This is for Joyce, an amazing Obama volunteer, par none.

I first met Joyce canvassing in PA (traveling up from VA). She spent hours going door to door with me, without complaint. I didn’t find out that she was a liver transplant survivor until we had nearly finished the day and 50 doors knocked!

We ended that day in Harrisburg, PA, to see Barack in person…her first in person experience. That continues to be my highlight of “why I am working so hard to elect Obama as our President.” Joyce, though working hard, had not seen him speaking live And I had, a couple times by now, through sheer determination. So, though we had canvassed for hours and were tired, an hour and half from home, I was happy to drive north to Harrisburg so that she could experience Obama live and up close.

We had to walk a distance to get to enter for the speech by Obama (it’s now early-March). This was tiring for Joyce. Luckily, we met another great Obama volunteer from Loudoun Co. (our home base) who had been door-knocking in Harrisburg that day. “Stay put, I’ll get you VIP passes so Joyce doesn’t need to walk so far.” AND he did. AND, through the help of a PA volunteer, Joyce got to sit in the VIP seating and see Obama up close and personal that night. And though we did not get home til the wee hours of the morning, it was one of the best nights of my life.

So, why this long story? Cancer has reoccurred for Joyce. She is now in the hospital, the same hospital she has been where she has been registering voters at for weeks now. Indeed, she is still registering voters (look out whoever enters her door)!

Joyce’s dream is to be at the big event/speech on Thursday. As an African-American woman who has always lived a life of “yes we can”, this is her greatest wish.

AND we, who have come together in Loundoun County, to elect the greatest President in history, will, I underline WILL, make this happen for Joyce. We have Steve (remember Harrisburg?) who will travel with her. We have on-the-ground delegates in Denver who will get the ticket and take care of them both once they land.

AND we WILL make this DREAM come true.

Because this amazing group of grassroots volunteers in Loudoun County, VA will help make this happen for Joyce…one of use…part of us….always us. We, you, all of us are the example of what the Obama community is about.

YES WE CAN!!!!!!!!!!

UPDATE....we are now down to the wire...and still working to break Joyce out of the hospital, on to the plane, and there at the big event on Thursday...her dream.

AND Thursday is all about "I HAVE A DREAM" ... and this will happen. We'll have the final pieces in place tomorrow, with dear Steve traveling with Joyce, with oxygen tanks going with her...becauxe...YES WE CAN!!!

Whoa! If Obama supporters are to bite their tongue with respect to Hillary, then I believe that you can do the same when it comes to Barack..you know since it is kinda his blog..and folks here seem to think that he will kick McP.O.Dubya's butt, as well (so much so that the majority of us follow up our words with action on the ground through canvassing, phone banking, registering new voters, etc)...

I thought she was very real and a strong lady from Alabama. I applaud her because she had the guts to take on the equal pay issue and take it to court against a major company. It must have been draining emotionally to do that and then to lose by one vote when she was RIGHT. That took courage and humility. I only wish the song after her speech was Helen Reddy's , I am woman.

While I have not been a avid fan of HRC, I do think that she did fairly well in her attempt to unite the party. Everybody can't be BO! Don't be so short sighted. This man was one of the first names being thrown around for VP! As a Virginian canvassing for him, he's a shue in for senator. This gives BO another dem. senate as Warner will be replacing Repub. John WArner (reiting).

It's the best speech I've heard him make and the crowd reaction was great. Did you watch him on MSM and taking thier viewpoint? Or did you watch on CSPAN and form your own opinion?

This is a brilliant man who mirrors BO so much. Watch for Warner in the future. BO knew who Warner is and what he's about when he chose him to be keynote. He also bolsters BO's chances in VA.

I think the Democratic tactic of laughing at McCain (all night at the convention) is so much better for our country than tearing him apart piece by piece. His own policies and mouth will do that.

McCain is laughable. But Bush and Cheney weren't, and we need to get Barack elected Nov. 4.

MSM didn't cover Gov.Ted Strickland of OH as he made some statements against McCain.I'm watching CSPAN but switched to see if they would cover him. I haven't seen much of the convention. I saw a bit of Mark Warner and about one minute of this awful profile with the tinny soundtrack.

Here's the deal: If (FOR SHAME) Sen. Barack were unable to perform his duties as the nominee, LORD HELP ME, I do not want the junior Senator from New York.

I know Sen. Joe is new to the fold but can't he do it? What's the protocol?

PUMA is the correct sentiment about the wrong candidate.

I want Sen. Mrs. Clinton benched permanently.

McCain is more pain, not the same.
If you want something to focus on, think about this. McCain is surrounded by, given his ideas by, the hardest core neoconservatives in Washington. These are the folks who now think of Bush was a sell-out, a softie. And add to that McCain has a history of key decisions during outburts of extreme anger. Not a reassuring combination.

So far, 10 minutes into her speech, she mentioned Barack a couple of times and now it's all about her, who she met, who said they were counting on her, blah blah blah. Now she's swung into "we" but no mention of Barack again.

The look on Michelle Obama's face mirrors how I'm feeling ... we don't trust her, we don't want her talking anymore, we want her behind the scenes where she belongs.

She's still talking and I hope I'm wrong. Maybe she'll bring it back to Barack. Maybe not.

I am done with both Clintons.

Truly, Sheri, it makes me sick that I ever had reason to doubt her.

Sen. Barack is an excellent candidate, without doubt, without looking back. But, the fact is he WON me over.

Sen. Clinton LOST. It wasn't just that she didn't win. Then she went low and to the gutter. Clawing for power is not befitting a First Lady.

Annie, my first priority was always supporting BO. If anyone has maxed out to BO in both the primary AND the GE ($4600), I think their next priority should be to give something to the DNC.

The DNC will also help elect BO. Now, I've maxed out and given the DNC more than I could afford already. Since I will be paying off my cc for months, I can't give HC any money. I'm glad she gave a great speech but I don't have the hundreds of millions of dollars, nor the 6 houses she has. Can't do it, I'm tapped out.

The Nineteenth Amendment was certified on August 26, 1920.

The Nineteenth Amendment (Amendment XIX) to the United States Constitution prohibits each of the states and the federal government from denying any citizen the right to vote because of that citizen's sex.

The right of citizens of the United States to vote shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or by any State on account of sex.

The Nineteenth Amendment was specifically intended to extend suffrage to women. It was proposed on June 4, 1919 and ratified on August 18, 1920.

It was ratified on August 18, 1920, upon its ratification by Tennessee, the thirty-sixth state to do so. Ratification was certified on August 26, 1920.
