Jindu,
I loved your video! I have watched it twice and it was an amazing piece. Yes, you definitely did your part.
I was Fired up and Ready to go today. I must have called about 100 people at the phonebank and I was so energized by all the support I heard. I also went to see Barack today in New Jersey and it was awesome! We Barack'd the Vote with Caroline Kennedy, Ted Kennedy and Robert DeNiro!

Today is the day we do it folks. Please call family members and friends that you know and try to make the last case for Obama. Find out if they might need a ride or any help. Let's do it folk because we are working against a machine that's been in place for more than 35 years. Let's send a strong signal to the machine that a people's movement can make a different. Our time is NOW America; let's go change the world.

The Dead have this amazing ability to transform a cold steel and concrete stadium into feeling like you're at a down home community barn dance. Barack has a similarly amazing capacity, to transform the forums of dry dead political blather into a frank sharing between friends and family. We could sure use more of this kind of good will, healing, and growth. Hey now!

Hello all,
If you would like to celebrate your vote, or if you are an independent in a state with a closed primary, check this out:
Below is a link to the With One Voice fundraising campaign for Senator Obama. It was started in honor of the voter in South Carolina who gave this movement $3.01 and a bible verse. She, like most of us, could not afford to max out her financial contribution. However, the spirit of this movement is not a few people doing a lot, it’s many people doing everything they can.
The goal is to echo our friend 10,000 times over and raise $30,100. So far we’ve raised over $3100 from over 100 people.
Please check it out, give what you can and pass the link on.

Thanks!

On set break now, but just after Come Together, Phil Lesh spoke to the crowd and did an awesome job. Talked about how he had been to a house party for Barack in Brooklyn, and how transformative it was. How it reached into his soul and made him feel things he hadn't felt since RFK. How he realized Barack is the real deal and chance for change like this doesn't come around all that often.
He declared, "This is our moment and Barack Obama is our man!"
He quoted a Hopi prayer, "We are the ones we have been waiting for!"
and someone else (didn't catch the name),"If you don't like the news go out and make some of your own."
Bob Weir added: "this is your one chance to make fundamental change, to change the way this country is run, to change the way this country fits in the world."
I miss Jerry. But these guys are still the best! And I want one of those posters! If anyone knows where they can be downloaded, please let me know.

That other guy who spoke during the set break (besides Phil and Bobby)was Mickey Hart.
Phil is right when he quoted the Hopi...We are who we've been waiting for. The future is now, Barack Obama is the voice for all of us.

Alas, I can't get in. However I will offer the lyrics to one of my favorites:
New Speedway Boogie
Please don't dominate the rap, jack, if you've got nothing new to say.
If you please, don't back up the track this train's got to run today.
I spent a little time on the mountain, I spent a little time on the hill
I heard someone say better run away, others say better stand still.
Now I don't know, but I been told it's hard to run with the weight of gold,
Other hand I have heard it said, it's just as hard with the weight of lead.
Who can deny, who can deny, it's not just a change in style?
One step down and another begun and I wonder how many miles.
I spent a little time on the mountain, I spent a little time on the hill
Things went down we don't understand, but I think in time we will.
Now, I don't know but I was told in the heat of the sun a man died of cold.
Keep on coming or stand and wait, with the sun so dark and the hour so late.
You can't overlook the lack, jack, of any other highway to ride.
It's got no signs or dividing lines and very few rule to guide.
I saw things getting out of hand, I guess they always will.
Now I don't know but I been told
If the horse don't pull you got to carry the load.
I don't know whose back's that strong, maybe find out before too long.
One way or another, one way or another,
One way or another, this darkness got to give.

When the Dead played RFK stadium in DC, summer of 93 or 94, walking distance from the capitol, Jerry beamed when he sang Liberty, which in my mind is kind of a Grateful Dead national anthem.
LIBERTY
Saw a bird with a tear in his eye
Walking to New Orleans, my oh my
Hey now bird, wouldn't you rather die
than walk this world when you're born to fly?
If I was the sun, I'd look for shade
If I was a bed, I would stay unmade
If I was a river, I'd run uphill
And you know me, you know I will
If you know me, you know I will
(refrain)
Ooo! Freedom
Ooo! Liberty
Oh! Leave me alone
I'll find my own way home
I'm gonna find my own way home
Say what I mean, and I don't give a damn
I do believe that I am who I am
Hey now Mama, come and take my hand
Whole lotta shakin, all over this land
If I was an eagle, I'd dress like a duck
Crawl like a lizard, and honk like a truck
If I get a notion I'll climb this tree
or chop it down, and you can't stop me
Or chop it down, and you can't stop me
(refrain)
Went to the well, but the water was dry
Dipped my bucket in the clear blue sky
Looked in the bottom, hidden, what did I see?
Whole damned world looking back at me
If I was a bottle, I'd spill for love
Sake of mercy, I would kill for love
If I was a liar, I'd lie for love
Sake of my baby, I'd die for love
Sake of my baby, I'd die for love
(refrain)
Jerry prefered the ballads. His favorite songs were Stella Blue and Days Between. After 62 shows, I still genuinely miss Jerry. But there sure is plenty of Inspiration in Barack, who I know in my gut, Jerry would have appreciated.
Godd night family.

Try this link; it's working for me:
Link
Back on; Deep Elem Blues now.
NSB is very apt; my all time favorite is Ripple:
If my words did glow with the gold of sunshine
And my tunes were played on the harp unstrung,
Would you hear my voice come through the music,
Would you hold it near as it were your own?
It's a hand-me-down, the thoughts are broken,
Perhaps they're better left unsung.
I don't know, don't really care
Let there be songs to fill the air.
Ripple in still water,
When there is no pebble tossed,
Nor wind to blow.
Reach out your hand if your cup be empty,
If your cup is full may it be again,
Let it be known there is a fountain,
That was not made by the hands of men.
There is a road, no simple highway,
Between the dawn and the dark of night,
And if you go no one may follow,
That path is for your steps alone.
Ripple in still water,
When there is no pebble tossed,
Nor wind to blow.
You who choose to lead must follow,
But if you fall you fall alone,
If you should stand then who's to guide you?
If I knew the way I would take you home.

I was out flyering my precinct tonight here in SF and came to one very big apt building on my list. the tenants coming in told me they got together and did a building wide 'caucus' last week ... the results were 80% obama/20% clinton. the obama folks are hitting the precinct en masse @ 9am tomorrow ...
now if we could just replicate that across SF. and across CA ... and across the nation!!! (now .. the relevance to the concert tonight: my precinct contains jerry garcia's old house on ashbury st.) ;-)

Every volunteer needs to remember, tomorrow we are going to MAKE HISTORY.
This movement has no boundaries, or limits on what the common person is capable of . This campaign, as Sen. Obama states, "is about bringing people together from the GRASSROOTS level."
Tomorrow we must all promise to each other the following
1) That before I leave my house, I promise myself to put in 110% effort from the opening of polls till closing
2)Do NOT get overconfident, as EVERY VOTE matters
3)Do NOT get distracted by the internet, tv, blogs etc. Be Focused till the end
4) Make a promise to yourself when you leave home, "you will part of history today."
5) In the last two hours, do something EXTRA. Find that extra spirit, and gear, and take your energy to a new level. Find those extra votes in your area, that for some reason are left
Motivate others in your office, group etc
6)When the polls close, HAVE NO REGRETS AND BE PROUD OF YOURSELF
As a resident of Canada, my wife and I have also been inspired by Senator Obama. For us, we were too young to know Dr. King or John F. Kennedy. The world desparately wants America to regain its dignity and restore its leadership role in the world.
I was so inspired during the South Carolina primary, that in the last three hours, I personally called every Obama campaign office to motivate them or energize them to higher levels. I wanted to let them know the world cares and appreciates their participation in this special movement.
YES WE CAN Make a Difference Tommorrow

Does anyone know if someone who accidentally registered as an "American Independent" in CA can vote for Barack tomorrow. Lots of people in CA, including a friend of mine, made the mistake of selecting "American Independent" instead of "decline to state" thinking they were registering as an independent. My question is can such a person ask for a democratic ballot once they get to the voting center and vote for Barack? Any advice is appreciated. Thanks!

Yes, Independents can still vote democrat. You have to ask for the democrat ballot, make sure you darken a circle at the top indicating you are voting democrat, and then choose the candidate. Get the word out!
We need some people at the california polls to make sure these directions get out.

I am afraid registers voters of "the American Independent Party"(whether deliberate or accidental) cannot vote in Democratic Primaries without changing their party affiliation or to decline to state option. Don't know if it is possible in this late hour. Independents aka "Decline to State Voters" can vote.

no, that's inaccurate! you CAN vote, even if registered AIP. it's in your sample ballot instructions: just go to the polls, request a democratic ballot, MARK THE BUBBLE FOR DEM on top of the ballot, then vote as usual. AIPS and "decline-to-state" independents can vote in this primary!!!

I's afraid SKZolo is correct. My friend just got turned away from her voting location in Los Angeles b/c she accidentally registered as an "American Independent" and not "Decline to State." Apparently , AIP is a affiliated party and "decline to state" isnt so they wouldn't give her a Democratic ballot. thats so lame! I'm afraid SKZolo is correct. My friend just got turned away from her voting location in Los Angeles b/c she accidentally registered as an "American Independent" and not "Decline to State." Apparently, AIP is an affiliated party and "decline to state" isn’t, so they wouldn't give her a Democratic ballot. She had to vote for an AIP candidate (MAD MAX, among others). That’s so lame! They said she could fill out a provisional ballot but it wouldn't count :( She couldn’t vote for Barack.

missed the show, plum forgot cause I was so psyched up about finding out about the Hartford rally for my friend there. It was magical. I happened to be talking to him via phone and happened to have the news on msnbc, happened to hear there was a rally. He walked over there as the center was in his neighborhood and he is so psyched about getting to see Obama....and then I forgot about the Dead show. WILL THIS BE AVAILABLE TODAY ANYWHERE??????? I figure someone should have it on some site. I started listening to the Dead in 1966. Darn it...lol...today I vote. It snowed in NM and I hope people can get to their polls

Hi All,
Many probably have seen me posting for a while and I tried this plea before but I need to try again.
I am a registered Republican who has wanted to vote for Obama since his 2004 speech and I fully support him now. I believe and have believed that he is the only one for this country at THIS TIME. We, as a country, need him NOW. We can not wait, if we wait until he is ‘seasoned’, the damage might have already been done. I love that he doesn’t have ‘Washington experience’, that helps make him so great since he is not corrupted. I love how he can inspire people and always tell the truth. I love how he is not afraid to work with Republicans because we are all Americans and there are good and bad Republicans and Democrats. He will be a President that is a President of the WHOLE country, not just one party.
I am trying to raise $500 for Obama so I can help every way I can for Obama. More than a couple people have been generous before since I am at $110 now, but I really want to reach my goal. Please help me.
Thank you so much in advance.
My dream is to go to the Denver Convention and represent Obama for people like me (Republicans for Obama), but I am not sure that is possible since I am a registered Republican.

I'm stuck in school...on hall duty and we're not supposed to stream video here (I do when I'm in my room, but I don't think the administration would like me playing Dead music while checking hall passes)...I'm bummed!
Followed the Dead around for a few years way back when...
Inspiring music for an inspiring day! I am sooo nervous for Obama...keeping the faith!

Roland Martin just questioned Maxine Waters about Obama/Clinton health plans.
Very good conversation.........She would not answer the questions regarding wage garnishment but said it will be on the table...........
He also asked her since you are supporting Clinton, if your District comes back with a support of Obama, as a superdelegate will you change your vote? she said "what, what I'm not understanding your question" lol
I was holding my breath.....waiting on an answer
She finally said "If it is close I will not change"
you can listen to Santita Jackson (Rev. Jackson daughter) at www.wvon.com
Roland will be checking in from CNN all day today.
