The movement continues to progress towards our goal of 500,000 donors. Here is what some of you who have pledged to double new donors' contributions are saying:
Konina in Missouri:
"Look at what this campaign has done since February! I've got to say that I'm amazed at where we are today. We can make a big difference now with just a small contribution. Need a last minute gift? Donate $25.00 and put a note in their card that you've just supported the campaign of Barack Obama '08."
Bill in West Virginia:
"At seventy-two I'm at last getting into politics on the strength of Barack Obama's inspiration; hope you'll get enthused also."
Debra in Illinois:
"My husband has been out of work since April, and we're carrying an extra mortgage from a house we can't sell because of the abysmal housing market. So money is tight, but I'm donating a little to the Obama campaign, as I've done several times this year, because I think it's crucial we elect the one person who could effectively address these economic problems (along with others, like healthcare, education, global warming and the Iraq mess).More than at almost any other time in our history, I think, our country needs a leader with Barack Obama's unique background, experiences and skills in bringing together a variety of people and viewpoints. His story and candidacy inspire me more than any other politician ever has--and this is one of the few elections in my voting life (since 1980) that I'm voting for someone rather than against someone or choosing the lesser of two evils.I hope you find the same sort of inspiration. Thank you for joining the cause!"
Russell in Texas:
"There are so many things I could say about why Barack has my support... I'm a 22-year old college student from a small rural town in Texas. I've been very disillusioned with politics since Bush's reelection, and haven't been inspired to action by a single politician in a very long time. Barack has brought me back into this process, and given me such hope for the future of this country. I've already donated several times and chose to make this matching donation hoping that it would bring someone into the process that wouldn't have otherwise been a part..."
Thousands of people in this movement, like Konina, Bill, Debra, and Russell, are waiting for new folks to join the movement. If you've never donated before, you can double your impact and help us reach our historic goal of 500,000 donors. Our moment is now.
