hutchinson wants to be a governor and palin in unknown and is in the midst of a scandal--> cough Stevens--> cough Keating 5 cough
Fiornia: woman, JOB KILLING MACHINE, golden parachute,
Anyone else can contribute if they want.

You don't have to be vicious to stop showing McCain so much undeserved respect. Even experts know it's a bad idea to preface every criticism with "McCain is my friend" or "I respect McCain's service". George Lakoff explained in his last book why a moderate message doesn't attract independents like most campaign managers think it will. Seems that people can hold only one version of reality in their heads at a time, so independents look at both parties' frames and choose the one that grabs them. They are not looking for something that's made up of a little bit from both sides.
I still think we're winning despite that, but I thought so in 2004, too. For the same reason, I'm disappointed that Obama's running as a virtual independent and distancing himself from the Democratic brand in his points about why his Presidency will be vastly superior to McCain's. Enough already about how "party doesn't matter".
Independents go by their gut feeling about the candidate and the message, and are not more likely to vote for you if you keep repeating you don't stand for a party. In fact, you are probably injecting a note of unappealing timidity. And that line is certainly not going to help get a sympathetic Congress elected. You're just misleading the independents into thinking there'll be no difference if they vote for a Republican representative to work with you.
It's too important for the country that Dems get our policies back on track. SO DON'T BLOW IT FOR US BY COMING OFF TOO TIMID OR APOLEGETIC FOR BEING A DEMOCRAT. IT'S A TURN-OFF TO INDEPENDENTS.

Bill Clinton's speech was right on. The roll call and nomination earlier were fantastic. Hillary has been so gracious and supportive. It really is all "falling into place".
And... WHAT a surprise to have Barack arrive tonight after that speech of Joe Biden's.
I loved it all. You know that Biden's mom is so proud of him. She's going to be a real addition to the "extended" First Family next year.
I'm so "psyched" about tomorrow night. It's like Christmas Eve. Hard to go to bed, and get to sleep.
I hope every one is attending a party with fellow Obama volunteers and supporters tomorrow night??
I will be with my fellow volunteers here in small town Indiana. We're all gathering at a local Buffalo Wild Wings.... the same place we had our party the night of the primary. (The same night that the Hillary volunteers decided not to celebrate her win here.)

It doesnt, I am Roger from Covington Texas, I am a registered republican who has abandoned my party for "Change" So stop the crap and quit attacking me, I have done nothing to you.
Take your Xanax friend, it will take away the rage!

I don't know why he attacked you. I went back to read all your comments. Your comments were factually accurate when you stated the media bias towards Obama. I think he misread your comment.
He has called me a TROLL too and pulled my name just like you name when I expressed my opionion. I think he is a passionate Obama supporter but I say just ignore and move on. I read the blog once a day and post once in a while .....I don't have to agree with everything Senator Obama or what some of his supporters say on this blog but that doesn't make us all TROLLS and RID.

To all you easterners, and maybe some of us westerners, I say a very good nighty night. I will be dreaming great dreams I am sure. I am not sure why I was designing a special air/space craft and showing it to Obama last night, but maybe I'll have more information for him tonight on how to make it completely green energy, Oh yea, that was the point I was trying to make to him when I woke up :) :)
We'll see. Sweet dreams all.

It was such a nice surprise to see Obama on the stage at the end of Biden's acceptance speech.
As Claire McCaskill said tonight, a lot of work remains to be done.

The only way to go is C-Span, I saw all of the speakers, I enjoyed the convention, without seeing or hearing what I have read on Huffpo about the infighting going on.
Boy, this shows to go you, that there is trouble in MSM, thank God for C-Spann. Now to hear THE SPEACH, without them will be sheer heaven!

The mean behavior of the McCain campaign during this Democratic Convention instead helped to unite Democrats. Republicans were expecting drama and conflict; instead, to their chagrin, they got amazement and resounding acclamation for the Democratic nominee! The country has now seen how mean and his team are--the Karl Rove dirty politics operators. That is the kind of politics that brought us to the dire place we are in now and that we MUST get away from. Finally, we should never toy with the idea of an extended Bush Presidency through McCain. McCain will surely take us quickly into World War III. Remember his "bomb, bomb, bomb" quip!
