The Times endorsed Hillary, but the endorsement itself was relatively luke-warm. I say that only because it was also applauding Obama and was identifying many of his strengths as well. But officially, it endorsed Clinton.

Just got home from a college visit with my son to bowling green, read the paper and saw that barack was coming to youngstown monday. GREAT, glad to hear it. In my modest opinion If he really wants to know youngstown/ warren problems, don't visit GM or the ytown incubator like every other politician that comes to town. Find one of the thousand of families in the area that have a twon person income, work 40 hours a week and still have a tough time making ends meet, talk with them, find out what thier nneds are. cruise through the east side or the south side of ytown or the south side of warren, look at the once glorius old neighborhoods that are now run down crime ridden unsafe neighborhoods, send a message of hope to those people, find a way to help them, find jobs, explain how they can take care of the medical costs for thier families. Talk to us, they common middle calss blue collar workers. We are many and we have a voice, we need someone to listen and make a change. We hear your message and we like what we hear, YOU WILL GET OUR VOTE, PLEASE FOLLOW THROUGH

This might be old but I thought I would post this bit of info. I'm glad Obama is getting all these endorsements but the elephant in the room is that John Edwards and Al Gore haven't endorsed. I read a troubling article yesterday that said Edwards was leaning toward Clinton so I went to the Edwards website and sent him an email. Then I noticed there was a phone number and address to his HQ. So I said what the h#ll and I called the number today. I was expecting it to be either disconnected or just voice mail but I got a live person!!!! So I asked her if I could leave a message for John Edwards and she said she could take one for me. I told her I think Edwards should endorse Obama because:

1: Their message/actions for standing up for the middle class and the poor are similar.
2: I have great respect for him and I would like to see him work in an administration (Obama's) that would reward his work instead of trying to squash it (Clinton's)
3: He has always spoke out against special interests and Clinton gets money from more special interests then anyone so I don't see how he could support Clinton etc....

After I was done she asked what state I was from and thanked me for calling!!

If we all call/email/FAX his campaign and tell him what we think we could get him to see Obama as the clear choice before it's too late. This may have already been thought of but I was so proud of myself for doing it, I just had to pass along the info.

ALL OF US, ESPECIALLY NY RESIDENTS, SHOULD TAKE FEW MINUTES TO WRITE THE NEW YORK TIMES A LETTER ASKING THEM TO CONSIDER WITHDRAWING THEIR ENDORSEMENT OF SENATOR CLINTON IN LIGHT OF HER REFUSAL TO PROVIDE ADEQUATE FINANCIAL DISCLOSURE WITHOUT JUSTIFICATION UNTIL AFTER THE NOMINATION PROCESS. WE HAVE THE RIGHT TO FULL INFORMATION REGARDING THE SOURCES OF HILLARY AND BILL CLINTON'S INCOME BEFORE A DECISION ON WHO WILL BE THE NOMINEE FOR OUR PARTY.

It is unfortunate that Karl Rove and republicans are doing to democratic party in primaries that they will not be able to do in General Election and as such will seize White House again in Jan, 2009.
What is wrong with you all? Democratic party almost represents 46% known democrats, there are known 13% unaffiliated or independents and then there are over41% republicans. Obama is getting 60% of (46+13)% or say 36% of total votes. You know at least 20% of democrats are not race blind and all of republicans who are now supporting and matching even funds for him are doing to see Hillary gone otherwise she will beat crap out of McCain. They know they will beat OBAMA in general and thus hold White House for four more years. SO what is wrong with you all and you do not see the truth with blinding goggels on your eyes.
No EDWARDS and GORE are smart and they can read who on CNN and FOX is still giving them talking points and who is helping OBAMA and day he is nominated to demcoratic nomination how these CHEMILIANS will drop him and change color to keep the white house and they are not going ot recommend OBAMA.
I wish I could give him vote in Texas, but no, I know the REPUBLCANS well, I was one of them and I know what they going to do. If you need nation saved, ask OBAMA to be VP of Hillary and We will ask same of her to accept OBAMA as her VP.

Unfortunately, the New York Times endorsed Senator Clinton. But that was to be expected. Besides, I think a lot of non-New Yorkers take a lot more stock in the op-ed pages than in the main editorial page. And many of the op-ed contributors (David Brooks, Maureen Dowd, Bob Herbert, Frank Rich) are much more Obama-friendly than the main editorial staff.

Read Frank Rich's article on the "Civil War" in the Democratic Party. And read David Brooks' article on "The Cooper Concerns". These two articles convinced me more than anything else of why we should be wary of Senator Clinton's divide-and-rule politics in the Oval Office. Instead of challenging Cooper on the legitimacy of his concerns about her health care plan, she opted for a character assassination instead. And because she feels she's lost the black vote, she won't spend another dime on the black voter. That's not the sort of president I want.

Let's go out, raise funds and political energy for a president who will not only encourage us towards change that we can believe in, but also towards the sort of change that is worthy of belief.

To be fair, David Brooks did his best on the News Hour this week to give HRC some advice on what she needs to do to turn things around.

Thoughtful, yes. Doable given her character and personality? Not likely.

If this news gets anyone fired up enough to give a little more, I am close to reaching my fundraising goal. I know we have all given a great deal, in most cases more than we ever thought we would give to a political campaign. But even five and ten dollar contributions are a big help, especially when we all give them as much as we can. Hello all you great hard-working people. I live in the UK, and just wanted to say that the Guardian newspaper - a top-notch paper over here - basically endorsed Obama Saturday 16th Feb with an article entitled The Substance of Change. I'm hopeless with links and such (give me a break - I'm 54 years old) - but if you look at guardian.co.uk, then choose US, then US elections 2008, look for The Substance of Change. It's beautifully written and deeply convincing (yes, ok, I was already convinced - but if anyone wasn't ...). I tried submitting it to that cool obama site by travis at stanford university, but i was too dumb to succeed ...
Keep up the great work, all of you - wish i was there!

And it was on the front page. They are shotty, but I'm sure some Obama supporters lurk at the NYT and that's where the truth-in-journalism shines through.

I watched David Brooks' give his comments on NPR about what Hillary should or should not do to turn her campaign around, and also found them interesting. What I found MORE interesting/alarming was the statement that, to date, HRC has spent over $200,000 in 'super delegate lobbying AND contributions to campaigns', but that Obama has spent OVER $600,000 so far in super delegate lobbying and campaign contributions!

PLEASE... Somebody explain this to me. I find that idea absolutely in conflict with his message. When I heard it, it made me ill. Please someone help clarify this statement made on NPR yesterday.

According to a NY Times srticle it sounds worse than it actually is. Keep in mind that many of the superdelegates are fellow democratic lawmakers. Basically it said that Sen. Obama, over the course of several years, many before his run for president has made or helped to raie $600,000 to help get fellow democrats (prominent party lawmakers some of whom are super delegates) elected.

a lot of Americans seem to feel very strongly about America's international standing, the harm that the Bush administration has done to it, and the good that Obama will do (is already doing, in fact) - so international coverage is relevant, even if it doesn't garner votes ...

We must do whatever we can so millions can view this video. It so directly places a strong perspective on the more substantive issues that so many "surface level" thinkers feel are lacking from Barack. For those who choose to be blind to his remarkable intelligence, substance, insight, experience, leadership, toughness as well as compassion, well, I simply have to believe that most of those qualities must be lacking in their lives, for they do not know them, therefore they cannot see them.

Below is a link to the With One Voice fundraising campaign for Senator Obama. It was started in honor of the voter in South Carolina who gave this movement $3.01 and a bible verse. She, like most of us, could not afford to max out her financial contribution. However, the spirit of this movement is not a few people doing a lot, it’s many people doing everything they can.

The goal is to echo our friend 10,000 times over and raise $30,100. So far we’ve raised over $6900 from over 210 people.

There are lots of really good articles about Obama in the Guardian ... I will ask one of my sons to teach me how to do all this stuff ... (HUGE interest over here, and indeed, all over the world - I know it might not have much effect on the elections themselves, but it has a lot to do with America's standing in the world (going UP!) ... The Portland Oregonian, the largest newspaper in the Pacific Northwest, endorsed Obama on February 2nd.

Oregon doesn't vote until May but it's never too early to support Barack!

So folks, for Texas we have Dallas, Houston, Austin and San Antonio all endorsing for Obama. AND El Paso, which is 85% Latino.

I heard second hand that the Baltimore Sun endorsed Obama before our Maryland primary. The Washington Post really didn't say anything definitive just before the Potomac Primary. The Sun is the only other major paper for Maryland

Normally, I do not get involved in politics but after spending 21 years in the Air Force defending democracy and protecting freedom all over the world, I just couldn't sit by and allow this beloved country go down like that. Hi Obama family,

I've been doing taxes and FAFSA forms for two of my kids who will be in college next year. Was it Huckabee who said he would do away with both? (Perhaps I should vote for him . . . . only kidding gang, don't flip out).

Anyway, I know someone suggested it before, but for some reason it's hitting me tonight as being extremely important -- shouldn't Obama go to Hawaii? Even if it's for a very short time. I just have this terrible fear that HRC is going to do all she can to win it and then use it as a way to slow down the momentum. What could be worse than to lose in your home state?

Thanks so much. I wish I would have had this when my in laws voted. I do not think people understand the consequences of HRC's plan. I really hate the idea of being forced to buy something and she has not even stated that it would be good health care. She makes me feel like a criminal. I am self emplyed and just because I may make more than $50k a year does not mean that I can afford the high premiums of health care.

I agree with Obama that people want health care they just cannot afford it. Duh! Why do we need to be forced as though we are going around spending the money on expensive shoes, cars, etc. Sure the select few may be doing that but I simply cannot afford it for myself.

If Obama does not get nominated I cannot vote for Hillary because I cannot deal with this plan of mandating health insurance. The difference between Obama and Hillary is that he believes in the American people and she does not.

I hope that she is forced to address this plan at the debates and I hope that our guy pounces on it the loopholes.

I saw a really great analysis of the healthcare issue by Gergen and Zakaria and they said that most essential issue to work on first, vis a vis healthcare, is cost control. Otherwise, you may get expensive, inflation-prone, mediocre healthcare administered in crumbling facilities administered by providers who have no incentive to acquire cutting edge technology. It needs to work for the providers, doctors and patients.

We have primaries/caucuses and a debate within the next week: on Feb 19 and 21. My family plans to have a day of prayer for Barack on the day of each primary/caucus/debate and on the day before. Please join us in 4 days of prayer for Barack on Mon, Feb 18 through Thur, Feb 21. Please structure the prayer according to your preference (individual prayer, group prayer, prayer 2 times a day, prayer 3 times a day, etc).

Someone said in an email recently that Hillary has some serious prayer warriors in her camp. Apparently, they prayed for Hillary all day on the Tuesday of the New Hampshire primary and also the night before. It may be their prayers that caused her unexpected win in New Hampshire. As the apostle Paul wrote, “For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but … against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms” (Ephesians 6:12).

Let us cast aside doubts and remember the words of Jesus: “Whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours” (Mark 11:24). We have to believe that God will grant our requests, not only that He is able to grant them.

To echo someone’s comments previously, let us also pray for Hillary Clinton - that she will re-assess the choices she has made and that she will allow God to make her the woman He wants her to be. I’m confident that God will cause her to lose this nomination, not just for America’s sake but for Hillary’s own sake - a severe jolt to push her to look at herself in the mirror and change course. I will be posting reminders about the days of prayer.

Hillary's camp are trying to take our slogan by using a variation of it "Yes we will" instead of "Yes We Can". I say that we take it back!

We came up with both slogans. As I have heard the rallying cry of Yes We Will as a variation on Yes We CAn on these forums for at least weeks if not the last month.

What I suggest is at our rallys as Obama chants "Yes We Can", we chant both "Yes We Can", and "Yes We Will". We will need to alternate them back and forth.

It will liven up the group a bit more and when ever her crowd chants "her" slogan, they will be championing Obama. I think it is only fair. They are following him anyway.

if you are on disability or any other reason you dont usually file for taxes, YOU NEED TO FILE THIS YEAR in order to get the rebate. IF you earned over $3000 qualifyable income whihc includes SSI/SSDI you can get up to $300 for a single and $600 for couple rebate.

Use special 1040A form at IRS site.

I know there are many people on this site willing to give part of these checks to this campaign, so file early.

I have been seeing comments in various news comments and reader comments to the effect "ITS ALL OVER" "WE ARE WINNING"

Listen folks..one of the greatest dangers for supporters of ANYONE running for office is that they get overconfident and then fail to show up at the polls because they feel their vote wont be needed. MAKE NO MISTAKE ABOUT IT...YOUR VOTE WILL BE NEEDED...Dont drop the ball now. It wont be over until that last nail is in the coffin and HILLY concedes, and NOT ONE SECOND BEFORE.

The toughest states ARE COMING...THEY HAVE NOT PASSED...For Obamas and the countrys sake, don't be complacent. Make damn sure you and every last one of our supporters gets his tookis down to that booth and votes.

Remember... every vote NOT CAST FOR BARACK IS A VOTE FOR HILLARY

Im sorry . I forgot to add in my original post about Hillary stealing and hearing her chant "YES WE WILL...YES WE WILL...YES WE WILL" from our guy, that I failed to hear a single person in the crowd pick up the chant after her. Perhaps they were smarter than her and immediately recognized her stupidity and would have felt foolish.

Hillary's camp are trying to take our slogan by using a variation of it "Yes we will" instead of "Yes We Can". I say that we take it back!

We came up with both slogans. As I have heard the rallying cry of Yes We Will as a variation on Yes We CAn on these forums for at least weeks if not the last month.

What I suggest is at our rallys as Obama chants "Yes We Can", we chant both "Yes We Can", and "Yes We Will". We will need to alternate them back and forth.

It will liven up the group a bit more and when ever her crowd chants "her" slogan, they will be championing Obama. I think it is only fair. They are following him anyway.

I watched the Founders Gala in Wisconsin on C-Span tonight. What an awesome speech and feeling I was left with: There is our next President, Obama! He spoke like a president, looked like a president, and inspired us to make him president.

Can Lawrence Lessig's You Tube videos be posted on the front page of the site? 20 min on why I am 4Barack and 10 min on Hillary can win. These sum up the two candidates in a most simplistic but profound way, and should be the basis for the campaign going forward. Everyone needs to see these two videos. Lessig talks about honesty, integrity, ideals and substance. I know it will help make decisions for those who are undecided and give more inspiration, if that is possible, to the supporters who have been working so hard for Obama.

Aloha Everyone,

As the sunsets here in Hawaii, we continue to be proud of our native son, Senator Barak Obama. This Tuesday the Democrats from Hawaii will convene for the presidential caucus. While we hope it will be a landslide victory for the home town hero, the talk around town is that it will be a close race.

The Clinton’s has sent Chelsea to Oahu and Maui. She is taking up a lot of headlines on the local news. People have been really warming up to her. On our side, Barak’s half-sister Maya has been stomping hard for her brother. The airwaves have been filled with Obama television commercials and radio spots. Clinton has not spent any money advertising in Hawaii.

All this advertising is costing the Obama campaign large sums of money. Hopefully, all the money spent will be well worth it come Tuesday night.

While I have been trying hard calling and talking to all my friends and family, I have continued to promote my personal fundraising page. I thank all those who have donated and I am really trying hard to reach my goal soon. We need to continue to pour money into the Obama campaign. It is what keeps the campaign going into the right direction.

I humbly ask for whatever you can donate. I know times are rough, but whatever you can donate will be greatly appreciated.

The Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel endorsement points out a couple things that I've been telling everyone since I decided to support Barack last March.

First, the editors mention his "broad, nuanced approach that recognizes that problems are linked to others." His global view of the issues (in both the abstract and literal senses of the word "global") was what tipped me in his favor over Richardson. I have a tendency to think similarly, seeing how everything is interconnected, but in the past this led me into pessimism and defeatism, because I thought along the lines "we can't fix this before we fix that, but we can't fix that before we fix this."

But Obama phrases it in the positive: If we withdraw from Iraq, the savings would be enough to provide health insurance to every American, to reform our educational system, to invest in rebuilding our infrastructure and creating the green jobs of the future. Better education will better prepare the next generation for these jobs, which will in turn allow us to break our dependence on foreign oil. Thus we will be less entangled in unstable regions of the world, which led us into the mess of Iraq while endangering our security in the first place.

This same global view extends to his approach to organizing and building the movement, drawing together people from all backgrounds and walks of life, recognizing their common interest and mutual benefits.

The other point addresses the question of experience:
"His experience as community organizer, state legislator, U.S. senator and campaigner who took a dream and became a credible contender measures up well against Clinton's experience as poverty lawyer, first lady and U.S. senator."

The Clinton camp insists like a broken record that she is more "experienced." This implies that nothing matters outside of experience in Washington, that no other kind of experience is relevant. Add to the above list Obama's work as a civil rights attorney and lecturer in constitutional law, and the card of relevant experience falls right into his hand.

Obama's life path has drawn together many interconnected pieces that have formed a man leading a swelling movement for substantial, meaningful change. And all of us have gifts and talents and experiences which we will bring together to rebuild this nation and lead the world into a better future. That future is now.

Let's get to work!

The Shepherd Express, based from Milwaukee, has also fully endorsed Obama. The Cover of the paper saying in large print "Our Next president: Barack Obama"

It's not as prominent as the Sentinal, but it widely read all around South Eastern and South Central Wisconsin. It definitely has some influence.

I'm saving this edition of the paper.
Seeing the cover, made me smile from ear to ear.
