Message from Barack: The results

Barack just sent out this email...

Friend --

We just won a decisive victory in North Carolina thanks to people like you.

Indiana remains too close to call. But what is clear is that we did much better than all the pundits predicted, despite Republicans changing parties to support Senator Clinton, believing she would be easier for Senator McCain to defeat.

Here's where we stand.

As of Tuesday morning, we needed just 273 delegates to clinch the nomination. When the votes are fully counted Wednesday morning, we will have gained more than a third of them in a single day.

We have a clear path to victory. But now is the time for each one of us to step up and do what we can to close out this primary.

Please make a donation of $25 right now:

Thank you for everything you're doing,

Barack

NO DOUBT!

In my best Austin Powers: YA BABY!

So, HRC kept drawing line after line in the sand like a Bugs Bunny cartoon: OK, Texas, no wait Ohio, how about PA, would you believe North Carolina...

Well, all I can say is, two words: BODY SLAM!

She may still carry on like the Black Knight in Monty Python & The Holy Grail, but who's listening? Hillary may say "tis a scratch, come back here, I'll bite your kneecap off". I'd say "What are you gonna do, bleed on me?"
-(sounds rude, but these are movie quotes)-

I mean, it looks like Barack will take NC by 14 to 16 points, and lose Indiana say 49 to 51. And he COULD win. That would be HEAVEN!

It's just sad that Hillary made her campaign and ours unnecessarily spend tens of millions of dollars from Texas till now, that COULD have gone to the general.

But bottom line, we're stylin!

Pleasant Dreams family! We done did good!

As a poor working class egghead graduate student who lives paycheck to paycheck while trying to help my parents stay afloat, I watched the returns last night with happy tears streaming down my face. It was a great GREAT night! I am so proud of what we have accomplished. It was even better to see my dad watch, his candidate's (Hillary) speech and sit up and say, "She needs to stop now and throw her support behind Barack." My mom and I cried because he finally got it. He finally understood what I have been saying since day one, and what my mom had been saying since just before the PA primary. He finally understood that the only true way to change the country is through Barack Obama.

Culled from the African blogosphere (nigeria2day@aol.com:

Niger Delta oil rebels
considering Obama truce appeal
Rebels who have stepped up attacks on Nigeria's oil industry in the last month said on Sunday they were considering a ceasefire appeal by U.S. presidential hopeful Barack Obama. The Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta (MEND) has launched five attacks on oil facilities in the Niger Delta since it resumed a campaign of violence in April, forcing Royal Dutch Shell to shut more than 164,000 barrels of oil per day (bpd). "The MEND command is seriously considering a temporary ceasefire appeal by Senator Barack Obama. Obama is someone we respect and hold in high esteem," the militant group said in an e-mailed statement.

MEND did not say when or where Obama, the leading candidate for the Democratic ticket for November's U.S. presidential election, made the appeal. It said it hoped the government would use any ceasefire to improve conditions for its detained leader, Henry Okah. The militant group also claimed responsibility for an attack on Shell facilities in southern Bayelsa state on Saturday, which caused a spill and prompted the company to shut some production. The attack came a day after a federal court ruled that Okah should be tried for treason and gun-running in secret. Angered by the ruling, MEND had threatened prompt reprisals against the oil industry. Peace talks between the government and militants to resolve the unrest in the Delta stalled after Okah was arrested in Angola in September. He was extradited to Nigeria in February to face trial. The volatile Niger Delta is the heart of Nigeria's oil industry, which exports around two million barrels per day (bpd), but energy multinationals have been struggling to cope with a wave of violence in the vast area. As part of a campaign for greater local control over oil revenues, MEND launched violent attacks in early 2006 which shut a fifth of Nigerian output and drove up world oil prices. The latest wave of attacks and an eight-day strike by senior oil workers at U.S. energy giant Exxon Mobil which ended on Thursday, had slashed Nigeria's output by 50 percent, helping to push oil prices to new records.

I guess folks think this is a better option than lifting the "road tax", prices dropped a few dollars a barrel days ago. Saving lives and avoiding environmental damage through spills.

Keep this in mind -- no matter how many Republicans or Independents Barack is able to "win over" -- he doesn't stand a chance in November if you don't have the votes from the millions who voted for Clinton -- a lot of people worked very hard for her and voted for her and you describe her campaign like a Bugs Bunny cartoon. We don't have a lot of hope in November if this is the prevailing attitude.

Hillary has been playing games all along in this campaign. She is not for real. She is now playing "Follow Leader" with Senator Obama leading. Last night when Hillary was giving her talk, not speech, Bill Clinton's face was red as a "BEET". He looked so angry until he was scary to look at. Every now and then he would try to put on a happy face but the world could see that Hillary, Bill and Chelsey were not "happy campers. Good for them, they are the so called quote, "strong candidates". They do not care about this country. Bill proved that when in was in the White House. He was down the hall having sex "with that woman". Where was Hillary sleep at 3:00 a.m. while Bill was with "that woman". The Clintons are a joke to the whole world. If she wants to bring more humiliation upon her and her family, so be it.

Hillary Clinton only gets what she gave...negative, smear and fear. She did this to herself. She is no victim. She pandered and slandered and now that it did not work for her the way she hoped, suddenly she is to be treated with kid gloves.
If Hillary had taken the high road, she would not have triggered such a bad reaction among the other half of the Party.

Barack Obama did NOT attack her. He did not attack anyone but John McCain.

If Hillary Clinton is to remain relevant, she has to stop bleeding her own party for her own ambition. People see through this, and that is why you hear such comments about Senator Clinton.

Fighting dirty is a bad legacy to create.

I am so sorry you feel that way. As a woman who is proud to vote in every election, no matter if it is local, state or national because of what was sacrificed to get me the right to vote, I am disheartened by what I have seen Hillary do and say during this campaign. In 2004 during the keynote speech of the Democratic Convention I saw someone who was unknown galvanize not just the convention, but the country. His speech made all of the political reporters stand up and scramble to find out who this guy was. From that day, I knew that if he were to ever run for President, Barack Obama was my candidate. It has nothing to do with the Women's Movement. If that is how you really are looking at it, that because she is the first woman who had a legitimate shot she should just be handed it and to hell with the will of the people, then you are looking at things from a terribly skewed place. Barack Obama did not ride any coat tails to get to this point. He was UNKNOWN and worked his way to this moment. HE HAS EARNED IT BY THE WILL OF THE AMERICAN PEOPLE! The media likes him, but they have also been his biggest attackers. How is that sliding into this without any work on the media's coat tails? Why should he stand aside and just hand Hillary the nomination because she is a woman and a Clinton? That logic doesn't make any sense. The race for President should be focused on the BEST person for the job, not who is next in line. Hillary has only proved to this voter that she cries to get votes (which is insulting to me as a woman), blanently lies and makes up more lies to get out of those lies, and is terribly out of touch with what people are really going through. She even said herself during her gas station stop last week, she had no clue what gas prices are because she can't remember when she last had to buy or pump gas. This is NOT the person I want in the White House. I WANT BARACK OBAMA! I want the man who can and will unite the country after 8 years of division.

I AGREE!

I am disabled (with a progressive condition that has gotten much worse over the past 5 years). But thank God, I still have the use of my hands and arms - and my voice - so I can, and do, make telephone calls for Barack (i.e., phonebanking), which calls I pay for myself. I receive a small amout of disability income from the Federal government. And that's it.

Over the course of the campaign, I have donated a total of $750 to Barack. After taking into account the approximate cost of the telephone calls (and if you squeeze the donations and phone bills into one month - to get a proper perspective on my income versus expenses), I am left with only $58 to pay for everything else I need - food, shelter (which includes gas, electric, sewer), medications, medical supplies and health care (including transportation), etc.

Billary made $109 Million over the past 6 years. Let Hillary pay for her own campaign bills!

'Nuf said.

I think it was the "VOTE FOR DADDY" in IN

Now. If this campaign gives one penny of what
I and we have all scraped up to give to Sen. Obama and his message to Sen. Clinton, I want
my money back. Tell her to pay her own darn bills
with her $109 million. Grownups handle their money, don't spend more than they have, and pay their bills-all of them. She and Bill have 2 Yale
Law School degrees between them. Go get a real job and pay your own bills. How demeaning and how low can they stoop?
Don't do it.

(repost - last time tonight!)

How The Obama Campaign Changed My Life

Last month I drove the seven hours to Pennsylvania to volunteer for Obama. I was one of the 35,000 people cheering for Obama at the rally Philadelphia, and I canvassed in Harrisburg, Scranton and Reading. I returned home because I was painfully aware that I was spending my rent money on gas, and I just couldn't afford another fill up. (I was laid off and money is really tight. Another interview tomorrow!)

On the Obama blog, the night of the April 22 primary, I posted my regrets that I couldn't donate because I found myself $300. short on my rent. The next morning, an email shocked me. A fellow Obama supporter saw my post and offered to buy one of my Obama necklaces for $300. I was totally overwhelmed, since job hunt isn't going well at all.

As we emailed back and forth, her story really moved me. Born in Iran, she'd lived in England for many years before winning a visa lottery to come to America. She's the only Iranian I've ever known. She embodies Obama's message of unity, and the kindness she showed me, a total stranger, is something this whole campaign should be proud of. One of the major reasons she supports Barack is her staunch opposition to attacking Iran. I'll be devastated if Hillary gets a chance to "obliterate Iran" or McCain gets to sing his twisted song "bomb bomb bomb Iran" in the Oval Office.

So, I want to do more to get Obama elected.

In addition to the logo necklace Afsaneh wanted, I made two custom necklaces using a photograph I took of Barack in Philadelphia. One, I sent to the beautiful Afsaneh, and one, I've put up on ebay Link for Obama. 100% of the sale price of this one-of-a-kind necklace will go directly to Obama for America.

Link ·:*¨¨*:· If you want to keep this wonderful "pay it forward" story going, BID! ·:*¨¨*:· Link

Oh, and yes, I paid my rent on time. It felt amazing.

Couldn't vote in Indiana....  |  Report to Admin
By Justin from Carmel, IN May 7th 2008 at 3:08 am EDT
I am a republican who showed up to vote in the Indiana primary to vote for Obama. I was upset that I was not given the opportunity to vote for Obama. My understanding is that republicans can vote in the democratic primary. When I went to work and shared my experience, I spoke with a number of other republicans who had the same upsetting experience. I have to wonder how many republicans across the state of Indiana were not able to vote for Obama who rightfully should have. I have a feeling this might have swung the election. Most republicans I know, if given a choice between Clinton or Obama, would greatly prefer to have Obama in office. I don't buy the argument that republicans would vote for Clinton thinking she's easier to beat because of the risk of sending her to office. This might have made the difference in Indiana.
