In every state -- in towns and precincts and neighborhoods across the country there are literally thousands of women on the ground, working the phones, working the visibility events and going door to door to tell people about Barack Obama. You hear it over and over again: in Barack Obama, we have a candidate who is going to make history.
And these women are very clear: this isn't about race or gender.
The reason this campaign has motivated thousands of women to work for change is because of a simple, rare quality: in Barack Obama, we have finally found a candidate we can believe in. That's something for the history books. And that's why all these women are doing the hard work it takes to ensure that he will be the next President of the United States.
Please meet Amy (photo - right) one of our most active volunteers in Ohio who has been with the campaign since the very beginning, and just one of the thousands of women across the county volunteering her heart out for Barack Obama:
Like many others, Senator Obama first caught my attention with his '04 keynote speech.I ordered his first book "Dreams From My Father," and was truly inspired. I was most impressed with his thoughtfulness and insight, and his ability to admit and learn from mistakes, even as a child. ...I was so happy when he announced he was running. I ordered buttons from another website because My.BarackObama.com wasn't up yet. When this website did get up and running it was great to be able to meet and work with other supporters. We have an amazing core group...wonderful people whom I would not have otherwise known. I support Senator Obama primarily because of his intelligence, analyzing skills, communication skills, and strong desire to make life better for others. I have had the opportunity to meet him, shake his hand, and look him in the eye. I truly believe that with him, what you see is what you get. I love his sense of humor. And I think he has the perfect experience to be president, and he has served more years in elected office than Senator Clinton. I don't want someone who is an expert at the ways of Washington. I want a president who will change the ways of Washington. Senator Obama inspires me to be a better person, and to contribute to my community. I have never been involved in a campaign before. I am here only because of who he is - a truly great American.
