I also want to take this opportunity to wish the next First Family A Happy Holliday Season and a future as the residents of 1600 Pennyslvania Ave.

We ordinary people of the US and the world are extremely greatful to the Obama Family for sacrificing yourselves for this candidacy.

The Obamas have given us not only Change we can Believe in but also an Ordinary Honest and Qualified First Family we be Proud of as a Nation and the World.

Thank you very much to the Obamas for this journey well travelled and for agreeing to lead the way and bring a diverse people along for the ride.

So Hillary says she's relying on one establishment from the 90's (BIll) but now says she wants to rely on the other establishment from the 90's (Bush), and she has the nerve to say she'll make the biggest change. At least get your facts straight before trying to flame post on this blog. It was Keith Ellison the representative of Michigan that swore on Thomas Jefferson's koran, not Sen. Obama. Sen. Obama was never a muslim and is indeed a Christian member of the United Church of Christ congregation. He always recites the pledge, that picture circulating on the web is him standing for the national anthem like everyone does. And you haven't seen his parents because they are both DEAD! HAVE A NICE DAY SIR!!

I have some knowledge of Islam, Quran and constitution of the United States. I can tell you with confidence; constitution of the US is one of the best set of administrational principles in the world and includes many of the values and principles which are cherished in Islam. These rights and freedoms are supposed to be the core principles for any administration in the Muslim world, the reason it is not is the dictatorships and support of US government of these dictatorships, also estrangement of many Muslims with the principles of their own religion does not help either. Spread of "Wahabism" which is a distorted ideology and has nothing to do with Islam with the support and sponsorship of Saudi Royal family has had a lot of damage to the tue knowledge of Islam as well. Wahabism is the ideology of Taliban and Al-Qaeda, Islam is not their religion.

Thank you, Ali. I'm not Muslim, but I know a lot about Islam. Why? Because I actually read and learned about it. My biological father is from Jordan. And I had tons of Muslim friends in college. I'm really sick and tired of all the bigotry. It's offensive to our Muslim citizens of America, and it's offensive to our Muslim citizens of our planet. They're acting like being Muslim is a bad thing. They're treating Muslims like the boogeyman. This is called FEARmongering. They need to pick up a book and educate themselves. There is no room for ignorance in this world. Every religion has its crazies, or extremists, even Christianity.

By the way, like Barack, my biological father is Muslim...but very Americanized and open-minded. My parents divorced when I was six. I grew up Catholic with my Cuban mother. But now I'm Agnostic. As adults, we make our own decisions.

Yes, Reading is the solution to many of the misunderstandings. If I may, (for those who are not afraid of reading), I suggest books by Professor Seyyed Hossein Nasr in this field. He is one of handful of greatest academic scholars in the field of Islam and spirituality and a professor at Georgetown University in Washington. He is the graduate of Harvard and MIT and has written many many books. One of the most recent ones which was written after 9/11 to inform people who unfortunately are so misinformed by the media, is titled "The Heart of Islam: Enduring Values for Humanity" Link . It is a great read.

I don't know...maybe we should ask the two Clinton staffers who forwarded it where they got it. This is the most frustrating thing...when I'm making calls at the Obama office I get people who actually BELIEVE this nonsense. And nothing I say seems to convince them otherwise. Any sugguestions??

It has been my experience that people who refuse to accecpt the fact that Senator Obama is a Christian, have other reasons as to why they don't want to support him. I thank them for their time and move on to the next potential supporter.

It is tough to deal with people who are scared so easily. We have been living in a state of fear for a long time--I would argue long before 2001 and it is really tough for some people to break out of this way of thinking. I have heard Barack Obama speak of challenging the habits of thought. This is the challenge for all of us.

Btw Obama delivered the keynote at the UCC synod over the summer and his UCC pastor Wright will be speaking at my seminary in January and there is lots of excitement about the event.

Last week I posted that these upcoming couple of weeks have the potential to drive us crazy. Looks like my prediction has come true for some. :::sigh:::

Get a grip, kids! Which candidate is getting out there, explaining their proposals and taking questions? Which candidate responds to the questions directly, without ego and campaigning? Which candidate presents their true self consistently day after day? Which candidate wants to bring the entire country together? Which candidate wants to bring corporations into the fold... giving them a seat at the table, but not allowing them to buy all the chairs? Which candidate is the one folks like the most and trust the most? Who's the one who's campaign in Iowa has an OVERFLOW of volunteers?

Which candidate's spouse spreads hope? Which candidate's spouse is open, honest, and deeply cares about folks? Which candidate's spouse comes off as a real, live human facing the same problems as everyone else?

Hmmm... who could it be?

This and the Bob Kerry's remark about Barack's grandfather and father being Muslims are all part of coordinated sleazy attack on Obama.

I don't think tha Obama campaign can easily dismiss these kinds of tactics. I'v also heard that some Iowa HRC's county chairwoman was dismissed yesterday for forwarding e-mails about Obam's tie to Muslims to her constituents.

I am sincerely hope that the media response team do something about it right away.

I thought the Huckabee Merry Christmas Ad was brilliant, people in Iowa is gonna be pretty sick of politicians constantly working to convince them over the holiday season. That's why a genuine merry christmas ad will win more favor with the sensibilities of people while they make up their minds about the candidates.

I agree with both of you. Tactically, I think Huckabee's ad will play very well against the Romney attack ad. But Obama's ad was so much better and inclusive. I hope they are buying up air time in New Hampshire with this one or a similar spot - it ought to counter all the Willie Hortonesque nonsense over there.

As a Christian, I felt the same way about Huckabee's ad...very subliminal, very exclusionary. To me, there's nothing wrong with wishing everyone "Merry Christmas"...it's a good spirit-type greeting. However, it's the "you'd better celebrate Christmas and celebrate it the way I tell you to because anything thing else will put you in hell..." that ticks me off. When my Jewish friends say "Happy Hanukah" to me, I say it back to them! That's why I loved Barack's ad. It says Merry Christmas AND Happy Holidays! Christmas is just ONE holiday during this season! Did anyone else but me not only see the "cross" but also the highlighted THREE ornaments?!? Huckabee will try to say that the ad was just "Merry Christmas", but I see not-so-subtle arm-twisting to his point of view!
