I just returned from our caucus and quickly want to tell you all that we won by a huge margin here in Brunswick. Just spoke with family in Kennebunk and Kennebunkport and we won big there too.

I am very stressed out and will write more about it later, but there were some serious issues with voter registration and problems at the polling places.

It was tough and I had to go around apologizing to DNC officials at the end for being so fierce, but I was advocating for so many people who waited in line for hours to caucus.

Thank you to everyone who made phone calls. On my way out the door I received a call from a very cheerful volunteer Jessie from Philadelphia. I was so proud of our movement today.

Everyone, we need to do everything in our power to elect Obama. I know that many of us have been working our hearts out, but we need to dig deeper.

I would like to tell you a story. People stood in line for 4 hours waiting to register and get in the caucus. I had this amazing group of Bowdoin students (40 or so) who marched with signs to the caucus. They stood out in the heavy blowing snow convincing people who were in line not to leave.

One of the couples who left early was so upset. She was crying. They are both military and have been apart more than together because of the war in Iraq. As she left she said "we in the military just keep getting the message that we don't matter" They were there to vote for Obama. I just hugged her and told her that she mattered to me.

So many military folks came to caucus for Barack. Many of them had to leave early to work. We definitely lost a number of them. One man shared with me that he feels invisible.

The point is that they support Barack because they know better than anyone how disastrous the war in Iraq has been and they are suffering.

We can do this and we must!! Whatever it takes. Yes we can!

Go under Ohio at the website and see the office sites. You can call there or join from there. Don't wait for people to call just go and help out. Canvassing is huge!!! Take the things below door to door

You can also print something showing the voting date - vote OBama 08 and then print something about him and make copies.

Amy, I am a precinct co-captain for Obama here in Portland - I handed off a big armload of signs to another volunteer who is headed to OH this week. We got your back!

People, the Portland caucus was HUGE - I was in there early (to set things up and prep the rooms) and I watched people stand in horrible wind and driving snow and sleet for HOURS to caucus. I felt so bad. We were trying to get food and coffee and coats out to them but the crowds were so huge all the exits were blocked - we actually tried to jimmy a window so we could throw mini candy bars at them! Those people were literally freezing - and yet they stayed. And it wasn't just kids, either - lots of older folks too. I was so proud of them.

My precinct broke more than 2:1 for Obama.

Wow, a sweep in the weekend primaries / caucuses! Erin is right on the money, if we can get Texas & Ohio this thing really will be over! But lets not get too far ahead of ourselves (calming myself down). A sweep this Tuesday and again in WI & HI will really put a strain on any momentum and financial support HRC can muster going into TX & OH.

Absolutely - volunteer via the website. I just got word that LOTS of talented Obama staff are coming to Texas (they're arriving in Austin tonight) and will be spreading out across the state. HRC won Oklahoma and some southern states which I (a native Texan) thought would have been, with all due respect "anti-Hillary". So, that means we CAN NOT take anything for granted. We need ALL the help we can get. If we secure Texas it will make a HUGE difference!

I'm gonna be doing my part in my home town near Dallas, TX! I hit the phones today calling Maine, and it looks like it paid off. I'm really beginning to believe that Barack is gonna get the nomination! Got an Obama bumper sticker on my car, a yard sign in my yard, and a t-shirt on my back. I'll be calling in Texas, bugging my friends and relatives, and donating as much as I can. We're gonna do this thing in TX. Yes We Can!!

I live in Keller and go to school in Arlington. I am talking to all my friends and trying to make sure they are going to primary for Obama. I am looking forward to volunteering in person for the first time in my life for a campaign. I hope they open a couple offices in DFW. There is a lot of ground to cover.

They are right. The going gets harder from here on out. We need more work and determination than ever before. Remember you can never count a Clinton out. They are like a chameleon, as soon as you think you have them, they change and come at you a different way. I know the work is difficult, but we have to and we must stay vigilant and continuing ramping up our support.

In honor of the work we did this weekend, I am donating another $50; $10 for each victory we have gained this weekend. This is because I know it will only get harder from here.

This was fun. My first Maine Caucus even though I've lived here *'most* of my life. It's an example of a great democratic process. We had ~93 people and ~59 for Obama and one undecided. (unofficial) By fractional percentages we ended up with SIX Obama Delegates and Three for Hillary. AND I became one of the Obama Delegates... The State convention will be fun. I'm looking forward to it. Thank you Barak for inspiring me (and many others) with your passion and commitment. I played the Ipod Vid of "Yes We Can" for a few people at the caucus. As one excited guy from Maine might Say... "It's Wicked Awesome":-)

Thank you phone bankers! I'm a Portland ME Obama precinct co-captain, and I can tell you for a FACT you did make a difference.

I talked to at least 5-6 people today who mentioned that all they were getting from the HRC campaign was one robo-call after another (I personally got 4 of them, 3 the same dang call...it's like being stalked!), whereas all of them mentioned appreciating that real, live people were calling on behalf of Barack Obama. I got a nice caller from Area Code 719 myself this morning - thank you, Colorado! Sorry I had to run but I had a caucus to go to.

One guy said an out-of-state phone banker (well, I imagine they were out of state - the guy said they "talked funny - kinda Southern") was the one who told him that as an undeclared voter, he could register as a Democrat and caucus for Barack today. You got real people to the caucus, and helped win our state.

This is a turning point for Hillary - a tipping point. Psychologically devastating.

We must still work our hardest, donate, get out the vote, but we have more than momentum.

It is like Barack's definition of hope - it requires hard work, but eventually the goal is within sight.

Obama-ites: Maine has shown us the light at the end of the tunnel!

I will vote, I will knock on doors, I will donate, but these are the steps in the ladder that has now been pushed our way.

Let's climb that ladder! We can see the rooftop to victory!

Here in Freeport ME, our caucus just voted 20 state delegates to H's 6. The caucus was delayed about an hour so we could re-register a line of independents that must have been more than a hundred. It was great to see such energy, all the youth in the Obama camp, and so many of our town's most thoughtful former republicans standing up in public for BO.

As Maine goes, so goes the nation.

What I love about this campaigne is its got alot of people juiced and pumped up. Americans were becoming Zombies and harboring rage and hate and now the hearts of America are soft again. To see such a man to bring about love and hope through desperate times of a cold and untrust worthy administration is a change well needed. I HOPE THEY DO ALL THEY CAN TO PROTECT THIS MAN. He is a true marvel, his message brings tears to the eyes of people all over the world. My Japanese girlfreind speaks very little english and she watched the news with me here in Okinawa Japan and she said " Baby that lady looks like she say anything to win" then she said I belive his words. I am African American and to hear a foreigner who doesnt even speak good english say what I have been saying is amazing. Thank you Barak Obama I dont have much but I gave my last 100 dollars to the campaingne right before Maine what is change without a sacrafice from all.

Any of you guys on here that reserved your tickets through this site for the meeting tomorrow morning at 7:30 at the Jefferson Ctr in Roanoke, I hate to tell you but you won't have tickets. I reserved my and just drove in 60mph winds for 2 1/2 hours (including sitting in backup traffic on interstate because of a large fire coming across the highway, one of several fires in the area) only to be told that they do not have tickets and it was a mistake on this site's part to have allowed them to be reserved. I am HEARTBROKEN and so is my child. We had been talking about it for days and he was going to get to stay out of school tomorrow. There are 308 reserved tickets and all these people on here going are going thinking they have tickets. I understand that this was not the site's fault but the fault of the person that put it up under 'local events'. Only good news is that HRC has canceled her appearance tonight because of the horrible weather.

I'm sorry that happened to you. A word of advice to all - if you haven't been to a rally yet, don't trust sign-ups, reservations, or tickets because they wind up not being honored. I'm not sure why the campaign is still pushing them. If you want to see Barack show up EARLY. And plan on standing in line. It kind of sucks. Especially if you thought you had a sport reserved. :( BUT, if you do get in - it is SO worth the wait. I guess it's just a side consequence of supporting the most inspirational candidate in several generations!!

And they can call it because at this point (~6:45 PM EST), 70% of precincts have reported their final results, and Obama's leading 58% to 41%. That means that Clinton would need to win all the remaining precincts by margins of 40%.

Technically, of course, that's possible, but statistically you'd give it a one-in-a-million chance of happening. NBC obviously thinks the data they have now sufficiently rule out that possibility, which is why they can call it for Obama. (In response to the question below this one.)

So, 24 delegates with a 17% margin of victory stands to net Obama either 3 or 4 delegates. (Or some complex math that is beyond me involving individual districts could make that smaller or larger.) End result: while you can say that every little helps (and it does), this result is more valuable as part of a sweep, especially since it might have been the most vulnerable of the states between Feb 5th and March 4th for us.

If the sweep continues (as it looks like it will) through the Potomac primaries and Hawaii, and hopefully Wisconsin, we will be in a great position to make the case to Ohio and Texas. I truly believe we will win Texas, and although Ohio will be an uphill struggle (we're still down around 20 points there), we definitely CAN win or at least pull very close, so that coming away from March 4th we'll have a substantial lead in total delegates. At that point, with our case well and truly made, I think it'll be a very easy decision for the bulk of super delegates to clinch it quickly for Obama.

Anyways, that's my analysis/ scenario. Anyone else?

Oh, and I hear we might be getting the Edwards endorsement pretty soon. Anyone hear anything about that?

....depending on which news station you watch, the counts they are showing include superdelegates for Obama and the opponent.

...that said and if their counts are anywhere close to being accurate, then there's only about 25-33 points of difference...NOT including the delegates from Maine today.

...so, including the superdelegate count Obama still stands to come out big after the Potomac elections!

.....hard work EVERYONE......let's do this!

...we have to make the superdelegates, MI and FL and mute point by the time Obama steps into the DNC convention!

....Let's Do This!!!! wide, wide margins of victory in the Potomac.....that's what we need to help bring home for Obama NOW!

We need to get the Hispanic vote in Texas for Obama. I don't believe endorsements help all that much but I wish Bill Richardson would endorse Obama well before he Texas primary. If there are any Hispanics reading this what could Obama do to get the Hispanic vote or at least a good precentage of it. This could be the key to getting Obama the nomination.

Bill Richardson would help indeed, but that's very hopeful thinking since he's a very long-time Clinton friend and they've done alot for him. But my thought is that the fact that Richardson did NOT endorse either one before the New Mexico primary, it was almost like saying he really likes Obama! His loyalty to the Clintons probably prevented him from endorsing Obama. On another blog today someone posted that the rumor is that he will be endorsing Hillary today?? I hope it was only a rumor.
But what Obama REALLY needs to do in Texas is run TV ads on all of the Hispanic TV & Radio stations in Spanish, with a message directed towards the Latino voter issues. I know he is getting some good advice from other Hispanic elected officials that have endorsed him.
ALSO, THERE ARE NO OBAMA PRODUCTS IN SPANISH in the website store. And this is crucial! More "SI SE PUEDE" buttons, bumper stickers, rally signs etc.
On another blog in here, a wonderful writer ends his blog messages with this chant in Spanish that will catch on like wildfire once we can make it public:
"Se Ve! Se Siente! Obama Presidente!!!"

This will get the crowds going!!!
It rhymes, but translated means : "You can see it, You can feel it, Obama President"

I was just thinking about New Hampshire...

I was thinking about watching the returns completely dumbfounded at what was happening.

I remember thinking "I can't believe this could be over before it started."

And then, I remember watching Barack Obama's speech. I remember the first time he began the "Yes We Can!" anthem, and I remember jumping up in my living room, pumping my fist, with tears streaming down my face.

Even in defeat, there was hope.

They call it when the outstanding votes will not make a difference. Say for instance Obama is up by 100 and only 50 are left outstanding, then it won't make a difference.

Frankly, at this stage of the game, NO ONE will change their support for either Clinton or Obama based on Edward's endorsement. I really belive JE's endorsement has no value now. If people are not already voting for CLinton, they won't if JE ask them to. Also he was the most critical of Clinton and now it will make him sounding like a phoney hypocrite if he stands behind Clinton. The way 2 person race shaped up, seems to me most of JE voters already shifted to Obama. SO either way, it will be a wash. This man has no commitment for anything. He is just an opportunist and waiting for the best possible deal he can get.

I totally agree with you. I think endorsements are over-rated. John Edward's endorsement will not change anything. We are doing well now, and we will continue to do well, endorsement or no endorsement. This campaign belongs to the American people.

We have to respect Elizabeth Edwards illness. I'm sure he's not procrastinating but I'm sure his wife's health is more important than endorsing. Chemo treatments are hard to deal with, and he has small children, so let's not lend on him right now, we don't know his situation. We don't know if she's been in the hospital, just had chemo treatments, or what. Let's be respectful of his family life.

Okay, Trying to gauge opinion here from the American people.

I have been hooked on this campaign from pretty much the day that Obama announced his candidacy. I strongly feel that Obama would not just be a great leader for America, but if elected, he would also be a strong leader for the rest of the world. As a citizen of the UK - a major ally of the US - your decision to elect the next president has a profound and direct impact on us, and the rest of the world.

To that end, I find myself slightly frustrated that there is so little that we can do to help. Obviously we can send our goodwill and enthusiasm your way - but, if goodwill and enthusiasm translated directly into votes, Obama would have already secured the nomination - and unfortunately that is not the case.

Is there anything constructive that folks from the UK (and other countries) can do in order to further this campaign? I have heard from one or two others on these blogs about making calls (to states that have yet to hold their primaries/caucuses) from abroad - but I would want to gauge opinion on how calls from non US citizens would be received by undecided voters.

Any thoughts or suggestions would be greatly
received!

I personally think it would be great to have international callers join the team.

Your calls would be very unique, they would say that Barack has international support and we can improve our image around the world if we vote for him.

I had to change my cell plan all around to make calls so my guess you would have to as well. With that it is worth it. Every call counts.

Tom, so glad to hear from you. I love hearing about people abroad supporting Obama. To me, it would make sense to see what kind of groups already exist in London. I have two friends who just moved back to London from Michigan and they are huge Obama supporters. I'll see if I can find out from them if they belong to any groups.

Hello! Re: the international callers, I am a UK citizen (Scotland) who lives in Illinois. Since I am a resident and not a citizen, I can't vote, BUT I have been calling, donating, and buying yard signs and stickers, and I know I have persuaded long time political apathists to get their voter registration cards and get out there and vote. It feels special to be involved in this marvellous movement.

I try to motivate those who can participate directly,

Tom, I wish there were something you could do, and I'm aware that Sen. Obama is a big hit all over the world, but I'm afraid we have a lot of people here who would be bothered by the implications. There are those who would resent that "outsiders" were trying to influence the election. It has been a problem in the past, particularly when we get to the general election in the Fall. If you have friends or family here, by all means, tell them how you feel, but I don't think anything more direct than that would be helpful. Just send good vibes, and we'll do out best to deliver, for ourselves, and the rest of the world.

Tom, I would have to second Mary's comment. Sad, but true, that non-American citizens probably need to be careful about contributing--no matter how well intentioned--to American politics. I am not sure about the rules on foreign financial contributions, but money does matter in politics (sad reality), so perhaps a small financial contribution would make sense. In any event, take solace knowing that one factor driving many Americans' support of Obama is the idea that he is an internationalist and would improve our country's image abroad. I would love to hear a British accent on the other end of the phone line supporting one of our presidential candidates. I don't want this to come out the wrong way, but as long as the call is from a strongly allied country, I think most Americans would think it was great. Just my opinion, of course.

I would suggest writing letters to the major newspapers in the upcoming states. Tell them that you are a citizen overseas that is watching this election in the United States and why. I think pro-Obama letters from various foreign citizens would make an impact. It makes an impression on people in the United States when they hear how pro-Obama the whole world is. I sent out an e-mail to everyone I know after obama's win in Iowa to tell them about the well-wishers on the blog from all over the world and it really made people take notice.

Check with HQ as to what they think. I think it would be great, though it may rub some the wrong way. But these calls can rub some the wrong way for any number of reasons.

You can write letters to various papers, in your country and in ours, you can organize events in your area with other Obama supporters (I am sure there are many, and more by each hour), you can reach out to any and everyone you know over here.

I love all the international support, and it underscores a critical point, that Barack will strengthen our alliances and raise our standing in the world.

I have always been wishing the MSM would notice how this campaign is viewed all over the world. It is very impressive to me, and a great confirmation of the immediate effect his winning would have in our standing around the world.

Maybe having people from around the world contact CNN and MSNBC just to express their hopefullness in his winning, their enthusiasum, etc. Maybe if they heard from enough of you, they might let others know. As long as the MSM would interpret it in a good way...who knows.

From my past experience during Iowa primaries, it's not a good idea for foreigners to have any direct influence in the election. Definitely check with the campaign to see if it's even legal for you to call voters. Even if you were to get an OK, it's very hard for you to relay to an American about issues. It might have negative effects.

I'm an Obama supporter from Bosnia, Sarajevo; also hooked up since the beginning of 2007. I wondered for months what to do to help since I felt calling undecided voters or donating money is not a good thing to do for non-americans (I mean, I would feel bad if non-Bosnians would try to influence election here...). That's why I restrain myself to visiting this website every day (numerous times), writing to my friends who are US citizens, joining a group of international Obama supporters...

I also wrote J. Edwards urging him to endorse Obama (I felt he should be aware Obama has a strong international appeal);

I don't know what else to do guys... good luck and please know how strongly people feel about Obama here in Bosnia (even though most news come from CNN which can be quite misleading)

I'm in the UK too and have been thinking about what I could do. I am a bit wary of making phone calls because I do think we have to be very careful about not interfering in other countries political systems. Lord knows both the US and UK have done that too much in the past in our histories (as have many other countries).

But each to their own on that one. I would suggest that the Campaign gives a steer on that one. From my own time travelling to the US for business and pleasure, I would suggest that calls from Brits (and others) would go down well in some parts of the States but not others.

What I have been doing here though, is emailing newspapers like the Times etc when there have been silly articles about Obama. That seems to be a good use of our time. Some of the commentators have written good pieces but there are also some who have resistance to Obama, mostly because they know the name and 'better the devil you know'. We need to write in to editors and also blogs to make sure facts are corrected etc.

I am also thinking seriously though about heading over to the US around election time - funds and time off working allowing - to see if there was anyway to help out. I'd be happy to just make sure campaign folks got fed and fired up with plenty of coffee! November is going to be frantic for the Obama campaign.

Man oh man, Hillary is getting desperate. All of the sudden, it seems that all she wants to do is surround herself with Obama. Wants to debate him weekly, and even wants to appear in town hall meetings together now? That tells me a few things--one of which is that she doesn't even have faith in the people that they know who they are supporting or why. Could she really be so delusional as to think that Obama is only starting to pull ahead because people are clueless and no nothing about policy or character differences?

I believe her strategy is two-fold. She wants to use the debates as a way to get more face time (and she believes she is stronger in debates than Obama), AND, the rest of this month is Obama's travel time for the big states of Ohio and Texas. If he's tied up in debates, he won't be on the ground shaking hands and kissing babies.

I don't think it's a sign of weakness for Barack to not take her up on all of these debates.

I tell you, I've been doing phone banks here since August - he was SO not on people's radar, even as recently as November or so. We were WAY down in the polls. The win in IA really put Obama on the map for the rank and file here, so it's props all around!

Whew. Long day. And I cannot believe how brave those thousands of caucus-goers were today, standing in line for over 4 hours in driving snow. That's more than civic duty, that's a movement.

Lots of nice independents there today who waited in endless lines to become Democrats and vote for our guy. Obamacrats rule!

Senator Edwards,

It goes without saying that I am an Obama supporter, who admired your style and message. I was prepared to go your way if Barack wasn't going to make it. I think that you can make a great President. But then again, so can Senator Obama. I urge you to take a closer look at what is happening around the country. Senator Obama has been able to mobilize the young like no other candidate has been able to do maybe since President John Kennedy. In the depths of my heart I know that Senator Obama will priorotize the issues of the poor and the disenfranchised. You don't need to hear any more about his record of organizing poor communities in order to aid them to seek social justice in a society where they tend to be forgotten. Two weekends ago my wife and I went to Wilmington Delaware to campaign for Senator Obama. In going around the poor neighborhoods in Wilmington the sheer sadness of the poverty stricken side of America caused me to tear up. I am convinced that only a person who is free of the chains of the lobbyists and corporate special interests would be able to empower the poor, the way you have championed the issue. I urge you as a responsible and a concerned citizen to endorse the candidacy of Senator Obama and help him to win this election so we can all mobilize and erradicate poverty once and for all.

Hillary's campaign just announced that 25 of the superdelegates in VA, DC, and MD have officially announced their commitment to Hillary. Now, I don't know about you folks, but if those people represented my state, I'd be calling them up and raising some heck!

There is no excuse for pledging your superdelegate vote BEFORE the people you purportedly represent even have a chance to make their voices heard! Who do these people think they represent????

Don't worry. 1. Superdelegates are not permanent. They can switch-over to Obama whenever they want. 2. There is NO WAY that if Obama keeps up this momentum that Superdelegates are going to perform a coup de tat and give the nomination to Hillary. It would be absolute mayhem to the whole Democratic Party. Deep breaths... :-)

Any of you guys on here that reserved your tickets through this site for the meeting tomorrow morning at 7:30, I hate to tell you but you won't have tickets. I reserved my and just drove in 60mph winds for 2 1/2 hours (including sitting in backup traffic on interstate because of a large fire, one of several in the area) only to be told that they do not have tickets and it was a mistake on this site's part to have allowed them to be reserved. I am HEARTBROKEN and so is my child. We had been talking about it for days and he was going to get to stay out of school tomorrow. There are 308 reserved tickets and all these people are going to be going thinking they have tickets. I understand that this was not the site's fault but the fault of the person that put it up under 'local events'. Only good news is that HRC has canceled her appearance tonight because of the horrible weather.

Although I'm a supporter, I have to say that referencing polls from October is kind of misleading. Certainly the overall arc of the campaign is remarkable, as that 37 point deficit was undoubtedly real at one point, but your post kind of makes it sound like October's gap would have been present in a poll done yesterday, which I doubt would have been the case.

Today's victory in Maine was a surprise... and this is coming from a NH resident.. who is still in shock that Hillary won here :( .. none the less we have been supporting here vigorously..

My wife and I are Christians who attend a large Seacoast Church.. needless to say there have been many questions regarding our constant choice of Obama apparel for the last month or so.. we also have a large contingent that live in Southern Maine..

So today once again donning our Obama gear we were asked my numerous people on why we supported Obama if he was a Muslim?? It's unreal how much mis-information is out there.. but once we calmly and passionately list the facts of what Barack is about people come around..

This happened today to my wife who volunteers for everything at our church and is well liked by all.. she had an opportunity to speak w/ two Maine residents today who were split about voting for Barack based on the whole Muslim thing but really liked him as a candidate?? lol.. so after 25 mins w/ my wife she had won over two Maniacs (term used for Maine residents) who went and voted today!!

According to Joe Scarborough, former Republican member of Congress and now a host on MSNBC, he is inundated with e-mails from his Republican friends praising Obama after each of his “big time” speeches.

In addition to Joe Scarborough, other Republicans like Bill Bennett, Peggy Noonan, Rich Lowry and Pete Wehner also like Obama.

Wehner, a Bush Administration official, said a number of prominent Republicans—who would wage a pitched battle against “Hillary Clinton”—like Obama and would find it hard to generate much enthusiasm in OPPOSING him.

So, what’s Obama’s appeal to Republicans?

Well, here’s how Peter Wehner put it in his Feb. 3 Wash/Post article: Republicans like him because:

1. Obama’s speeches are eloquent and uplifting, combined with his personal grace and dignity. “By all accounts, Obama is a well-grounded, decent, thoughtful man.”

2. Obama has an unsurpassed ability to (seemingly) transcend. “Even when he disagrees with people, he doesn’t seem disagreeable.”

3. Obama is pitted against the Clintons, whom many Republicans hold in contempt. (Wehner said lots more about the GOP contempt for the Clintons, but, in the spirit of keeping the blog positive, I’ll leave it at this.)

4. Obama’s GOP appeal is also due to his “MESSAGE,” which at its core, is about unity and hope, rather than division and resentment!! He stresses that “out of many we are ONE.”

5. Obama—more than any other figure in America—can help bind up the racial wounds of America.

WOW!! These are Republicans talking about our guy. This bodes really well for Obama in the general election!!!

I support Barack Obama because he inspires me.

It seems rare to me that a leader is considered for their ability to truly inspire Americans. Even today, young people are aware of the John F. Kennedy quote: “Ask not what your Country can do for you, ask what you can do for your Country.” I think that Barack Obama really inspires today’s generation, and they are responding not just in voice and in numbers, but in action.

I believe that it is valuable to have experience in making good choices. Barack Obama has shown the judgment to “get it right” from day one.

I believe that we’re thirsty for inspiration – not just we Americans. The entire world needs to be inspired to work together toward common goals instead of fighting about differences. Barack Obama inspires the world.

Barack Obama can win against the Republicans. His inspiration extends even to many Republican voters, which should highlight how effective “Inspiration” is.

My eating habits are off, my body is aching, my house is a mess, but, Obama said "change would not be easy" I just think about the people like my dad who is now 90, and struggled through the depression. Or, the people who suffered through the civil rights movement. Then I sit back and smile and say "Yes I can" This is a moment in time, a moment in history, that I want to be a part of.

Now that's what I call focus! Canvassing is a great workout, especially in my precinct which is really hilly and some folks have super steep, long driveways (it's not what you think of when you imagine Iowa), but I see you're in IL so I guess that's not an option, unless you fly in for the privilege. But walking around while on the phone, especially when you get into one of the more animated conversations, also gets me FIRED UP!

Great job with all the calls. I stopped calling ME due to apprehension that folks were being WAY over-called (and that guy who told the story of the poor mom whose daughter had died and he was the 3rd Obama supporter calling to ask her to caucus--we need a button to have some numbers removed from this list asap!--really got me), but your experience is such outstanding proof of its value.

CNN just reported Hillary's previous manager (resigned today) was replaced because she did not return phone calls (some to superdelegates) and had problems managing funds (Hillary had to loan herself $5M). So much for being able to "manage" this government as she stated in an earlier debate. What we need is not just another manager who might put in place people who cannot do the job...we need a leader who can inspire their people to care and be motivated to get it done....for the team and for the good of everyone. Check the cash on hand for the Obama campaign - we need more for the month ahead...I don't make that much, but every payday I either write a check or log on and contribute at least an average of $25 bi-weekly. I wish everyone would pledge a tithe from their May tax rebate to take us to the convention and beyond.

CNN just reported Hillary's previous manager (resigned today) was replaced because she did not return phone calls (some to superdelegates) and had problems managing funds (Hillary had to loan herself $5M). So much for being able to "manage" this government as she stated in an earlier debate. What we need is not just another manager who might put in place people who cannot do the job...we need a leader who can inspire their people to care and be motivated to get it done....for the team and for the good of everyone. Yes, its called leadership!!!!

Thanks for your concern. But, as Jess pointed out, those are old numbers. It doesn't take into account the $32million we donated in January alone, or the however many million we've already given in February--maybe $15 million by this point? we did over $6mil in the 24 hours after Super Tuesday alone. If folks want to keep donating (I did it again today--it's turning into a reflex: wake up, feed kids, donate to Barack!), that's wonderful, it makes us that much stronger and better equipped to provide the campaign with what it needs. But this alarmism is unfounded.

all over the place
They have become so uncompromisingly biased that its become blatant and embarrassing.
They should simply endorse HRC,while they are at it.
Don't they have a moral duty to at least report the news.

Regarding Ohio, there was an article in the nytimes today about how Secretary of State Jennifer L Brunner, Democrat, wants to get everybody who wants one A PAPER BALLOT in touch screen dominated Ohio. This will only cost 68,000 dollars, but "some state officials" have legally challenged her on it, so that right now she is legally not allowed to go ahead and provide those ballots. The touch screens are hackable, and after the 2004 election there were some indictments of Ohio state officials for manipulating the vote so as to avoid an official recount. i wonder why these state officials would challenge her on something as straightforward as providing paper ballots, to the point of taking it to court? Sounds strange. It is imperative that there is a fair vote in Ohio!

this is exactly right. We need to be on this. I believe the machines were messed with in NH, and the sham custody of ballots ensures that we will never know. Ohio already has a history of problems. More of us need to look into it. I encourage everyone, especially those who live in OH, to contact blackboxvoting.org to see what we can do to help minimize the likelihood of voter fraud.

AUGUSTA, Maine - Barack Obama defeated Hillary Rodham Clinton in the Democratic Party's Maine caucuses on Sunday, grabbing a majority of delegates as the state's Democrats overlooked the snowy weather and turned out in heavy numbers for municipal gatherings.

With 70 percent of the participating precincts reporting, Obama had 57 percent of the vote, while Clinton had 42 percent.

Colin Johnson, an Obama supporter, said the Illinois senator is not a typical politician. “I’m convinced he’s a once-in-a-generation leader,” he said.

“He’s young and energetic and Washington and the White House could benefit from some fresh air,” said Joe Lewis, another Obama supporter.

Thousands of people packed the Bangor Auditorium to hear Obama on Saturday and hundreds more who weren’t allowed inside greeted him as he arrived.

I agree with many here about the bias case against Obama and very pro Clinton. I think everyone here knows that Clinton(lite Republica) is part of the establishment. I really think Obama's management team is aware of this. Did anyone catch the shot that Obama put across the bow of CNN at the last debate. Wold Blitzer asked a question and Sen Obama replied that he would put the information on CSPAN so the people could be informed what was going on. Wolf Blitzer acted as if his favorite teddy bear was being taken and he asked what about this network(CNN). Obama again replied that he would get the information out on CSPAN. I think CNN knows they may not get the choice interviews with an Obama presidency. Giving information to the people in some cirlces is something that can not be tolerated. This may explain part of the reason CNN is not giving Obama any breaks.

My computer went down around the first of the year and we ended up, after waiting forever for a part to come UPS so, I now have a rented computer to write on right now. We are fighting with the place for the part to get here. Anyway, not going to talkabout that.
I was reading Andrew Sullivan and he posted this tonight.
A republican posted a comment on Politico why he is supporting Obama.
I'm sure you guys have heard the current whisper campaign by the Hillary camp that we are a cult and think of Obama as God. Right.
Good for laugh.
Anyway, This guy explains what it is that is really driving the movement behind Obama. He restores our belief and love of our country and makes us realize we can be a great and good force again in the world.
And we know with someone who can so effortlessly put together the most amazing and effective ground organization in less than a year, this is someone who can accomplish the great things that need to be done to repair our ailing country.
What is driving this campaign are people who love their country and want to believe in it again and know the best person to guide our country away from the abyss is Barack.

There are lots of Republicans voting for Barack.

According to Joe Scarborough, former Republican member of Congress and now a host on MSNBC, he is inundated with e-mails from his Republican friends praising Obama after each of his “big time” speeches.

In addition to Joe Scarborough, other Republicans like Bill Bennett, Peggy Noonan, Rich Lowry and Pete Wehner also like Obama.

Wehner, a Bush Administration official, said a number of prominent Republicans—who would wage a pitched battle against “Hillary Clinton”—like Obama and would find it hard to generate much enthusiasm in OPPOSING him.

So, what’s Obama’s appeal to Republicans?

Well, here’s how Peter Wehner put it in his Feb. 3 Wash/Post article: Republicans like him because:

1. Obama’s speeches are eloquent and uplifting, combined with his personal grace and dignity. “By all accounts, Obama is a well-grounded, decent, thoughtful man.”

2. Obama has an unsurpassed ability to (seemingly) transcend. “Even when he disagrees with people, he doesn’t seem disagreeable.”

3. Obama is pitted against the Clintons, whom many Republicans hold in contempt. (Wehner said lots more about the GOP contempt for the Clintons, but, in the spirit of keeping the blog positive, I’ll leave it at this.)

4. Obama’s GOP appeal is also due to his “MESSAGE,” which at its core, is about unity and hope, rather than division and resentment!! He stresses that “out of many we are ONE.”

5. Obama—more than any other figure in America—can help bind up the racial wounds of America.

WOW!! These are Republicans talking about our guy. This bodes really well for Obama in the general election!!!

I wonder how the Clinton campaign is going to spin this defeat in Maine. Probably the large turnout of African-American voters in Maine cities. I have to admit that about 20 of the 428 votes in my caucus were African Americans. Also the lobster fishing was so good at this time of the year, that all her supporters were working on the high seas today and couldn’t caucus. I also think Jesse Jackson ran a good campaign here in 84.

I live in Maine and yes there has been a relatively large influx of African immigrants from the Sudan and Somalia. I am not sure what the attraction is, but it is definitely true. CNN was going for the triple here - African, Muslim and Obama supporter.

A turning point for me today with regard to my political involvement over the years. As an independant I finally found someone inspiring, someone who can lead the charge of change in Washington...and today I registered as a Democrat to attend the caucus here in Kennebunk. I was a tad bit concerned initially that there might actually be more supporters for Hillary but I was thrilled when the split took place as it was immediately obvious that the vast majority were attending for the same reason as I was...to ensure that Barack Obama won Maine. Way to go, Maine! This victory, while in a small state, may be very significant. Given the demographics of Maine, this win suggests that Obama may be finally cutting into Clinton's core constituencies. Potentially big news.

Also, as a native New Englander, I was disappointed to see the region going to Clinton, with the notable exception of Connecticut. Glad to see Obama making headway there.

Yep, demographically, we should be Hillary Country: we're 97.something percent white, we have an older-than-average population with a lot of seniors. We're mostly blue collar and rank 32nd out of 50 states in terms of income. We have a TON of women voters, and we have a track record of electing women (to the Senate, at least). We're a beer state, not a wine state.

And yet? Not so much.

Let me offer this advice, in the best possible spirit:

Regarding your comment that "Before you make your decisions based on emotion over intellect" (aimed at Obama supporters), did it occur to you that this might be construed as an insult and, moreover, not have any basis in fact?

I, for example, have undergraduate and law degrees from some of the top colleges in the US. And I graduated near the top of my class both times. I hate to come across as conceited, but you can imagine that I, for one, might find it more than a little insulting to be told that my support for Obama is based purely on "emotion" and cannot be rationally supported.

If you support Clinton--or someone else--the great. That is your right. But you will do far more for your candidate by supporting him or her with good, thoughtful, and supporting arguments than by engaging in ad hominem attacks toward a candidate you don't support.

I'm wary of the Clinton's deceptiveness. Their political agenda is founded in the lessons from the "Art of War".

The Clinton's thrive on deceiving the poor and defenseless - pitting them against each other and then acting as their saviour.

They will pit Latino citizens against African American citizens without overtly race baiting - as Mr. Clinton was exposed doing in South Carolina.

Their calculation is to use Latino americans to slow Mr. Obama down in Texas, share Ohio and Pennsylvania, and then take the election through Super Delegate back room deals.

Mr. Obama must win a mandate to stop this tactic. American citizens must be exposed to this deception.

The only way to stop them is to expose their tactics - they will be forced to risk dividing the democratic party and this country beyond repair. Not even the Clinton's will risk that option - I hope and pray.

So in general I think CNN has some of the most extensive and balanced political coverage out there, however tonight, after Barack Obama swept the weekend, winning his fourth contest in a row, CNN felt that a story about "how to pick up girls" and a James Brown investigative report was more important than talking about the momentum we have for change! Just because Hillary's people framed this as "expected" doesn't mean its any less significant. That's like saying, "well, we expect Barack will get more delegates and win the nomination..." and somehow that would make it an insignificant feat because it was expected. No one expected Barack to be doing this well last year, last month, last week. How is it all of a sudden "expected"? How is this not a big story, CNN?

CNN, FOX AND MSNBC dropped the ball completely today!! CNN was more focused on Hil, most of the day and did give the numbers for Maine, but that was it!! Fox and MSNBC ran other programming this afternoon!! Fox did make a short announcement on their 6:00 news - that was it!! MSNBC was running some documentary!! And I thought it was interesting that MSNBC ran an old Hillary/Bill life story documentary several times over the week-end!! In my opinion, and mine only, on some level EVERY ONE OF THESE STATIONS has been biased in their coverage of this campaign!! But you know what -- That is fine with me!! Joshua Chamberlain is a hero of mine. Would love to tour his home someday--I understand it's open.

For those of you who prefer movies, see "Gettysburg," Jeff Daniels play's Chamblain brilliantly. Ken Burns also spent quite a lot of footage on Chamberlain in "The Civil War."

Basically, this college professor saved the battle of Gettysburg, and probably the Union with his heroism.

We caucused in my small town this evening...200 people attended in our small town of 1500...despite blowing snow and nasty driving conditions. There were wonderful, heartfelt exhortations for both Senators Clinton and Obama.

In the end, Obama supporters outnumbered those of Clinton 2 to 1. It was a good night to be an American...a cheerful night to be a Democrat...and a proud night to be a supporter of Barack Obama.

I will now send e-mail to Edwards to endorse Obama. I am a little disappointed with Edwards and have a really bad feeling that he might endorse Hilarly. I hope I am wrong but I cannot help thinking that he would have endorsed Obama before Super Tuesday if he wanted to endorse Obama. Due to lack of Obama signage in several places, I put together a couple signs that are similar to ones I have seen around. I will provide links below.

First let me say that I am not trying to take any money away from the Unions that produce the Obama signage. I am providing links to these signs to allow someone who is not able to purchase one in time for their states primary or caucus to be able to show their support for Barack. I donated my time to create them. Please donate to the campaign if you use these.

I only did 63 total calls (three different states), but it looks like the people that reached beyond their comfort zone truly helped get the word out and another fantastic win for Barack. I am really hoping for 60%, but we will have to wait till all the votes are in.

Get some good sleep tonight and be ready to help out tomorrow if you can. We must not get complacent, there is still much work to do. I took Friday off from my job and I might just take tomorrow off as well (my boss is an understanding Obama supporter). Sweet dreams everyone.

I noticed that three superdelegates from my state (COLORADO) are not yet supporting a candidate and I am going to email and call them and ask them to support Barak Obama. I ask all folks from CO to call them as well (Udall, Ritter, and Salazar) and I encourage others in other states to look at the list of uncommitted superdelegates and start writing, emailing or calling. thanks for the info. I'm glad Finland is for Obama, especially since I am Finnish-American (and my sister's son happens to be names Aleksi).

If you think about it whoever is president of the US does things that affect the whole world. I've noticed all my Russian friends are eager for Obama to win.

I'm so relieved to hear that Obama won Maine. I tried to go up and canvass all weekend, but they never contacted me (after I got a form e-mail fight after I volunteered). I think the state organization needs to learn how to do it's business.

Some of the people from Maine have been reporting on the truly HEROIC things they did to help Obama win. I wish the state organizers had been as resoursful. I'd love to hear what you all think. Why wasn't I contacted and told to show up at X address in Y town.

Does anyone have the demographic percentages from the vote in Louisiana? My understanding is that all of the media have proclaimed that Obama only got 24% white vote which somehow is evidence of a weakness in the campaign (despite all the states that are predominantly white that have gone for him...e.g. Maine, Nebraska, Iowa). But I've heard the percentage of white voters for Obama was much higher than 24% in LA. It would be good to know so that we can punch the daylights out of the media know-it-alls. Any help, please?

Really proud of my little town of No, Berwick Me. We had the largest turnout ever at least twice that of 2004.It was a family affair with a well lighted clean voting place and every thing run fairly. All were allowed to speak and the votes counted accuately and fairly with delegates on each side watching..The count was 82 folks for Barack.. 42 folks for Hillary and five uncommitted. A 7 to 4 delegate split.

Things were very different in our nieghboring town Lebanon Me.,where I went to witness the vote count. I witnessed the caucus administrators allowing people to vote for Clinton at the last minute without them registering properly.The town register had left for the day. Also ballots for Barack that were not signed... (a requirement they came up with at the last minute after it was apparent that Barack had won) were not counted. This gave an extra delegate to Clinton after you did the "new math". The count after the ballots were shuffled in Clinton favor was 35 for Clinton and 29 for Obama..A 6 to 6 delagate split became a 7 to 5 delegate split. "Shame, Shame" I guess these folks will have to live with cheating the tide of history.

This is why its so important to get your five fellows and friends to turn out and win by large margins. For folks taking the time to go out and vote or causus in MD,VA,DC,OH and TX. Don't take anything for granted.. KEEP YOUR EYE ON THE BALLOTS at all times and good luck ..

btw, Sen. Obama mentions no difference between the red, white and blue states of America and refers to each state as part of the "United State of America". Yet the press release of his win in Maine talks about his ability to win in "Red", "Blue" and "Purple" states, seemingly indicates the existence of these states on a map (haven't found them on US Gov website on the map of America).

To lump states into color-coded political leanings is demeaning as it is to have a color coded security alerts and be frisked at the airport. Call your opponent for who they are, not some all fitting moniker that dehumanizes a lump of humanity into "them".

What I can tell you is that I've noticed, the enthusiasm of the Obama supporters that I've been surrounded by these last few weeks.
Whether it's canvassing, waiving signs, or just chatting about Obama, people I've met seem happy. They're smiling again. Nice to see he has touched so many people.

We drove an hour and a quarter to get to Bangor. The region has a population of 40,000. We got in line 40 minutes before the doors opened and it was already about a mile long. To see 10,000 people just show up and quietly queue in the February cold was amazing. We were some of the last ones let in.

At the caucus today we filled the venue, ran out of forms, but figured it out. Again, there was a quiet, overwhelming support for Obama.

Something bigger than all of us is happening.

Thanks Maine, you made it complete. A total sweep of the weekend.

Now instead of relaxing a little, we have to press on even harder.

I've been moving here in Maryland. I called Louisiana, Washington, and Maine.

Saturday, I was at the Towson HQ phone banking when a call came in that Madeline Albright was speaking at the Islamic Society of Baltimore in Woodlawn. A number of us mobilized immediately. We arrived with signs and stickers, adding to our numbers and nearly matching the visible presence of the Clinton supporters (there were even a couple of people with Paul signs?).

While calm and subdued, it was also poweful and thrilling.

Today, my two kids (girl 12, boy 8) and I distributed issues flyers that we printed from the action center to almost 50 homes in my neighborhood in Randallstown.

I'll also be at the rally with Barack tomorrow in downtown Baltimore.

I'm predicting a sweep in the Potomac primaries, but keep calling friends. We can't take anything for granted, especially Virginia. We're rolling, let's keep it going.

Boy do I have a great story to tell! I could just cry! Please keep in mind that this is the FIRST time I ever did something like this. From about 11am till about 6pm today in Baltimore, Maryland I was outside on two of the busiest streets routing for Barack Obama with signs reminding people about Tuesday in Maryland. I even picked up a supporter to help me out along the way. Maybe one of you saw us. "Honk for OBAMA!" You wouldn't believe how many people honked out there! It was like a musical!!!!! A complete stranger who drove past and saw the excitement stood outside with me in the blistering cold to help me show the people that we can do this!! He even took me to Walgreens to get more posters! We just have to show people that supporters ARE out there willing to do WHATEVER it takes. I've donated, phone banked, and campaigned from him ever since he won Iowa. Let it be known that I was a Clinton supporter. I am so glad that I saw the light! I plan to be outside tomorrow with my signs, going to the rally downtown where he will be, and continuing to call the locals. If anyone lost ANY faith in this election, the THOUSANDS of supportive drivers today really showed me that it really is time for change! YES WE CAN!!! MAN, I AM FIRED UP NOW!!!!

Oh, take heart, Toni, because at our regional organizing meeting last week, I met an 83-year-old woman and a significant number of other retirees -- including some from a county I thought might never vote for anyone but a white male, imagine that! -- so you are not alone.

It is so amazing. There were more white supporters at that meeting, even though we were in a "black" church. And there were college students and even one 17-year-old from my high school who was among those who pushed Barack into the campaign.

This campaign is truly historic. We have a chance to make something truly special happen here.

Look for a special endorsement from former Senator John Edwards to endorse Sen. Barack Obama
on Monday afternoon.

This will give additional (BIG MO) for him to win Ohio, Texas, Vermont and Rhode Island!!!
If these state would fall to Clinton, Michigan and Florida would not have no effect for his nomination, superdelegates would follow suit!!!

Where did you get this information, Willie? I was an Edwards supporter, naturally, being from North Carolina. But like apparently many other Edwards supporters, I have fully embraced the Obama campaign. To me, it's not so much about whether Edwards (now not a factor) or Obama wins as it is that serious change occurs.

I suddenly had some inspiration to start writing some lyrics to a song while I was dusting the dining room tonight. The inspiration came from the incredible momentum that picked up with Super Tuesday and now is becoming nearly impossible to stop!

As with most of my songs, I get an idea or a verse and then go back and develop it after I let it incubate. I hope to take it down to my basement studio and cut a demo; perhaps somebody can use it. Let me know if you think it has promise...

I really believe that Obama's win had a lot to do with early absentee ballots. I, who pride myself on keeping up with current events, did not know that we could do absentee caucus ballots in Maine. After receiving the reminder e-mail that Obama sent out, I immediately did my absentee ballot (that way I was guaranteed that I had voted no matter what).

This is an excellent way to get people to vote (caucus or primary) ahead of time. Please consider using it for all of the states.

We have just learned that the republicans would hold evidence overpowering against the democratic candidate Hillary Clinton. Indeed, Hillary Clinton had the image of a cold and inhuman woman. American kept in memory the icy attitude of Hillary at the time of “Monica gate”or Affaire Monica Lewinsky. For her advisers, Hillary was to give the impression to be a woman more human, tender, and sensitive to the emotion like a normal woman. From where the idea of this supposed simulation, before the caucus in New Hampshire. For recall, during an interview, Hillary Clinton hid with difficulty sobs while acknowledging that the electoral campaign was extremely difficult. If it actually simulated these sobs then “cheer the artist”. This lady would deserve in this case an Oscar of the best female role in Hollywood! Remainder, we did not forget the tears and the giggles (simulated or not) of Bill Clinton when it was with the businesses…
It is undeniable that the race with the democratic nomination was completely started again after this supposed comedy of Hillary.

Always according to the same source, the republicans moreover will centre their attacks on the fact that the President of the USA must be the only “Master on board”. But, in the event of victory of Hillary Clinton, the USA are likely to find themselves with two Presidents instead of one, because of the presence, omnipresence, not to say the omnipotence of Bill Clinton in the wakes of his wife. Indeed, Bill Clinton seems more and more a tutor, a “super coach” with the service of the future candidate at the White House. Thus the image of the President of the USA will be weakened with the eyes of the world and, the American leadership in the control of the businesses of the world is likely to suffer from it.

Considering the risk of a return of the crank in the event of victory of Hillary Clinton at the time of these primary elections, the democratic voters are consequently condemned to make the good choice,

I just want to say that I am a bit concerned that if this race continues on to the convention and the super Delegates choose the nominee I am going to be one pissed off Democrat! Especially if they don't choose the person with the most REGULAR delegates. Is anyone else feeling the same?

BTW, did you all hear that Barack is meeting with John Edwards today? (he met with Hillary last week). I really hope that we can get him on our team! He was also a great and inspiring candidate.

HRC's campaign is not as bad as she would like to make us believe. They are just palying expectation games. They wanted to blunt our wins during the weekend, even if it had to be a bad news from them. Then, God forbids, if she were to win in TX, everybody ( the Clinton's owned media) will be saying that she has stayed strong and held her ground.

I think we should all e-mail John Edwards at his website, johnedwards.com and ask for his support and endorsement. Edwards has been talking with both campaigns and I'm guessing a decision is coming soon. If Clinton were to get that endorsement it could really hurt this momentum.

I am sooooo proud of my state! I had the pleasure of taking my 17 year old son to see Senator Obama Saturday, and it was truly amazing. As a result of that rally he insisted on going to the caucus yesterday. This just proves what kind of impact the senator has on our future!
