Yeah! By the way, I just read an article this morning about how Barack is the only candidate with an office open in Idaho.

The concern that I keep hearing from some Democrats is that Barack can't win in November because some areas of the country will never vote for an African-American. It is so important that we demonstrate how broad his appeal is. Bravo to the campaign for focusing on western states other than just Nevada!

Ken, Barack is the only Democratic candidate with an Idaho office.

And VERY soon he'll be the only one with a Utah office.

I think this speaks to his Populist view that everyone is important that he's so actively courting those of us in these traditionally VERY red states. I also think it speaks to the groundswell of support that's coming from "different" sources for this outstanding candidate.

Since the last debate I don't even watch or go to CNN.com anymore. It's a pretty big statement for me, since I've lived on CNN for the past decade. These last few weeks have been heavenly!!!

I'll have toi agree with Harpring here...Obama needs to outright win one of those debates , and so far , he's been okay , but not great.

I know i will be killed again for not saying Obama has been great in all the debates , but i just dont think that he's been doing as great.

He needs to grasp the sound bytes and try to limits his answers to a few sentences...Maybe 3 or 4 and be forceful , show some emotion and charisma...The problem with Obama is , he answers all questions in the same manner + in long paragraph.

People never remember what the guy who went on and on , said...They tend to remember the guy that was short , sweet and forceful...This is what Obama needs right now.

About debates.

Well when you are discussing things with people...

Who speaks in 30 second sound bites? The problems we face deserve better than 30 second sound bites.

He tries to answer the question. You probably go UM- UH when you are trying to find the right words so why would he be different?

Barack just has to hold his own in the debates. He is holding his own. All candidates are saying they won the debates. Barack just has to appear more presidential. He will not win the nomination because he does well in the debates. He will win because he will have out campaigned other candidates on the ground. His grassroots connection and ability to draw large crowds to see him speak is by far more important than demolishing other candidates at a television debate. Barack holds his own every time and his comments about the differences between his candidacy and others have a soft power about them that sticks and leaves a bigger impact than just swinging angrily and wildly like Edwards.

He is the expert in his own style and it has won him many races in the past. As supporters, I would trust his judgement and committment to not run a nasty campaign. I applaud his performance in the debates. If you want more from him, travel to Iowa and hear him speak to a couple hundred people at a rural county fair ground.

When those MSM people said so and so won the debate, I don't know what they are talking about. What exactly is he/she winning? How do you define and measure winning? You can state your opinion who's doing well in a debate, winning? Win what? I don't know what they mean by "winning". What is sort of measureable is the poll numbers one to two weeks after the debate. For what I know, Obama's numbers have been rising steadily. Don't know what "winning" they are talking about.

I'm not saying barack should angrily attack in those debates...All i'm saying is that he makes some changes on how he approaches those debates.

I would like him to be more to the point instead of speaking in long paragraphs.

I know sound bytes arent too popular around here , but when you have 7 candidates on the forum and about a minute to answer , you want to make sure you get your point across and there's no way you can do that by speaking in paragraph.

When i was about 12 years old , my teacher would ask me to read one chapter in a book , then asked me to be ready to give her "short review" of what happened on that chapter...I knew i had to not forget the important event in that chapter but at the same time , i couldnt be too long because remember , it's a review. i can only do it in about 3-4 sentences....This is where Obama fails...He can't shorten his answers but make but forceful and right to the point.

Again , people never remember the long answers...They tend to remember the guy who was short , sweet and forceful at the same time.

Those are just suggestion and i'm a big Obama supporters.

Al Gore won all the debates. John Kerry won all the debates. So what? George W. Bush won the White House. Voters are not dumb. You don't connect with voters through sound bites. If you're a slippery Clinton, you are a slippery Clinton no matter how much sound bites you've managed. People are not dumb and they don't just listen to the spin doctors and pundits only, especially Iowans. How else would you explain the discrepancy between the National Polls and the Iowa Polls?

Barack should be himself, period. He does not need to give soundbites to get his message across.

And Halperin is contradicting himself, because he gave Obama a grade of "A" for his debate performance when George Stephanopoulis moderated, and we all have seen that Barack has consistently been rated the winner by the VOTERS in all the focus groups. Only the Washington pundits claim that Obama has been poor or average or whatever.

Barack's style in debates is a reflection of the fact that he sees the complexity of the issues and is trying to use the debates as an opportunity to educate the public and not just state a position. But it is not entirely an either/or proposition. You can have it both ways by giving the soundbite followed by the explanation. For example, "Which is more important, human rights or national security." Instead of answering, "Well, they are not mutually exclusive. . . ." you answer, "National security. But because we are a democracy, we cannot have national security without respect for human rights. . . . etc." The voters who worry that Democrats won't defend our country are reassured that Barack will do that, but he has the opportunity to explain that the question rested on a false premise and that national security requires respect for human rights. The Bush administration, by pursuing one and not the other, in the long run undermines both.

Really intelligent people often see complexities in questions that others don't. Unfortunately, many viewers are not as bright as Barack. They think the question is a simple one and deserves a simple answer. Anything more complex gets portrayed (by the news media especially!!) as waffling. Other viewers, of course, love about Barack the fact that he does not just give soundbites but really grapples with the problem. So, give the short answer, followed by the long answer.

Me three, but they indicate they get many offerings and will not use all. The selection they have so far are pretty non-issue related. they are either pro-Hillary or generally abusive of the writer and Time. However, many of the best articles supporting barack HAVE appeared in TIME.

It looks like if the CBS News writers srike, the 12/10 debate is in question as the top 3 candidates will not cross the picket line. In addition, there's a mention that Mrs. Obama will cancel an upcoming guest hosting of the View so as to not cross the picket line at ABC. While I respect the decision not to cross the picket line, I am disappointed as I think she would have been fantastic.

I whole heartedly agree, but I am disappointed. Since the View writers are part of the Writer's Guild, does that also mean that Oprah's writers are as well? I was also hoping for an Obama appearance on Oprah prior to the Iowa Caucus. (I'm not trying to start rumors or speculation, just thought that might be a December surprise).

Any word on the Game Plan for Michigan, I heard they changed their primary to the 19th of January, which has caused NH to move their date up to the 8th of Jan.
Is there a plan to put Obama down as a write in since he is not on the ballot, I know there is several Michigan voters willing to do this!!??

Please help organize Michigan. I'm worried about any excuse for CNN to run a headline regarding Clinton. I just talked to two of my friends that lived in Michigan and after we talked they are going to do write in. According to them, most people gave up for all the other candidates and aren't going to vote. I think that's a big mistake. Anyway, two more are going to write Barack in.....

I heard on NPR Thursday that some Michigan state official is proposing to the state court or someone (did not really get all the details) that all candidates' names appear on the ballot whether they want their names there or not. Maybe someone living in Michigan can clarify this.

They want to discourage. They are costing us tax payers lots of dollars to play games like this. Iowa caucus first, the NH primary. They are annointing Hilary and that's that. I wish SC, heck they'd all bump or why isnt DNC doing more about this. Mich is risking loosing ALL it's delegates and 1/2 repub del. for violations of party rules. They turned voters away also by making it sound like Obama and other candidates wanted to alienate them, and of course not Clinton because she left her name on. I don't think SC will be swayed by Mich. Mich and Florida decided to make this about distraction at some point or they wouldn't be risking so much imo.

If we can begin a "write in" movement on the Michigan ballot, and if Barack Obama receives a nice percentage of the votes, we can make headlines and undermine a Clinton win there.

Just imagine if Barack Obama receives a large percentage of votes when he is not even on the ballot. It will speak volumes.

Hi Sharon-Thanks for the concern and everyone who wants to help us here. I'm pretty sure MarkkraM started a group. He requested to check locally, and I did do that. Also, since there are some fine guidelines of the Obama campaign not being offiically inovlved, I wasn't sure what info. I can disclose on the open blog. Like ballots vs. computers in precincts for request write in. They are acceptable here. So from the Mich Law they would be tallied like an absentee type thing. Too, I checked my local directly and there are lots of names in the directory, I just don't know who to go about sending out a mass emaill type thing? I know many here have decided to do write ins, but if they're discouraged or unsure about doing a write in, it would be reassure. Again, I know there are guidelines as far as our efforts, that we can't actually make it something being portrayed or promoted from the actual Obama campaign. It has to be done through us as individual supporters. Any feedback would be great and I'm trying to keep info up when I can. I think it's also important to keep posting to also remind voters that Iowa and NH are still key to worry about, and not get too distracted by what Mich is pulling, and just try to work around the best we can. thank you - shawn marie

Under the Morning News blog I posted that I thought bloggers toughguy and blaze were trolls. Toughguy repsonded back by calling me really mean names and making mean remarks to me. I did not respond back to him of course.

I have been visiting here every day for months and changed from an Independent to a Democrat to vote for Barack Obama in January.

Well, they deleted every one of my posts over at the Morning News blog.

I feel very offended and now my hope has been drained from me. Someone should have at least told me why the posts were deleted. I do not write mean or offensive posts.

I am not voting for Barack Obama now and I will no longer encourage others to do so.

Andrea, I'm new to posting but not reading. I have seen a lot of garbage on this blog and stuff that should not be here, but I stay here for the Senator. Please don't leave. I enjoy your blogs and will be very upset if you leave. Take some time off the website and get your strength back. Remember who we are donating for, canvassing for and quite frankly sacrificing for--Senator Barack Obama. Look at all that he is doing everyday, month after month. Look at the sacrifice that his family is having to endure. This is not easy for them or for him. Please don't go. Many of us will miss you. It is a critical time, and I'm excited. Obama is leading in Iowa and is rising in national polls. Hillary is panicking and slipping. Oprah is campaigning in Iowa and NH. The media is mostly positive (except for CNN). I just found out that the eligible voters in my family are voting for him or leaning his way. We are doing great and our efforts are paying off!

With all this success, troll are going to come and go to try to discourage us. It is a known fact that the HRC campaign has paid bloggers doing their nasty work. Then there are those simple HRC supporters that follow in her lead and are just plain nasty.

We are all human here, and we are not perfect. I am guilty of falling for their traps. I have my days where I let them get to me, and I react, only to regret it later. No matter how much they get on my nerves, they will never, ever discourage me from voting for Obama. He is not responsible for our actions. We are responsible for our own actions. We are a family here, and we refuse to let these people get in the way. Our future is at stake. And we are winning!

I think it's just simply due to a technicality. It was reported (probably by toughguy), so the administrator was obligated to act accordingly. And the word "troll" is technically a personal attack, I guess, so they were forced to delete it. That's how I would see it. You're not the only one this has happened to, Andrea. I've had my posts deleted in the past for the same reason. Try not to take it personally. You and the rest of us are working really hard for this wonderful campaign, and we shouldn't give up just because of what a couple of people do here on the blog. We will not let them succeed. This movement is too important.

It's good to be here although not as often. This time of yr is especially busy for me and my family. We are getting ready for my nephew(coming home on leave from Iraq for a little r&r)and his family for the holidays coming up. I am so excited because we have not seen him in more than a yr,so this is expecially emotional for all the family. He is a big Obama supporter and he is the one who told me after the DNC convention in 2004 to really start to read up on Obama because he was gonna be the POTUS one day. Well it surely seems that everything is pointing in that direction. my house will be crowded,but I can't ythink of any other place i would rather be this holiday season than with my nephew and all of the family that will be visiting. This thrusday Barack is to make an appearance at the APOLLO THEATER in NYC,I am sure it will be packed.

The support for Obama is DEFINITLY GROWING IN NYC. I found three new supporters who were leaning towards HRC,but after the JJ dinner last week they are now supporting Barack Obama. You see the thing is when people actually now are taking the time to LISTEN to what is being said in this campaign and they can see the positive effect this campaign is having on alot of people,especially the REPUBLICANS. It will surley be a tight race,but now EVERYONE knows Obama is where most see our future.

I must chime in here. If you change your vote because of a blogger, what does that say about the strength of your support? I was disappointed by several issues with Obama's policies, but I still come back to the blog and donate because I think he's still the best choice we have despite a few disagreements. He said he's not perfect and I agree. He can't possibly satisfy every one of his supporter in terms of policy and the action of a few of his staffs. People make mistakes all the time. There's no reason to abandon ship when we're in the most critical stage of the race. We've got to finish strong and we need everyone.

They started to go after Obama's name, religion, and other personal things that cannot be quoted here. It's war time. I won't be surprised if Hillary runs negative ads in NH attacking Obama personally after a third place finish in Iowa. Be prepared!

I usually find that if I read a comment that brings up something negative that I would rather not discuss or if it makes me angry in any way, I just skip over it or try to post something positive to take my mind off of it. Or I just respond to the person, something like "have a nice day" or "are you excited about Barack's new speech?" Best thing to do probably is ignore or donate in honor of disruption.

Hi, David! And welcome to Barack's community of committed supporters. The main thing is just to express yourself with civility toward others and share your ideas for strengthening our campaign. Do your best to avoid responding to negative posters who are often people paid by other campaigns to disrupt our discussion and cultivate doubt. They often appear to start off the conversation with a sense of concern and then launch into a lot of negative assertions about our candidate. Just ignore them and they go away.

For other newbies, please create a profile and start looking for events in your neighborhood. Write letters to the editor, canvass, volunteer for the phone bank, donate whatever you can and help fundraise. Buy gear for our Iowa volunteers on the ground. Be armed with the truth. Read Barack's position papers on this website and pay attention to misinformation campaigns conducted by other candidates. Talk to your family and friends about why they should vote for Barack. Wear Obama '08 gear and smile. Do something every day to propel this campaign forward. We have a lot of work to do!

I am sorry you are disheartened.

I have found calling someone a troll does tend to get a comment deleted. And they do try to keep on them when they seem to get personally negative.

Even me, a frequent blogger and commenter, has had comments deleted. I did not get a note regarding, it just happened. I noticed it was due to trying to call someone a troll and also for any post trying to dissuade people from responding to suspected trolls.

Our candidate likes to surround himself with varying opinions. He is not a YES man and enjoys the dialog. You will see that this BLOG and community is the MOST open and active one among the democratic candidates.

I've heard other supporters get upset when their posts are deleted. Andrea T is not the only one. I can only agree with the person who pointed out that many people work for the campaign (some paid, some not). Some days any post reported as offensive gets deleted and other days really offensive posts stay on the blog for a long time and have to be reported several times before they disappear. Responding to the blog by staff or volunteers isn't always consistent.

If you give up on Senator Obama, the folks that you spoke of in your posts win. If it is their intent to disrupt the spirit and support on this blog, they will achieve this if you say that you won't vote for Senator Obama. My guess is, that if someone clicks the little box and reports a post to the administrator, it will be removed without much additional scrutiny.

When offended by a post, I donate. Believe it or not, it makes me feel so much better. If you can't donate, do something else that helps promote the candidate. Let it feed your energy, not diminish it.

Please do not leave! Of course it is your own choice and no one else's, but I know that at some point in the past, you were drawn to Barack. I assure you that he has not changed his character one bit in the course of our work.
You got angry because of people that post here with the sole intent of discouraging us. Don't let them get to you. I've seen trolls ever since last winter and it's only made me more determined to support Barack.
The best thing you can do is ignore every single troll - I've never talked to them. There's enough negativity in politics and our world already. I'm not going to contribute to it.

Andrea, if you do believe what you posted, and I know that you do, then giving up would mean that you are willing to say they have won! Taking one voter away from Senator Obama is a victory.

Please don't let them win by giving up. Thank you so much for sticking up for what you believe; I honor and respect the passion that all of us feel! I know that, for me, the passion is based on a sincere evaluation of all of the evidence, which is reinforced every single day by another small but meaningful event, and usually more.

I know that those whose passion lies in destruction have more grief in their hearts than anything else, and I do my version of a prayer for them, that they will be released from resentments and fear. If I don't feel better, I do it all over again, until I do. I hope that helps!

After reading the wonderful posts and realizing that Barack Obama is the best candidate out of both parties running for president, I decided that I have no choice but to continue supporting Barack.

I admit, I cried when I saw my posts were deleted because I was only writing about the suspected trolls to warn people not to fall into their traps. I was trying to look out for the campaign.

I had orginally decided to support Barack Obama because he seems honest, intelligent and he wants to try working WITH republicans and other democrats to get much needed legislation passed in Washington, D.C. He wants to take care of issues that should have long been handled by congress and our past two presidents. I like many of Barack's ideas and I was also oppossed to the invasion of Iraq from the beginning. Plus Barack Obama is so dignified and articulate. He also has class. I like that.

I am planning on signing up to make telephone calls for the campaign.

I won't let deleted posts and demeaning comments to me keep me from doing what I know will help my family and many others -- and that is helping elect Barack Obama as the next president of the USA!

Guess what's going on right now Down Under in Australia. National Elections. We cast our votes this morning (its' Saturday 4 pm as I type). Our system is different from yours. Parliamentary - like Britain. Another thing that is different is that voting is compulsory.

I expect the party in power will lose, and that Labor will win. We should know tomorrow.

Thanks for your encouragement -- it really worked.

We need Mr. Obama as president. And yes, it is not good to let one campaign worker or one troll take my hope away.

I went to the Action Center and signed up make telepohne calls on behalf of the Barack Obama campaign, and even my teenage daughter wants to make calls for the campaign.

We live in Florida -- I am still voting for Barack and I will make telephone calls for his campaign.

Andrea T-I'm very sorry to hear your post got removed. I also toughguys did as well. After going through 2 whole blogs yesterday it was mostly all about your being upset about this. First, I want to say, that I too have had atleast two of my posts removed in the past. It's been a while but it has happened. And I have logged on and seen many many loyal active bloggers whose posts have been deleted as well. I often have asked or wondered myself why some our most active and loyal bloggers have been reported. It does happen and some people will say why they have reported someone and even tell them, and sometimes we just don't know. Believe me I can understand how you felt, but I too was confused by your words about Obama and loosing support because of your posts being removed. As you know, it is sent to HQ, not the person who actually posts the community blog(aka, Sarah, or Sam ect...)And it definetly is not monitored by Obama. Sometimes glitches happen too and people often ask about on the blog. These things just happen sometimes. I'm glad to see you've changed your mind and are going to remain a supporter. I just hope in the future if you have a run in with toughguy or anyone, please try to resolve it swiftly, or just move on. I seen exchanges, but missed actual posts. I gather he(toughguy) felt being called a troll is as bad as what he may have called you. I'm not here to moderate or judge, but taking up almost 2 full blogs over such a matter too is a distraction and interruption of the purpose of us being here. I really do feel bad and I am glad you feel better now. Hopefully you and toughguy may even have a truce.:) thank you shawn

I had seen the interview with Senator Obama in print, but had not seen the video.
As always, Barack is a man of the people, who is truly tuned into their concerns and needs!!

I only wished I lived in Iowa, NH, Nevada or SC to be one of the people who gets to be the first to vote OUR "Man of the People" into office!!!

Thanks for the vid! Barack at his most gracious, full of humble appreciation, sincere decency and good humor. I especially loved hearing that he is having some Secret Service for dinner! I've watched his SS people up close and they are one tough and dedicated crew. And on occasion, they break out with big smiles!

I want Sen. Obama to win the presidency, and so I think it's actually to our benefit if Gore wins the Time person of the year and then endorses Obama. Then Gore's status will be sky high among democrats and since he isn't a candidate, no democrat will question Gore winning that. It would be powerful for Gore to win, Clinton, Edwards, etc. to all congratulate him (which they will for sure), and then for Gore to turn around and endorse Obama.

I doubt many people will vote for Obama just because if he wins the "person of the year", and we'll be sure to get useless comments from the Clinton camp about it (because we know that Clinton *will* question it if Obama gets "person of the year"), so it'll probably have no effect on the race and will distract the Obama team from more important tasks.

Isaac, have you made your suggestion to the campaign? If you have, I am betting they are working on them! If not, go to the Get Involved, Contact Us and make your suggestion! Fabulous idea, and I'll use them if they come from HQ! They do have lots of his policies on paper at the offices, so if you want them get to the office near you, or ask them to send them to you.

I don't believe Andrea is upset by a troll. We all know that dealing with them is part of the battle.

From what I've gathered, Andrea is upset because HER COMMENTS WERE DELETED. That would annoy me as well.

However, what I say to that is no campaign is perfect. Sen. Obama does not have a direct hand in many of the things happening in this campaign. He's too busy writing excellent policy papers, speaking to voters and giving wonderful speeches.

Sen. Obama has thousands of folks working for this campaign, some paid, some not paid.

I've had a few experiences that ticked me off too, but I brushed it aside because I'm looking at the larger picture.

Don't get bogged down with something a staffer does that may rub you the wrong way.

I'm sure the campaign staff has trouble figuring out the good guys from the bad guys in our community too.

Most of the time it's easy to tell who's here to stir up trouble, but sometimes it's not and the campaign has to be on the lookout for those who wish to cause Sen. Obama problems. I'm not saying this is why your comments were deleted. But I am saying this is why we should all be a little more tolerant of any possible snafu.

I got pissed off, said I wouldn't work for the campaign and wouldn't donate. Then I thought about the fact that Sen. Obama is a million miles removed from any negative incident I might have experienced here. I made another $100 donation bringing my total to $1500.00.

For the most part, the staff has done a good job.

Sounds to me like there was some trolling or negative discussion. AndreaT did the right thing by pointing it out, so it could be deleted.

The blog owner must have decided to delete the entire conversation. No need to confuse readers by keeping complaints referring to comments that didn't exist anymore. Right? This whole thing was a misunderstanding.

So, please don't withdraw your support, Andrea. Every vote counts; every voice counts, and we need yours.

I'm not sure if this has been posted today, but it a good article. Discusses how debates can influence a voter (or not influence a voter). Personally, I really don't like the debates. I know that they serve a valid function, but it just seems like a weird sort of contest that should be different somehow to give you a better idea of WHO the candidate really is. The moderators need to talk less, and let the candidates 'go at it'. The audience should be silent and save their responses until the end. The debates should be chopped down to 1-2 issues.

I think the audiences need to be instructed that this is not a sporting event; they should remember that, no matter what, this is for the Presidency of the United States and deserves some 'pomp and circumstance.' The moderator needs to do this as often as necessary. That should be their only job. If it's going to be a debate, it should really be a debate; if it's going to be a public question and answer period, it should be renamed. I took debate class in HS. No one ever booed me or laughed at me (lol well at least not in class!) and no one ever asked me questions.

It sure is. They only pronounce her the winner because she's treated as the incumbent. NOT because she's really won. Granted she is an experienced debator, but Obama gives specific answers and he tries very hard to give straight honest answers every time. Unless she does something bad(not often), they won't declare her the loser. That is really bad about the media these days.

First, we need to get the DNC to make it clear to the media that Michigan and Florida *do not count* and that they shouldn't report on who wins there.

Second, we should get folks in Michigan to vote for Kucinich as a protest vote against Clinton. (If Kucinich beats Clinton, that would be huge.)

Yes, I thought I heard the tail end of this on Air America a few days ago, and apparently it's nearly law...no one on here seemed to know anything about it tho. It seems that it will some way give all the votes to the Republicans? I am still going to try to find out what the deal was....if anyone else listens to Air America, it was in Rachel Maddow's show, and was last week (I think on Thursday?). I never can search the archives efficiently, but it's on their website.

They are trying to change California from being a 'winner take all' to a 'proportional' for delegates for the general election.

Right now, its winner take all, and basically all the delegates goes to the democrats. If they change the system, the democrats will only get about 60% of the delegates, and the rest going to the Republicans will ensure that we elect a republican president.

As far as I know they don't have the signatures yet to have it on the ballot in June. If it gets on the ballot, it will probably win because it sounds so fair (and most people have no idea what the consequences are).

So its pretty serious.

Kucinich also took his name off the ballot. Only Clinton and Dodd had the lack of integrity to agree to the rules and then try to have it both ways.

I don't know what's going to finally happen here in FL or in MI but Obama supporters will vote for Obama even if it is a write in. No one in these 2 states should allows party shenanigans to silence their voice.

Hello Everyone,

I hope you all had a wonderful and blessed Thanksgiving. It was nice to sit around the table and spend quality time with my family.

We talked about a variety of topics and of course politics did come up. They know I am a huge Barack Obama supporter and it did my heart good to hear that everyone at that dinner table who is eligible to vote, will be voting for Barack.

At first my brother said he would love to vote for Barack but he is scared something will happen to him. I told him if Barack is not afraid than you shouldn't be. I told him to vote with his heart and mind. He said if I do that than it will be Barack Obama.

It was a great Thanksgiving.

Great news, Tanner! People are starting to see that Obama is the one we can trust. Democrats, Republicans and Independents are realizing it, and coming on board.

We can expect the others to try to find something to take that away from Obama. They'll spin anything they can find to make a dent in his high "trust" ratings. My guess is that CNN will break the story.

Fortunately our campaign will be ready, so we shouldn't worry. We should expect it and be confident that our campaign will deal with it in the best possible way. They're awesome!

Good job tanner. I too sometimes can't help but worry about Obama for many reasons people sometimes mention, but I do pray that it will not stop them from giving him their support and vote. If I let my fear of that effect me, it would be unfair to Obama and the country. We need him and he will be safe. They have many people looking after him.

I just watched the full JJ Speech again, and again. I am just as amazed as the first time I heard it.

Decided to email it to my nephew in China who is in graduate school for History. (what a contrast from politics in China. Bushie is not very popular in China, even though he has helped China by doing nothing.)

Also sent to my friend from India, who should be able to vote in US in a couple of years.

We should get everyone to watch that speech.
Not only was he Presidential, it was as good as any past leader has ever given (RFK, JFK, ML King).

Can you give me a direct link to the full speech on video? I'd like to send it to some people, too. Just got back from leading a 3-week tour of India, killed me not to be reading the blogs every day (no reliable Internet access in many of the places we went), missed the last debate, Obama's SNL appearance, and the JJ speech.

However, I did manage to bring Barack to the attention of the 20 people in my group who were unfamiliar with him. I was so focused on finding an Internet that they were asking what's going on with Obama and Hillary when I did get on. And one of the leading Indian newspapers (the Hindustan Times, I believe) showed Obama at the top of Page 1 with a teaser about him taking on Hillary (note pic of Obama, not her). Just a small blurb on Page 16 after the teaser, but still, our candidate was the one pictured.

Also sat next to an Indian businessman on the plane home, a U.S. citizen since 1990. Turned him on to Obama as well, suggested he consider our candidate rather than Hillary. He was very interested in what I had to say.

And -- my 86-year-old Republican mom has stopped watching Fox and now considers CNN too biased toward HRC.

Michele, I was at the speech, and at the pre-rally, and marched down the street. I swear to you, it was a fever in the room!!! Even having to be at it for 6 hours before we got to the pinnacle, the Utopia...it was breathtaking! The spirit was in that hall that night!!! I've watched it again, and again. It still gives me chills!

Could we please stay focussed on this final stretch of the primary cycle. This election is way too important to get lost with personality differences. This blog site(as someone mentioned before) is not controlled by HQ. This election is about this country as a whole.
My support is fixed/unwavering/not wishy-washy. It is not so fickle, as to change whenever someone on this(or any other site) says or does something to offensive. You either like things in this country as is, or you want real, substantive change.
Let us build up each other, and save the bickering for some other site that frankly gives me heartburn.

I don't look at it as redeeming themselves.
They actually do this so they think they have credibility when bashing Obama for the thousands time.

Their trick is so OBVIOUS!! They post something insignificant but not negative or somewhat positive about Obama, but usually jumbbled up with other news so it's burried. Then, they feel justified to post 5 times as many of the negative posts and they're always by themselves and they keep them lingered for a long time.

Then, they did totally the opposite for Clinton. All her negative posts were jumbbled or usually on the weekend and they didn't stay long. But, her positive posts usually by themselves & lingered for a while.

CNN is so transparent, it's NOT EVEN FUNNY!!

This race is too important, to our country and the world, to be either (1) caught up in the personal spats you talk about or (2) just digging for dirt on the other side.
We must focus like a laser on Iowa and New Hampshire, for that sets up everything else. Barack got this far, and has drawn the kind of support he enjoys, because his movement consists of Americans of all political stripes that are tired of the divisions and partisan battles.

Bill Press (who admits his wife is a supporter of Barack) said on "Tucker" on Wednesday regarding the late timing of when Obama started to take on Hillary:

Either we'll say (if he loses)that Obama waited too long to go after Hillary (as everyone seemed to want him to do) or we'll say (if he wins) that this was one of the most brilliant strategies in American political history.

He suggested that Barack was in control all along and he could have "turned it on" at any time, but chose to wait to the right moment.

I kind of agree, because Barack knows he wanted the "target" on Hillary's back, not his. Barack has grown enourmously over the past 10 months, and now he strong enough to take the pressure while being at the top of the race.

I heard on the news that more privately the Bush family is supporting Romney(so not sure true, but seen it on news). I guess they are family friends that go way back kinda thing. But the fact that Bush would not pubically announce this and said he'll support whoever the nominee is, he went out on a limb to give Hilary the thumbs up and praises. So now that you mention Romney is saying this, it does seem to tie and make sense. They definetly want Hilary. IMO I think they know she too has some problems with her own base/party, which just happens to be true. She does. Hilary herself play into the inevibility.

I have been looking for this one...the Students for Obama link. Have long thought this was the most inspiring Obama video out there. It used to be featured on Barack's YOUtube site, then seemed to no longer work.

My son, not the Marine, NEEDS to see this. He and his wife thought they'd please me this Thanksgiving by announcing they were going to vote Democrat. As newbies to politics and caucusing [KS] they were under the impression this ought to mean caucusing for Clinton. I enjoyed telling them, oh, no, we are doing much better than that now. [We ALL have a LOT of educating to do!]

One of the best videos I've seen. It should be on his front page web site, or Barack TV. Somewhere for all the world to see. This man is great, and if the American people don't wake up, I feel sorry for this country. They'll pick a politian that is currupt and underhanded just to win an election, before they'll pick someone that's a born leader, and who's honest and trustworthy. I just don't get it. I personally cannot take another 4 years of this crap. I'm almost 52 years old. I've donated every quarter. I don't have much, but I give what I can. I've been to the Washington Square Park rally with 25,000 people, and I follow the community blogs daily. I truly appreciate the fire all of Baracks supporters have. I thought I was the only die hard fan but after reading these comments, and watching the videos, I'm convinced Barack will win this election. I'm among so many wonderful people,and God bless you all. Don't give up! Let's all pray for Barack's family, his dedication to service, and his health. For all of you that believe in God, let's remember that God is in control of everyone's life, yes,even Barack's life. Edwards supporters are strong and they believe they will win Iowa. We have to really push hard to make sure that if Edwards beats Clinton, it is because he finished second.

Edwards might be gaining in the Polls

The Zogby Poll is consistent with other polls that have been recently released, showing Hillary Clinton losing around 10 percent of her support among Democratic voters. The question then, who is gaining at her expense. In Zogby's Poll, Obama has gained 2 percent but Edwards has gained 4 percent. One possible conclusion is whatever support Hillary is losing 40 percent of her lost has gone to Edwards as compared to Obama's 20 percent. The remaining 40 percent is divided among the rest of the Democratic Field or went to the undecided category. This 4 point gain might be the result of Edwards going after Hillary in such an aggressive manner. If that is case, the main question is, does Edwards have enough time?

I don't think Edwards is gaining. But we need every single possible caucus vote in Iowa. We need every possible vote in NH, NV, and SC. This is going to be a very tough fight. Obama is by far the best candidate. But he is a huge underdog to the Hillary Clinton/Bill Clinton candidacy. And Edwards has very strong support in Iowa. If Edwards wasn't running, who would his backers support? Is it Obama? If Edwards finishes third in Iowa - will his support in NH wane? How much will go to Obama? If NH, NV AND SC go badly for Edwards will he drop out before Feb 5? Will it be clear what his supporters should do and who they should back.

Iowa is critical. A big win for Obama is the most plausible way to win. So we have got to focus on what is important and not get sidetracked. Focus on getting votes, not arguing about how bad Clinton or anything else.

and CALIFORNIA! We are working very hard here. I'm about to go canvassing this morning 'cause the campaign said today was a good day to canvass!

I just hope it stays cool enough for me to wear my Obama fleece jacket. Its going to hit 70 by 8:30 and may get hot (over 80) today.

For the record, the California Obama campaign is about 6 months a head of the other campaigns, and the other campaigns aren't even planning on doing much in this state. I have now had two (non political) friends ask me why the Obama people are the only ones she ever sees.

I'll blog later about our canvassing experience today.

We are a caucus state too [KS]. As I understand it, people get a chance to move to a new group if it is obvious their candidate cannot get enough supporters to get a delegate. Verbal invitations and sometimes competitive exchanges follow. Some of us who know Edwards or other candidates' supporters are starting to talk about hanging tough together, to support eachother as needed against a Clinton victory. The fact that Barack's movement not only has good enthusiam but financial support to win, will be a big plus.

Also started my personal fund raising page for Holiday gifts. I have almost always asked for donations to community & early childhood causes instead of gifts so my family is used to my "different" wishes. One year I asked for rice and beans and I got soooo many bags of rice and beans. So I hope to get as many donations for Barack. Let's all stay focused and keep our HOPE bright.

You know, I've been impressed with his willingness to take on Washington all along, and one of the main reasons I started supporting him; but the Google thing was IT! The speech AND the Q/A! I'm a nurse who works in Informatics (computer applications in nursing; software, education, etc), I'm getting ready to start work on my Master's Degree in Medical Informatics, and I am in AWE of this man. His knowledge for one, but his absolute willingness to SHOW US what they are doing, show us where the money is going...WOW. And he knows what he's talking about!!!

Obama being in touch and understands the people. Being is Washington for years doesn't mean a good thing necessarily. He also doesn't accept lobbyists $$. I respepct that so much because I know it could have been easy for him to do that, especially against the Clinton Machine. But instead Obama is what he shows, he is running a grass root campaign/movement for the people. He trusts us and we can trust him. I really feel like he's proven to believe the best in Americans and not the worst. It's what also help us share his visions and values.

Now just calm down. It seems like we're starting to bicker and get defensive. It's not surprising, considering all the stress we've been going through with the campaign, the stock market, preparation for the holiday season, and all the personal stuff we encounter in daily life.

Now just take a deep breath. Fer what it's worth, yer beloved Auntie B. has had a few posts deleted, too. And it really hurt... but I did get past it. Realized that we can't please everybody all the time. Fortunately, in this blessed country we can agree to disagree, as long as we do it without being disagreeable.

Having said my peace, I gotta run. Only 68 more minutes left on my At Sea Computer Package and I must conserve time. Had to check in with my Blog Family before answering email. (Tells ya what my priorities are, no?)

BTW, Sorrento is gorgeous. Tomorrow... Corsica, followed by Portofino, then Monte Carlo, and finally disembarking in Rome.

Very true Aunt B, very true... I mean this is nothing compared to our early days blogging in Obama's site. Remember Wayne...???? I mean that guy is a blessing in disguise. For all the banters we went thru, back and forth, hundreds of deleted comments, in the end we KICKED him out. After that, nobody has even come close.

Because of him we can detect who's sincerely Obama's supporters and who's not. We're stronger for it. This site is the perfect training arena for us to agree to disagree without being disagreeable. It's all good. It's like A HUGE family, we bicker once in a while, but we'll get over it.

What I came away from that article thinking is how hypocritical and arrogant the Clinton campaign is. They promote themselves as shrewd and savvy for responding quickly to any negative news stories about their candidate, but when Obama responds to slander, he's called "naive" and "lacking experience." One of the reasons I hope Obama wins is to give victory to a more ethical and honest approach to how we do business in this country.

I had a boss that used to say "sh*# runs downhill" (and yes she was allegedly a professional). Very true sentiment, I've found, and we know this sort of thing isn't what Senator O is about; he doesn't let even the smallest of indiscretions go. I think, having been around his campaign and his staff (I know, I know), that he holds them to a similarly high standard of conduct for them, and moves quickly to redirect and refocus any time he finds out they aren't; not because it's going to harm him, but because it's wrong. That's the difference.

She stopped using Rodham and started using Rodham-Clinton when Bill ran for governor of Arkansas. That's in her book.

i think she started to use only Clinton when she ran for office. Its easier for her to get elected without a compound name.

So it's great to hear that another office is opening...

Today I ran across a tape of Hillary giving credit to a summer time job when she was younger that she said prepared her for the life she is leading and in Washingon...sliming fish (she was serious). So Recently, when Hillary felt the urge to slight Senator Obama on his foreign childhood experience that Barack brought out as having some bearing on foreign experience I really was quite delighted to hear Hillary speak on her own experience, such as sliming fish, to prepare her for office...ummmm. I don't like throwing mud...but may this should be resurrected somehow.

I just have a comment about this drivers license issue. Nobody has brought up the fact that Illinois' ex-governor is serving a prison sentence because of the "drivers license for bribes" scandal in Illinois. Six children were killed in a van by a trucker who did not have a valid drivers license but one obtained with bribes.
Does anyone remember this? No wonder Obama is for legal drivers licenses. When he said he supported safety, I can't help but think he was remembering the pain and sorrow caused by this incident.
These illegal immigrants can be driving a big rigs over our roads and if they hit a car...we all know who ends up on the worse side.
Again, he is using common sense and looking out for our safety. He is not saying what he thinks the majority may be feel about the issue, but what he feels will keep families and motorists alive and healthy!
Maybe some of you more experienced bloggers can get this side of the issue out.

Obamas point was that they do NOT come here to drive or go to drive thrus. He clearly stated his positions. This is a difficult issue and you should read up on Obamas policies and stances on this issue. I think debating it is fine, but taking one thing he said at a debate does not in any way explain a whole topic of issues relating to reforming illegal immigration. Hooch, I don't know if you are serious or just pretend not to understand what he means. I will explain what I understand from his comment anyway.

There is heated debate going on in the country with this anger towards illegal immigrants, as if they are from Mars. Well he wants you to put yourself in the shoes of an immigrant, coming from his northern border so he can earn a living because he knows the wages are much higher in that country. Now if you had a hard time living in the US and you heard the wages are 100 dollars an hour in Canada, you probably would do the same and pass your northern border to live a different life. He wants to say we as human beings are not that different after all. The fact that you live in the US should not be an excuse to treat other human beings with less dignity just because they have been in a hard situation and you have been fortunate to live in the US. Just put yourself in their shoes for a moment.

That was what I understood from his comment.

Obama stated clearly the focus on driving license is a distraction to the real and grave issue of border security, immigration and trade. Illegals are not here to drive, they are here to work, yet no effort or outrage is being shown towards those who hire them.
More than 5 million of the illegals have come in during the last 10 years under the current Bush led government, because they turn a blind eye to their coming here, their corporate companies are benefiting from their cheap labor.

Obama is supporting the issuing of DL as a public safety issue, keeping track of who is here, and making sure they know the rules. However, nothing will change as long as the larger issue of immigration and work is not resolved. In any case as president, Obama will have no power to force states to issue licenses. Bill Richardson said his state does it, others may choose not to. Hooch, giving drivers license by some governors in the US is not proposed to solve the illegal immigration problem or to reduce the number of illegal immigrants, the solution to reduce that number is some form of COMPREHENSIVE IMMIGRATON REFORM which consists of border security, employer accountability and pathway to legalization for those already here. Senator Obama was one of the supporters of this solution, but the bill was not successful in the Senate. He has a plan to pursue that solution when he becomes president.

Some form of drivers license which requires training and insurance for drivers as it is suggested by some governors and Senator Obama has accepted the idea is the solution to public safety issue not illegal immigration. It only means it is better for a governor to ensures all those who are driving on the roads know the rules of law.

Hooch, I don't know why you were misunderstood. I didn't see anything too hard to understand in what you wrote.

Haven said that, I don't believe that giving a drivers license to illegal immigrants in Canada would INCREASE or REDUCE the number of people who cross the border.

Based on your hypotheses, people would be coming because of the prospects of earning a better living (at $100 an hour), not the privilege of driving with a license. Besides, they would still drive without a license anyway.

The issue here is Spitzer's plan to issue CLEARLY DISCERNIBLE drivers licenses to illegal immigrants in New York FOR SECURITY REASONS. These DLs are completely different from the real thing – cannot be used as ID for federal purposes or build a paper trail.

I was so happy to hear Obama was opening a office in Fargo! I am a 32 year old with many issues about health care. I am in a bad state of health because of mine and I believe in Obama and the changes he addresses. He is a real person and has had real struggles like me and you! MY WISH IS TO MEET HIM IN PERSON! I get it. You are a one issue voter. Wow, no wonder the Barack Obama movement is picking up unstoppable pace and waking people up. We have very BIG problems to solve, and must not get bogged down in distractions to divide us. We must have a REAL comprehensive solution to make our illegal immigration problem become NONE.

I say emphatically issuing driver license to a very tiny percentage of the larger immigration problem as a make or break issue IS a RED HERRING. In my view that is a feeble minded position, and is fear mongering of the slippery slope ilk. Driver licenses DO NOT make illegal immigrant legal nor will it ever do. It will not be an incentive for a wave of more illegal immigration. Barack Obama is correct, illegals do not come here to drive (like the want to be extended tourists); they come here seeking WORK!

How are they getting here, Hooch? Solve that first! Our border must be absolutely air tight and secure. That first step is a basic principle of triage, dude. Get your head in the game. Then we must absolute decide together what we do with the illegal immigrant ALREADY HERE.

Some may not like my draconian solutions (I am open to a reasonable compromised comprehensive solution), but I have a tough position: round them up and ship them back to their countries. Anyone hiring an illegal for any reason go to jail and/or pay a very heavy fine. The other tough position I have is once the border is airtight and secure, freeze illegals in place. Now everyone are legal, place a moritorum on immigration for twenty years except for a very small number of skills talent, and family reunification applications in process at the time of the freeze.

Now, my dear citizen, Hooch, those are COMPREHENSIVE SOLUTIONS. The driver license issue IS a red herring and a distraction. Without addressing the REAL issue, we are just fooling ourselves with divisive nonesense and kicking the can down the road WITHOUT SOLVING a problem.

One conservative (could be Republican, I don't know) said do nothing; illegal is illegal. I think the reasoning is we enjoy the benefits of their cheap labor (in my view exploitation), and many will leave by attrition eventually because the skills required in our economy are increasing. I believe this is a ridiculous postion and quite inhumane.

Find a path to citizenship to those already here who have not broken the law, are willing to learn English, pay a fine and not get ahead of those who are here legally. "We are a nation of immigrants but also a nation of laws," he said. I don't think he needs to change anything. The drivers' licenses issue simply needs to be clarified. That he believes it is a state issue for safety, that the state must make sure these licenses cannot be used to vote or as legal ID.

I just have a comment about this drivers license issue. Nobody has brought up the fact that Illinois' ex-governor is serving a prison sentence because of the "drivers license for bribes" scandal in Illinois. Six children were killed in a van by a trucker who did not have a valid drivers license but one obtained with bribes.
Does anyone remember this? No wonder Obama is for legal drivers licenses. When he said he supported safety, I can't help but think he was remembering the pain and sorrow caused by this incident.
These illegal immigrants can be driving a big rigs over our roads and if they hit a car...we all know who ends up on the worse side.
Again, he is using common sense and looking out for our safety. He is not saying what he thinks the majority may be feel about the issue, but what he feels will keep families and motorists alive and healthy!
Maybe some of you more experienced bloggers can get this side of the issue out.
