Powerful Network Coverage from the Moment We Made History ...
These are must-view moments, in which I actually cried watching these. I promise I will make these the last videos I send to you about this campaign, but these are absolutely breathtaking to watch. As someone who has believed in the Obama campaign from the beginning, perhaps more so to me, but no one can deny the importance of this election to this country and to the world. So I had to find some of the footage I missed because I could not watch every station at the moment it happened. I wanted to share some of the most powerful footage from the three major news networks (FOX, CNN, and MSNBC). Please view here:
1. Juan Wliiams, a black political analyst who spoke throughout the campaign AGAINST Obama and for both HIllary Clinton and John McCain, speaks so eloquently about the historical signficance and importance of the Obama victory. His words combined with the footage of the crowds in Chicago are simply stunning:

2. CNN footage of Jessee Jackson crying and the look on his face after learning Obama had won:

3. Moments before Obama is projected the winner, political analysts predict it's about to happen and discuss the importance of the moment, followed by the moment of reality. You can actually hear a choke in the voice of Keithr Olberman speaking as he makes it official, knowing the significance of his words as he is saying. As he speaks, the screen flashes to Obama rallies throughout the country and the reactions of people nationwide:

So very true. I still cry when I review these. If I am ever so lucky to be offered any kind of job within this administration, I would relocate in a heartbeat.
I have poured my heart into this campaign from its infancy. I always believed in Obama's ability to win. Despite this, I kept a protective shell around me until the very end. I refused to accept he had won (especially after New Hampshire primary) until there was no remaining doubts. And the moment it became official, the shell broke and my reaction was like that seen on so many faces in these videos: Relief, shock, acceptance, joy, hope, passion, commitment, resolve, determinaition, triumph ... arguably most of all: Vindication for the statement to all those who felt it was not possible and for the years in which black people could not even vote (and I'm white) and also for the past eight years in which I was told I was unpatriotic and undemocratic for daring to challenge the policies and positiosn of the party in power.
Obama's victory is the perfect statement to younger Americans about America at its finest and Democracy at its finest. In one moment, the hopes and faiths of countless Americans were re-awakened and new hopes took birth for countless others who had never taken part in a political process before.
I'm now almost at a loss as to what comes next. I poured so much energy into the campaign that I feel I now have all these excess energy with no place to put it. But I know much work lays ahead, and I will do my part when the time comes. I am so proud of my country and its people.
