Ok, So I've been kicking this one around my mind for the past 2 weeks..AS GAS PRICES HAVE DROPPED !

How About a DOLLAR a GALLON FEDERAL TAX ( over and above existing ones) FOR IMPORTED OIL?It would still be tight, but we could swing 2.75 a GALLON gasoline.....HERE IS WHY ....

Pros:

#1 This levy would generate BILLIONS for the Fed Gov't ( I will look at any SCHEME that lessens the MORTAGE "Bush/We" have saddled our GRANDCHILDREN with ! )

#2 We would return to our "non-essential" driving habits of LAST MONTH ! ( helping the environment and our brutalized Infra-structure..short term )

#3 The AutoMakers would still have a reason to produce FUEL-EFFICIENT VEHICLES

#4 Solar and Wind and "ALTERNATIVE" Power is NOT Viable NOW for under 3.00 a gallon, and It LOOKS REALLY ATTRACTIVE with GAS at 4.00 a Gallon...but with gas at 1.50..ONLY T.BOONE and The OIL COMPANIES can AFFORD to Develop it ! Thereby leaving them with a CORNER on the Market of ENERGY......AGAIN !

#5 This will allow DOMESTIC OIL PRODUCERS to get a GOOD DEAL..(yes, even our Red Opposition ALASKA and OKLAHOMA....leave them out, they will never go blue!)

#6 "TEXAS OIL MEN" will start being OILMEN again..and ..didn't we just decide we had HAD ENOUGH of TEXAS OIL MEN Running the SHOW ???

OK SO CONS:

#1 You cannot fill the MiniVan for less than 30.00 ( but it isn't 60.00 )

#2 You need to limit your speed to "Weather Conditions" rather than "HOW DARE YOU PASS ME !)

# 3 I'm SURE THAT MY FELLOW BLOGGERS WILL "MENTION" TO ME WHERE I HAVE GONE WRONG!

IF YOU LIKE/HATE This IDEA ( it is NOT New) ....LET'S WORK TO FASHION it into a Real Weapon to cause REAL CHANGE ! .......REGULATORS ARE THE KEY..OVERSITE !
