U.S. Representative Chet Edwards (D-Waco) today endorsed U.S. Senator Barack Obama (D-Ill) for President and released the following statement:
“As the father of two young sons, I care deeply about the future of our nation, and that is why I am endorsing Senator Barack Obama for President of the United States. I believe Senator Obama can bring about real change in Washington--change that will make a positive difference for average working Americans struggling to keep up with the high costs of health care, gasoline and education,” said Edwards, who represents the 17th Congressional District of Texas, which includes the home of President George W. Bush.
“Representative Edwards is a strong advocate for our men and women in uniform and I'm honored to have his support,” Obama said. “Keeping faith with those who serve must always be a core American value and a cornerstone of American patriotism. Whether Democrat, Republican, or independent, we can unite with common purpose around the commitment to our servicemen and women that begins at enlistment and must never end.”
“By voting for Senator Obama, we can say it is time to turn away from the divisive partisan politics of the past and work together for a brighter future for our children and our grandchildren. Now more than ever, we need a leader who can inspire us to do better, to be better. Barack Obama is that leader,” said Edwards.
Edwards has earned bipartisan respect as a champion of veterans and military troops and their families. In 2007, as Chairman of the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Military Construction and Veterans Affairs, he authored the largest increase in veterans’ funding in the 77-year history of the Veterans Administration, and on March 4th of this year, he will receive the Veterans of Foreign Wars highest award given annually to only one Member of Congress.
“As someone who has spent most of my adult life fighting for veterans and for military troops and their families, I am convinced that Senator Obama will be a champion for better health care, housing and quality of life for those who have sacrificed so much for the American family. He knows that standing up for our troops, our veterans and their families is the right thing to do—for them and for our nation’s security,” said Edwards, who chairs the House Army Caucus.
“On behalf of my family and hard-working families all across Texas and America, it is a privilege for me to endorse Barack Obama for President.”
Congressman Chet Edwards’s district is the most Republican district in the nation represented by a Democratic Member of Congress according to political analyst Charlie Cook. Edwards has earned national praise for his leadership on nuclear non-proliferation and religious liberty issues. He is the third ranking Democrat on the House Budget Committee and has served in Congress since 1991.

Thank You Chet! This is huge. Calling Wisconsin right now for voting tomorrow. Making progress. We need everyone to pick up the phone and start calling and letting everyone know who Obama is. The economy, the experience, unfortunately Obama had to cancel a meeting there because of the snow storm. So folks are questioning me about the experience. So whatever you can do....let's bring this home. Thanks again.

PLEASE SAVE THE DATE!!
Obama Works Proudly Presents the Obama Philly Sweep
Saturday, March 1, 2008 - starting at 10 am
Who?
Residents of Philadelphia and surrounding areas who support Senator Obama and his message of hope and change.
What?
A local community service project to transform Senator Obama's powerful message of change into tangible action by cleaning up our city streets while registering voters and spreading the Obama Buzz.
Where?
A Philadelphia neighborhood near you!
Why?
To quote Barack Obama: "WE are the change we've been waiting for."
Event Details:
We would like to invite you to participate in a grassroots campaign event here in Philadelphia called the "Obama Philly Sweep". This event will be three distinct efforts rolled into one and they are as follows:
1. A community service-based event which will give back to our city while supporting our cause.
2. An informal voter registration drive serving new voters and those who wish to change their party status.
3. A traditional campaign event to attract publicity and Get Out The Vote for Obama.
As Barack has always stated this campaign is not about him, it is about us. It is not just a matter of putting a candidate in the White House, it is about supporting a common vision of a nation based on community. When ordinary people come together around a common purpose they can achieve extraordinary things!

I mentioned to a friend yesterday that the Hillary site reminds me of design in the mid to late 90s -- loads of animation, big banners / terminology like "Hillblazers"
It is so in your face (1,000,320,888,666 phone calls in 30 seconds!!!!), the emails mentioning "love" and "heart"...
I think the HRC campaign is still looking at the Internet as a Push technology. The Hillary4U video also comes to mind as a wee bit outdated.

I agree. Her website has such bad vibes; when I go there to spy, it makes me so sick and dizzy I have to leave immediately. I think it may be the Walmart aesthetic left over from her old career. And I think "Hillraisers" is in bad taste because it is a play on "hellraisers". She for some reason loves to portray herself as dark and menacing, which she is.

The second poll shows his lead at only three percent if there is normal turnout. The big lead is only if the youth and African-Americans turn out like thy have in other states. With the bad weather and bad road conditions, we need to work doubly hard to get out the vote. Our ground game should give us an advantage, but we have got to really hustle.

WI will not be the determining factor of her getting out of the race.
The determining factor of her getting out is Texas, Ohio, Penn...All are Clinton camps. Although he is gaining ground in Texas!
The work to do over the next few weeks is Ohio and I mean they have a really diverse voter playground, but I will say it's mostly Clinton.
We need to make sure those young voters are registered and vote.

Now some of these folks believe that it is not true that Hillary gave Bush the authorization for War. Can you believe this....she is now acting like she did not do it. Unreal. Seriously, too much. Hello all,
If you are looking for a great way to build momentum for the upcoming contests check this out:
Below is a link to the With One Voice fundraising campaign for Senator Obama. It was started in honor of the voter in South Carolina who gave this movement $3.01 and a bible verse. She, like most of us, could not afford to max out her financial contribution. However, the spirit of this movement is not a few people doing a lot, it’s many people doing everything they can.
The goal is to echo our friend 10,000 times over and raise $30,100. So far we’ve raised over $7000 from over 220 people.
This is an official Barack Obama fundraiser so funds go directly to the campaign and count towards the 500,000 by March 4th goal.
Please check it out, give what you can and pass the link on.

Thanks!

Clinton, take two: Hillary steals husband's best lines
Independent, The (London), Apr 7, 2006 by Rupert Cornwell in Washington
The evidence that she is after her husband's old White House job grows stronger by the day. Hillary Clinton has long been stealing her husband's policies. Now she's (almost) pinching his best lines.
"There is nothing wrong with America that cannot be fixed by what is right about America," Mrs Clinton, former first lady and currently junior Democratic senator from New York, said in the peroration of a speech to a Hispanic group this week.
Sound familiar? It was. Scroll back to Bill's first inaugural address and his peroration then, to which Hillary was obviously listening very closely. "There is nothing wrong with America that cannot be cured by what is right with America," the 42nd President told the nation on 20 January 1993.
Mrs Clinton's use of the phrase could have been a slip. Possibly, though, it was Hillary herself - one of the most influential first ladies in US history - who was author of the original line 13 years ago, which was then inserted into her husband's address.
But either way, one Clinton is starting to sound very much like another. On the ever-controversial issue of abortion, Mr Clinton used to say it should be "safe, legal and rare". Exactly that formulation has been used by Hillary, shifting to a more centrist position on that, as on other issues.

Hey Mr. from Abell,
Regarding your post on the previous thread: Please don't come here and yell at people suggesting that they are not working hard on this campaign and that they are being lazy. Who are you? Who has the audacity to say this?
You obviously have no idea what is going on behind the scenes. You obviously have not contributed much yourself or you would have witnessed the 100,000 plus active volunteers who are tirelessly working and have carried this campaign to this point. Do you think any of these 100,000+ are relenting? Absolutely not, and the beauty is that more volunteers are joining by the minute.
So, Mr. from Abell, why don't you join us? Set up a public profile and do something yourself instead of YELLING in ALL CAPS at others who you are most likely working harder than you.
Thanks in advance for NOT yelling at us anymore and for getting to work yourself.

Hillary's campaign has gone TOO FAR!
This really makes me mad! Nobody in America is a second-class anything -- Hillary Clinton is going to eat her words when the voters hear about this!
"Superdelegates are not second-class delegates," says Joel Ferguson (co-chair of Hillary's campaign), who will be a superdelegate if Michigan is seated. "The real second-class delegates are the delegates that are picked in red-state caucuses that are never going to vote Democratic."

Please consider donating through my page in honor of my Aunt's sister, Trish, who after serving TWO meals to Hillary and her posse back in 2000, was left without a nickel!
Trish was the first waitress to be stiffed by the Hillmeister. We know that now, we can add to that list at least 1 other waitress, a cleaning company, and a gentleman who rented out his building for her campaign.
If you don't know of her story, please check it out--there's a brief summary on my page as well as a URL that you can copy/paste to read an article. Even if you can't donate, I'm sure the story will get you FIRED UP!!!

Chet Edwards is a great stand-up guy on church-state issues, and the best proof that even in a rural, Republican district, you can support the Constitution and religious freedom and pluralism while getting reelected--even when targeted by Tom DeLay. It's great to have him on our team, and I hope he can help us win Texas.

Hello everyone:
It's my first time posting on here and wanted to share how I became a Obamican.
Obama's incredible speech and message of unity following his Iowa victory struck a chord in me I did not know existed. It gave me chills, and inspired me the way I inagine JFK inspired the people of his generation. I had a positive impression of Obama before this, despite policy differences, but the speech changed things for me. I realized how sick of the extreme partisan fighting that has been the hallmark of party politics for the past 15 years.
As a Republican throughout my voting life, I never would have imagined thinking as I do about Obama. In fact, I found it difficult to explain to fellow Republicans, and it's something I avoided up until now.
It's time to come out of the shadows. I've just pledged $1150 to the campaign. I expect to do that again next month.
On Feb 27th, I head for Dallas. I'm going to volunteer my services for a week including election day. Whatever the campaign wants, I will do.
I'm no longer on the sidelines. America needs Barack Obama and I won't let Hillary Clinton or John McCain keep things in the "status quo".

Welcome SPD!! Your story is my story:) It's nice to meet you here! It's almost surreal at first --at least it was me as a life-time Republican. I became more and more disgusted with the Karl Rove/Tom Delay machine and the lack of any official Republican leadership outrage at their own party's conduct. My change of heart was more tentative, however, than yours. Mine took place in 2000 between the Primaries and General Election. I didn't become engaged until 2004 as a Kerry Volunteer. But it was Barack Obama who inspired me even then! I wore an "Obama for Senate" button while canvassing in my neighboring state of Wisconsin in the Fall of 2004-- and the wonderful people of Wisconsin often commented favorably about my state's candidate for the Senate! I must share with you that my excitement NOW is 1,000 times greater than in 2000-2004-2006! We have such an opportunity right now for our country! Again, welcome and thank you on behalf of all of us who care deeply about our nation!

What of all this press chirping about Barack using Deval Patrick's lines? Basically, it was the "just words" litany. I don't think it's a big deal. Friends trade stuff all the time- especially if it's good. But get this, Howard Wolfson was the one who made a point to leak it the press and said, "I think it raises questions about his candidacy."
Now, isn't there something more constructive the HRC campaign could be doing?

Feb 18th 2008 at 3:04 pm EST
On the topic of military and national security...I am an Arab American raised in Saudi Arabia, so I know a little about fundamental thinking. I also served in the US military intelligence sector and so I know a little on that end too. That being said, I feel that national security in term of terrorism is much more effectively fought through words and diplomacy. Large armies cannot fight individual terrorist...it's like trying to swat flies with a mallet. Our best chance of security is through reaching the moderates in Arab countries and changing the mind set from with in, and so I do feel that in this day and age Obama is actually better equipped to be our commander and chief then McCain, who I respect his service greatly.
Finally, soldiers are just people too, and it's high time that they had leadership advocating for them and their families. Tour after tour and disregard for the mental health of the soldier and their families will take a toll on our society long after the economic effects of the war are recovered. When war is needed, we American have proved that we will stand by our country, but we this is not that war.
Thank you Congressman Edwards for your broad insight and endorsement.

Thank You Jasmine for your service and great post. I agree with everything you say about fighting terrorism and also taking care of the mental aspects of war with our troops. Too many people just look at the numbers of casualties, but forget about the tens of thousands of our soldiers who come back home, but have devastating injuries and mental disorders from this war.
We can not defeat terrorism with military solutions alone and that is one thing John McCain just doesn't get. The idea that we should stay in Iraq for a 100 years would just fuel the propaganda machine for the radicals in the region.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts Jasmine. I think one of the worst things this administration has done is the rotations of our men and women. They have added tours and lengthened tours. They are forcing our men and women to give even more than what they signed on for originally - and what they signed on for orignally is sacrifice enough.
As to seeing to the vets and their families, I think there is nothing more despicable than the shortcomings in the systems that are supposed to support them. I know that services for our vets and their families are a high priority of Barack's and expect his plans in this regard to be some of the quickest to get through Congress after he is elected.

Silly season seems to be back and I’d like to weigh in on this whole “just words” silliness in particular.
I’d like to start by defining what it takes to be a great speaker. To be one of those truly rare individuals that can take a room, stadium or country full of people on an emotional hayride, you first must have the gift cadence. You must have that innate ability that allows you to feel how others are reacting to your words and steer them to the peak or valley of your choosing by the tone and rhythm of your voice alone. This is a gift you either have or you don’t, but it must be there in order to wield the power of inspirational oratory.

The next thing you must have, of course, is a passion for words and expressions. This is where the gift of cadence meets the burden of study. It is also what separates a good speaker from a phenomenon. Since the beginning of time stories have been passed along from generation to generation by word of mouth as well as the written form. The great scholars and leaders in history did not only think and ponder about new things to say, they studied, thought, and pondered about the things that others had said before them. That is what rounds one’s ability to use the wisdom gained from the past to formulate the future. It was also common for these great leaders and speakers of the past to seek the opinion and insight of the people around them in their every day lives. Sometimes our deepest insight can even come “out of the mouths of babes” (oops plagiarism alert) It is also a rare gift to be able to catalogue all of the great lessons and expressions that you have learned and heard and be able to pull them out at the perfect moment to make something crystal clear. There’s nothing wrong with not reinventing the wheel.
So what if Barack Obama uttered words or ideas from a friend and adviser. Where were the cries of plagiarism when he said “E Pluribus Unum”? I’m sure that ditty was not his Where the cries of foul when he said “yes we can” and pushed a movement from an ethereal idea into a living reality? I mean, I’m pretty sure I’ve heard that a time or two as well. Where were the word police when he said “let’s go change the world”? I am also sure that he didn’t coin that one either.

It’s not what you say, it’s when and how you say it. It is what your words and expressions invoke in someone’s consciousness and behavior. It is also one of the greatest qualities we could possibly ask for in a leader, a quality that is a stark contrast from his opponents and bodes well for his chances to govern with success. Barack Obama will take advise and opinion from wherever he can get it and use it skillfully, wisely and appropriately. I even remember him telling Hillary that he looks forward to her advising him as well.
People have been repeating great words and stories throughout history, it is what helped us evolve. It is time to quit analyzing the words and feel the message. If you can’t, that is the real tragedy.

Well said, Aris. As I posted earlier:
After HRC was running around telling everyone that Words are Cheap, some of us on the blog were throwing around the idea that it should be rebutted. We came up with the idea that someone should do a youtube video of HRC saying words are cheap intercut with shows of famous quotes: I have a Dream, Ask not what you can do…etc.
We were throwing this idea around a day BEFORE Obama made his speech in Wisconsin.
Desert Dan did a video BEFORE Wisconsin (IF WE CAN FIND IT WE CAN PROVE THAT BY THE DATE IT WAS CREATED & POSTED). Jim did one AFTER which included BO’s speech.
So if they are accusing BO of plagiarism, maybe he STOLE the idea from the BLOG! We actually were hoping that someone from the campaign was reading the blog & would STEAL our idea! LOL
It is NOT a major leap for ANYONE to hear Words are Cheap & think to themselves, “Well, what about (fill in the blank with any inspirational word). My high school students had the same reaction when they heard it!
That’s why people have reacted SO negatively to HRC’s word: because we ALL know WORDS DO MATTER.
It is insulting that we even have to waste our time on this. That being said, I do worry that some people will only hear one side of the issues & make their decision based on that. The MSM is STILL running this story. It's disgusting!

Ever since Senator Obama has become a Force to reckon with, Hillary Rodham C has been slyly adopting HIS campaign style, HIS rhetoric, and HIS message.
Consider this, Hillary Rodham switched from her "I, I, I" based speeches into the signature INCLUSIVE style of Sen. Obama "We, We, We..." In her recent speeches, Hillary Rodham talks about "the United States of America", of having a "50-state strategy", of "restoring our moral standing in the world", of "taking our country back", of "going to the UN and saying 'America is back!'"
Most BLATANTLY she has once again stole Sen Obama's speech ideas at the Wisconin Democratic Gala last Saturday, Hillary Rodham ended her speech by saying: "let us HEAL the nation..." "seize this moment" etc. etc.
Now, who does her speech remind you of?
Yet again this is a flagrant case of the Clinton Pot calling the kettle "black"...
Her plagiarism of Sen. Obama does not stop at stealing HIS campaign slogans "FIRED UP... READY TO GO..." OR "YES, WE CAN"... It goes on in a much more brazen way by ADOPTING HIS language and HIS message!
See for yourselves and look up her recent speeches.
Please HQ and Anyone else who has the time to analyze her most recent speeches, SEND THE COMPARISON TO ALL THE PRESS!!

Barack gave a beautiful speech on Saturday to the Wisconsin Democratic Party which was seen on CSPAN. The Clinton campaign has shown video of Barack and Massachusetts Governor Duvall Patrick using a few similar words.
First of all, David Plouffe was a part of Duvall’s campaign as well. Secondly, Barack and Duvall have said they bounce things off of one another which if the other party knows this happening, it’s ok. Third, let’s talk about using someone else’s words.
Barack’s campaign has been about CHANGE from the beginning and as far as using someone else’s message, all the presidential candidates have copied that format as well. Let’s not go to that place, Mrs. Clinton. It isn’t becoming of you. As the old adage goes, “People in glass houses, shouldn’t’ throw stones”.

Remind me if I ever run for Office to not have Hillary's people in charge! They are totally incompetent! They never planned for Life after Feb 5th, and didnt even know the rules in Texas even though they want touse it as their fire wall.!
Per the washington Post
"Supporters of Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton are worried that convoluted delegate rules in Texas could water down the impact of strong support for her among Hispanic voters there, creating a new obstacle for her in the must-win presidential primary contest.
Several top Clinton strategists and fundraisers became alarmed after learning of the state's unusual provisions during a closed-door strategy meeting this month, according to one person who attended.
What Clinton aides discovered is that in certain targeted districts, such as Democratic state Sen. Juan Hinojosa's heavily Hispanic Senate district in the Rio Grande Valley, Clinton could win an overwhelming majority of votes but gain only a small edge in delegates. At the same time, a win in the more urban districts in Dallas and Houston -- where Sen. Barack Obama expects to receive significant support -- could yield three or four times as many delegates.
"What it means is, she could win the popular vote and still lose the race for delegates," Hinojosa said yesterday. "This system does not necessarily represent the opinions of the population, and that is a serious problem.""

"Good lord, let’s see if I have this right. The Clinton campaign decides to cede every post-Super Tuesday state to Obama under the theory that Texas and Ohio will be strong firewalls. After – after – implementing this Rudy-esque strategy, they “discovered” that the archaic Texas rules will almost certainly result in a split delegate count (at best).
While they were busy “discovering” the rules, however, the Obama campaign had people on the ground in Texas explaining the system, organizing precincts, and making Powerpoints. I know because I went to one of these meetings a week ago. I should have invited Mark Penn I suppose. (ed. Maybe foresight is an obsolete macrotrend.)"
Note to self: If I ever run for office and base my campaign on the idea that I am ready to lead from day one, I must remember to actually run an effective campaign.

I won't be surprised. The demographics actually set up quite nicely in Texas. The black vote should be 22%+ of the total Democratic vote. If we can get 40% of the Latino vote, I think we're there.
GOTV will be EXTREMELY important, though. We need to focus all of our GOTV efforts on Dallas proper, Austin, Houston metro and throughout east Texas. I wouldn't even waste time calling west or south Texas. There's too much low hanging fruit in those areas I mentioned.

Great news!
Over the weekend....
I made about 300 calls, and spoke to almost 100 people. Of them,
51 supported Obama strong (40)/leaning (11)
36 supported Hillary strong (15)/leaning (21)
13 for GOP.
If these results hold up, for the good of the party, HRC should drop out before she damages the Clinton brand beyond repair.

We need Hillary to LOSE badly to stop her NEGATIVE attacks. Otherwise she will continue ! I expect her to go NEGATIVE at the debate this week. Especially if it is close tomorrow. People can't stand not knowing so they create endless speculations that may or may not have any connection with reality. I have read in a number of other places that Gore and Edwards and some other party faithful are remaining neutral in order to quell and mediate any chaos that could transpire before and at national convention if the primaries/caucuses do not deliver a clear winner. Based on what I know of Mr. Edwards and his positions, I'd say that's as good a theory, if not better, than any other out there. Maybe he doesn't want to be VP, Atty General, ambassador, Sec of State or any other staff player, maybe he wants what's best for the Democratic Party and its chances of stopping the failed policy positions of the past, which McCain is likely to continue if he wins. That's definitely worth being cautious and thoughtful and patient about.

Obama got robbed of ny votes |
Report to Admin
By
Cheryl from Burtonsville, MD
Feb 18th 2008 at 3:28 pm EST
I know this is off topic but this was in an article in the ny post yesterday:
By GINGER ADAMS OTIS
February 17, 2008 -- Barack Obama's primary-night results were strikingly underrecorded in several districts around the city - in some cases leaving him with zero votes when, in fact, he had pulled in hundreds, the Board of Elections said yesterday.
Unofficial primary results gave Obama no votes in nearly 80 districts, including Harlem's 94th and other historically black areas - but many of those initial tallies proved to be wildly off the mark, the board said.
In some districts getting a recount, the senator from Illinois is even closer to defeating Hillary Clinton.
Initial results in the 94th, for example, showed a 141-0 sweep for Hillary Clinton, but the recount changed the tally to 261-136.
As yet, none of the results have been certified, but a ballot-by-ballot canvassing of all voting machines has begun, a board spokesperson said. Many of the mistakes were chalked up to human error -- and some Clinton tallies were wrong as well. In several congressional districts she was shown as having received zero votes when in fact she got hundreds, Boe said.
Brooklyn City Councilman Charles Barron called the understated figures "outrageous."
"I think this is an all-out effort to stop a campaign that is about to make history and render America's first black president," he said. "We need some kind of independent or federal agency to investigate this."

Already pundits on NPR are saying this is none other than grabbing onto whatever they can.

Key is: The Governor suggested Barack use those words because they fit the charge!

Problems:
There needs to be a better answer on the charge of taking Gov. Patrick's words. Obama's support is new support. It was recently gained and can be quickly lost. Sr. McCaskill didn't have a good answer, and a Clinton support is hammering the media on this issue.
The campaign needs to come forward with a logical answer:
Same speech writer
Patrick and Obama were talking about the best response to this charge that words don't matter and Obama agreed to these three talking points.
Patrick is a key advisor and part of the staff and suggested these words, which were quotes of others, not Patrick.
They are slamming this issue on MSNBC, and it will get worse as the real shallow talk show host join in this afternoon.

Folks hear: plagiarism & that's all they hear. It's one of the WORST accusations you can level at someone.

I disagree for several reasons.
1. There are 2 candidates in the race for the democratic nominee. HRC has a low ceiling and high unfavorables.
2. Most democratic primary voters don't know anything about plagiarism. What they will pick up is that Hillary and her team is going nasty and negative.
3. The number of people that do know something about plagiarism and would actually care and are truly undecided is minimal. And they will actually read below the headline and see that it is bunk and that if anything, Hillary is worse at the "offense" than Barack.
4. This is not a bread and butter issue that is impacts voters' daily lives.
5. Barack's supporters are not easily lost because of the deep connections he forms with them.
6. Barack and his team are responding appropriately to the charges.
When you put all of this together, at the end of the day, when people are at their polling place, this probably has a negligible impact.
Anyone really believe that in exit polling that this will be listed by a significant percentage of voters as the reason that they voted for Hillary (To tell you the truth, I wouldn't believe it even if someone said so- the person would almost undoubtedly be a plant- besides all but the marginalized strange people in the country know that Barack has an incredible amount of character).
I also don't believe that people will stay home and not vote for Barack because of this.
Remember, he is not even staying on defense. He is parrying the first thrust and responding with a better one, touche!

The big speech is one of the things that is helping Obama's advantage. If they can call into question the integrity of the speaker, they can undermine his chief weapon. The answer needs to be clear, confidently stated and logical. Kerry let the swiftboat charges go to long before addressing, and it turned the election. The voter that we are trying to reach has little time to sort through the sound-bites and may not make the connections.

HAWAII UPDATE:
There is so much excitement in the air. Hawaii is ready to rumble. I’m ready to devote my time to support Sen. Barack Obama in anyway I can. I’ll be making calls as well as trying to get donations for this worthwhile campaign.
It’s a beautiful morning here in Hawaii. It will be a nice and sunny day with the temperature around the 80’s. Hawaii is excited and ready to deliver the state to our hometown boy Sen. Barak Obama. Let’s all get together and make sure his string of wins continue.
Hawaii I still too close to call. Plainly put, it’s the Obama supporters up against the powerful old democratic establishment and the 25.000 member Hawaii Government Employees Association union. It will be which side that can get out the vote tomorrow night will be the winner of Hawaii.
Sen. Barack Obama was born and raised in Hawaii. He is our native son. It would be very sad if he would to lose on his home turf. Although Sen Obama has been advertising heavily on TV and radio, we must spread the word. He needs our help now more than ever.
Please continue to call, say a prayer, and donate to his campaign. I have been working hard to trying to raise money for his campaign through my personal fundraising page. I humbly ask to please make a donation for our next President of the United States, Sen. Barack Obama.
Hope you all have a wonderful Presidents Day.
Thank you,
Keoki

BOTH!! Both, both, both!
You enter the status of the call (Not Home, Refused (hung up), lupporter or leaning, etc) and then YOU MUST CLICK DONE, or it doesn't get saved.
That is why people get called several times (and then sometimes get angry), because the result was never saved in the first place.
Enter the info, then click "Done". Please.

I am a 66-year old African American woman, the mother of two daughters, one son, one grandson, and two granddaughters. I am absolutely appalled by your misogynistic treatment of Michelle Obama. I am also appalled by your ego-tripping on Senator Obama. Stop acting like one of the crab-in-the-barrel NEGROES! Put your ego in check; it is NOT about YOU and it never was. You have offered the African American community a conduit, which was appreciated by many and needed, but you have gone too far. I doubt that I will ever look at you again with the same neutral stance as before you insulted the Obamas. So, STOP IT! YOU OWE BOTH SENATOR AND MRS. OBAMA A RIGHTEOUS PUBLIC APOLOGY.

(Think Chris Matthews saying because of her husband's philandering, she is where she is now... or some such; and David Shuster's "pimped" comment.)
Clinton even threatened to pull out of MSNBC debate (translate = $$$$$$$$ for MSNBC)
Whenever Clinton pulls this card (the media hates the Clintons) you can bet that MSNBC will will treat her deferentially. But in the end, they're not stupid. My fantasy: They secretly are excited about a "new politics," too.

If they want to turn the page on ths argument the information about the HRC surrogate calling delegates in red states second class delegates should be sent out to every press person immediately. Everyone here who has access should send it out. Start with Drudge. If this is all they have to talk about, ie using phrases your friend and you discussed before and have used before and who by the way, doesn't want any attr ibution and told the campaign to use the idea means the HRC team has nothing to build a campaign on. Where are her tax returns? where are the First Lady White House papers? Another story they could use is the fact that she just NOW after two years, asked to be a co-sponsor of Obama's Patriot Job Act. It took her until she was running in two states that have been hit hard by jobs leaving due to NAFTA to decide she wanted to jump on board? Now that is an issue. Come on team. Let's get these issues out on the blogs and out to the MSM.

It will spin out of control-take Barak off message and so it goes. I have to admit as a Barak supporter(strong) I did not like the idea of him using someone elses speech either. I thought the passion and authenticity of the speech were wonderful. So, if those were not his words it does change how Barak is perceived. Having said this-I know it is petty and the news should focus on the insanity of Bill and Hillary Clinton's fundraising schemes, NYC ballot fraud, commnting on how the red states do not matter, etc. They better put this fire out and get all over the media in Barak's support before it spirals out of control.

I am a believer that good overcomes the bad-but this stuff spreads like wildfire and affects how people think and vote-especially people who are not political junkies like us!! I have seen it throughout the history of elections. People vote for very superficial reasons alot of the time. MILWAUKEE - Harlem Rep. Charles Rangel - one of Hillary Clinton's most stalwart African-American defenders - is apparently questioning her reliance on unelected superdelegates to stay competitive with Barack Obama, saying they may not reflect the "will" of Democratic voters.
"It's the people [who are] going to govern who selects our next candidate and not superdelegates," Rangel said last night at a dinner for the New York State Association of Black and Puerto Rican Legislators conference in Albany.
"The people's will is what's going to prevail at the convention and not people who decide what the people's will is," he added.

I believe that we are simply reacting to Hillary's recent attempts to go negative on Sen. Obama and that he will continue to gain momentum and strength.
I believe that negative attracts negative, and positive attracts positive.
I believe that we are seeing the last desperate attempts from the Hillary camp.
I believe that if we simply continue to do what we have done over the past year that things will work out fine.
I believe that if I were in Hillary's shoes I would be freaking out as well.
I believe I will make a few calls to Wisconsin and donate another $25.

This is absurd. The MSM is talking about similarity in speeches and not concerned about election fraud. Shout it loud when it favors the Establishment but ignore it as if it never happened or it does not matter or it is business as usual. This is a shame. No one is talking about the Election irregularity and fraud.
We have a lot of work to do.
1. Send emails to all MSM, Wolf Blitzer, Anderson Cooper,-CNN, Hardball Chris Matthews, Morning Joe-Joe Scarborough, Keith Olbermann-Countdown, GMA, Tucker, Bill O Reiley, etc. And also the Print Media.
Specifically mention the irregularities NYC votes, zero for OB, NM with 100+ votes for HRC when number of voters is less than that. Link the NY Times report and the NM newspaper. Or forward to them.
Also mention the votes in NH, NV, CA. There were a lot of irregularities. Shameful indeed. Do we need the UN to come and supervise our elections?
Imagine that is the first news item in Situation room. This is an outrage. We need all our votes counted, transcribed correctly and announced correctly.
HQ to make sure these election irregularities is kept alive from today through March 4. Make our friends in the Media report this news.
2. For the next round of voting make sure you document all irregularities with your phones. Send I-report to the MSM, HQ and DNC

This endorsement is quite a capture for Obama. Chet Edwards' congressional district is made up of TX Senate Districts 5 and 22 - both represented at the State level by Republicans with plenty of red in them. This congressional strip includes Waco and Bryan College Station, with several colleges and universities in it. Shows to go ya that classic Obama reach that helps all kinds of places turn purple. One more plus: Chet Edwards is an indefatigable campaigner for whatever his beliefs are and is quite popular in this conservative congressional district. Way to go, Chet! and GO OBAMA deep in the heart of Texas.

With his ability what would we loose if you are apart of change and you are called to serve your country? He is offering to serve - worst we can do is let him serve us for four years. He is calling Americans for that purpose and lets give him "a change". He is qualified for the job since he can rally us all for a common purpose - a call for change. That is not simple but his record has shown it. President Obama is whispering to all our hears. We invested in him as an American child and he has chosen to give back. That is a genuine call for change. Please let us embrace this man and move forward with change. I support Barack Obama. God bless you all.

For all those worried about polls:
The polls are showing all sorts of cockamamie things that just plain aren't so... like support for Clinton in states that Obama just routed. Pay no attention to them!
Also, the Texas Latino voting block IS very important, and we made headway today that will not yet be represented in polls, with an endorsement from the Mexican-American Democratic Party!!!!!!!!!!!!!
That is HUGE.
They'll help get the word out and that's votes not only from the center and disillusioned republicans, those are votes from HRC folks.
I know, in my heart, that Latinos who hear Obama's message will want to be a part of his campaign.
It just needs to come from a credible source.
Even if you don't speak Spanish, you can download Spanish fliers and mention the Mex-Dem endorsement on them and hand them out down there.

My standard comment reads something like this:
I'm so happy to see that the good voters of Texas are seeing through the Clinton rhetoric. I firmly believe a lot of voters have been confused and think that Hillary's mandate means health care insurers/providers would be forced to give them coverage -- basically providing free (or vitually free) health care. I don't think they quite understand that it really means that we, the American people, would be forced BY LAW to buy an insurance policy -- the cost of which has never been revealed. If we don't, it most likely would result in fines and garnished wages. Essentially, we would be breaking the law if we were unable to buy Hillary's health insurance. I don't see how that helps struggling workers and families.
If anyone has Ohio links, I'd love to have them! Happy Obama-will-be-the-next-Preside nt Day!

FUN TEXAS CAUCUS RULE: HUGE IMPLICATIONS |

Feb 18th 2008 at 9:45 pm EST
Hey guys:
I just discovered that in Texas, people can caucus for others, as in substitute. This means if we identify people who will early vote for Obama but can't caucus, we can have out of state volunteers caucusing for them! My mom and I are on our way, ready to step up.
Can you believe this!!!!!! I was making calls last night and met one 82 year-old man who was voting early for Obama but couldn't caucus. I didn't know about this rule or I would have saved his information to match up with a volunteer.
Please make a list of everyone you know who can't caucus because of age, disability, out of town on caucus day, etc. If we could get this going on a state-wide level and get friends in bordering states to come caucus it could make a HUGE difference!
Midtown and I will try to set up a database of out of state volunteers and match them with people who can't caucus. But we need all the help we can get. If you meet out of state volunteers, get their name and number so you can add them to the database. I'm open for ideas for how best to implement this, and also for help. Remember, I'm not even in Texas yet!
Kind Regards,
Justin Bailey
