am a Dutchman living in Spain but having lived in the US for a few years, a keen interest in this election and a big Obama supportor.
For years my American friends living here in Spain had to explain why the US did in all it's foreign interventions. With Barack as President every American will be so proud again to be a US citizen, it is true the world will look different on Americans just by getting rid of Bush.

To anyone who can influence the music selected at rallies:
Last night the media spent a bit of time focusing on the fact that at the dinner in VA where Barack spoke, they played the same song (I think it was "Signed, Sealed, Delivered") that Bush used during his campaign years ago! Yikes!

So, I have a suggestion for another theme song. There is a little-known soundtrack for the family movie "Spirit" that my 9-year old (who has been canvassing with me!) and I really like that is performed by Bryan Adams. The entire soundtrack is suberb, and the title song, "Here I Am," has great lyrics that suit what Obama and all of us in "Generation O" are all about:
"It's a new day, it's a new start, we're alive with the beating of young hearts. It's a new world, it's a new plan, I've be waiting for you. Here I am!" It's got great music and a wonderful beat. Check it out!

I have been so upset about just this point over the entirety of this campaign and no one talks about it. They say "Bush-Clinton", but don't really crystallize the fact that it has been 28 years of their "reign" and, if Hillary were to be elected President, this would be extended to 32-36 years. This is insanity; it is not "change" (she does not "embody" change, if only for this reason) and it is not good for America. My husband and I are 46 years old and we have never had a Presidential election in which the Bushes or the Clintons (or both) have not been on the ticket and, ultimately, in the White House because they subsequently won. Also, it seems to me that a spouse of a former President becoming President his or herself sets up the opportunity for a quasi-third term for the former President. This just isn't right, in my opinion.

I think that Edwards wanted to make a statement for his supporters. I think he feels very strongly that the people who supported him do not have a voice, and he wanted to be sure they were heard. Remember how often he said he would "fight" for change and his constituents.

He might have been planning to hold his delegates until the convention when he could make his strongest statement on their behalf and perhaps influence the party platform to include the issues he campaigned on. But at this time, the momentum has strongly shifted toward Obama, and if he waits any longer he may lose his chance to be heard. I doubt he wants a VP spot.

If Edwards endorses Clinton, there could be a good chance that he loses creditability with his supports; most of his supporters were the "anti-Clinton" crowd. As someone who has already pointed out, Edwards stated that she was the status quo. But I find it very interesting that he did not endorse sooner (before Super Tuesday). No one may feel the way I do, but I think that there was some underlying reason, for lack of a better word, I will say jealous.

Many of the southern states will come into play during the second half of this campaign. If all he does is endorse Obama, that would not be all that significant. However, if he endorses Obama and then works for the campaign in the southern states (including Texas) that could be huge.

As I mentioned below, I think his pulling out when he did helped us a lot. If he had endorsed early, his supporters might have viewed that as a betrayal of their cause and he would have lost influence with them.

I think edwards was waiting to see how the candidates would do after super tuesday and see if obama got momentum to win, seeing that he is, i beleive he is going to endorse him and you never know maybe he is hoping for a VP spot. edwards would be going against all his principles by supporting clinton, but would be showing his strengths by supporting obama. He has deligagtes and he will give obama a boost here and his supporters will also get on board.
he is a smart guy and i think it was good for his sake to wait and see how both would do as the race progressed.

I agree. I think Edwards and his wife are truly sincere about making this a better country for the poor and middle class. He knows that the Clintons are in bed with the lobbyists. I'm not sure that Sen. John Edwards is the "good" man that many say. I don't say that to be negative, but his litigations in the past are questionable. Some of the lawsuits that he won are the very reason why health insurance is as high as it is today. Also, I think that he was playing dirty politics... I think his attacks on Sen. Hillary Clinton was to motivate the woman popuation to for vote for her, to push Sen. Barack Obama out (assuming that he had the support of white men). With more male chauvinists than racists in the United States, he could definitely push the argument of electability.

An Ex-Hillary Supporter | Report to Admin

Gotta tell ya…..I was an ardent Hillary supporter for, I think, all of the right reasons….even wrote out a contribution check with a “,” in it! So you know I was committed.

But as of late, the spirit, the thoughtfulness, the forthrightness, the sheer guts, and grace under fire displayed by Senator Obama has made me re-think my position. And I don’t think I’m the only one. Quite frankly, I was disturbed by the events, comments, et al. leading up to the SC primaries. Like a lot of you, I didn’t want to turn tail in the middle of a fight. But the something in my soul rebelled and I began to back up to neutral. And yes, I do understand the “heat of the moment” taking over…and yes…I know that you can’t “control” all of the campaign operatives…..and yes…I further understand that as a Democrat we must push forward the most “winnable” candidate. But, I can’t ignore the growing feeling deep down in my core, that Mr. Obama’s “time has come.”

Whether he wins….which I would much prefer….or whether he stands up for the good fight and loses….I’m comfortable in my decision that I will stand with my candidate of choice….all for the right reasons…..his vision….his energy…..his positions on issues…..his backbone……his willingness to be inclusive…the challenge he brings to the nation….and his belief that he can win. I, for one, am confidently VOTING FOR A MUCH-NEEDED CHANGE!

The Honorable Douglas Wilder’s endorsement below makes me know that something special is happening in America….at least among thinking people. Mr. Obama is right for this time in history and I for one am ready to give him that opportunity.

We can only make this happen if you vote and keep voting. And….if you truly believe in your candidate…..spend some money to support the message.

Something I just thought of is a Monday endorsement by Edwards would mean that he would be free to work for the Obama team in several of the upcoming states in the south including Kentucky, Mississippi, and Texas.

Actually, his pulling out of the race when he did helped us a great deal in states like Virginia, Louisiana, Kansas, and Missouri where we might have otherwise split the vote with him.

I wouldn't be at all surprised to see him back on the campaign trail in support of Obama. I don't think he's through fighting.

The problem with no-brainers is that they often turn out made by people who act like they have no brain. There is no visible reason Edwards would endorse Clinton, but we don't know what deals are being offered.

Also remember that despite all the wins, the delegat coutn hasn't changed much (Barack has gained only ~40 this weekend). Things are not over by a long shot, and we have to work hard in any way we can to get people out to vote for Barack. Don't fall for the hype we are generating.

I live in Columbus OH and I have not heard that. I have gotten both my parents (who live in Cleveland) who are DIEHART Republicans to vote and believe in Obama. I also know a lot of Republicans in Ohio who will just vote for Obama in OH just because they hate the Clintons that much. I would not count Ohio out for Obama, he can win here.

If Obama sweeps February it will be a different game for OH and TX. Imagine the momentum, the enthusiasm, and the money that will be flowing to the Obama campaign. Obama will be seen as the winner for the Democrats, running more against John McCain than Hillary Clinton. Her campaign will be reeling and running out of both money and enthusiasm. By that time OH and TX will be fired up to support Sen. Obama and send him to the nomination with a full head of steam. There is nothing better than winning, nothing worse than losing when you are trying to win a party nomination.

Women have played a very pivotal role in this election and have been a major force in the Obama campaign. I think women in government will continue to shape the political landscape in a positive way.

Really disappointing about the Clinton News Network, they must need to keep the Establishment propped up I guess.

In the end, said caucus Chairman Franklin Bouchard, there were 55 Democrats for Obama and 54 for Clinton.

The vote means each camp will send seven delegates to the Maine Democratic Party convention in May.

Fairfield has 14 delegates to the convention.

I was out in the cold this morning getting people to sign a petition for one of Barack's supporting delegates here in Philadelphia, PA. It was incredibly easy to get 50 people sign up, Philly is getting FIRED UP for Obama!

Mark Warner would be a good VP, too. Needless to say, that was my first thought when Barack said that he couldn't wait to share the ticket with Mark Warner last night in Richmond (a girl can dream, right?).

My 18 year old son, first-time voter, is going to the rally in Virginia Beach tonight and I wish I could express his excitement to everyone. He is sitting outside the doors with a group of friends from school as I type.

I do watch Fox to see what the "other side is saying" to keep informed. I am not in agreement with Fox news very often in any way, however I think they have done a much better job than CNN in being fair and balanced with regard to reporting the democratic primary candidates.

Warner wouldn't be bad at all, but I think Jim Webb would bring something more under the circumstances - Barack brings a very reasoned argument about Iraq and natl security, but Webb could make the ticket better absorb the "incoming" this fall

Hey everyone. I have a question. First, please know that I am a die hard Obamacrat and have been since 2004. I want nothing better than seeing him in the WH so please don't think I'm a Clinton troll with this question.

When he gives his speechs he mentions the $4000 for students; 18 million for teachers; paying full tuition if you agree to teach; etc. I just want to know if there is anything I can read that will explain how he is going to pay for this. If Hillary really wants to change the direction of her campaign, she would have to change her grassroots supporters, of which there are not many. Obama's campaign works because we are all in this together, we donate, we make the calls, we educate people, we are the stakeholders and we are running this from the bottom up. Managers barely matter in this campaign. She still doesn't get it.

I hope everyone is making calls to VA! We cannot lose steam or relax just yet...

WOW! Someone should send this to CNN, because they are reporting the 11 per cent totals instead of the 41percent of the votes that are in. Maybe Wolfy from CNN is the co-campaign manager for Hillary. Fox has reported the 41 percent totals that are in from Maine.
