......Link .......Aside from the fact that no pledge was ever made, McCain’s own abuse of the public financing system negates any presumption of good faith on his part.

McCain isn’t just eager to use public financing as a way of neutralizing Obama’s potential fundraising advantage in a general election match-up, he was eager to use it to bail out his flagging campaign. Via Paul Kiel at TPM Muckraker:

As The Washington Post reported on Saturday, John McCain’s campaign struck a canny deal with a bank in December. If his campaign tanked, public funds would be there to bail him out. But if he emerged as the nominee, there’d be no need for public financing, since the contributions would come flowing.

It’s an arrangement that no one has ever tried before. And it appears that McCain, who has built his reputation on campaign finance reform, was gaming the system. This places McCain’s grandstanding on public financing in a new light. True reformers believe public financing is a way to replace the lobbyists’ influence, not a slush fund that the lobbyists use to pay off campaign debts.

Hardly the kind of behavior you’d expect from a self-avowed champion of the taxpayer’s dollars. McCain’s own financial irresponsibility led his campaign to bankruptcy, and in his moment of need, he expected a government bailout. As usual, Republicans think of welfare as “big government” except when they’re broke and need money.

....McCain’s arrogance in Wisconsin....

“What do we want?” he asked, “A bridge to nowhere, or a tax credit for every child in America of $1,000?”

As usual, the Republicans’ allergy to “big government” begins and ends with economic regulation, while acquiescing entirely to invasions of privacy and violations of due process. McCain likes to brag about his record on earmarks, and yet he saw no hypocrisy in expecting taxpayers to foot the bill for his campaign to the tune of five million dollars should he fail to become the nominee.

But perhaps the most telling part of the anecdote is McCain’s proclamation with a Democrat in power, we would see more useless spending in the mold of Alaska’s $223 million “bridge to nowhere”.

That earmark was proposed by Senator Ted Stevens, a Republican.

I am one of the million, and I just got done voting early -- for Sen. Obama -- in Texas. One of the people at the polls commented on how many young people were out to vote so far. I feel like that's a very good sign.

Yes I am one of the million! I am amazed by the people who are donating to this campaign. Around 11:00 this morning the amount of people who had donated to this campaign was a little under 500,000 now the amount of donors is over 900,000. Where did they come from? This is AMAZING AND ASTONISHING!

Just to clarify for the previous poster... The 500,000 # was for new campaign "owners" in 2008. The 927,000+ campaign "owners" is since the beginning of Baracks campaign. Both are astonishing numbers, and I am proud to say I am "1" of those owners too, but, please, don't be confused, Barack is not trying to manipulate #'s like HRC, HQ just realized that once we had passed the 500K mark (the original goal), they were just 100K shy of the total of 1M, and since we had blown away the first goal..they added the second!

But let's put it in perspective...Barack had just under 400,000 donors in 2007...so far (in just over 1.5 MOS of 2008, we are at nearly 530,000 owners of this campaign! That is amazing!

Keep giving, sponsor someone w/ a matching donation, YES, WE CAN beat 1,000,000 owners by 3/4/08

I was at the Reunion Arena, Obama rocks...!!! different folks...young and old of all races. Independents, Republicans...and Democrats all around me. I thought I was the most fired up before I got there....but there were people 1000 times fired up more than me around... :)

In answer to the person who posted "Clinton's Blueprint" article asking for response...I personally don't feel like she even has a chance anymore...#5 of the article brings up the National Security issue saying it will point out Barack's inexperience...I couldn't DISAGREE more...to me, that issue is the nail in her coffin...Her disgusting vote for the war..again, as stated by a Republican Senator...regarding anyone who voted for that war...it should've
been a CAREER ENDING DECISION. Personally..I remember watching Colin Powell giving his presentation to the UN and saying I can't believe HE is doing this...if I could see what a bunch of bunk it was..surely she could've.

Just wanted to add...I would LOVE for Barack to find a way to address the SERIOUSNESS of this lack of judgment in Hillary voting for the war. He does bring it up all the time, even in the debates, but the HUGE impact of that one decision seems get glossed over as if it was just another vote on any old issue. I think it would serve him well to get a more DRAWN OUT RESPONSE...new wording.. that really drives home what a GROSS error in judgment that was on her part...enough so that she could not be trusted to be Commander-In-Chief...Hmmmmm... .would like to see someone in his campaign put their thinking caps on for the debate tonight...

If you are looking for a great way to celebrate and build momentum for the upcoming contests check this out:

Below is a link to the With One Voice fundraising campaign for Senator Obama. It was started in honor of the voter in South Carolina who gave this movement $3.01 and a bible verse. She, like most of us, could not afford to max out her financial contribution. However, the spirit of this movement is not a few people doing a lot, it’s many people doing everything they can.

The goal is to echo our friend 10,000 times over and raise $30,100. So far we’ve raised over $7200 from over 225 people. This is an official Barack Obama fundraiser so funds go directly to the campaign and count towards the 1,000,000 goal.

After reading Barak's position on faith and politics, and seeing how respectfully he addressed the pro-life physician's concerns, I'm confident that his leadership as President will make it easier for me to live out a Christian life. I don't need him to be my preacher, just my President who will sincerely listen to and consider the comments and views of preachers. I think he will do that, so I can support him with my vote, my money, and my time.

Yes, one in a million and I was at the Dallas rally and it was rocking! Quite a wait to get inside, and the crowd outside was HUGE. I do not know the official numbers, but it looked like better than a thousand people were turned away due to the limited capacity of Reunion arena.

I feel betrayed by my senators in the State of Washington so i wrote them this letter...

Dear Senators Murray/Cantwell,

Hello, my name is Curtis Knapp and I go to Shadle Park High School in Spokane where I was recently reelected Senior Class President. I am seventeen years old and proud to say that I have already joined the ranks of the voting adults in our great state. On February 9, 2008 I, along with hundreds of thousands of your supporters caucused and proudly voiced our support for one of the two candidates vying for the nomination of the Democratic Party in the race for President. I am proud to say that I am part of the 68 percent of democratic voters who voiced support for Senator Barack Obama. I am even more proud to say that I am one of his 21,629 delegates to the Legislative District Caucuses. It is clear that more than two thirds of democratic voters in the state of Washington support Barack Obama; however you have turned your back on our needs of hope, change, and inspiration.
Why have you betrayed us? Washingtonians have repeatedly elected you to represent us in the United States Senate; however it is clear that you no longer reflect the vision of your voters in Washington. As a young leader and the future of the state of Washington, I urge and implore you to change your weighty vote as a superdelegate to mirror the clear and proud choice that your constituents have made. I also think you should keep in mind that if the voters of the state of Washington see that you no longer share our views, your days in the Senate could be limited.
While partisan politics is one of the detriments of our government that has exploded during the Bush years, you and I both recognize that a Democratic president serves the interests of Washington better than John McCain’s Bushisms. If you cannot find an issue based reason for aligning yourself with Change, then consider that most polls show McCain beating Clinton, while all the polls show Obama beating McCain by nearly ten points. You have aligned yourself with the status quo. Hillary Clinton represents business as usual in Washington DC and lobbyist money and influence. Please do what is best for Washington and pay attention to your voters: our opinions matter, please listen to us.

I would have loved to get in, but waited in line for 90 minutes, found out from the internet that Barack was already speaking, then left.

And now, I see the above picture that shows plenty of empty seats in the upper level.

Lets hope that the local team learns from this, and makes some changes next time.

Sorry you didn't get in. As someone who had come last night to the volunteer training, I knew that you would have to get there early to get in. I showed up at 7:00am and there were already 300 volunteers lined up just to help out, and that doesn't count those who showed up at 4am just to get in.

None of this is to diminish your frustration, which is totally valid. However, to everyone reading, please get to future events at least 3 hours before...it was totally worth it to watch our guy deliver his message. The campaign staff said that he routinely sells out large arenas, and that it's not unusual for thousands of people to get shut out due to the fire marshal closing the doors.

I hope you get to see Barack if he comes back to Dallas.

I've seen Obama twice now and have had to arrive over an hour in advance. Lots of folks haven't gotten in and have ended up in the overflow crowd.

I also think that the building has a total number of people allowed in and even though there were seats, there were huge crowds on the ground that completed the number allowed. Unfortunately, they have to have room at the top for security reasons and when I saw him outside there were snipers with binoculars everywhere. He has to worry about security as well.

yeah, the fire code for some arenas doesn't expect the arena to be filled with standing audiences on the floor -- but rather basketball players running around or seated audiences for a concert.

that's why sometimes these arenas look a little empty at the top but are considered to be "full".

Exactly. It's the sheer number of warm bodies in the arena, not how many seats are left. 90 minutes seems like a long time, but trust me, there were tons of people left out when I went to see him in Madison. I had to get there three hours early to get a good spot on the floor. And different buildings have different fire codes depending on the normal use of the building (an arena vs a convention center, for instance).

Sorry to hear that you did not get in... I've volunteered at a couple of Obama rallys in the St Louis area & they ALWAYS suggest that you be there 1-2 hrs BEFORE the gates open in order to be sure you get in.

The crowd sizes just keep getting bigger & bigger but they DO have to limit crowd size according to city bldg/fire codes & seating/standing were security is #1 priority.

The last St Louis rally ... over 20,000 attended (everyone was able to get in)... it was held at the Edward Jones dome were our NFL Football team ..the Rams play (it seats over 60,000 - but they usually have to block-out all the mid & upper level seats for security reasons)

Are we doing all we can to keep our guy safe?

At every rally, tens of thousands of people screaming and shouting to touch him and HUG him.

It's the "hugs" that concern me!

As one who is overly concerned about the safety of our guy, I hate to see people "HUG" him. Why is this necessary? Why does the Secret Service allow people to "wrap their arms around him?" Is he ignoring the Secret Service regarding his safety?

Before you think I'm overreacting here, just remember that Martin Luther King was stabbed by a "woman" at one of his book signings in Harlem, NY, on Sept. 20, 1958. An event as harmless as a book signing!

Should we stop people from hugging our candidate?
Isn't shaking his hand enough? I understand that there are risks involved for any presidential candidate. I'm not talking about these inherent risks. I'm simply asking "Why the hugs?" Why is a handshake enough??

Am I overly concerned about nothing? What do you think?

It's up to the candidate on whether he takes their recommendation. I think the contact with the public is one of the things that defines Barack at these rallies. You can see that there is a grip of agents around him as he moves through the crowd.

I'm guessing the Secret Service know what to/not allow. You're bringing up a good point, which you shouldn't hesitate to not, but I would think this is under control. Perhaps those who attend these events are screened somehow before they enter. Or perhaps there's protection we don't know about.

Having been a volunteer at an event for Obama, I can personally say that I too before hand had the same concerns as you.
However, the staff and the Secret Service work together to alleviate a great deal of the risk without causing attendees to feel too much security and all to be free to be themselves, including Barack.

I am sure he loves the hugs and I am equally sure, that as intelligent as he is he knows full well the risks that he takes for getting those hugs.

Always remember what he says about fear. Do not allow fear to hold you back.

Don't think anybody is feeling alienated. We are elated. The Obama campaign does not alienate. That's HRC's job. In fact, the # of discrete donors is indicative of the fact that this campaign is inclusive.

I was a Hillary supporter, and actually, if she had taken a different tack with her campaign it could have made a difference, or she could have kept her chances for another run or some cabinet post intact. We got two negative mailers the same day at my house, as well as two (of the same) robocall. We also received robocalls from Barack and Michelle that sounded much more personalized to our state and the day (Barack's said tomorrow, Michelle's said today). I also got two messages on my voicemail reminding me to vote. All in all, I was much more impressed with our campaigning.

I was disappointed yesterday; my city broke for Clinton in all but one district. It was released today that that district was mine. :) Oh well, I sort of expected it. I'm so proud of what everyone here did for the Wisconsin campaign - you helped us win this for sure!

The destructive tactics of the Hillary campaign have backfired in countless ways. At this point, Hillary has alienated so many people that she now trails McCain by 12% in a head-to-head match-up! She has now lost so many votes that she is no longer electable.

More and more Democrats are realizing that Hillary is no longer electable and they are moving over to Barack even though they like Hillary's programs. Those programs are useless if the nominee cannot get elected president.

The Hillary campaign completely misread the mood of the electorate. We made it clear that we want a different kind of politics. The least she could have done was to stop using blatantly Rovian tactics in the Democratic primary campaign! Instead, she rubbed our faces in her Rovian tactics. She has turned herself into the anti-change candidate. The anti-change candidate is not going to become president in the year 2008. Hillary has dug her own grave.

Beyond that, the quote which McCain was referencing was, of course, taken out of context.

I believe the quote from Senator Obama related to a hypothetical scenario in which there was a confirmed, present threat against the US from Pakistan by a terrorist/foreign entity -- he was asked whether and what action he would take. Given those hypothetical circumstances, I would hope our Commander-in-Chief would do what was necessary to secure our national security.

Now, that McCain was unable to distinguish between a statement made in response to a counterfactual and a policy position based in reality is somewhat disturbing. Perhaps his reality testing is a bit compromised.

Tonight on CNN he was discussing the role of the super delegates and whether or not the democratic nominee will be decided before the convention. And Lou Dobbs said in a conversation with Bill Schneider that he did not feel that the super delegates should back the candidate with the most votes...That they SHOULD have some sort of brokered convention and that democracy was not just who had the most votes.

This is a complete reversal from what Dobbs was saying only a week ago before Barack won in Wisconsin and Hawaii. This clearly means that he is not at all happy about Barack being the front runner for the nomination at this time.

I was very happy with Schneider though. Dobbs tried to get him to agree with his stance...And Schneider looked aghast and confused at what Dobbs was saying.

I absolutely agree. Attacks will be nastier and MSM will be exceptionally more biased in favor of both McCain and HRC while contiuing to portray him in a negative light.

Surely people must have noticed that even after 10 consecutive "LARGE" margin wins in both Caucuses and Primaries, that the media pundits are focused on what HRC can do to stay competitive. Are you kidding me??? Who loses 10 in a row against one opponent and is still considered "competitive". They (MSM) are just eager to announce an HRC comeback with just "1" win in Texas or Ohio.

Anyway, what is most distressing to me is that MSM is feeding the separatist, partisan, hate-mongering machine at the expense of the one person who has the guts and courage to stand up against it.

Therefore, we must do all that we can to keep Sen Obama at the forefront of this campaign - all the way to the White House. There is this talk about this next round of primaries being HRC's "Last Stand" or "Firewall", well I submit to you that this entire Presidential campaign is a "Last Stand" for our country to show the world that we have overcome our differences and can be united. If we fail, I'm afraid we will lost our moment in time and will spiral further into the abyss from which we in this movement have been trying to escape.

He could point out that given the Keating issue, any additional scandals would be fair game for the next several months. He should call for a Senate ethic committee investigation on the lobbyist issue, and whether or not this woman received any advantages. The democratic base needs to see that Obama can not just take a punch, but deliver a punch. While you are at it, take a shot at HRC, as she has all kind of lobbyist money. A tough response might bring Edwards out of his shell.

Great Job Texas. I just gave an additional $100 under for my husband and will continue to give as I have. I believe I have made more than $400 in donations since Super Tuesday. That is not alot but I hope to max out at some point in time. Now it is time for me to get involved on the phones. That is my commitment to help move our candidate into the White House as POTUS.

I just want to say that this is my first write on the blogs but I am addicted to reading all of the comments each day. I believe one of the keys to Barack's "mystique" is that he has challenged us. And folks, it's been a long time since anyone stood up and asked America to roll up its sleeves and do some real work for the betterment of the country. And I think America has been thirsting for that call. Deep in our hearts, many of us have felt lazy. We knew something needed to be done, but we didn't have a goal to focus on. Some of us worked for charity, trying to fill that need. Others, like myself, fell into apathy, and a quiet sense of despair.

Barack Obama has issued a call to arms. He wants to put America to work in more ways than one. His voice has been like the sound of the drum corps rousing the troops to battle. You can't help but feel your heart stir.

He is feeding a hole in the American heart. He's giving Chris Matthews cold chills, for pete's sake.

I fear that the Republican party has nothing to offer America except a tired sense of security in the sticking with the devil they know. He may scare conservatives with tales of how liberal Obama is...but that's to be expected. He may scare up some support using the dark cloud of more possible wars...he may scare some by waving the "he's gonna raise taxes" flag. But I honestly believe that his cries will ring hollow, because Americans know in their hearts, in their very cells, that they come from a deep history of fearless people.

Just want remind you all that now, more than ever, we need to pay attention to the who's who around here. Over the past couple of days, I've seen many folks around here without profiles and without any substantial posting activity trying to pass as Obama supporters while spreading false information, trying to create confusion, raising all kinds of "concerns," etc. I know that many of you have seen them, too.

Realize that now that Obama has made inroads with all of HRC's strong demographic groups and their campaign has slim chances of rebounding from that, one tactic left at their disposal is to come here and try to spread dissent amongst us in an attempt to undermine this campaign and this movement.

So, please, please remain cognizant of that when reading and replying to unknowns here. If you read something screwy, check profiles, personal blog entries, etc.

The HRC campaign is going down. We can expect more obvious and not-so-obvious trolling here as a direct result of that.

No prob, JD. I'm sure we do have an influx of Hopemongers, and that's great! I've just seen a lot of sketchy stuff lately.

A little, not-so-obvious example of trolling-- many folks were looking for Lulu to post yesterday . . . wanting to share in the excitement of Barack's victories with her, and when someone (it was Cat?!) asked about where Lulu was, another person who had been posting many, many comments on the thread answered back that, "Lulu said she wouldn't be around for a while because she is sick and tired of the negativity on these blogs lately"--and blah, blah, blah. Those of us who KNOW of Lulu know that is simply not true, and that she has "disappeared" because she hopped a plane to Ohio to do some serious campaigning for Barack there.

I'm not trying to arouse paranoia--just trying to remind us all that the opposing campaign has already shown that it is willing to do anything it can to undermine us.

I've noticed the subtle slants and total infatuation with troll comments, why respond? Crazy.

In Cat's defense, Lulu did have a bad blogging day (I think it was on Sunday) and wrote a post titled "Lulu has left the building" in the text she talked about feeling overwhelmed and at times grief about the blog, how things we going here. It was in response to a new blogger that said she felt the blog was full of cliques and exclusive. When Lulu asked her what she meant, she specifically had written to Lulu and Lulu didn't reply.

I posted several blogs to Lulu, as did others of her value and positive impact here and she was on later blogs after that.

I think the world of Michelle Obama! She is an amazing woman, more descriptive than words. Her life story and passion is one I wholly identify with.

Its painful to see the "typical" historical attacks on a woman of such high class, intelligence and caliber.

While I appreciate her taking the "higher road" for an event shouldn't even justify a response, the world knows her intentions are pure, her heart is solid and she presents the salt of the earth.

Both her an Obama take the approach that our success is their success and our failure is their failure. Any attack against them, I take personal. Especially weak word smithing attempts from chemically saturated, narrow minded...

I live in Austin, TX and am proud to say that I voted for Barack in early voting today. I've never seen so many people involved in early voting. Yesterday, over 8,000 people voted in Travis County alone in the first day of early voting. (To give you some perspective, in the last election 16,000 people voted over the course of the two weeks of early voting.)

Please work on calling Texas NOW. Many people aren't waiting until March 4 to vote. Early voting is so much easier. Also, remind them that they need to have their voter registration card stamped or get one of the cards signed by the county clerk in order to attend their caucus or "precint convention." One of my friends answered "no" when asked if he wanted to attend the precinct convention because he didn't know what that was. Now he doesn't have the admission card to get in.

We Must be ready for the Debates.

Wrong perception that HRC is better in Debates. Not true.

Barack Obama has actually done better in some of the debates. We must nail the two upcoming debates. What we must do.

1.Review the video of the last debate. Fine tune the low points.

2.Barack must be Presidential. Look straight into the camera. Do not be tentative. No em’s whatsoever. I had a lot of difficulty making some undecided’s vote for Obama because after some of those debates they said Barack did not come across as confident and was not sure what he was saying.
Be the decent guy you are; pull out a sit for HRC and be cordial but remember this is a war. In the last debate that made a lot of impression on the voters.

3.Be firm, decisive and clear. Always reframe the questions and answer them by itemizing, i.e., saying what you would do point by point like # 1. # 2. #3. and finally…..

Never say “I agree with Hillary”. In debates that is a no, no. You get negative points for that. Even if you agree simply state your point otherwise you come across as not having ideas and just copying more so with the allegations of plagiarism and copying policies, this is important.

4.There will be a lot of attacks. Do not let HRC get under your skin. Answer any attack firmly with FACTS

5.Be prepared for these questions:
a.Plagiarism
b.Mitchelle saying “I am proud of my country"
c.Campaign finance

Answer these very clearly and be sincere, so BE PREPARED. Find a way to inject the NY Times news of NY results irregularities of zero votes recorded for you and the NM official/supporter of HRC carrying ballot boxes home, etc into the discuss.

6.Shred into pieces this HRC “35yrs of experience talk”. Ask her to explain to the
American people how she has acquired 35yrs of experience. TEAR THIS NONSENSE INTO PIECES.

7.Throw out the NUMBERS. When you explain your policies spit out the numbers
and show mastery and perfect command of the FACTS like your VICTORY speech yesterday.

8.Be yourself and be the GREAT guy you are as the next 44th POTUS.

9.We the People of the United States of America are with you, Mr. President. AMEN!!!

I was there today and it was incredible. I've read his books, savored his speeches, burned up the phone lines for this man and finally seeing him in person was great.
I'm not sure how someone can have the flu and still deliver such a powerful message.
The diversity of the crowd was one of the most beautiful things you could imagine. Maybe not quite the crowd you see at McCain rallies? I was so happy to be among like-minded people of every race and education level and every age.....wow.

“Ready to Believe” answers all the tired old charges being made by the Clinton camp and, increasingly, by the McCain camp. And it’s a great song...

By now, we've all heard "Yes We Can" which came out before the February 5 primaries.

What you probably didn't know is that there was another song, literally being mixed in Hollywood on the same day that song was released and that it, too, was called "Yes We Can."

The song was re-titled, "Ready to Believe" to avoid confusion and is available to keep all our great Obama campaign workers inspired and motivated. This one is a spirited rock anthem with lyrics by screenwriters who were on strike at the time (Jackie & Bryce Zabel) and music composed and performed by a powerful LA alt.rocker (Cherish Alexander).

Today has been a party! From the train ride into downtown Dallas (full of Obama t-shirts), the 2+ hours waiting in lines that wrapped around the block (and snaked through the arena parking lot), to the introduction by Emmitt Smith (who knew he could not only play football and dance, he's an awesome speaker, too!) - what an awesome, awesome day!

Hope does feed and clothe. I am a mother of 3 with a law degree and I have earned about $3,000.00 a year (yes that's right) working as a part-time poverty lawyer. If it were not for my hope in a better world, I wouldn't represent clients for no-payment. I wouldn't represent a 14 year old boy who was placed in DHS custody by his parents because he was too much to handle, and show up at court to contest his foster placement. I wouldn't persist to find him a civil rights lawyer to protect his interest after he was abused by foster parents. I would take 5 calls a week discussing good people's legal problems and help them work through the legal barriers that effect the lives.

My ultimate hope is in my trust in God, and Obama is just leading a path for individual voices and values to have more power than lobbyists and special interests. So, I've not been drinking kool-aid. Because of Hope, I can battle each day the darkness and oppression that most just observe. I can bag up my gently used clothes and take them to my church to be donated. I can drive to a Christian legal-aid meeting to help those in poverty. Hope is the fuel for me to feed, clothe, and advocate for others.

Oh yes...hope does feed and clothe people...it's a DEEP concept...often lost on those who aren't schooled in the art of poetry..LOVED that comment by one of Barack's endorsers..said something like "Hillary is like an essay and Barack is like a poem!!"

I understand though..hope can be a scary emotion...nothing to fear McCain supporter...Barack will be a great President and our country will be a better place to live by the end of 2016! We have primaries/caucuses and a debate within the next week: on Feb 19 and 21. My family plans to have a day of prayer for Barack on the day of each primary/caucus/debate and on the day before. Please join us in 4 days of prayer for Barack on Mon, Feb 18 through Thur, Feb 21. Please structure the prayer according to your preference (individual prayer, group prayer, prayer 2 times a day, prayer 3 times a day, etc).

Someone said in an email recently that Hillary has some serious prayer warriors in her camp. Apparently, they prayed for Hillary all day on the Tuesday of the New Hampshire primary and also the night before. It may be their prayers that caused her unexpected win in New Hampshire. As the apostle Paul wrote, “For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but … against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms” (Ephesians 6:12).

Let us cast aside doubts and remember the words of Jesus: “Whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours” (Mark 11:24). We have to believe that God will grant our requests, not only that He is able to grant them.

To echo someone’s comments previously, let us also pray for Hillary Clinton - that she will re-assess the choices she has made and that she will allow God to make her the woman He wants her to be. I’m confident that God will cause her to lose this nomination, not just for America’s sake but for Hillary’s own sake - a severe jolt to push her to look at herself in the mirror and change course. I will be posting reminders about the days of prayer.

Obama wins Democrats Abroad primary

Barack Obama won the Democrats Abroad global primary in results announced Thursday, giving him 11 straight victories in the race for the Democratic presidential nomination.

The Illinois senator won the primary in which Democrats living in other countries voted by Internet, mail and in person, according to results released by the Democrats Abroad, an organization sanctioned by the national party.

Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton has not won a nominating contest since Super Tuesday, more than two weeks ago.

More than 20,000 U.S. citizens living abroad voted in the primary, which ran from Feb. 5 to Feb. 12. Obama won about 65 percent of the vote, according to the results released Thursday.

Voters living in 164 countries cast votes online, while expatriates voted in person in more than 30 countries, at hotels in Australia and Costa Rica, at a pub in Ireland and at a Starbucks in Thailand. The results took about a week to tabulate as local committees around the globe gathered ballots.

"This really gives Americans an opportunity to participate," said Christine Schon Marques, the international chair of Democrats Abroad.

Italian Sports Minister Giovanna Melandri, who has dual citizenship, cast a vote for Obama in Rome.

"It wasn't an easy choice for me. I would still love seeing a ticket with Obama and Hillary (Clinton)," Melandri told The Associated Press in a telephone interview. "A drive for change is what is needed in the U.S. and I think that Obama has that drive."

There is no comparable primary among Republicans, though the GOP has several contests this weekend in U.S. territories, including party caucuses in Puerto Rico Sunday.

The Democrats Abroad controls seven pledged delegates at the party's national convention this summer. However, the group's system of dividing the delegates is unique, and could create an anomaly in which Obama and Clinton end up with fractions of delegates.

The party will send 14 pledged delegates to the convention, each with a half vote. The primary was used to determine nine people, or the equivalent of 4.5 delegates. Obama won 2.5 and Clinton won two, according to Schon Marques.

The Democrats Abroad will hold a global convention in Vancouver, Canada, in April to select the other five people who will attend the convention. They will represent the remaining 2.5 votes.
