Barack Obama won a clear majority of the Super Tuesday states...
In the closest thing to a national primary we’ve ever seen, Barack Obama overcame double-digit leads by Senator Clinton in 8 of the largest 10 states to win a majority of states, defeating Senator Clinton 13-8 – with New Mexico still undeclared.
Obama also won Red States by a margin of more than two-to-one and leads Senator Clinton by nearly 50 delegates going into California.
Obama won his home state by 67 delegates (110-43; 153 total). Clinton won her home state by 52 delegates (142-90; 232 total). Among home states, Obama won a net delegate margin of 15. That’s a good number – but even more impressive when you consider that New York had 79 more delegates up for grabs than Illinois.
Barack Obama performed especially well in those states he visited in recent weeks, including Minnesota, Utah, Idaho, Delaware, and Connecticut. He also won his home state by 67 delegates, 15 more than Senator Clinton won her home state of New York by. This is further proof that the more voters get to know Barack Obama and hear his message, the more they support him. And this bodes well for the contests coming in the next few weeks, where Obama will have more time to campaign aggressively in individual states.
Of the seven caucus states that were decided tonight, Obama won six (New Mexico is still undeclared). Caucuses test the enthusiasm of supporters in a way that primaries do not. And Obama’s near-sweep of these contests shows why he’s the candidate who’s generating the most excitement in this race and bringing new people into politics for the first time.
Barack Obama won the support of Americans of every race and gender in every region of the country. From Hillary Clinton’s backyard in Connecticut to Georgia, where Obama won nearly 40% of the white vote and eliminated the gender gap by winning 64% of the women’s vote, Obama demonstrated that he’s the one candidate who can transform the electoral map. That’s why he is the Democrat who’s most likely to win in November.

Important! California is missing up to 250k Obama votes!
I did a lot research after learning about the massive voting problem in CA's primary. I have as close to empirical data as one can get without having the ballots to review:
1 in 5 people who voted in the Dem primary were "Decline to State" (non partisan).
Those people supported Obama over Clinton 2-1.
A large number, based on both reports on the web, media, SoS and individual complaints suggests a large number of those DtS voters were disenfranchised by the "double bubble" on the ballot, with no instruction and noninformed poll workers. This little trick seemed to affect more than a simple minority of voters... it may have been affected more than half of them.
Do the math... 20% of the voters overall, with a 2-1 favor for Obama. That nets Obama about another 250k+ votes. That makes it quite tight. That is assuming that it affected all DtS voters though. However, if you notice as the counting went forward, after word had gotten out late in the night, the margin started closing, which supports the idea that there is massive disenfranchisement.
This would bring things more in line with the polling.

Don't forget we can also do the phonebank for those states that are next in the voting process!! The campaign needs manpower as much as it needs money. It's really convenient to access a list via computer, sit in your PJs with a cup of coffee and make calls on Obama's behalf. And we keep Barack's costs down by making calls from our home phones instead of him needing more people on his paid staff to do that.

I always figured CA would go for Hillary in a larger percent due to the early voting. I hate early voting. It's not fair to voters and not fair to candidates. I'd liked to know the percentages of "live" voters. BTW, why does MSNBC keep putting Florida in Hillary's list of state wins????? We should email them and let them know that NOBODY won Florida nor Michigan.
I wish I could donate today, but I'm tapped out until Friday -- then I will give, give, give. I can eat soup for this pay period so that I can eat cake for the rest of my life.

Don't forget that there were a million absentee votes cast by mail before Obama started his surge. When you include the almost 200,000 for Edwards, Obama would have done better if people had waited to vote on election day rather than by mail. It makes sense to vote by mail during November but not during the primary.

I have been to American Samoa, but I wouldn't even presume to know anything about their politics. However, I have also lived in Hawaii and I will tell you that American Samoa and Hawaii are very very different. Mentioning American Samoa in the news post SC (which likely rarely happens), may have given Senator Clinton some kind of edge. Its been a long time since I've been to Hawaii, but I think it will go Obama.

The only thing clear is the count started with Obama down many points to come to a small led for Obama of few votes that is so far a tie... 48-48 I would love the tendency continues. An important thing is that Obama did rally there recently.
California has a lot of absentee ballots done even when Edwards was in. Also Latinos didnot really came, nor asians. Probably Obama won with those who voted today. 25% voted absentee.

Team,
I think we have to put things into perspective here and something has to be done by the Obama campaign in the MSM to confront this issue:
1) When the smear campaign in IA and NH started with the emails about Obama's religion and when the smear about his position on pro-choice was falsely circulated around this country - those 2 things continued in FL, CA, NJ, MA and other key states long before the SC primary and it was calculated by the time the rest of the "stuff" hit the fan right before the SC primary. What I have gathered is that those lies translated to MI, FL, CA, MA, NJ, NY and other key states to garner wins. Unless a major effort is made by going on the MSM stations and confronting this head-on, people in future states that will vote will not know that these lies are being perpetuated JUST TO WIN.
It goes back to saying and doing anything to win an election.
While MSM has gone on to other things in the news cycle, people are still being convinced "secretly" that these lies are true.
The Obama Truth Squad has to step it up on all fronts!
So, that's what's REALLY going on and MSM will not point that out - - and perhaps they don't know the lies are still being used as very effective weapons to win primaries against Obama.

The early reporting was of the mail-in ballots counted over the last week. They were hesitant to call the numbers based on the exit polling until they saw that margin. Clinton's strategy of encouraging early voting worked like a charm (same strategy in New Hampshire). That being said, even with the most favorable delegate count out of California, MSNBC is predicting that Obama will lead in delegates earned tomorrow (Clinton still leads with super delegates). Donate money if you can. Senator Obama is going to need it.

What was a bummer on California, is they would not let us vote on a Democratic ballot because they had us down as a Libertian...I ask for a Dem ballot but was denied so we wrote his name in best we could do.
They said there was several people saying the same thing, I was mad..I forgot to say hi to my friends mom as she was a volunteer (sorry)
Anyways the just showed on the news others complaining in Riverside county..I'm in LA County.
He lost a lot of votes I'm sure from California's methods.

Same thing happened to me...they had me down as registered Green party! I've never even entertained the thought of registering Green, and on top of that, I'm a Precinct Captain for Obama! I was so upset I almost cried. I've been waiting for this vote all year (my whole life, it seems!), and I feel like my rights have been hijacked.
I filed a provisional ballot, but I doubt my vote will count because they produced a fax that had my signature on it. I'm telling you, I would NEVER have knowingly registered Green!!! I've been Democrat my whole voting life...

More ballot trouble in California reported on KABC 7 in Los Angeles...They had coverage from Norwak, Ca. and the double bubble that people that were lucky enough to get a Dem ballot had to mark the bubble on top of the ballot for it to be counted.
Other reports said some polls ran out of ballots and people had to use sample paper ballots.

Barack is now a FULL EQUAL to the Clintons! Every American and especially every Democrat will now know and Believe Obama can Win. That was always our weakness with Democrats. We are now past that.
That is for sure, but we have momentum by coming from behind.
We will continue to raise more money.
I just got out my Discover card though I'll soon be maxed out for primary, my wife isn't.
We are winning all across Purple and Red America. We of course would win in Blue America. Obama will drill that message home every day now. We can win in November!!!!
Next step is to get some major Endorsements for those on the fence.
We may SWEEP this weekend's five contests which with our money advantage should lead to sweep for rest of February.
If we Sweep rest of February (10 contests), can anyone not make Obama the clear favorite?

Hillary's plan: if it's so good, why does Michael Moore, "Mr. Universal Healthcare" appear to endorse Obama on his website?
I want Gore.
I want Obama on MTV.
I want Spanish bands to do like the Black Eyed Peas did... JLO, JLO is someone who would rock this.
We've got to start thinking about how to show the light to Hillary's camp. Celebrity endorsements help with Latinos, for so many vote based off of this name recognition business (I do not believe they vote because of Bill's treatment of them -- maybe it's only my area, but most have not lived here for a terribly long time... some have for longer but tend to be young.)
Someone get JLO on the line and others like her!

Feel free to use the following as something of a template! What do you think?
My name is _______. I am a mother/father of (insert children), living in _____, __, and am a __-year ______ Employee. This Presidential campaign cycle has taken my normal level of participation and commitment (which is considerable) and raised it through the roof!
The stakes are high. Our troubles at home and abroad are as compelling as they are complex. We need to select a President who can fundamentally alter the direction of the nation. We need not only a new set of chess pieces, we need an entirely new board upon which to play the game!
I am writing you this note in hope that I convince you to declare your super delegate support for Senator Barack Obama. Obama's life and political experience make him the strongest candidate at this particular moment in history to become President and provide the leadership we need at home and abroad. He is demonstrating the capacity for creating a new and powerful democratic majority; one that can win in "red states" as well as "blue states"...and perhaps more importantly, one that can create GAINS in the thin congressional majorities that now exist. Barack will have coat tails that Hillary will not have due to her inherent polarizing nature.
Given the fact that the differences between Barack and Hillary in terms of policy are small, one must consider who will best bring about change in the way our country is GOVERNED. One campaign likes to define change nearly singularly in terms of gender. However, consider this:
It's not about the gender or the race of the Captain that predicts the success of any vessel's voyage. It's about the ability of the captain to inspire his crew and navigate a course with wisdom and unity of purpose. Only one candidate is looking past race and gender and concentrating on our voyage...that candidate is Barack Obama. He will win the nomination because the American people sense his purpose is not informed solely by defining CHANGE by race or gender, but by leading with mind, heart and spirit.
I strongly urge you to declare your super delegate support to Barack Obama!
Feel free to call me, or E-mail me if you wish to discuss my letter.

I was annoyed that they didn't mention Asians in the vote. That's absurd. They mentioned whites, latinos, and blacks. And what about Jews, are Jews "whites" now? My yiddish grandmother who has her doctorate in physics would get really miffy about that. And she voted Obama, where's the love from the media. We are white, black, or brown?
Those are colors, those aren't even ethnicities. And so what. Why are they bothering to tell us. They didn't tell us how gay voters voted? Or Native Americans.
I find this kind of checkbox mentality stifling and nonproductive. It limits us as human beings and is something to ultimately just plain overcome. Unity for us all.

Jing,
Thanks for your support with Asians and hopefully with hispanics in Texas. Key thing is to find out what "fears" have been placed into them about Obama because I'm finding more and more that people have been lied to about him and no one has gone behind to "probe" for the real concerns they have. I wouldn't bring up any of the false info, but see if they will bring it up and then provide them with the facts/the truth.
Everyone's busy getting the policy papers to them, but I think we need to share the inspirational message AND also try to find out and dispel any myths they may have heard in the underground. That's what I will be doing from now on.
This is critical as we move forward and we have to provide the. For example, start by sharing Obama's religion and his Christian church affiliation and show the evidence. Then show his pro-choice stance and the evidence. Since these 2 areas seem to continue to crop up and do damage to us in the primaries, I hope you can help explain those 2, so that you will have their minds more open to where he stands on all of the other important issues to the American people.

The early CA returns were pre-counted absentees, mostly older voters.
Be prepared though, we're going to lose CA - but by a much smaller margin that the early returns show.
What really burned us is that so many Edwards voters were REALLY fired up for him, and they voted months ago so that they could work to get their vote out today, like a lot of us.
In any district where Edwards doesn't get 15% their votes are basically trashed. Let's see if Senator Clinton complains about THAT disenfranchisment.

You are so correct and the message is resonating with many Americans...
...however, we've got a "perception issue" here...about debate performance...and about lies that were told prior to NH that are still percolating in EVERY subsequent primary.
....So, we ALL have a lot of work to do...and as we go back and view all of the inspirational videos, we have to also forge forcefully forward because all of the endorsements and superdelegates of recent sent a powerful message and we KNOW the opponent is not going down easy.
...so, some plans have to change going forward...and significantly more events are needed in Ohio and Texas, now that we have some time to try to go "undo damage" that was done during the SC primary.
...That's what we're up against....undoing the damage that was done by the smear campaigns in IA, NHm NV and SC....

We must keep this going and start some real conversations. Modeling the Obama movement is the best way to teach it. And once someone gets this movement, this vision, in their hearts, minds, and guts, it will spread. We have been hungry for inspiration for so long. Now is the time to unite and change the world. I am amazed. I have traveled the world; and with each year I have become more ashamed to be an American. Do I hear a whisper of pride? Would I someday salute this flag with swelling pride? I fear to hope because I don't want to go back to the cynicism that made me settle for mediocrity. I'm done. Even if Clinton somehow pulls a Rovean heist on us and she winds up in the Whitehouse, Obama has already passed his inspirational torch on to me. I'm ready to give back to my community, and now I see how to inspire others to do so as well.
Thank you Obama for so eloquently making me believe in big possibilities.
Thank you for articulating my belief in this country's potential.

We did win CA and MA...Its just how you define winning!! After all we will win the delegates that's what matters!! From 20% behind in the polls two weeks ago to almost a dead heat and even split of delegates...that is a WIN IMO.
We have 13 States to her 8
We will have equal if not more delegates than Hillary (and remember the campaign wanted us to just hang on and be within 100)
We will go into the remaining primarys/caucuses with something Hillary can't create, Money, Momentum and a Message that brings people to us!! (I've found the more people hear Hillary the less likely they are to vote for her, the opposite is true of Barack, we just need the time, volunteers and money to spread our message...we will have that with the upcoming elections)
We may loose the popular vote in CA....but I won't count on that yet...Barack's % is rising as I type...and if/when we do loose CA it wont be a full loss, we'll have a good share of the delegates and it won't be due to a lack of momentum but rather a large and I mean large absentee ballot return (Over 1 million I believe) that were sent in weeks ago, before he had the opportunity or momentum in the state!
Keep all this is mind...and realize we did win tonight, no doubt about it!!!!
If CNN and/or MSNBC wanna give the kudos to Hillary let them.....She has hit the "ceiling" on her campaign viability, while we continue to exceed our own expectations tonight....I don't know about you, but I like being the underdog...*grin*
(Also remember to check the numbers you see flashed on MSNBC and CNN...often the ones posted include the Superdelegates as well, and we know Hillary has about 80 or so more pledged supers than Barack, not just the Popular vote. If you go by popular vote alone we win, especially if you count the 20 some point lead we had going into today from the previous states)

Barack Obama was down by over 30 points in MA as recently as two weeks ago. We cut into that lead significantly. The northeast was Clinton country, she had established connections working hard for her. Our strenghts are in the heartlands, the south, and northwest. The states coming up are mostly in these areas. Clinton won the states she was supposed to win, and we won states that were tossups. We also won Connecticut, a state next to NY--as well as winning 40% of NY, which is incredible. The only thing we had to do this week was stay close, and in fact, we won more states, very close on the delegate count, and won significant states where the democrats will need to win in the fall to win the presidency. CA was a state we would love to have won that could have effectivley ended the competition tonight, but we did very well there, and we are going to come out with a lot of delegates. Hillary's built in advantages have pretty much evaporated after this week, we are not competing on our home turf :)

I'm sorry for yelling, but that's a big deal. How can you not carry your state with at least 60% How can you claim to be a national candidate when you can't win by a larger percentage than you won in Michigan with no other names on the ballot. Come on! Only Hillary's surrogates--CNN, MSNBC, NBC, ABC, CBS and Fox--could make a big deal of a candidate winning their own state and by a bare majority. Also, can they please stop saying Senator Obama has a Latino problem. No, Latinos are the ones with the problem if they are voting against their own interests out of blind bigotry. I admire the Senator so much for putting so much of his capital on the line by supporting drivers licenses for illegal immigrants. I'm sorry, Senator, but they are NOT worth the risk if they are going to perpetuate the same bigotry against you that they decry is being committed against them.

We will not win over the Latino community by expressing negativity...Its not supportive of Obama's campaign or message. I understand you may feel discouraged, but look at the fact, we really did win tonight and slowly but surely we are building a momentum that will bring those voters to us. We didn't have much time, but in a little less than two weeks Barack's popularity in the Hispanic community has grown quite a bit.
Please keep it positive and don't resort to a message of intolerance and hate.
More than likely your a troll, if not I hope I've impressed upon you the importance of staying true to Obama's intent and message of Unity and Hope.

Latinos are NOT bigots. Any working person in Los Angeles knows that we all have diverse workplaces, we all go to each others Cookouts, we go to each others wedding.
Latinos here voted for Bradley over and over in overwhelming numbers, and when the term "bradley effect" was coined, it wasn't Latinos that told pollsters one thing and voted another way - they voted for a black Governor.
A lot of Latinos credit Bill with solving the last Bush recession, and think Hillary will solve this one. We have to convince them why Senator Obama is a better choice, and once we do, they'll vote for him.
Like any other group, you have to earn their votes. They aren't bigots, they're Americans just like you and me who want more of a chance to get to know the Senator.
We're tied up in New Mexico right now, where Latinos are the majority of Democrats in the State!!! Do those sound like bigots?

Dawn, your enthusiasm is great . . . but lets not stereotype and generalize. We have to show respect for others. Just because the 'majority' of a 'group' don't agree with you does not mean they don't have something to offer. Nor does it mean they are bigots.
Lets be civil, responsible, and good role models for what we believe in (finally we can believe in something real!) :)

Read my post above, NBC is GE, FOX is Murdoch (was allowed to own a by Bill Clinton, bc Murdoch was not a citizen @ the time), also many of the big companies own local stations, and many of the people who control content use to work for the Bushes/Clintons. Many of the large interest are/wer banks.....We really don't have a free and independent media (read up about Politico on source watch to see how bad the problem is).

Well I think BO can win latinos votes and close the gap a bit more.
The problem is local latino leaders, remember these people are not really in touch with national figures, they respond better to local or community leaders, SO PLZ convince your local latino leaders to endorse BO. Becoz part of the problem we have now is too many of them are endorsing the status-quo-tician.

So don't give up, we can still win Hispanic votes in Texas. In Nevada the establishment Hispanic group of the party and also in California made Hispanics blindly support HRC. Also remember NM has a sizeable Hispanic population and we could win there

There are reasons he is having difficulty winning the Latino vote, but I strongly doubt bigotry has that much to do with it. In many areas, Latinos compete with whites for jobs, and there are few black people, as in most of the South West.
There are many, many reasons and I would like to figure them out and help Latinos make reasoned choices because I suspect they don't know Barack was an immigrant (in Indonesia), or the son of an immigrant, that he co-authored the Dream ACT, or the drivers license thing (which isn't that big of a deal except as public safety, IMHO), and that Mrs. Clinton feels that the place for Latinos is as waiters or daycare workers, when Barack was working to advance people beyond those places. They don't know who he is.
He should do a BILINGUAL rally in Texas, with a translator and his Latino endorsers, that addresses some of the issues more impactfully, like education and homes, his experience feeling marginalized, his struggles, his commitment to his church (there may be discrepency because he's not Catholic) and his respect for all of those in the Latino church who attend service. His desire to help latino children advance, toward naturalization for all, and to stop NAFTA, speak to the Mexican President, and all this. Toward ending racism for all.
He should be frank and tell them he needs their help... to communicate his vision toward others.
Perhaps this could happen before Texas, a late state. I don't know, but it would be awesome.

My goodness, I feel you.
What's wrong with us?
We got early ballots, that's what's wrong with us! I would have marked off HRC too, to be honest. Because I knew who she was. Luckily, I have a messy desk and wanted to know how to vote on prop 93... so I looked in the SF Chronicle, there was Barack. Admittedly, I'd confused his name with *laugh* Osama's... so did some online research (no tv here or paper)... and wow! I found THE candidate of a century.
That's what's wrong with us. We all voted too early.
Californians. Get the heck off your permanent absentee ballots. I've never stood in a poll line longer than five minutes. No one here has a clue where the polling place even is... Cali is just so laid back.

SaSa, you are SO right. My congressional district (CD6, Sonoma County) has one of the biggest proportion of absentee ballot voters in the state, and that was a problem. Why?
Because people are just now getting involved enough to get to know Barack Obama. I found that folks who had sent in their ballots early favored Hillary, but folks who waited until the last week to vote HEAVILY favored Obama. In fact, I think we'll find a lot of absentee ballots that were just postmarked today and won't be counted until later, going favorably towards Barack.
Same with the Latino vote -- they just haven't had a chance to get to know him yet! We cannot forget that we are truly an insurgent campaign, and we are neck-and-neck with the Premier Democratic power-couple of the last two decades. What we're doing today is historic and amazing.
I had hoped upon hopes that CA would go our way after all our hard work...but it seems that the Central Valley rural voters didn't get as much exposure to Obama as we would have hoped. Plus there were lots of Green party folks who forgot to switch to vote for Barack.
That being said, I have to send out a heartfelt THANK YOU to all the California volunteers who have been working tirelessly for the past several weeks. I mean seriously, who runs a Precinct Captain system -- all neighbors calling, no robo-calls -- in the most populous state in the Union? The BARACK OBAMA MOVEMENT baby!!!! We did it the RIGHT way.

I totally agree!
Clintons name recognition is a HUGE factor (from what I hear from my brown brothas and sistahs) especially over the airwaves and for limited English speaking folk. This is also true for my Asian sistahs and brothas (a factor in Cali) that I think the Obama camp did not address as it needed to in this State.
Going forward, it is my humble opinion that Senator Obama needs to make some personal appearances (himself) in some of the bigger CA cities and have a bigger presence in Cali. Maybe host a couple of town hall meetings and rent out venues that folks w/out transportation can get to. Quite a few people (including Obama supporters here) remarked on his lack of show in the State before tonight (while other candidates made it a point to come out). Can’t blame the man though – can’t be everywhere!
Proud of this campaign and our success tonight! Remember we were behind and unknown!! That will change! Oh heck yeah we can!!!

They also have a tendency to enjoy 'being taken under wing' rather than 'ruffling feathers.'
Best bet? Get Latino role models to vocalize Obama's strengths.

How does this happen when one calls in advance and has voted consistently in previous elections at the same polling site??
Why can't this country get an online or computerized system to secure our votes? Why is this process still so... out of date? I really thought after the Florida fiasco from the previous election that we would have streamlined and updated the process. I could easily write a program to rig a Diebold machine, even if it spits out a receipt. Just program the Diebold to register one result, but print out another. Voila! Undetectable voter fraud.
As clunky and lame as it may be, paper ballots are still the way to go until we can figure out a consistent, fool-proof way to cheat-proof the system.

I am a Liberal-Republican who supports Obama. He has the passion, power, and the beautiful audacity to challenge 'The Establishment' and the citizens of this country to think and move in a different direction.
He is the future. One should never look back in life, only forward. Barack has what it takes to unite this country. That was proven on Super Tuesday. I am so tired of the same Washington people winning the Presidency. Barack is fresh, dynamic, uplifting, inspirational, knowledgable, and ready to put America back together again.
Personally, the choice is clear. You can either get caught in up trying to relive yesteryear, or live in today, the here and now and move this nation forward. That is something voters must choose between, the past or the future.
The decision to support Obama was an easy one to make. I hope others, especially after the victories he scored in Super Tuesday will recognize that Obama is a force to be reckoned with and that he is the ONLY candidate to bring all of us together and to enact serious change in Washington.

I agree Ariel,
What we're seeing now is women being sexist, voting solely based on gender.
I was always disenchanted with the idea of clinton as a candidate because I knew the only reason she was considered viable is her name recognition from her husbands administration, that just seems wrong to me on a fundamental level.

I am a 58-year-old white woman voting for Obama! If (God forbid) Hillary manages to get the nomination, I will vote Republican--whoever it is! That's how much power she has over me. I don't understand it either, but I do know that some people don't take the responsiblity of reading and researching facts and they believe what she says. I think many people still think they are going to get FREE 100% paid-for health care! Amazing.

Well, it doesn't totally surprise me, considering the other kooky stats on women these days (over 30% of anglo women in their thirties on antidepressants, a 30% and climbing cesarean rate for healthy women, majority of women on some kind of hormone-altering drug, skyrocketing cosmetic surgery....).
I know... it's frustrating to realize that a chunk of possibly intelligent female voters are stuck in a simplistic, wishful thinking about corporate lawyer and lobbyist henchwoman Hillary.
Just because a human being is in the body of a female doesn't mean she's wise, intuitive, or particularly womanly. Think of Maggie Thatcher, my gawd!
From the start, I've been clear that Barack & Michelle Obama and our movement truly holds feminist/womanist principles, and that Hillary Clinton is all about Hillary and the old boy's club, superficial at best. While I feel compassion towards her saga of being publicly humiliated by Bill's gross behavior and general infidelity, a political campaign with him in tow is just as gross!
I've met two amazing women here in Austin in the last month who are in Women's Studies, one of them a Ph.D., and they both see through the gender scam and are voting for Obama!!!
It's important to me that a person be a humane and radiant human being, not merely a gender.
And by voting for Barack, we are voting for Michelle. And she ROCKS! Talk about a woman!

Ariel,
I understand your frustration, but I will say what I have said in other posts tonight. That is this:
We are not dealing with a full deck. Women have been deceived into thinking bad things about Obam based on the smear campaign(email about religion and "ties" and pro-choice). So, don't ever believe that the only reason women are breaking for the opponent is because they have nostalgic feelings about having the "first woman president".
There is far more going on here that meets the eye and I, for one, am not being fooled. I know that deceptive practices are continuing to damage this campaign. So, they toned down the attack dog in public, but there are "others" working the lies/smears behind the scenes. One of our supporters had a very bad experience tonight at her church group meeting, as a result of this very thing and that is 1 of the ways I know this is happening.
So, let's all buckle down, work on ideas for getting Latinos, Women, Elderly Women and Asian Americans more comfy with Obama based on the truth. Too much has been done during and before SC and we have to fight this day in and day out by focusing our calls and canvassing on 1) Obama's religion and faith 2) Pro-Choice position and then get into the other experience and electability items. We have to move people past the fear by discussing and clarifying what they may not tell you is lurking in the back of their minds (i.e. politics of fear).

Va,
The question is also:
Do we know how many future primaries will have early voting? We need to be in front of the early voting states that are coming up. We have to get the truth to them about Obama's religion, position on faith and pro-choice first and foremost as priorities. Then, we can get to the economy, war, education, healthcare and other very important issues.

After reading about votes that didn't count because people weren't told to bubble Democrat or people getting the wrong ballot and not knowing it, let's all research and post as many details like this that we can find IN ADVANCE so that all our votes count in the upcoming primaries. I will be voting in March, and plan to find as many of the glitches that could invalidate my vote before going. No one could have known about these today, but now that we know, let's spread the word on here! They are bound to differ among states and counties, but we can post what we know. Anyone know of a good source site to find some of these?

Your county auditor or Secretary of State. Those are the same people that you should be asking how to get paper ballots with hand counts for ALL ELECTIONS, by the way; they are the best source of laws, and can guide you on how to get paper and hand reading. It's the only way to keep the votes from being...misplaced? Like they have been for the last two generals for sure!! blackboxvoting.org has info

...excellent...maybe sample ballots that are sent out could be a starting place for getting the BALLOT itself right!
....then the change of precincts and voter registration status....voting rights at the polling location on voting day...it is very obvious that with so many new voters coming into to the process, as a result of being inspired by Obama, we also have a learning curve to get them up quickly....which means poll workers have to know the voting rights and be informed and educated so that they can give accurate info to confused voters who did well to show up to vote for Obama....they should not then be further confused and disenfranchised.....we've got to do this Obama campaign! And we will...Yes We Can

All the stuff you posted was great, but I'm just going to offer one little semantic suggestion: maybe instead of saying "Obama won", could it be better to point out that the "Obama campaign" or "the Obama movement" won?
This is one of the very subtle but very strong differences between the Clinton campaign and the Obama movement. Hillary Clinton's message is very "Me" focused. "My experience", etc. Over here we get a stronger feeling of this being not just about Barack Obama, but about America.
Avoiding the self-indulgence of the Clinton campaign will go a long way towards winning more hearts and minds. :)

...Michael - closed primaries also mean that if people are not paying attention, they will wait too late to register as Democrats or may not realize their state's election rules...this says to me that the campaign has a lot of "informing and educating" to do with the voting population to avoid confusion and last-minute precincts changed without voters knowing.
...some voters may not have checked their registration status...we heard about this from the Northeast today...some voters may have changed addresses and have a different address on their voter registration card (hence, they need to know what that means to them) and they need help from this campaign to get all of that right BEFORE Day 1. Remember, being right on DAY 1. At this point, Day 1 is primary day or caucus day.

hears the story:
Stone Gossard and members of PJ spearheaded the recording of a new rendition of an old-school tune "Rock Around The Clock", cleverly changing the lyrical content to "Rock Around Barack".
Here's what Stone has to say about the recording:
"Hello everyone. This is a track I've been thinking about for a while. Rock Around The Clock was the first mainstream rock and roll hit in 1955 and it had a transforming effect on American music. At that time, rock and rhythm and blues music was traditionally only played on black radio. I am, by no means, an expert on the history of rock & roll, but this was a big deal. The rhythm of rock music and its energy were so overwhelming that traditional barriers of race and culture broke down with an enormous crash. So here's to new energy, rock and the breaking down of cultural barriers: Barack Around The Clock!"

I'ld expect those 16K provisionals to break obama's way and give him the election in new mexico.
Regardless the current numbers look like he would have had to have a decent draw among the hispanic community which would also be important.
Clinton is likely to attack obama's electability on the hispanic vote issue arguing critical swing states like nevada arizona new mexico florida are key in november. It's about the only decent attack line they have and a strong showing in the most hispanic state is big as a result.

According to CNN:
56 female, 44% male
Of male voters: 53% Obama, 39% Clinton
Of female voters: 47% Obama, 47% Clinton
Obama won age groups 18-49 and was only 4% behind in voters 50+
Clinton still won the latino vote it looks like by 56/43, but Obama won white voters 56/41
White voters made up 53% of electorate, latinos 34%
Interesting numbers, but had the latino vote not been as strong as it was for Clinton, Obama would have carried New Mexico by a healthy margin.
Even so, this was a state we weren't even supposed to be competing in and we have a very good shot to win it now.

We are truly in the presence of greatness. Like Barack has stated, this is "the fierce urgency of now". Tonight, Barack and all of us showed the country what determination and the desire for something new can achieve. This is a viable time in history with all of us uniting to rise above the issues that have sunken this country so low. Even when the majority of voters in some states didn't agree with us, those that did weren't far behind. Barack is more content with getting to know what the people stand for, while at the same time telling them what he stands for. We need to continue with our reciprication. What we give Barack, he'll give back to us and the rest of the country. Tonight was the first time I've donated to this campaign but I can tell you it won't be the last. Just as much as your vote counts, so does your contribution, no matter the amount. Let's makre sure this rolling stone gathers no moss! BARACK 08!

I turned 37 Feb 5th! Just sent another $50 bucks to Barack! Woo Hoo!
Obama is about change and YES HE WILL buck the establishment, even after they debrief him on why our hands are tied in Iraq, as the cynics say, because he is about transparency in government and ethics reform, and he will tell us what's going on so we can all decide.
Barack is about giving power and voice to the people. He didn't come from a rich family where he has to maintain the status quo. He comes from regular folks, a single mom, who raised a black baby in the racially charged 60's. They know what it's like to come from the bottom up, and he wants to govern from the bottom up.
And despite all the cynicism, here's something cynics can't take from us:
WE ARE INSPIRED!
And it's been a long time, actually my whole life, since I've been inspired about politics and our nation. We love freedom and want it back. The oil companies had record sales last year, and yet people are being kicked out of their houses, and some can't even pay heat bills. Obama will end the tyranny of oil. And the American people will help him. He will end his war in a responsible way, leaving strike forces to take out terrorist camps that try to set up.
WE ARE INSPIRED!
If Katrina hit under Obama's command, all he'd have to do is send out a mass email and youtube video, and we'd start packing our bags to go rebuild New Orleans, because we believe in him as a leader. There has never been a black president before, so even that will buck the establishment, and he will not take donations from PACs or federal lobbyists. Tonight, the Obama supporters are sending more money. I just send another $50 after I saw Missouri come from behind.
Where will Obama get money for socially responsible programs like Universal health care. All he has to do is send out an email with one of his inspiring speeches and suddenly here comes another 32 million.
Did I mention we are INSPIRED! I've cried so many tears of ecstatic joy this week with my wife watching videos on youtube than I have in the last seven years!
Nothing can stand in the way of this movement.

Local news here are reporting that polling booths don't even have enough ballots...wtf? Ridiculous! And people are also confused and voting for something else like a bill instead of candidate...and independents or non registered voters have to fill out something else in which registered voters don't have to.
It's kind of odd because the national news channels clearly predict that it's too close to call based on their exist polls. But if it's too close to call, then why come back a bit later and announce the winner right away?? My theory is that, the exist poll is correct but the real poll is not because in the real poll, there are people that vote on the wrong things.

California is screwy my fellow sacramentan.
Interesting article in the mercury news here.
Link
In some cases they had to copy so many ballots which won't go through our scantron that election workers are going to have to manually copy them onto real ballots. This was a result of the decline to state independents showing up en masse to vote dem in what would be key locations for obama. Alameda palo alto etc....
I also saw a first on the Sec states website a county with 100% voter turnout(amador) foothils se of sacramento for out of staters. Small county but still that is beyond normal.
Obama's team will hopefully be watching the CA vote over the next day's carefully.
The reported problems favor clinton with what we know of late deciders.
The interesting details for the campaign once the votes are fully tallied will be the difference between absentee ballots and those cast today. That could be a very interesting narrative for the campaign as I expect it will show a much closer race than the end result. Credit to hillary camp they got out the absentee vote when they were high in the polls.
hopefully we'll shave into a 10% margin when all is said and done. I suspect under 5% maybe leading on ballots cast today. ABout 50% of ballots are expected to be absentee but those turned in today could take a long time to tally and would also likely be late deciders.
Obama did what he needed today. Hillary is begging for debates to get airtime and keep obama off the trail and her primary campaign strategy of winning today has been defeated. They can spin it anyway they want but they are losing ground and changing plans while obama is gaining ground and on plan. Rememebr the early debates when hillary wouldn't answer many questions refusing to discuss hypotheticals, those days are past she's begging for airtime and oxygen.
Obama is on track gaining momentum and ground. This was a good day.

Some awesome stats about Barack's decisive wins in 6 of the 7 caucus states (NM still processing):
Total votes (as of 1:28am MST 2/6/08):
Obama 270,483 67.9%
Clinton 123,313 31.0%
Other 1.1%
Not only does Barack perform well in states where caucuses are held, he beat Clinton by greater than 2 to 1!
The DNC needs to appreciate this. Any big name candidate can win in a big state like California. It takes grassroots to win these caucus states. Obama did just that. If he can get this many people out in states (all except Minnesota are "red" states) to caucus, he really can redraw the electoral map in the general election.
And by the way, Obama won Idaho roughly 5 to 1. Why? He had a rally in Boise on Saturday. He cares about Democratic voters in less populous states that other candidates have traditionally overlooked. I think it's safe to say also that Barack single-handedly won Delaware and Connecticut by holding rallies there Sunday and Monday.
The message is clear: those who see Obama in person are ready to stand for change.
Key states coming up this week...Washington (caucus), Nebraska (caucus), Louisiana, Maine (caucus), Virginia, Maryland, DC...
This race is far from over!

The gist is that in a caucus, you get to discuss why you support a particular candidate and get to convince the undecideds to vote for your candidate. In a primary, you just vote, no discussion.
The caucus results show that our supporters are more passionate and have better reasons to support Obama! Name recognition obviously doesn't work as well when put to question...
GO OBAMA!

It's complicated...but basically in a caucus you have to vote publicly with a group of people, at a designated time or time window, and convince others to join you if their candidate does not get at least 15% of the initial vote. Basically, you actually have to stand up in a room of people and let everyone know who you're voting for. (Different states do it different ways.) So, caucus states are generally more dependent on grassroots organization and visibility (look at how Obama won Iowa). That being said, Obama's victories in the caucus states is a clear indicator he has far better grassroots support in states the other candidate(s) don't really seem to care about.
A primary is just a mini general election. It's different state by state...some are closed (Republicans can only vote for Republicans, Dems for Dems, Independents can't vote), semi-open (less restrictions), or open (anyone can vote for anyone). There's a ballot, you go into the voting booth privately, and cast your vote. A primary requires much less grassroots organization...aside from getting out the vote, it's not as much as is needed in caucus states.

Can anyone give me a reason for Edwards not to endorse Obama now?? He can still keep his delegates for himself for now.
Noone counting the Delegates considers all of Edwards' delegates going to Barack. I haven't heard how many delegates went to Edwards or other former candidates tonight?
Edwards cannot endorse Hillary now, because he would be a terrible hypocrite.
Edwards is not likely to get any significant number of delegates the rest of the way, by staying neutral. He "suspended" his campaign, but now it is "dead".
Everyone will forget about Edwards unless he endorses Obama and comes to campaign for him!!
That is his best chance to be Attorney General. He must see to it that Obama wins. Edwards can still help Obama in states like Texas and LA.
I heard that Gore is away now? But the rumor was he would endorse after Feb. 5 if it would help put Obama on top. Although it wasn't convincing, Gore now has an excuse to endorse Obama.

At this point today's vote looks pretty even, but the final count of delegates aren't in yet. Both campaigns could claim victory, but the battle for the nomination is not decisive tonight. It will take another few weeks or more to decide a winner with the outcome of future primaries.
Hopefully California keeps getting closer as votes are counted.
Does anyone know to what extent we'll face an early voting disadvantage to Hillary like we have in California- in the next primaries, if at all?

if you like boxing it was a split decision.
If you like metaphor's hillary clinton is a bucket leaking water and obama is collecting it. He made up massive ground from polls 2-3 weeks ago to today in states across the union.
In the end the state tally was right on target to what I expected although New Mexico is surprising me as did missouri.
No one won or lost today, numerically obama won more states and possibly sometime tomorrow we'll have an accurate delegate count. Strip away superdelegates from that count and you'll see who is winning with the people. Elected Delegates are the real scoreboard. States are just headlines that shape perception.
Clinton's team is winning the headlines which will impact perception. In the end the race will be no clearer tomorrow than it was yesterday. Obama is where he hoped to be in january of 07 and clinton is where she didn't want to be that same january. When you are the underdog and the leader expected to win today and didn't just 60 days ago I'ld say obama is doing fine.
Expect a fun convention IMHO. With our delegate rules I just don't see a clear winner before it as very likely. I alos expect kennedy to help alot with superdelegates. In a change election a battle over delegates at a convention seems somehow appropriate to me. What better way to redefine a party and it's purpose.

First of all: This is not a negative post, just a question since the newspapers over here seem not to be able to agree on the night's results, at all.
Were the results good or bad compared to what this campaign had hoped for? From what I've been able to read, Hillary picked up more delegates and took home some major states, true? What chance does Obama have to get the delegates he needs before the convention? Still possible? Not to hard if he gets votes? A tough job?
I'm just wondering, since one of the newspapers here has a version of "Hillary Won" on the first netpage, and the other one has a version of "This is war"...

Hi There in Sweden! The short answer to your question is that most of our media is saying it was a tie. In Chicago, I woke up to headlines much like you mentioned: "This is War" or "History on Hold".
Our campaign manager feels we did as well or better than we hoped we would, see details below:
FIRST: NUMBER OF STATES
Barack won 14, Hillary won 8. This is a huge help to Barack for the perception that he is electable in November, and I believe this number is well ahead of how many states we thought we could win. The states we won were from north, south, east & west - it's a great showing that he can build a diverse coalition in our country.
SECOND: CAUCUS STATES
7 states were caucuses (where people have to show up and declare/debate how they wish to vote in public). Barack WON ALL OF THESE. This is widely used as a measure of how deeply committed/energized people are about their candidate, because unless you love your candidate, the last thing most people want to do is spend hours arguing their case with their neighbors. Barack always does so much better than Hillary in caucuses. Another sign to our party that he will generate more excitement in November.
THIRD: SIZE OF STATES
Hillary did win some of the bigger states like New York (but that is her home state, and Barack still made a big dent) and California (but she only won there by 10%). And, we expected that she would do this. The key good news for us is that even in staes she won, we still counted many votes and delegates, and that is what we wanted. As recent as a few weeks ago we were losing by a lot in the bigger states, but everywhere Barack went, people began to hear him and like him, so we closed the gap significatly.
FOURTH: DELEGATES
Right now it is Hillary 825, Barack 732. Most, but not all delegates are factored in yet, so we could still increase this number. Bottom line, our campaign was hoping to stay with 100 delegates of Hillary and we did.
Now that there are fewer states left to tackle, Barack is expected to have the advantage because he can connect more personally with the voters in each state. This always produces more votes for Barack :-)

I am so proud to be part of this coalition of amazing people. Tonight, let's face it, we won. Hillary can try to duplicate us, she can try a lot of things, but she doesn't understand what it's like to be a grassroots activist or working pay check to pay check like I know too many of us are but are too proud to admit.
We are the largest grassroots activist community in America. I will not stop. I will spend my entire summer with this until Senator Obama IS in the white house. And I'm not wealthy! I have many months before I'm out of college, but after that, his time is mine. It will be after the primaries, but I know in my heart he will have the nomination. Even today, the DNC guy was speaking like Obama. And exit polls showed people were most interested in change. This is not a contest anymore... it's an educational campaign telling people not about the candidates as much as what there lives could look like if they make smart choices for themselves.
That is the message I feel so strongly needs to be communicated.
For all those who haven't donated, please DO. It will make a statement to the new that THIS IS A MOVEMENT as well as a political campaign. They will try to spin it in the morning, but no one can spin numbers! If Barack has the money to go around country and meet folks, he's gold. Pass the donation info on to your friends and family and tell them to do the same. You'd be amazed at how much family is still tight knit! Even over that taboo subject of "politics."
But this summer, I had my mom giving melons and aubergines out free to homeless people because she was here and saw my passion for the work I do with Food Not Bombs every week, feeding six years straight homeless people without any rules for them to receive very healthy vegan food cooked in my own kitchen that we feed our own family.
People listen to those they love.
This is good.
Good night :)

Obama has been called lazy, aloof, professorial and naive. He must now close the deal:
In the next 7 days we must press our case 354 pledged delegates at stake.
With 225-129 of them we can claim front-runner status
With 200-154 of them we can claim victory
With anything between 190-185 we enter an unpredictable and very difficult path.

We can swing states like Kansas if we get people engaged and if we get them registered and to the polls.
Seriously, in my little county was have 1500 Republicans, 490 democrats, and over 500 unaffiliated.
If I could get 200 registered college students, and get more people registered in the county we could turn the tides in the next election.

Advice:
REFINE YOUR BATTLE-CRY: Although energizing, single-line blog entries, having ONLY a mere "Fired Up Ready To GO!" and/or O-B-A-M-A! single-letter spellout is not sounding sophisticated to the doubters , co-workers who dismiss this as a "naive"youth movement. Come up with some issue-related slogan, rather than (or in addition to) than a blind Cesar-Chavez hijacked "Yes, we can!"---Yes we can do what?Be more specific-people are listening!
SPIN TOMORROW! If this campaign lets HC get ANY momentum from tonite, it has truly let us all down in this grassroots effort. MAke these points REPEATEDLY and IMMEDIATELY to all media- Media, as biased as it is, is still paying free attention to us. A week from now, it may not, as she'll be the frontrunner-GET IT???::
(1)13/8 states , (2)MONEY, MOMENTUM, and MESSAGE (HC has no 32million$$ that's why she wants to debate and get free publicity!), (3)More delegates were earned, superdelegates notwithstanding, (4) Homestates NY won by 12%, IL 32% (5) Despite absentee ballot, narrow CA margin (6)landslide victories in red states of Idaho, etc. (7) victory in Northeast HC backyard-Connecticut (8)Despite SBowl-hungover Giants fans/youth vote unable to make it to the polls, narrow margin in Jersey (9)HC's final finale (classic blue states of NY and CA) is behind us (10)Bellweather Missouri victory establishes BO electability, (11)Future schedule will allow more one-on-one with Latinos and women (this never happened in CA) (12) Kennedy/Kerry endorsements WERE successful in MASS-gap narrowed 20% to 5%.
DONT RELAX! So disappointed with BO's lack of visibility in Cali. Mchelle+Oprah were FANTASTIC, but even Romney flew to Cali at the 11th hour. Look, I know its hard, but your kids, wife, and SBowl in IL can wait another day.
ATTACK INEXPERIENCE RUMORS: Note that HC is also a Junior Senator! Now that BO has earned post-feb5 NATIONAL EXPOSURE on par with HC, time to start adding SPECIFICS ON ISSUES IN SPEECHES-UNLIKE the previous INPIRATIONAL RHETORIC. THis will erase notion of "inexperience"-For instance, TECHNICAL examples on GREENING the economy, -DONT JUST SAY THE USUSAL "WE'll invest in more WIND, SOLAR, AND BIODIESEL"-Get Specific-talk to engineers!!!Way more convincing otherwise! Also, use Dinero's quote in debate/interview" Well, if experience is the most important issue, then Dick CHeney would be our next President!" Also, HC's "35" years of experience is a lost argument to McCain 35 years ago getting tortured as a POW in VNam while Billary attended law school!

I think we're fine where we are at the moment. Barack is making up ground on Clinton and fast. I was hoping to win Cali, but at least we got MO.
The news media is putting a strange spin on this. I think we had hoped Obama would have done a bit better, but if you look at what people were saying a few weeks ago, Obama did better than expected.
The longer this goes on, the better it is for Obama. There aren't anymore STs and once people in those other states hear Obama speak, he'll bring them in as well.
I am concerned about the DNC trying to seat MI and FL delegates, because that would only help one candidate and all the candidates pledged not to go to FL, but of course Hillary did. I wouldn't mind if the DNC gave neutral delegates to these states after all the primaries and caucuses are over, but Obama did not campaign in those states because of the earlier DNC ruling about the delegates.
I hope the campaign has some big endorsements lined up for this week. I know the Kennedy family endorsements did not pan out as well as hoped for, but every endorsement for Obama is an endorsment against the Clintons.
I think at this point Edwards has to commit. I could see Gore waiting because he is a NPP winner, so to get involved in a back-and-forth campaign like this, is not the best for his reputation. On the other hand, he's going to have to bite the bullet at some point.
I really hope we gain momentum over the next few days and we don't get blind-sided by the DNC.

Very good points.
(My "advice" from an earlier response.)
"Going forward, it is my humble opinion that Senator Obama needs to make some personal appearances (himself) in some of the bigger CA cities and have a bigger presence in Cali. Maybe host a couple of town hall meetings and rent out venues that folks w/out transportation can get to. Quite a few people (including Obama supporters here) remarked on his lack of show in the State before tonight (while other candidates made it a point to come out). Can’t blame the man though – can’t be everywhere!"
Also his campaign might want to reach out to more Latino and Asian Americans.
My best friend and Latino sistah thinks he needs to spell out who he is and what he's about. He should also get local Hispanic and Asian leaders involved (and not just political leaders).

Obama won Connecticut thanks to the endorsements. He was 30% behind in Mass before, he gained about 20% in the state and lots of delegates! Hillary has more votes in California thanks to the early voting, but Obama won the Feb. 5th voters, including lots of Latinos-- again, this was helped by Ted Kennedy! The CNN Exit poll has Hillary winning women by 25% and trailing men by 1% (net 14% for Hillary).

Exit polls were accurate elsewhere.
This doesn't make any sense unless Obama won the "mail-in" vote?
Also, what evidence that Obama did better among Hispanics on Feb. 5 in CA?

After reading your information, I have to say I was wrong. I forgot how far behind we were in some of those states and that early voting in CA did not help.
I hope the next week pans out well for us in the caucus and primary states.
It will take a while to win, but the good thing is that we don't have to worry about covering 20+ states on one day.
I am convinced that a lot of the "smaller" states went Obama because he visited those states. That was a great strategy.

It was obvious that Obama supporters exceeded the others (yes, there were some Edwards' supporters) three to one which coincided with Kansas results. Three hours later I was driving away in the sleet and snow. One of the caucus sits in our area drew so many people that the caucus was held outside! What a picture.... Yes, Obama brought us here. Goodness knows where we would have been in California with all the early voting and latino vote had it not been for their bravery. They helped to put us in the position to split the delegate count in California instead of lose a ton of delegates their.
Thank You Kennedy's!!! Thank You Barackans!!!
Tonight we only wanted to be within 100 delegates of the Clinton's and we more than did that!

Won in Missouri 49% to 48%
Leading in Arizona 49% to 48%
California now narrowed to 10% (Hill52% - Barack 42%) with 83% of the vote in.
No one can claim the White House by just winning the bluest of the blue states. With Hillary as the nominee, the Republicans will keep the White House.
Delegates count:
Super Tuesday Total: Barack 562, Hill 582
Grand Total: Barack 732, Hill 825. Difference 76 in favor of Hill.
There is everything to play for. Now the fun part begins. PLEASE PLEASE CONTRIBUTE!

It's important that we let them know that we can't support a party that allows cheating to gain the nomination. This may be a critical issue to getting Barack nominated.

College and degree educated people like us. The young and smart love us. How do we get the so called 'DUMB'(literally) people to our cause? Sure I know by not calling them 'dumb'. But seriously how do we do this?
I have been on blogs where people STILL talk about
- not placing his hand over his heart during the pledge of allegiance when in reality it was during the singing of the National anthem; for which it is not mandatory to place ones hand over the heart.
- About 15 millions not being covered in our health care plan, when in reality Hillary cannot even say how she will enforce her mandate.Fines? payroll deductions? And what if people do not pay the fines?
- believes anything written by liberal academics in their NYT blogs attacking both our health care and social security plans. We have as yet not fully countered these effectively!
- About Barack being weak on pro choice despite the evidence to the contrary.
- That Barack is a Moslem even though it has been shouted from the mountain top that he is a Christian who attends The United Church of Christ on the South side of Chicago.
I could just go on and on. These so called 'dumb' Hillary supporters without a college degree and who tend to be poor earning less than $55,000 are very dogged, hug web blog comment forums and you can reason till you are blue in the face and still will not sway them! Are we being too intellectual in our arguments even at the blog level and not effectively debunking the deliberate and misleading statements that play on the ignorance of the of these people?
Lets seriously discuss this even if for a few hours so we can come up with a plan on how to go out there and pierce that armour of the deliberate misinformation and indoctrination of the 'dumb' and ignorant.

Thank you to everyone who got out there and worked for Obama. It proves for sure that the volunteer work matters hugely. Here in Connecticut, Clinton was a shoe-in to win. I'm convinced that the volunteers out canvassing and phone banking, and the rally in Hartford made the difference. And I really really believe that the one on one that each of us has with an undecided voter can really make a difference. I was able to convince my entire family, who were ardent and passionate Clinton supporters, to support Obama, and they have taken that message to their friends.
What to do next? Keep up the phone banking and canvassing and keep the momentum going. Put up yard signs and bumper stickers. Which btw, peel off. I had a hard time convincing people to put the bumper stickers on because they think they can't get them off after the election. (Put it on your rear windshield)
And most importantly, keep the pressure on the DNC and your elected officials to make sure the Michigan and Florida delegates aren't counted, and to get the endorsements from as many high profile people as possible.
And don't forget to send thank you e-mails to those who do.
And donate.
Keep the momentum going. Just because our state may be decided, there's still a way to go.
GO OBAMA!!!

I would like to tell you that as a republican leaning voter in SC, I was very impressed when on our primary day, a volunteer from Obama's campaign came to knock on my door. I have never had that happen in any election before.
It was a true testament to who those supporting Obama really are--regular everyday Americans.
I truly like Obama's message of unity and bringing our country together. I hope he wins the nomination for the democrats, otherwise, we will have more of the same.

Hi Jesse,
I was one of the 1000s who swamped South Carolina to get-out-the-vote for Obama and must say how touched I am by your words. My first time ever campaigning for anyone. I never really knew whether our individual efforts made any difference in people's minds. I only knew that I was tired of the political bickerings in Washington over the past 2 decades and wanted our country to forge ahead by coalescing on issues and making compromises on both sides of the partylines. I believe Obama is the best person to heal the divide and move us forward. Whether you're an Obama supporter or not, I thank you for your comment.

We had a record primary turnout in St Louis & St Louis County... & 70% + for Obama

For Those of you who were so easily depressed and who are born again Christians ought to be ashamed of yourselves!!! You let the world you SEE and HEAR on TV become your REALITY. Remember the scripture.... " Hebrews 11:
1 -"Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen"?
THE SUBSTANCE of things HOPED for!!! EVIDENCE of things UNSEEN!!" You're COMPLETELY forgetting the REALITY that the spiritual world (even though UNSEEN) is REAL and even MORE powerful than the one we "SEE!"
Get a grip!! MAN and WOMAN UP!! And Don't forget to keep praying and doing for this righteous man otherwise our country just may not survive into another generation!!

I agree wholeheartedly with the Sam Graham-Felsen review of Barack Obama's accomplishments on Super Tuesday.
He and his supporters did a fantastic job! To be neck-and-neck with Hillary (and her network) at this point is phenomenal.
As stated below:
"When you start measuring somebody, measure him right... Make sure you done taken into account what hills and valleys he come through before he got to wherever he is." Lorraine Hansberry
Tuesday's accomplishments should be an abject lesson for those who doubt Barack's ability to bring large numbers of people (white, black, rich, poor, etc.) together for a worthy cause.
Hillary is on the ropes - thus her challenge to Barack to engage in more debates with the goal of distracting him, limiting the time he has to contact voters, trotting out some nonsense that she hopes to discredit him with, picking a fight that will put him in a bad light, or perhaps getting some free publicity.
On second thought, she probably doesn't need any free publicity since I can't imagine that she is that short on funds - contrary to what has been announced.

It is not over guys. Keep up the hard work and let's see this to the end.

Remember, we have MONEY, MOMENTUM, and MESSAGE...
HC is broke-her grand finale of classic NY/CA blue state is behind us all, yet(gasp!)this race is still dead even! Let her over-anticipated campaign rot on its unfunded vines and make way for the Obama Tsunami, coming to a district near you......to finish off the debris. DO NOT give in and agree to weekly debates, as she has no more $$ and needs the free publicity. TELL our campaign higher-ups to not schedule this. What they need to do instead is spin yesterday as follows:
(1)13/8 states , (2)MONEY, MOMENTUM, and MESSAGE,(3)More delegates were earned, superdelegates notwithstanding, (4) Homestates NY won by 12%, IL 32% (5) Despite absentee ballot, narrow CA margin (6)Landslide victories in red states of Idaho,Kansas, Alaska, etc. (7) Victory in Clinton's Northeast backyard-Connecticut (8)Despite SBowl-hungover Giants fans/youth vote unable to make it to the polls, narrow margin in Jersey (9)Clinton's already "blown her load"(NY/CA)and is now broke (10)Victory in bellweather Missouri establishes electability of BO, (11)With easier future schedule, more time to spend one-on-one with Latinos and women (this never was allowed to happen in CA) (12) Kennedy/Kerry endorsements WERE very successful in MASS-gap narrowed from 20% to 5%.(13) BO re_unified the Grateful Dead in SF!!!!Just think what he'll do to unify this country!

I have been hearing about the sign shortages. Maybe people can collect some Obama campaign signs, stickers from some of the states that have already voted and mail them to Obama offices in big states that will be voting in the upcoming months, like Pennsylvania (April), Texas(March), and North Carolina (May). The campaign offices are listed by state on this website. I realize they may be of sentimental (and historical) value, but this is what grassroots is all about. Plus... it's good for the environment.

Good point about the super delegates. I think there are at least a few who are privately not happy that they sided with Hillary too early. I think I read that one SD on the east coast switched from Hill to Obama.
I really hope the Clinton camp is low on cash. I also think that a lot of her support is from people who feel they owe it to her, but they don't really believe in her.

Super Delegates can change their affiliation as late as the convention. They were saying on Morning Joe that Bill Clinton was hated by the Democratic Congress because he always lied to them and that a huge amount of them do not want the Clinton's back. Also, they might want to see what their constituents want. So get the list of SD and write them and tell them you want CHANGE, real change.
