(My first ever blog)

I'm from Nova Scotia, now living in Toronto Canada.

I haven't been interested in Politics, American or Canadian, for a very long time but now that has changed. What I've been reminded of, by following Senator Obama's bid for the Presidency, is that the Government belongs to the people - it's that simple. It's our collective voices that need to be heard, and only we can initiate the changes we seek.

Senator Obama is not only speaking to Americans but to those of us who aren't American citizens...and we are listening. Everyone, no matter where you're from, what race, religion, your economic standing, political alignment, wants to believe in, and work for a better future; but we've been let down so many times in the past, like you, by our elected officials, our faith in government has been erased.

I am a Canadian citizen, but like you, a citizen of the world. We are all tied together by a common experience - the human experience.

I truly hope the American people choose the future because all of us "outside looking in" want that as well.

Well, it was an odd segment. It showed a selection of voters in Chilcothe, OH. 2 were for Obama, 2 for Clinton, 1 very down on his luck man leaning Obama. He was worried about the Muslim rumors but was considering Obama anyway. Steve Croft corrected the man, who didn't realize it was a rumor. Kind of depressing, this segment, like what we encounter on the phones and even on this blog sometimes and certainly in external blogs. Those people are really hurting and that you don't see on blogs or hear over the phone. That said, Obama was steady and sure and Clinton talked about how Bill didn't secure the nomination until June. Excuse the following saracasm break: "Terrific! Tear us apart through June! Don't use your considerable knowledge and skills toward unity and finding solutions with the nominee for the people of the country." I'll tell you who needs a reality check.

The talk shows today were more reasonable but I am more dedicated than ever about calling TX in the AM. I'm going to go donate and come back.

Nearly everyone I´ve been talking to here in Germany wants Barack Obama to be the next President of the United States. Unfortunately as a German I cannot give support. But my 25 year old son, who graduated from college in Greenville, SC, is working with enthusiasm for the Obama Campaign. He startet in September in SC, went on to Georgia and is now volunteering in Cincinnati, Ohio. Even though he can not vote, I know he´ll do his best to help make Barack Obama your next president. Although you can't contribute to the campaign, you can help in little ways. Your comments here inspire me (I just waded out a an AOL comment thread that felt like a swamp of ignorance)

You can maybe go on ebay and buy tshirts or such to give to people here who can't afford to buy their own? Maybe you can team up with people in the contested states and help them support Barack?

Don't disclose personal stuff here, but you could do this. Or help with phone bills for people who are canvassing that way. Easy to verify with campaign HQ.

Although I am financially challenged, I am blessed to be able to make buttons and signs, and I have 2 shirts plus one I made with a permanent marker. Someone came up to my car to ask a serious question yesterday because of papers I have in the window.

Also, if anyone has the energy, take a little time to put reasonable stuff in the wild and childish comment sections of AOL, Yahoo, and all the rest. Bottom-dwellers are lurking there with lies and spin.

Thank you again for your support and your points of view. We fluctuate here between thinking everything revolves around the USA and thinking that no one cares...after all, what could follow Bush?

I also have traveled to many parts of the world. It is a sign of respect to learn the customs. The ignorance of people who do not understand the importance of dressing accordingly have given their country a poor image.

My parents are thousands of light years away also, OH I mean, It is great to have parents and children of all ages talking about Barack. Funny thing today, "My 5 yr old told me today he had a newspaper and it had Obama's house in it.", IT was the Oval Office, with his "table"(desk).
And I have talked Obama with my parents, one in Michigan did not vote, and one in CA probably won't tell me, but I should know(lifelong Republican) although I think I(and all of us) convinced my "I'm a Republican" brother in CA, I HOPE.

I agree wholeheartedly with your objection to fences on the Canadian border. As a resident of Alaska, it has been disheartening to see the current administration take measures toward Canada which make land travel between Alaska and the lower 48 (heck, even land travel between Anchorage and Juneau, for that matter) more difficult. It's time to stop treating Canada as a threat and return to a policy that recognizes them as our nearest and staunchest ally.

Having been on MYBO since Feb. 10, 2007 I have read from what appears to be many non-Americans as well as Americans who travel are abroad. We have been told that America and Americans are looked at and thought of differently, as of late. Barack was well receieved in Africa and I am hopefull that the energy he is bringing to America will spread globally, I believe it will. I can imagine the world leaders coming together energized to participate with Barack and America and hopefully solve global problems. I can see Barack empowering some groups and people standing up for human rights around the globe.

This is my first time posting on the Obama website, but have been a member for a while now. I must say the outpouring of support from people in other countries shows me just how America has lost its way in the world. We need new leadership and a leader who can CHANGE how the worls views us, and gain our repsect back..as the saying goes RESPECT must be earned!! Anyways there is a couple of lyrics from a song I would like to share, even though it is a love song these words can be used to represent supporters of OBAMA.

I have never been inspired by a political candidate like I have been with Barack Obama. He is the right man for the job, and he has the leadership qualities required and the plans in place to get the job done and restore hope to Americans from every walk of life, every political party, every race & ethnicity, and every financial background. His campaign is funded by the people, and he will help people like you and me when he is our next President.

I've made phone calls over the last few weeks to voters in Virginia, Maryland, Wisconsin, Hawaii, and Ohio. I've been doing other ground work on my own, including sending emails and messages almost daily to friends and family. And I've made two cash donations to the campaign as well.

My birthday is coming up in a couple weeks, St. Patrick's Day, March 17th. Since I will be heading into my final year of my 20's, turning 29, I have decided that I need a very special present since the realization that I will be thirty in a little over a year is not coming easy.

My take on the end result | Report to Admin

Thinking about Ohio and Texas is fine, but I think we need to think more broadly. We are dealing with an opponent who will not quit after Tuesday regardless. Therefore here is how the data shakes out:

1. Obama is ahead by 160 pledged delegates
2. Clinton leads by around 40 Superdelegates

It is rather interesting, if you look at the superdelegates who are elected, it is about 50/50. Therefore, Clinton's lead among supers is exclusively with the DNC members. If you take a look at the remaining superdelegates, approximately 50% of these are in states where the Clinton name is toxic. In addition, because Nancy Pelosi wants to have high energized turnout, I believe she will quickly be forced to take sides. This should cause a flood of superdelegates to switch to Obama, as most house members will follow their leader....Finally, there are the elder statesmen, which are moving in our direction....

I don't think the country cares to see this go to Pennsylvania...I can think of nothing more boring than a 7 week buildup towards a state which at most will yield one candidate around 12 delegates and polarize the party...Also, keep in mind, that even if Clinton eeks out more delegates on Tue, this lead will be vaporized by Mississippi and Wyoming, and this so called Pennsylvania firewall will be negated by NC and Indiana....I am sure there are lots of Republicans in Indiana who are licking their chops at the thought of getting to possibly end HRC should things continue....Also, NC on 5/6 is Virginia with better basketball, so I think we can run up the score there.

some say this is all excitement...
I call it “proud to be an American”...

the cult is called America...

the Obama movement is connecting America.
and it has made "US" realize our importance...
the youth is excited and activated...
adults are passionate and motivated...
the elderly are proud to know the country they built is in safe hands...

we are one...

for too long politics has been corrupt...
separate from the American people...
with agendas that go against what the American people "need"...
education...
health...
safety...
jobs
etc...

politicians have spoken a different language...
making it so the youth and poor people feel as if voting was only for the wealthy and old people...
making "US" feel as if "we" had no voice...
making "US" feel powerless...
making it feel like if "we" did vote it wouldn’t change anything...

but wait...
that did happen...
some of us voted, and it didn’t change anything...

we were in the dark...
we had no voice...
we were powerless...

because America was not a united America...
and "they" spoke a different language...
and they had an agenda different from our well being...

correct me if I’m wrong... or speak up if I’m missing something...

we want education, health, safety, and good jobs...right???...
oh yeah...
and "a healthy planet to live on"...

Good news from Ohio... Today in Cincinnati they made a human chain in Ohio. My sister participated and she reported that people were honking at them non-stop holding up Obama signs, yelling Yes We Can.

They were people of all ages and races who were rooting them on in this Conservative city.

Same in RI..only 2-3 obama supporters, some people very rude..but they are probably sick of calls coming in..this happened in WI as well..I think by the end of campaigns voters in these states have had it with anyone calling them. It seems to be part of the process. tougher at the end.

Plus I can no longer access the calling site..for about an hour now.

So instead we'll watch Barack on 60 Minutes

I had great responses from Ohio, for those of you who have never called before, if people are hearing Barack's name on the phone, even if they say they are not supporting him, sometimes they change their mind on the way to the polling place. If we are calling and saying we are for Senator Obama, then we are doing our job. When I called during John Edwards campaign, it was horrible that was 4 years ago and people were not yet in such desperate financial means. Now everyone it seems wants change and they are at least listening.

Keep on calling and my best suggestion is to be polite. The people in Ohio do not like it when you are rude or talk fast, you need to reach out to them this is an important way to let the Ohio voters know that America cares about them so they should care about this election.

Call, say please and thank you on each call.

I must tell you I am an OBAMA suporter in Rhode Island and I have not received even 1 call from either candidate. I have received many negative mailings from the Clinton camp though. I see no yard signs for either candidate and my OBAMA bumper sticker is the only one for either candidate I have seen in weeks. There is not much action going on here at all from either candidate.

Hm, that's too bad. It's been tough to buy stuff from the on-line store, too, since it's all in such high demand. I had to mail some of my yard signs to a supporter in Ohio. Wish I'd known earlier that Rhode Island wasn't overwhelmed with Obama gear!

I printed a sheet on my pc and put it in a mylar page cover and put it by my mailbox. I hope the rain won't ruin it, but people walking by, riding biks, or just driving the speed limit at least know there is a little glow of hope here.

Yes please keep calling. I actually think it gets easier nearer the end - now it seems we are really just trying to get out the vote (although I have to say I am still coming across a lot of undecideds). For the undecideds I have found that it really works to just explain why you are volunteering for Obama (I usually emphasize that he is a smart, honest, decent person, who is pragmatic and will actually get things done in Washington). Another thing that convinces people is when I tell them the no lobbyist no special interest groups giving money and that his campaign is mostly small donor - usually $25 or $50 donations - with over a million dollars.
So keep calling - it's very close - let's put them all over the top and win all four!!

Don't be nervous about Tuesday. Barack will do just fine. He has already won the nomination. Clintons cannot steal it. Just look at the delegate math, and you would know that as long as we stay close in race, we have already won. The superdelagates will not follow Clinton anymore. She will not have an advantage of more than 50 in the superdelegates, we are up almost 150 in pledged delegates. As long as the race is tight or in our favor, the race will be won. That is why it is sad that Hillary is not quitting. Her strategy may be to bloody Barack so that he may have difficulty getting elected in November, and she can then try to run again in 2012. Very opportunistic and mean people Clintons are!

Back in 1992 (when I was 22), Bill Clinton ran a campaign about "a place called Hope", his hometown. Now is wife rejects such hope. She is my senator, and I do support as senator, but not for presidential nomination. Her true colors have shown these past few days. If she wins the nomination, she will not win the presidency. Again, as her husband said years ago, I believe in a place called hope, and it resides in Sen. Obama.

How about the deal in upstate NY where she promised 225,000(?) jobs in technology and it is now negative 30,000(?). she is fighting for a special visa to allow more people from India in to be employed with that company instead of the poeple from NY. Why isn't this mentioned?

I agree. I spoke with several people in Vermont today who were happy to say that they were voting for Barack Obama on Tuesday. Two people asked me questions about his position on the war, the economy, education, veterans issues. We had a great discussion and both said that they were voting for Senator Obama on Tuesday when we finished speaking.

If all of the Obama callers each convert a couple of undecided voters, imagine the impact it will have on Tuesday!

We’re not buying what we see on the news networks. They say they've been biased against Hillary. Well she brought a lot of that on herself. Her campaign has been poorly run. She ignored the majority of the country to focus on the big states and the ones that could do the most for her. Obama has run a tremendously laudable campaign. He worked hard in every state because they not only matter for this campaign but because they're important for a better America. And he's had tremendous success helping us to hope again in the American Dream for all Americans.

Yet Clinton, who can't grasp the hope and vision, is trying to spin it with her magical alchemy potion (which is how she and Bill have chosen to use her intelligence). She sprinkles her alchemy potion all over the media and suddenly the only reason Obama has been so inspiring is because of the way the media has improperly portrayed Hillary. Give me a break. This propaganda is so sad. But the media is all over it. They’re trying to spin it into truth. But we’re not buying it. They reported what was happening and we deserved to see and hear how people were responding positively to Obama. We deserve to hear what’s new and fresh, optimistic and hopeful. Kudos to the news networks who refuse to be manipulated by the alchemist powder.

I cried when I listened to the fellow who thought Barack was Muslim. This will sound stupid, I'm sure, but this is the first time it really hit home for me in an emotional way that all these people are losing their livelihoods. Then to hear that this fellow will be without health insurance and that his wife has MS... I can only imagine what a nightmare the whole thing must be.

If you know him, please thank him for sharing his story. He seemed like a good man in a really tough spot, and I really liked the fact that he liked Barack and was leaning toward voting for Barack, even while he believed the lies about Barack being Muslim, etc.

Consider who is the *direct* beneficiary of these ugly rumors? Your friendly former First Lady.

Talk about rejecting and denouncing - it's the Clinton machine, who has borrowed from Lee Atwater (remember Willie Horton, 1988) the worst racist tactics.

My problem is figuring out if I actually can support Hillary if she wins this.

I suggest our campaign and our candidate should not be too nice: Obama said that the "confusion" about this relgion, etc., is "intentional." That's great - but he needs to ask Hillary to reject and denounce such stuff.

Mark Penn and the boys/girls make me ill. They are as bad as Karl Rove, and I, for one, will not forget this in the fall.

P.S.I am 63 and a life-long Democrat.

Did any one see his show Friday night or a replay. I saw the rebroadcast today and he really messed with Hillary. He also went over the stupid patriotism attacks against Obama, one by one. Ohio Voter Fraud | Report to Admin

Please bring recording devices to the polling stations in Ohio. Ohio has one of the worse records on voter fraud. Specifically in the African American areas. They're have been loud rumors in Ohio that governor Strickland will try and disenfranchise black voters. He'll employ the same tactics they used in the 2004' presidential elections.

If anybody can man the polling stations in predominately black areas with a video cameras and crew - that would be great. Also, people should also contact the media as soon as they are aware of the voter fraud.

Some of the tactics they used in 2004 were the following: They opened late and closed the polling stations early. When blacks arrived at the polling stations they were told that they had to have all three forms of documentation to vote: driver's license, birth certificate AND social security card . If they didn't, they were not able to cast a vote. Blacks were also mailed wrong voter precinct information. They also made some blacks vote two counties away from their homes as to discourage them from voting. And they took away voting machines from heavily populated black areas and placed those machines in the suburbs. As a consequence, the average black voter had to wait 2-4+ hours to vote.

Also, a quick tip...If you can, bring a box of donuts or muchkins and share them with people waiting on line. The last thing we need is for people to get tired of waiting and decide not to vote.

can someone, briefly, explain the primary system in texas?

i heard its a mixture between "normal" primary and caucus? so does this mean that some parts of texas hold a caucus whilst others dont or does it mean that some parts have a mix of both?!

and will they wait till the caucuses finish before we get results?

i`m a bit puzzled..

Texas is the only state where you get to vote twice legally. There is a regular primary that goes on all day. You will get a ticket and/or receipt -- you then go back to your voting place that evening for a caucus. There are more delegates in the primary but still a substantial amount at play in the caucus. So there will be 2 announcements of "winner" for the state -- 1 could win the primary and 1 could win the caucus -- my bet is on HOPE takes both!

The primary results will be posted when they know them. The caucus results should be posted that evening. The Clinton camp is trying to get the MSM to not announce the caucus results later but that is NOT going to happen.

What I have read is that they hope to win the popular vote, even though we are likely to get more delegates, even from the regular voting.

Hillary tends not to do well in caucus states, so the hope - with not announcing the results of the caucus - is that winning the popular vote will seem more important if it's not obvious that they have lost in the caucus. It's all about the appearance of a win and momentum that provide justification for them to stay in the race.

The two senators came close to running into each other in this Columbus suburb, where Clinton spoke at one high school and Obama spoke several hours later at another. Obama supporters boasted of a much larger crowd.
