I have been going through a transformation over the past couple of months, a journey in which a thirst erupted within me for knowledge. Whether it was reading about the end of colonialism and dismantling of racial apartheid within the United States and in South Africa or realizing that the interlocking systems of oppression be it race, class, and gender must be addressed in order for the possibility of a democratic society in which the color of your skin, or your social class would not be a badge of inferiority. With this monumental election on the horizon, I wonder will America heed to the call. Many people are held by fear, a fear that lives in darkness and ignorance. I know that the sticking to Status Quo is tempting because its seems "safe" and its what we been used to since the creation of our blessed Nation. Who will heed the call to change a democracy that is not only disaffected but disillusioned with a corporate-dominated political economy where ethics has waned under the greed of a few? Who is willing to hope which fuels the passion for what is possible. Who is willing to strive in perilous times for a peace that suppresses all understanding?
I am willing....are you?
