A couple months ago, during the Road to Change tour through Iowa, we had the opportunity to spend the day with Duffy Lyon and her husband Joe at their family farm.
Joe is a renowned farmer in Tama, Iowa, but Duffy is world famous. She's the one who sculpted the Butter Cow statue at the Iowa State Fair for decades until retiring last year, and she's been interviewed by scores of national and international media outlets. Duffy and Joe are active Obama supporters and when Duffy met Barack during the Road to Change tour, she presented him with a Butter O sculpture.
Now, she's starring in a new radio ad playing in Iowa.
“You know, you see a lot of manure in our line of work,” Lyon says. “It’s a lot like politics. You got to know what’s bull and what’s for real.”“Barack Obama’s got a real plan for rural America,” Lyon says. “And it’s gutsy because it looks out for us, not lobbyists. It ends huge payments to factory farms that drive family farms out of business and gets rid of income taxes for most Iowa seniors.”
