I just received a Clinton mailer, 8 1/2 x 11 1/2 which attacks Obama for voting present on oneside and on the other side lists all of the "present" votes and highlights certain votes attempting to undermine his ability to make decisions.
I scanned it in and tried to copy and paste the pdf, but it wouldn't work. If anyone has an idea as to how I can link it in here, let me know.
My wife and I voted for Obama.

Of course. First thing this morning with my husband. Does anyone know of a site where I can see the daily tracking poll? I am interested in what is going on in New Jersey and Missouri yesterday which may be an indication of what we would see today. The three day polls are averages but the daily measurements are most telling.

Hello all,
I just voted in the Overseas primary! GOBAMA!
If you are looking for a way to celebrate your vote (or if you are an independent living in a state with a closed primary, are someone who voted in the early contests or are someone who hasn't got a chance to speak up yet) and are looking for a way to help build momentum to the big contests coming up after Super Tuesday check this out:
Below is a link to the With One Voice fundraising campaign for Senator Obama. It was started in honor of the voter in South Carolina who gave this movement $3.01 and a bible verse. She, like most of us, could not afford to max out her financial contribution. However, the spirit of this movement is not a few people doing a lot, it's many people doing everything they can.
The goal is to echo our friend 10,000 times over and raise $30,100. So far we've raised over $3600 from over 115 people.
Please check it out, give what you can and pass the link on.

Thanks!

In addition, another few states will be too close to call.

Ted Rowlands, reporting for CNN, writes: "People hoping to stay awake long enough Tuesday to see who won California's primary might have a long night. Returns from California's primary could be delayed because of paper ballots. Polls close in California at 8 p.m. PT, 11 p.m. on the East Coast. Even those who think they might awaken Wednesday to see results of the Democratic primary might still be waiting."
They are expecting 3 million absentee ballots turned in, which means two things:
1. Returns will be late
2. Absentee will tend to benefit Hillary because of her early leads in the polls.
Don't get overly excited about exit polls from California because they won't include absentee voter info.
Be patient.

First off all I want to thank senator Obama for doing such a great job in the election primary. He is a man of high integrity and very intelligent .I can feel it deep down in my hearth. The common I am about to make is profound and potentially big for all race especially among young African-American.
My point is this. Let’s shot two birds in one stone.
1.First, All the African-American should cast their vote on Obama for the sake of our children higher potential education. As you know because of the way the system was brought up, most of the children might thing only a white man can be a president. Obama winning can help more children to realize not only a black person can be president, but a good incentive that may pushes them to be doctor, engineer, philosopher, astronaut, etc…whatever prestigious and eminent potential they want to achieve. And Obama has all the credential to be a president compare to previous presidential black candidate and the entire current presidential candidate. I am not going to say that it wont be another Obama again, but let’s us realize this might be the one time opportunity for us.
2.Second at the same time we will have the first black lady in the white house. She is also very smart.
Therefore, we should all vote for barrackobama if you want change.

I, too, am from Detroit...but I beg to differ!
Vote for Barack Obama, not because he's Black, but because he is the BEST Candidate for ALL of America.
Following your logic, you might as well vote for Hillary because she's a woman...as a matter of fact, that is what she's counting on.
Neither reason is enough to vote for someone.
Barack Obama is the BEST candidate, period.
I remember when Dr. Mae Jemison was the first Black Woman on the Space Shuttle. Yes, I was so excited and proud; but even more so because she was so qualified.
Credentials FIRST.
Then all the other reasons.

My husband and I are raising two wonderful sons and I can tell you that we are their first role models. They already know that they can do and be whatever they wish in this life with diligence and determination. They are already doing it. They are great students and great kids all around. Our parents taught us the same and we succeeded.
I certainly believe it's our job as parents to instill greatness and confidence within our kids---doesn't matter what race that child is. Our boys don't just admire black people for their accomplishments. There are white people and other races of people they admire as well for a variety of reasons. I'm proud to say that.

I sent emails, I have been blogging, I have been voting in every survey you all asked us to vote in. I joined You tube, myspace, and I do not how many other sites so I could help Barack. I voted two weeks ago in subzero weather here in Chicago, for Barack Obama.
Today, I stood in the cold and rain for over 2hrs, holding my homemade sign to let others know I believe they should vote for Barack.
I did all these things because he is the most qualified, the most articulate, honest, trustworthy, capable, determined, broad minded, and he is a uniter. I did not vote for him because of the color of his skin.
You should beable to give a better answer as to why he was your choice.

you know I read this and here is what I have to say..
I am not going to tell you whether i am male, female, black, white, asian, hispanic, straight or gay. I will tell you that I am an AMERICAN and I voted for the man who inspired me to vote for the first time since 1992. I voted for a man that made feel that my voice does matter, that my campaign contributions do matter, and all my fellow AMERICANS are in this together. I have seen what it meant to look through the color of skin (or sexual orientation, if you will) to look at the judgement of character. The americans involved in this movement have an enormous amount of character, and I am never been so proud to be an American (ok..9/11 may take first place, by a small amount). Here is to the movement, and here is to being an AMERICAN.
Go Bama!

My husband and I voted and my stepson - it was his first time. On the way out, a white young man was waking in, my son, who is black, said, "Obama right?" And he said, "Yes, sir!" and smiled. It was a snapshot moment of a campaign that has unified and transcended the old conventional thinking about identity politics.

I wonder how it feels to see your own name on the ballot to be nominated for President of the United States of America?
Barack deserves every ounce of what he must have been feeling this afternoon when he cast his ballot.
And isn't it great that so many said a man named "Obama" could never become president... and now thousands (have we reached a million yet) of people have been chanting his name all over the country at the top of their lungs. That name must sounds pretty darn good to him when he hears 20,000 people shouting it out again and again.

While most of us have worked for Obama and we think he'll be the best president ever by far I would ask you to consider the following before going so far as to say that you not vote for the alternative
A McCain presidency would be worse than a Huckabee or a Romney. While many of us love that McCain gives the finger to hate-mongering republicans please consider the reason:
McCain is more stubborn and more ideological than Bush. McCain does not understand or respect the constitution. He believes that generals should be left to decide what happens in Iraq. Combined with his nationalistic stubbornness I'm really afraid of what a McCain presidency will mean for the world.
There can be no worse outcome for the world than a McCain/Huckabee ticket:
1. Nationalism
2. Changing the constitution to fit God and appointing theocratic judges
Despite McCain's work on ethics and his commendable lack of pork requests a McCain/Huckabee situation in the white house coupled with a deteriorating economy might permanently change the US. Bush might have been an incompetent puppet, but I fear what a competent nationalistic, "no retreat and no surrender" theocratic government will mean for the world.
Go Obama, this time it has to be different!

Susan Eisenhower on MSNBC. She is an excellent spokesperson for Barack. The topic was foreign policy: McCain age/experience vs Obama youth. She made the very salient point of how Barack is the perfect age right now to bridge the rather large generational gap that is facing this country.
Think about it, we've all seen the crowds that Barack is drawing and they're ALL ages. He really is the one that can speak to all and connect to all.

If we lose 0-50 delegates, we win;
If we lose 50-100 delegates, even;
If we lose 100-150 delegate, not a good day;
If we lose over 150 delegates, we lose.
If we win even 1 delegate, a victory is destined.
Agree?

Actually, I disgree for two reasons. First, I am not sure I agree with the premise that today is about winning or losing. Unless, HRC blows us away by hundreds of delegates and can wrap up the nomination fairly quickly after today, I don't think we win or lose, at least not in fact.
Now, how the media spins it is a different story. If we are talking about media spin, I think a two delegate loss or more would be a "loss." But anything less than that is okay, I think. And remember, Obama is ahead among pledged delegates, though not by a lot.
At least people are now talking about delegates rather than votes. That's the name of the game now.

I have to disagree Unknown. There are over 1000 delegates at stake today so figure HRC and Barack are going to nail down 1/3 each. That leaves about 300 or so delegates in play. So if you double your numbers I think that's a bit more accurate. If he looses those 300 or so up for grabs that is going to make the next few months a tough road to hoe. He'd have to basically sweep everything going forward and that just isn't going to happen. I think being down 100 to 200 is tough, but not a lost cause. With states like PA and Ohio still to have primaries in the coming months it's not impossible. CA is the one we have to watch out for tonight. The spin is that it's in play, and possibly going into the Barack column (which would just be improbable) but everyone ignores the head start HRC had. 1/3 of the state is estimated to have already voted prior to today via early voting and you know 60+ % voted for HRC given how strong she was in the polls for MONTHS. That's like a 10-15% popular vote lead to start the day. If Barack looses CA by less than that margin it is actually pretty good, and the more that margin narrows the better. I don't see any way he gets closer than 8 - 10% in CA but that's already a moral victory in the delegate count. We must not loose sight of the battle of perception. I can see a HRC play like GWB on election night 2000, actually it was the next morning if I recall correctly, when he declared himself the victor, before the votes were (never) counted.

You MUST vote, and you MUST help get out the vote.
Only a few hours left. Work until the polls close.

I just talked to my neighbor, a registered Republican, and he told me that he enthusiastically voted for Obama.
Earlier today I spoke with a coworker who is leaning Obama, but is more concerned with the general in November. He seemed somewhat apathetic about voting today, so I talked to him about what a historic day this could turn out to be. I also showed him the LA Times endorsement which says it so much better than I can. He'll be stopping on his way home to vote Obama.
C'mon Missouri!

What a great pic of Barack at the voting booth.
When I voted this morning, it felt so good to mark my ballot next to Barack's name. The private and quiet act of voting is the culmination of all the phone calls, donations, and other involvment with Barack's extraordinary campaign.
We all have worked very hard to get out the vote and to support Barack. The polls had us back by double digits two weeks ago. My "gut feeling" is that today's results will affirm the great strides we have made in a short period of time.
The campaign, thus far, has been extraordinary. There is much more ground to cover between today and the General election. I am convinced that our faith and spirit will win the day.

I can't say I'm proud of my years of sitting on the sidelines. I just never ever thought that what I did or thought, or whether I voted or not would make one da** bit of difference in this country. I felt invisible, and .. powerless.
God bless Sen Obama for putting the power back where the power belongs, with the people. And for gettting me motivated, and making me feel like a PROUD American again.
Today I voted. I've donated every bit I can to the campaign. I'm calling and texting people all day to get them involved. :-)

I wish I could say the same for my Colorado caucus. Everyone I called this morning is supporting Clinton. I've tried to sway a few people, but they won't even engage in the conversation. I have 15 confirmed Obama supporters attending (I live in a very small precinct), so at this point I'm praying for the best.
My only regret is now knowing how involved I could become in this campaign until Saturday. It didn't give me much time to canvas the neighborhood or make the quality of calls I would have liked. Besides, it wasn't until last Wednesday when I saw him in Denver did I feel I could give him 100% of my support.
If by some slim chance we don't wrap this up with delegates tonight, I've made a personal promise to myself to go volunteer in an upcoming state primary or caucus. Thank goodness for vacation roll-over from last year!!
To all the volunteers out there, THANK YOU for making this all possible.

If it had started snowing earlier, that would have been bad for us, especially with the rural vote. But... it's all a part of the plan, I suppose. (o:
Claire is merely lowering expectations. We have been down in Missouri for a long time and just got ahead in this last poll. So, who knows what will happen. No worries, friend.

That's a good question. Clearly, the delegats have to be voted for. I would guess, though, that that's just one less vote for which DELEGATE you want to send to the convention - there would still clearly be a vote FOR Obama. However, I need clarification on this also, incase I get this question. I'm a new NY voter. (I successfully voted for Obama and his delegates.)

Hi,
Barack Obama is the best President without a doubt. However, we can vote for him not just because he is Black but because he is brilliant. Senator Obama - will of course make black youth proud, but Senator Obama will encourage that child in the Appalanchian Mountains to achieve more, he will also be a bright light to encourage the children in rural areas to overachieve as well as the kids in the trailer park and the projects.
Senator Obama - has never said I'm running to help some people, or some children, - he is running to change the mindset that has held this nation back.
I am proud of him and what he endeavors to do to make our country great.
Change is coming - it is a change where Americans talk differently, walk differently and work differently for our country.
thank you,

This was the DNC's decision not Sen. Obama's or any other candidate's disenfranchisement. All 3 candidates agreed, signed and gave their word to comply. So all 3 of them 'disenfranchised'.
What's clear is the Clinton signature is as honorable as the one on that piece of paper Neville Chamberlain brought back from Nazi Germany.

Thank you Tracy for posting this. I too saw Howard Dean's appearance on television and was very concerned.
I called the number you posted and left a message. My son voted today. For the first time. He is twenty years old and I believe represents a lot of new voters.
I feel that Howard Dean should speak out plainly and fairly about the process and considerations for solving the problems of the Michigan and Florida primaries.
Let us not make early cynics of this process. The democratic party, no doubt, will be using Senator Obama's momentum for the party for their own gains. The smart ticket would suggest that we don't want to put our party in a vulnerable position. People are really fed up, and the people at the top just don't get it.

Candidates need to keep their word. Obama should bring it up at every debate.

I just voted in the Global Democratic Primary in London. There was a huge turnout, the line wrapped around the corner. A large group of Obama supporters were outside performing various chants. The whole operation was extremely well-organized. Great care was taken to verify individual's identity. ( Around three checks and you needed your passport.) However, unlike voting in the states, there was a party atmosphere in the voting room. After you completed your ballot, you had to line up to place your ballot in one of the boxes on the stage. You had the choice of four boxes: Obama, Edwards,..etc, Hillary and Anonymous. (I'm not sure why there was a box for Edward, Kucinich(sp),etc but there were some bollots in them.) If you did not want anyone to know who you voted for, you could place your ballot in 'anonymous.' But most people voted publically. Each time came on the stage and place a ballot in Obama's box, people in the crowd on the floor shouted "Fired up', or 'Yeah!".
The boxes were transparent so I can say with certaintly that Obama was winning. His box was filled to the brim, Hillary's box was half to three quarters full. Most of the people in the building room were Obama supporters (I based this on the badges, shirts they were wearing or their reactions.) There were loads of children there enjoying themselves including my own. Some were helping as volunteers. (Lots of wine and beer.)
Prediction: Obama will win London.

I had jury duty this morning across the street from San Francisco City Hall and as I was riding the bus down Van Ness Ave we passed two Obama supporters with signs in the median and one for Hillary. Both Obama signs generated approving "toot toot's" from the passing traffic. I didn't hear any when we passed the Hillary sign. I think that Obama will carry SF and the Bay Area by a wide margin. I don't know about down south, but I'm hopeful.

Last year, I had no idea who to support. I heard the 2004 speech (like many of you) and was impressed. But, for so many reasons, I wasn't sold on Barack.
Then I read "The Audacity of Hope." To say that book was life-changing may sound cliche but it truly was. The problems I saw in government and society were validated. The power to dream for a different world vs. sulk in the "reality" was granted.
I knew then that this man could and should lead this world in a different direction! In October, I attended a volunteer meeting here in the Atlanta area. It was in a mostly-Black area and that's what I expected to see. The room was full and, while diverse, mostly-White. I was amazed by the differences we had. When a TEENAGER got up to lead the meeting, I cried! I realized this was a movement and, while hard, possible!
Over the past few months, I have given money, time and energy canvassing, typing, calling folks and just getting the word out. Every step of the way, I have had my 8-year-old daughter. We went door-to-door in Greenwood, SC, met Ms. Childs and caught Oprah and Barack. Today, she insisted on wearing her Obama shirt to school and has been ferverntly trying to pursuade her classmates ;) This has been such a great journey and I'd do it a million times over.
There is NO politician that can touch what Barack is offering us. No one. I want to thank him for running, everyone for volunteering and definitely for voting! Thank you for allowing me to believe again. I mean that from the bottom of my heart. I have never posted on here before, but I was moved to tears voting today and reading these posts reaffirmed that YES WE CAN!!

Just got back from the primary in London for Democrats Abroad. It was really festive. There was some (mostly) good-natured chanting from both the Obama and Clinton teams, which looked about even. The Obama box looked slightly more stuffed than the Clinton one though :). It is an open vote, so you mark your choice on piece of paper and then publicly march to the candidate's box up on a stage and stick it in. I, like many other Obama supporters, couldn't help but punch the air after posting my vote! The turnout was so high that the Town Hall meeting had to be canceled in order to process all the voters. There were a lot of media as well: TV crews and reporters from WSJ and IHT.
This is the first time I've voted in a primary (I'm 30), donated to a campaign or bothered to talk to anyone in my family about who I'm voting for and why. Feels fantastic. It feels overwhelmingly wonderful to be an American again. Thanks to all those Obama supporters who are getting the word out.

I just voted at my local polling location and saw many talking about their vote for Obama!
He's the best candidate and I know he won't disappoint the nation. True leaders always rise up when we need them most!
Go Obama!

Daphne--Just can't wait to cast my vote for Barack!!!!
Feb 5th 2008 at 5:59 pm EST
Prediction: Obama will win London (UK)

Since I am a full-time college student with little time to go to my polling place, I voted via absentee ballot. I sent in my ballot about two weeks ago, and, of course, I voted for Obama. Frankly, I was ecstatic to fill out my ballot because, even though this is the second time I have been eligible to vote in a presidential primary, this is the first time I feel I was able to vote for someone I truly believe can change this country for the better.

Hey,
Check this out!!
Fox is anti-gay, anti -everything that's free in this land....They have Hannity and his gang and Hillary wants a say-anything, do-anything debate.
Obama has a chance to say NO and give take a stand against this atrocity!!
After the results are out, he should do that.

Not necessarily; Bill Clinton has probably had a NEGATIVE impact on HRC's chances; that's why the media talked about reigning him in.

I am proud to have been Democratic voter number 000003 at my precinct today!
AND, I got confirmation today that the young man I tried to convince yesterday not to feel dejected about the process, actually did go out and vote for Obama today.
AND, I talked a former Edwards supporter who was leaning heavily to Hillary a week ago, into voting for Barack today.
AND, I talked to yet another "undecided" person (who the heck is still undecided on ELECTION day?!), who I think I was able to convince to vote for Barack, basically by giving him concrete answers to his concerns that his vote would be "wasted" if Obama couldn't take the rest of the country.
AND, I talked a woman who works downstairs from me into spending my 30 minute lunch break with me, standing on the busy corner of where the street I work intersects with Torrance Boulevard, waving Obama '08 signs!
I will not quit until this is over!!!

The first vote to be cast at Keenburg School in Carter Co., Tenn was mine, voting for Obama. I was awake early today, so went ahead to the polling place and waited for them to open so I could vote. I wish him well, and want to vote for him again in November. By the way, there were two other votes for him there, my daughter and my son in law. We all live together here in Carter County (to save expenses, it's much less expensive than maintaining two households since I am a single parent), with my three grandchildren.

I live in Long Island, NY. My family and my girlfriend voted for the obvious choice, Obama. It's seems he is a lot more visible here than Hillary. I've been all around the island and the city doing whatever during these weeks leading up to today and I have yet to see a Hillary sign during this whole race. Even though this is her "home" state, I think it will be close.

YEAH!! Love reading how all of you voted today.
We voted, er, should I say "stood up" for Barack Obama a month ago here in Iowa. I love knowing that our state gave him his first win.
Emailed a couple of my college friends last nite who's states vote today, and I know for sure one is already voting for Obama. He has been 'her man' since the start! We're hometown friends and went to college together. Smart girl!
As for taking children to your polling place - way to go! Actions speak so much louder than words. I remember so well when my mother took me and my younger sister to the high school where she voted...I was so intrigued by the curtain and all the knobs (way back when) for my mom to pull or whatever she did. I couldn't wait to be able to cast my first vote. Last night my 15 year old son (while were watching the Boston rally on cspan) said he wished he could vote. It would be so exciting. I almost cried...this says it all.
We still have to work to do. Keep it going...
YES WE CAN!!!
