"On a conference call with reporters, Obama campaign manager David Plouffe appeared to take a swipe at Clinton supporters' planned protests outside Saturday's meeting.

"We are not encouraging our people to gather and protest on Saturday," he said. "With the click of a mouse it would be pretty easy for us in the Mid-Atlantic to gather thousands of people."

"We don’t think it’s a helpful dynamic to create chaos," he said, citing the interests of "party unity" as "we wind down the primary."

Plouffe also reiterated the Obama campign's willingness to accept a compromise that doesn't actually impede his path to the nomination.

"We're not going to support something that gives her too many delegates, but we're open to something where she's going to net delegates, and not an insignificant number," he said."

The DNC has already made their decision, and we will end up fine. They have been leaking info about their decision al week so that nobody will be surprised on the 31st. The actual meeting will just be a dog-and-pony show.

McCain thinks he knows all about how Iraq is doing by walking down the streets wearing kevlar, escorted by a platoon of marines, and with several gunships circling overhead to protect him. Yea, right. I guess I would feel like things are pretty safe and secure there too if everytime I went for a stroll this was what I got. I used to respect this guy but he is a certifiable moron, not the same guy I liked 8 years ago.

I came in second once, that is the closest I have ever been. I do not feel any guilt, except for neglecting my family this primary. I keep telling them it is for the good of many instead of the good of us few. I am not sure if they buy it or not,lol.

In this season of hope, my family has given up. The kids have learned to cook.

They make this mean broccli, cheese, raisin or crasin salad with their on secret sauce. I enjoy it immensely. and very healty for 12 year olds.

I love it! Mine are doing the same, and they're 3 and 5! This recipe sounds right up their alley, especially as the 5 year old has also decided to become a vegetarian (who eats meat once, or make that at least three times, a week).

I try to balance the family neglect with loads of family attention as well. Just got back from 2 hours at the library, where we got kids books about Barack and running for President. :-)

To be honest - I don't care if I'm first or not. I am and have been interested in what is beging discussed..... whether we get new supers, or other news. I have always thought I would love to know when a new blog is up so I don't have to go figure out where the new blog is. Its sometimes (for me anyway) really hard to tell.

I wish it was easier and I promise not to go for first - but it would be really nice to know.

DaVaughn’s school held a week long mocked election cycle for president. There was sixteen 5th grade candidates and of course DaVaughn played Barack Obama. They had to give speeches, encourage voter participation, and explain their policy positions. The kids in all classes K-5 had a choice to vote and it was the candidates job to get the word out.

DaVaughn won the (D) primary on May 20 but, what was interesting was the winner of the (R) primary, it was not Sen. McCain but the former governor of Arkansas Mike Huckabee. I think Keith (he played Sen McCain) might have over played the age issue. He walked around with a slight hunch and a wobble to his walk. :)

On the May 21 the primary winners had to pick a running mate for VP. DaVaughn picked his best friend, Jose, who was playing Governor Richardson and Mike (who played Huckabee) picked Jason who played the former governor of Massachusetts Mitt Romney. You have to remember these guys are only 11 years old and your best friend had a lot to do with who your running mate was.

The general election results was announced at his promotion ceremony to 6th grade on May 23rd. To not surprising he was elected president. It was a great learning experience for him, the 5th grade classes and his whole school.

So I am overseas in West Africa for a couple of weeks and haven't been on the blogs for a couple of days. What do I read about today? It seems that folks are now afraid that HRC is taking this nomination fight to the convention. I am reading the fearful and somewhat hilarious posts about this. Well, I say "Bring it On!" I would love to have her take this to the convention. She would single-handedly be blamed for destroying the Democratic party. This would be fitting legacy for the Clintons. Honestly folks, I may be alone in this but I DON'T CARE if the Clintonistas take it to the convention. The superdelegates would NEVER overturn the elected delegate majority. No way! They are not stupid. They won't blow up the party to feed the Clinton's egos. They fully know that youth and African Americans would leave the party for GOOD. Let me tell you something, those "white working class voters" have not been supporting the Democratic party for the past 40 years. WHO HAS? African Americans. The superdelegates are waiting until June 4th as I have said for weeks now to come out en masse for Sen. Obama. This is just true. Let the Clinton's take this to the convention, Sen. Obam is already working on the GE. I don't care about HRC and her "supporters" who appear more to me as hostage takers at this point.

Finally let me say this, I would rather LOSE with Obama than WIN with Clinton. People may find that crazy but I stand on principle with that. Go ahead HRC 'MAKE MY DAY!'

Actually, there are plenty of white working class Americans still in the Democratic Party -- I know, I am about to marry one whose entire family belongs to that group. Every member of his family belongs to a union, except for him. One of his grandfathers was a coal miner and the other was a rural farmer in Kansas. And guess what? Despite all of the nonsense from the media, each and every one of them are supporting Senator Obama and have already voted for him in this primary contest.

Don't believe everything you hear from the MSM! And try not to disrespect any voters.... we can leave that particular bizarre campaign strategy to Senator Obama's opponents!

I am really not trying to disrespect any particular group of voters. I AM though making the point that we as African Americans have had ENOUGH of being taken for granted by the Democratic party. It is ENOUGH. When I read about Sen. Obama supposed "White working class" problem and yet I see that the majority of the white working class has been voting Republican for the past 40 years, well.... you can imagine how ANNOYING that is. I can tell you this much, this African American is changing my party affiliation to Independent after November. No more being taken for granted by the Democratic party for me. So now, we are supposed to "court" white working class voters without acknowledging the STEADFAST support of those who have been traditionally loyal to this party. ENOUGH for me!

I think the MSM just wanted to make it seem like it was still a contest between Senator Clinton and Senator Obama when really this thing has been all but over since the end of February (and those amazing eleven blow-out victories in a row).

I don't believe the Democratic Party was spewing this nonsense--with the obvious exception of those aligned with Senator Clinton. But, I am an unaffiliated voter right now, myself, though I plan to switch to Democrat once Senator Obama is the official Democratic nominee.

Senator Clinton's and the media's nonsense made me and mine figments of our own imagination. This was nonsense pure and simple and most of us recognize it. Also, I think the Democratic Party, itself, is well aware of the solid support it has received from much of the African American Community and my guess is many were constantly trying to get Senator Clinton's campaign to tone down this terribly incendiary and disrespectful rhetoric.

These are just my thoughts.

By the way, I didn't take offense at your original comment -- I was just pointing out that the MSM is wrong about this one. Senator Obama is actually getting more support (in recent polling) from working class white America (40%) than Senator Kerry got in 2004 (38%).

But, you are absolutely correct, no Democratic candidate has won the so-called "white" vote since 1964. Personally, I hate all of this dissecting up voters, anyway.

I didn't think that you took offense to my post at all. I just wanted to underscore my DISGUST with the way that the media and HRC supporters are DISCOUNTING the support of African-Americans, young people in particular. The new meme from HRC seems to be "I can get those stupid Blacks and young people" but he can't get my precious "white women over 50 and working class whites." It pisses me off. You are right about the segmenting of groups though and I know that this is something that the Obama campaign is actively trying to fight against.

Anyway, thanks for sharing your thoughts with me and for engaging in a dialogue. This is what I most love about this blog.

Hi MK and Kim, I know this conversation happened a while back and the blog has moved on, just want to affirm that I share the outrage at how H** has treated AAs and I think it would actually be an EXCELLENT development if a meaningful number of AAs switched from Democrat to Independent. For quite a while the D party has taken AAs MUCH TOO MUCH for granted and one important way to demonstrate political power is to exercise choice, and to show that people the Party disrespects will NOT stay with it.

Both sides would more actively attend to AA concerns if more AAs were Independents, I suspect.

I am not a teacher, but my sister is. She teaches 3rd grade, with a focus on mathematics. And when she read just part of Senator Obama's educational plan she was on board with this campaign. Before she read the plan, she asked me what I thought about Mayor Guiliani (this seems like so long ago and yet it is only a few months!)

I know another woman (also a teacher, 4th grade) who cannot say enough positive words about Senator Obama's plan. I may not entirely understand the plan, myself, but I know when to listen to those who do.

But I don't need to simply rely on anecdotal information to prove my point, the campaign financing records to date also prove this point objectively:

Senator Obama has received more donations from classroom teachers than any other candidate:

He has received $7,080,084 and none of this money came from any educational PAC or the teacher's union. It is all from individual donors working in education.

Hi Kim, I was a teacher for many years and I agree with you that Barack has the support of the majority of educators.

One of the messages I hope we can emphasize in the general election is the relevance and importance of Sen Obama's work as an Illinois State Senator. On so many issues, especially education, his experience on the state level makes him understand how federal laws and funding can impact the states. When no child left behind created additional mandates with which the states must comply, but left the funding behind it caused tremendous strain on local school departments.

Also, his experience in the Illinois state legislature makes him sensitive to the need for states to have the leeway they need to address issues differently depending on the particular needs in that state. This is a philosophy that appeals to many Independents and Republicans.

I have to add to this that I have a friend in PA who was for Hillary, who was a former school teacher. When I asked her what HRC's plans were for education, she couldn't answer me. So, she went and looked them up online, and then looked at Barack's online. She decided then and there to vote for Obama. :)

I taught in NY for years. Hillary depends on the least -informed voters for her support. The people who have the least information, who read the least, who are the least educated are the people who are voting for McCain and Clinton. This is an election about information. When the voters begin to read and evaluate articles, books, commentary, speeches, policy, biography, interviews ....after some period of time, they usually vote for Obama. As a teacher,
we want our students to be informed voters.

As a teacher I'm all about Obama's plan and his thoughts on education. He is the only candidate that I've heard since I started teaching and having my babies how important it is for families to turn off the tv and video games and parents sit down to read to/with their children. YES! He understands and has said that parents are their child's first and most important teacher and also recognizes how important it is for children to have a well-rounded education which means "schools need to be teaching and engaging children in the arts".

These two understandings say volumes for a child's development and growth. He gets it...I also love it when he talks about how critical early childhood (0-3 years) is in a child's development. This part is so crucial to our society - when we have babies having babies, knowledge is power. Remember his statement:
WE ARE OUR BROTHER and SISTER'S KEEPER. That is so true. It is our responsibility to speak for the younger generation.

I'm concerned that they have "beaten" him into submission. I couldn't wait to see his show last night, yet, during the whole program, he did not mention HRC but once when he referred to the Liz Trotter incident. There was no mention of Bill Clinton and his parnoid cover-up comments. His whole show was basically about McCain. I fear he has been "talked" to and maybe he opted to focus on McCain as opposed to alter his opinions about HRC. I fear he is being suppressed in the name of the corporate agenda.

Any thoughts?
