WASHINGTON, DC -- Former U.S. Congressman and 9/11 Commissioner Tim Roemer today endorsed Barack Obama for President, citing his foreign policy judgment and his crossover appeal among independents and Republicans.

“Barack Obama has shown the right judgment and has the best plans to deal with the national security challenges facing America,” said Congressman Roemer. “He knows that 21st century threats can’t be met with conventional 20th century thinking. He rightly warned that Iraq would distract us from the fight in Afghanistan, and was focused on the threat from al Qaeda in Pakistan before it was in the headlines. His leadership and comprehensive approach to terrorism will carry out the full breadth of the 9/11 Commission’s recommendations, and restore America’s security and standing in the world.”

Congressman Roemer also noted that Obama is the Democrat with the most crossover appeal among independents and Republicans that is needed to win the White House and to build strong majorities in Congress. “Obama is the leader who can bring America together, and build a broad coalition of Democrats, independents and Republicans across blue states and red states. That’s how Democrats are going to win both the White House and Congress in November, and that’s how we can finally make progress on the huge challenges we face.”

“In a dangerous world, Tim Roemer’s principled and pragmatic leadership has made America safer,” said Senator Obama. “His work in Congress and on the 9/11 Commission has helped us understand the threat of terrorism, and his tenacious advocacy for the Commissions’ recommendations has helped us confront it. Whether he is standing up for a world-class education for our children, or working to combat the threats of the 21st century, Congressman Roemer knows how to bring people together behind common sense solutions. Roemer represented the Third District of Indiana in Congress from 1991-2003. He was known for his efforts to make higher education more affordable, to strengthen public education, to enhance America’s intelligence community, and to balance the budget. Roemer was the key sponsor of legislation to establish the National Commission on Terrorist Attacks Upon the United States (the “9/11 Commission”), on which he then served. He is currently the President of the Center on National Policy in Washington, D.C.

Let's hope Tim actively gets out on the "stump" - would love to see him challenge ex-Pres WJ Clinton directly on Clinton's documented FAILURE to deal with the terrorism threat during his administration!

This story will not impact the South Carolina vote. Black people does not care about this stuff. By the time Super Tuesday comes around it will die. Stories like this has a short life span. No worries.

Yeah, I'm signing on too..black folks in SC don't care about that stuff. At least Obama gave the money back. They want to talk about crooked donors, the Clintons need to check their own record. Plus, has anyone ever asked themselves the quetions as to why the body count of people associated with the Clintons and campaign financing for the 92 election just kept on rising and rising...Vince Foster, Ron Brown, James McDougal, Victor Raiser and his son Montgomery Raiser.

They will do anything to get back in the white house. Every move by the Clintons since the end of Bill's term has been geared toward the white house. HRC's run for NY senate, Bill's office in Harlem. The link above even makes a connection between JFK Jr., a Potential Candidate for Senator from New York and the Clintons who died on 7/16/99.

Within days of an NBC Dateline story hinting at a possible run for the Senate seat currently assumed to be the property of Hillary Clinton, JFK Jr. and his wife and sister-in-law died when the Piper JFK Jr. was piloting crashed in to the ocean just short of Martha's Vineyard.

The NEWSWEEK issue for the following Monday, which NBC Dateline had reported would announce JFK Jr's candidacy, was yanked from distributors and destroyed.

Even before the wreckage of the plane had been found, the media was saturated with news stories declaring the weather to have been very hazy (the weather was VFR conditions, and 8 mile visibility, plus weather radar and witnesses on Martha's Vineyard all reported clear skies) making it impossible for JFK Jr. to know which way was up (he also had working instruments in the aircraft).

The link goes into detail - may be a bit far fetched but it at least makes you wonder.

For me this does not even compare with Bill Clinton lying on National TV, disgracing the White House, impreacment and their involvement in White Water, the botch handling Universal Health Care, need I go on. If this is all they got on Obama we are in good shape, let us be proud.

I believe this makes a good point. It is going to be up to us to make sure that the Clintons are scrutinized as well. They really don't want to open the door to all of there dirt.

Thank you Rep Roemer. Your endorsement means a lot to the Obama campaign. Unfortunatly, PA Gov. Ed Rendell is endorsing Hillary today. Whatever. I'm hoping PA Sen Bob Casey will endorse Barack Obama.
