Cathleen, 59, of Tucson, AZ is welcoming some 20 supporters into her home tonight for a Convention Watch Party. Except for a few friends, the rest of the attendees signed up on My.BarackObama.com. Cathleen’s excited about the new people; she hopes to meet other Obama supporters in her community and begin organizing for change. There is one guest that Cathleen is especially happy to welcome.
My 94-year-old father, John, will be here this evening. Although his health is declining, he wants to hang on until Election Day to see Barack Obama make history. He remembers a different time, and he’s glad to be able to see how far we’ve come. He’s been a lifelong fighter for the underprivileged.
After taking note that tonight marks the 45th anniversary of Martin Luther King, Jr.’s “I Have a Dream” speech, Cathleen said, “I have the Kleenex box ready, because it should be very emotional.”In addition to sharing some food and welcoming new friends, Cathleen is looking forward to getting others involved this weekend and for the rest of the campaign.
We wanted to do this to find some more volunteers for phonebanking, canvassing, and do whatever it takes to elect Barack Obama.
