Oh my - I really need some positive contact for a little while - I just spent the worst 3 HOURS of my life on a completely anti-Obama blog and I'm emotionally drained.

They are so resentful and mad at Obama supports - which translates to Obama - because of the nastiness they've experienced.

I've been told that there were endless insults, etc from us - and some of them are complete hard-core, voting republican or staying home - NEVER gonna vote Obama people and I've never seen anything like it - except maybe at Hillary44 and Hillarys site.

All I know is that bloggers have contributed exponentially to the divide between us and it is so sad.

I stuck just to the facts - but they are completely disallusioned and have these ideas in their heads about what the truth is and if I got ONE person to actually check out this site and actually look at the Blueprint I'd be astonished.

Maybe I did cuz a few did back off me after a bit and/or softened their tones after they got done insulting me.......

All I know is that I give all of you who do the phone calls kudos (I'm not a phone person) - but truly the damage done in the online communities is signficant to say the least and is just emotionally draining. A lot of bloggers are having a really hard time considering forgiveness but I've got to believe that if we take the time to try to repair the damage we can salvage something - I hope so at least.

actually i've been on here everyday for quite a while - I just usually try to limit my comments -

I know that the people they speak of on the anti-obama sites aren't from here but they're from somewhere and man are they wreaking havoc!

Its so frustrating to have them telling me what they have been conditioned to believe as the truth when it's not and to be treated so hostily due to the actions of these so-called obama support bloggers - I find it hard to believe that anyone who supports Obama could possibly do that and I have my own theories about what's happened but still, it's just draining to fight it off.....I should've left earlier!

Oh well, I love this one - it's home! =)

I totally understand what you're talking about. I know it's just awful to go to the anti-Obama sites, where people are just all stirred up about things. I tend to stay away from those sites and comment boards, because they are so negative.

I do feel that there is alot of work to be done to begin the healing. I think why they say that Obama supporters are negative, is because the ones that do speak out in those sites and elsewhere, tend to be abrasive and so protective of Obama, due to the mud-slinging that HRC initiated.

It's a tough one all around. Many deep emotions and reactions have been stirred up throughout this campaign. It probably stems from so many years of negative government, then craving change and having to deal with negative campaigning!

But we DO all need to do whatever we can to rally in the supporters and try and work on the healing. Even though many supporters, from both sides are still angry, because of the tight race and the way the blog wars have gone on and on, there is something much more important and bigger than all of this: A united Democratic Party and unity among supporters.

So now, it is time for all of us to put aside our anger and frustrations, and put that into supporting our soon to be Democratic nominee, Barack Obama, and getting him into office.

If ALL of us Obama supporters do our part, many of the HRC supporters will come around as well. We will just have to show the way and open those doors, as Barack does. He STANDS for unity. But as I've said, there is a much BIGGER cause than all of the pettiness and politics that we must now put behind us, in order to make this place a better country for EVERYONE.

Stay strong and motivated. Our time is finally almost here, and we will all be as one. We'll have to do some work to make that happen, and take the high road. We can do it. YES WE CAN!

These people need to start realizing that they are voting for the candidate not the supporters. I think it's ridiculous that people base their decisions on what supporters say. There isn't a pro-Obama blog on the internet, IMO, that is highly negative. There's a lot of sarcastic humor and that but it's never overly negative. I never go to pro-Hillary blogs or etc. I listen to Hillary and her words. I don't pay attention to supporters. Why would I support Barack if I didn't listen to him. I mean, come on!

To The Editor:
As a 78 year old American of African descent, I feel compelled to respond to all this "much ado about nothing" when it comes to the
statement that Michelle Obama made about the fact that this is the first time in her adult life that she has been proud to be an American.

The country needs to hear this from the Black perspective.

Long before I was born, my grandfather Joseph Burleson, owned a considerable amount of land in oil rich Texas. Because during that era, Blacks could not vote, nor could they contest anything in the courts of the United States, my grandfather's land was STOLEN by
his White neighbor.
My grandfather, who was literate ! ! a nd b etter educated than my grandmother, drove to town. Seeing my grandfather leave, the covetous neighbor asked my grandmother to show him the deed to the property. He snatched it. She could not insist that he give it
back, nor could she have reported this THEFT to the sheriff because of the fact that Blacks had no rights in the 1800's. The prevailing law at that time was he who held the deed owned the land. Do you think that is something that I am PROUD OF? Right now I should be living off the oil and gas royalties.

In 1934 when my dad drove us to Texas to meet his family, when he stopped to purchase gasoline, his daughters and wife were not
allowed to use the washroom. As a man it was easier for him to relieve himself in the bushes, but not for the females. We were, however, reduced to having to go in the bushes, also. Do you think I am PROUD OF THAT?

In 1938 when my old est si ! ! ster went to enroll in Hyde Park High School, she was told by the counselor that she did not want to take college preparatory courses, she wanted to study domestic science. Do you think I'm PROUD OF THAT? Of course, when Beatrice Lillian Hurley-Burleson went to school the next day, that was the last time anyone thought that the Burleson girls wanted to study domestic science.

When in 1943 my parents attempted to buy the 2 flat at 5338 South Kenwood, where we had lived since 1933, in Hyde Park, Chicago, IL we were told that we could not buy it because there was a restrictive covenant that said that the property was never to be sold to "Negroes." Do you think I am PROUD OF THAT?

In 1950 when I graduated from college, I was unable to get a job because I was c onsi! ! dered "overqualified." the code word for they
would not hire me because of my race. All of the want ads called for Japanese Americans or Neisis (the word given to Japanese
Americans at that time). Do you think that was something that I should have been PROUD OF?

I understood that America was trying to make up for the interring of innocent and patriotic Americans who were our enemy by
association.

My cousin's barbershop was bombed in Mississippi in the 50's because he was encouraging Black people to register to vote. His wife who had earned a Masters Degree from Northwestern University lost her position as the principal of the local school because of the
voter registration activities . &nbs p;Is tha! ! t som ething I should be PROUD OF?

Now we get to Rev. Jeremiah Wright, the pastor of the Obama family. Rev. Wright like so many religious zealots overstates many things, that many of his members do not agree with. To suggest that Senator Obama should leave the church of his choice is not only a double standard, but it is absurd. Would any of the talking heads who are so alarmed by Rev. Wright's thoughts and speeches suggest that Catholics should abandon their faith or denounce and reject the Pope because so many priests have molested children. These children were exploited and taken advantage of and they had no choice to even know they could resist, reject and denounce. To me the situations are parallel, except for the fact that the priests behavior is a physical violation of the innocence of children who are marred for life; and the priests behavior is a crime.

Rev. Wright's speeches are just words, that one can listen to or not, the mem bers h ave a choice.! ! &nbs p;Should Governor Romney denounce
and reject the Mormon Church because some of their members practice polygamy?

As Senator Obama has previously stated, we have entered the silly season. Barack Obama is an adult, and most importantly, he is an
exceptionally intelligent adult. Like most of us adults, fortunately, we do not accept all we hear or see. If we did, the world would be more amoral, debased and perverted than the world of today is.

I see all these "so called" pondering's an attempt to marginalize the candidacy of Senator Barack Obama. I cannot truly call this
racism because some ignorant Blacks have also spoken disparagingly about him. I accept this as the darker side of mankind who because of their own inadequacies, they project their deficiencies on others. Barack Obama is a very rare individual,
the likes of whom the world seldom sees. Like most geniuses, they are often misunderstood. They a re obj ects of envy and jeal! ! ousy.
They are suspect because they soar above the average man who does not have the intellectual ability to understand the greatness of special people. They are also targets to be pulled down to the level of the mediocre who cannot stand to see an individual with deep convictions and high standards.

We have not seen a phenomena like Barack Obama in many years and many generations. Like Ghandi, like Jesus, like Einstein, like Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., like Mother Theresa, genetically, intellectually and spiritually, these people offer the world so much, but they are often maligned and misunderstood.

Barack Obama is a Christian in the true sense of the word. A true Christian loves his fellow man unconditionally. A true Christian
wants the best and tries to bring out the best in his fellow man. A true Christian wants to unite and bring the world together in peace
and harmony. This is what Senator Obama stands for; but, unfortu nately , he has had to get off po! ! int t o answer these false charges, innuendoes, and just plain lies.

We are in the presence of an angel unaware in Senator Barack Obama; and this country needs him, more than he needs us. He is the only person at this time in history who can restore respect for America with the worlds' people. Because of his family background, the
influence of his beloved mother who instilled great values in him, the influence of his absent father who vicariously inspired a son to go to Harvard as the father had done, the influence of a minister who brought him to an understanding of the value and meaning of Christianity, the influence of a brilliant Harvard educated wife who inspires him and keeps him grounded; he is the epitome of a citizen of the world. He is of the world because the world is in him; and this is what America needs to bring us out of the abyss to which we have sunk in the eyes of the world.

Like, Michelle Obama, after living in this country all of my 78 years, loving my country and not understanding why my country has
not loved me, I now for the first time in my adult life feel PROUD OF MY COUNTRY because I sense a maturing, a recognition of talent and character and not color, and a field of candidates aspiring to lead this nation coming from very diverse backgrounds of gender, religious beliefs, national origin, ethnicity, age and experiences. This to me is the HOPE that America is coming into her own and will begin to CHANGE and will embrace the philosophy upon which this country was founded.

Now since I've posted the letter in it's complete, I want to remind each of you that read the letter to read it with understanding. I am a 48 year old AA Female U.S.Army Veteran and when I raised my hand to protect the Country in which I love, I did so not swearing to protect only those that looked like me. I raised my hand to protect my Country as a whole. Even then I was proud to serve my country. Even with the love of my country there are ills within this great Country that needs to be healed. But now I am Proud of my Country and the progress it is making, but we must all do our part to repair the broken bridge of humanity.We must work while the sun is up, because when dark falls no man can see. This is our time in history to let our light shine so that the whole world can see who we are and what we are. I love each of you and may your night be filled with LOVE, PEACE, AND GRACE.

Dearest Robby,
Thank you so much for opening up to your Obama Family and sharing your family's story. I read your letter from the first word to the last and I understand every word deeply. It also moved me and made me feel so close to you. Every sentence resonated within me, because it is so heartfelt and wisely communicated without anger, just full of understanding for the human condition and so full of hope. I am a 71 years old jewish grandmother. I have not served this country like you did (thank you very much), but had to live without a father because the fashists in Rome/Italy killed him while he was trying to save his wife and 3 little children from being deported to the german extermination camps. Like you, I am proud to say that life has taught me to recognize the beauty of a soul when I see it. People that don't see that, just cannot understand. They don't see the difference between the good and the bad, and they fight the good. But Barack and Michelle Obama are "changing our mindsets" showing us now how to think and how to see and how to be and more and more people of all ages and circumstances have started to understand and to CHANGE. I am so grateful to have the opportunity to experience this transformation in the last part of my life.

This is a very telling story of what many of our fellow American's have had to face in their lifetimes. I for one am appalled that these things were ever allowed to happen. I am only 36 and obviously not old enough to have lived long enough to have to see things like this happen.

I am caucasion and was raised by an uneducated (but very intelligent) southern mother. We were taught to love all people regardless. So too were all of my cousins. While my grandparents do still occasionally say racial things one of my grandmother's dearest friends was a black American.

I believe that the majority of American's are teaching their children who in turn are teaching their children. We will overcome together. Racism still exists but I believe we are on the right path with a candidate like Barack Obama leading us.

In his speech on race he spoke to all Americans. He spoke to the anger of the white communities for being blamed for something they had no hand in. He spoke of the feelings of many younger white American's who have not found any specific benefit of being born white. Obama's speech was about coming together as one. Of opening the communications for all of us to begin to understand the perspective of all Americans. His speech on race was one of the first things that pulled me toward Obama long before I had made up my mind to vote for him.

I believe he is an intelligent man with love in his heart. Not love of only white, black, yellow, red, brown...et al... but love of ALL MANKIND.

I for one white American woman will be REALLY proud of my country once we all learn to incorporate love of all mankind as Barack Obama, our candidate, has asked us to do.

Hi. I live in CA. PLEASE, PLEASE, look at the big picture and do not do this. This is not how Barack made it this far. This is not new to the racial divide audience out there. Believe me, they already know. These are what are known as "race-baiting" fear the Black Man attacks. Barack has done the Christian thing, as his heart shows, he has, and will continue to walk in love. We, as his supporters must do the same. I don't think you should worry about this Shirley - if it did even make it into a story it would end up buried -

But to Robby - that is a wonderful letter and story to have told.

There is nothing wrong in anyone telling it like it is. The woman is 78 years old, has been around a LOT longer than I have - and probably longer than most of you all - and deserves to have her story heard.

Trying to keep stories out of the media because they contain issues that most people don't want to hear about - basically because they're not something to be proud of = isn't what America is supposed to be about.

Hi Tefta,

I posted the letter because it is a look into how the country is moving away from those things that divide and false barriers that have been placed. I don't understand how anyone would or could take the story of a 78 year old and consider it harmfull. The letter was sent to me through a co-worker in community organizing. This is a letter that should help everyone understand some people pain, but yet see how that pain has transformed into joy. The pain that others have indured should be reconized, and not denied. This is why we in the Obama Campaign have an awsome opportunity to build bridges, and repair others. I don't want anyone that read this letter to misunderstand the contents. One must read it in its complete for understanding.

Now I pray that each of you have a night full of Love, Grace, and Peace.

You know what's so sad? The fact that our American Government goes around telling countries how the should treat the people in their country equally, and have democracy. And yet we act like a bunch of Darn Fools voting according to race and insulting one another because of race. Now the UN is coming down here to investigate us and have it written that the American Gov. are a bunch of Hippocrates. WE has a country need to get are stuff together. As far as racism in the US Democratic Primary, while it is evident it isn't explicit. Obama is clearly African American to the average voter and sure certain campaign tactics success are improved by that.

What I think is very explicit, and very easy to prove is the Muslim issue. It is cleary documented, you can go back to statements made by Hillary's Iowa campaign chair, you can go back to her own campaign caught once in New Hampshire with the Muslim/Flag deal, and again before Ohio/Texas with the Turbin thing. I think this will be the focus of the UN investigation as this can be CLEARLY tied to Hillary, and my guess is we will find more links between the Muslim/Flag e-mails and Hillary's campaign.

It isn't Hillary's fault that some of her supporters may be voting based on race, or Obama's fault that some of his supporters might be voting based on gender. Neither candidate is responsible or has the authority to somehow screen their supporters and prevent those who support them on racial or gender lines from getting to the polls. Also if it becomes about race than it will open up a whole new argument where Obama's AA supporters will be accused of voting based on race and it will create more divisions.

My guess is what they will focus on, what is documented is the Muslim issue and Hillary will be forced to apologize. So many of her own staff members are disgusted at her campaign it wouldn't surprise me if a few disafected ones come forward with this evidence.

Obama will take the high road and not participate in this report, partly becomes the report will be put together ending on the 20th and by then he will have the pledged delegate lead and will be 24-48 hrs from having 2024 delegates and wouldn't want to create any issues. Also, he has consistently sidesteped addressing whether he lost votes because of race and will do so here.

Hillary is not going to come out clean and will probably have to make an apology. If they prove the Muslim issue she will not be able to EVER run for President again and her Senate career will likely be over. I just don't see how Obama can not comment if ALL THE EVIDENCE is put forward about the Muslim thing and not say he was offended.

Anyway, just wanted to say: Barack Obama has a truely unique background and experience in life; his brilliance is in his ability to BE ALL of that: AA and white, American and international,poor and rich, politician and a person of principles, liberal and person of faith, elite (by that i mean he is smarter than all of us)and simple (he had to be really naive to think he can be president, so the experts and powerful said). God bless his heart, he makes me so proud just to be one of his supporters. What I wanna say, is that he will be the president for ALL of us; not just for a certain group of people; his strength comes from the fact that each group or one of us , with all our differences, similarities, and diversity, identify with him. I have a lot of respect for the African American experience; i actually think of it as a holy experience. I do not believe that there is anything that could make up for the stolen lives and past. However, THIS IS THE TIME TO COME TOGETHER, LET GO OF THE DARK PAST AND START A NEW BRIGHT FUTURE. Yes we can.

As a parent of a 4 year old son, who receives Speech Therapy, it is my greatest hope that the health care system that Obama will bring, can make it possible for us to pay for his therapy through our insurance company. We were DENIED coverage for this, because it is considered a pre-existing condition. $300.00 per month for weekly sessions of therapy. Our premium has rose twice since January!!!!

Tony - My youngest son needed speech therapy and beginning at age 3, he was able to receive it through our public school system, at no cost to me. I don't know if you've already tried that route, but if not, it might be worth checking.

Obama needs to tell the Cuban American National Foundation (CANF) in Miami that it is time to change the failed US-Cuba policy, and that true democracy in Cuba would require the majority voice within Cuba, and not Miami. He needs to tell them that the criminal Cuban-American Adjustment Act which entices people suffocated by a the US Embargo to risk their lives, and often time the lives of their minor children, to reach our shores in the hopes of obtaining permanent residency 1 year and 1 day after arrival; only to return to Cuba to visit and assist their families financially. The time for US tax dollars squandered on the corrupt extreme right-wing of the Cuban American community in South Florida, SPONSORS OF TERRORISM is over.
In stark contrast to this Administration’s purported war on terror five Cuban political prisoners languish unjustly in US Federal Penitentiaries for fighting terrorism, because this President and his ill-advised predecessors have pandered to those elitist and corrupt right-wing fanatics. He needs to tell CANF that our dignified system of law dmands justice for these courageous men who risked everything dear to them to avert acts of terrorism financed from the US.

Good commment. If anything's gonna change Cuba, it's the people inside of that country and a direct and engaged diplomacy from the US, not the Cubans in Miami. Those people are blinded by the hate and grudge they hold against communism that will not change anything. If it could, it would have changed it already. Fidel outlasted at least 4 US Presidents. The same policy will fail again and again. Look at Vietnam today, growing economically only second to China, both communist. Human rights is of course an issue with China but at least they're going somewhere. In Vietnam today, you can practice any religion you'd like. You can join any organization you'd like. All they ask is that you not work against the government. You can make all the money you want as long as you don't subvert the government. Sure it's not a democracy bla bla bla but it's damn better than what the Cubans are going through right now. It's not a dictatorship like some US allies in the Middle East. Their Prime Minister gets elected by the Parliment made up of elected officials. Let's make lemonade from the lemons that's already there and not try to squeeze orange juice from the lemons. Every country and culture and reality is different. Why not just make it work at its best for the people given the circumstance. Let's have a policy that makes sense for the Cubans on the Island, not those on the Penninsula, some of whom just want to return to take power and control of the country.

Happy Weekends start with HARD WORK. I'm just reading about the extroridary results that are coming from the Nevada convention. Senator Obama picked up an extra pledged delegate because of all the hard work that goes into organizing delegates to attend a state convention. There is also another delegate. The stories are a little confusing, but today there was a swing of 3 net delegates in Nevada. GREAT!!!!

Work Saturday; Rest.....not yet...we still have calls to Kentucky and Oregon that are needed.

Guys, I really think once Obama gets the nomination if we fill these message boards with contradictions and such from McCain there will be no space left.

Yeah, we agree he is a really bad guy. Nothing surprises me about him anymore.

I think McCain's issue is that he will be dead by the time everything falls apart so he really does not care.

Just wait for the debates to start, Obama will tear McCain apart completely. McCain will constantly have to change his own positions and flip flop.

Sure the Republican attack machine will get the ultra-conservatives to hate Obama even more but ultimately he will win over the vast majority of the Independents, get the whole dem party and get a piece of the Republican Party.

My guess is McCain will screw up and pick the wrong VP. He is screwed whoever he picks. Because of his age, he needs someone people feel comfortable taking over as President at any point, or at least in 4 years if he doesn't seek a second term. He also is sort of screwed as the liberals think he is too much like Bush, the conservatives that he is two moderate and liberal. He also needs someone that has charisma because he doesn't and can add energy to the ticket. I think Huckabee is the only guy he could really pick. The media like him, he appeals to the evangelicals and the south, he is charismatic...he began liberal on some issue s like Iraq and reaching out to the minorities, and he has executive experience as he was a prior governor.

It was pretty amazing what he did as his campaign had a shoe string budget. The people that supported Huckabee are the type of Republicans that didn't like McCain. Also as Huckabee was a governor he had no tie to the failed Republican policies as he was not in the house/senate, never voted on Iraq, offers a clean slate. He will likely screw up, has had the nomination for 2 months still has 20 NAMES!! on his VP list. I doubt Obama has more than 10.

Dave ~

Huckabee won't be McCain's VP. He had alot of trouble with the ethics board in Arkansas and I've heard he isn't out of the woods entirely yet. He also made a major gaffe the other day at the NRA regarding Obama. He has since apologized but it was pretty bad...even for the republicans.

On a more personal level I hope he doesn't get the nod from McCain and the RNC because he talked about making changes to our Constitution based on the Bible. I say this not because I'm anti-religion but because our Constitution provides protections for us from falling into a system that our founding fathers gave their lives for. Also, Bush has based his policies on his religious ideology and you can see how well that's worked for us and the Iraqi's.

So, I think that Romney would be a better choice because he is strong on the economy but I don't think he'll be much help to McCain outside of thet. In the end it won't matter because Obama will win come November.

I support Sen. Obama and I voted earlier today- but I wanted to report that I have received three national phone bank phone calls from the Clinton campaign this weekend in addition to one or more daily e-mails. Haven't gotten any Obama phone calls or other get out the vote activity as yet. Perhaps because I live in North Irvington, which is still predominantly a black neighborhood, we are lower priority for campaign activity- but I have to tell you, the Clinton folks are deeply committed and persistent

our call lists don't even tell us where we are calling. Just the 1st name and phone number.
It is possible they are targeting certain areas, but thats beyond our control on this end.
Might be a reason Hillary is targeting your area.
Are they real callers or robocalls?

Automated calls are included as a violation in Oregon if one is on the do-not-call list. We got 3 robo calls from the Clinton campaign before they apparently got the message from our state AG.

When the primary was in CT, HRC seemed to be heavily targeting women voters (I got tons of calls and received mail from them, my boyfriend got zip). It could be that they are focusing their efforts differently.

What the issue is is that when numbers are assigned to one person, they are often not assigned to anyone else.

So what could have happened is someone had your name on a list, printed it out and never bothered to call you, or perhaps the number was busy and they marked not interested, who knows.

It could just be that you have a different number on your voter registration paperwork.

What surprises me is the 3 calls from the Clinton folk, I thought they didn't have enough people.

She is smart to put her volunteers in Oregon as the turnout is so much higher so there will be more popular votes.

My hope is we go from being up 20 which we are now to 27 and gain 400,000 popular votes.

Maxine, I've made calls before where people told me that they received 2-3 calls from HRC and these were black and white people. I don't think that black people are lower priority. We too are committed and that's what got us this far.

Have you tried helping out with calls or going to one of the campaign centers to help with calls?
