This is an interesting read folks. I don't agree with palm readers but I still find it an interesting post. Fired up and ready to go.

...........A Las Vegas-based palm reader, Mari Rose, has predicted that Barack Obama's bid for the White House this year will be successful.

Rose was reportedly shown photographs of both Democrat presidential frontrunners -- Hillary Clinton and Obama -- and said that the latter would win hands down.

According to The Mirror, Mari first studied Hillary's hand, and immediately said: "This person is scary. Whoever it is, she's under a great deal of stress - and has been for some time. She is a determined person. A good speaker, but someone who didn't come to her career in the traditional way. She will live until she is 78 years old, but she may have health issues quite soon. Above all, her iron will is overwhelming."

On Obama's hand, she said: "This man is passionate, but he sees things in a very fundamental way - right or wrong, black or white.There is a dark side to him, but he keeps it under control. He's warmer than the other person and far less scary. His life-line suggests he'll live until he is mid-70, but there's no guarantee of that. Over all, he is a very interesting person."

But when asked who would emerge the winner in a contest between the two, Mari said: "The man - though it will be a hard-won battle."

She was surprised when we revealed her subjects' identities, saying: "Wow, I didn't see that coming. But I'm sticking to my guns." But Hillary proved that even if Mari is right, she's not going down without a fight. ...

Today, I am filled with many reminders of the possibilities and actualities of our American dream. Also, I am ever thankful because Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., worked so gallantly for all of us. As a matter of action on this MLK holiday, I re-read some of his speeches and listened to Obama’s January 20th speech at Ebenezer Baptist Church in Atlanta, GA. With the highest regards, each speech remains heartfelt, powerful, and wise. Some of my thoughts (re: relative to these speeches) are below.

The Birth of a New Nation
“There is a great day ahead. The future is on its side. It’s going now through the wilderness. But the Promised Land is ahead.” The statement speaks volumes to me, as an African American, as a woman, as the 1st person in my family to graduate from college, and as someone who has had her share of ups and downs, just like any American has had. I mention the word American, because I find great comfort in the fact that we are connected, rich or poor, Native or Asian American, woman or man, physically or mentally challenged. We are ONE; a diverse, deep, and destined people, who with unique clarity have a historic opportunity to vote for a 2008 Presidential Candidate named Barack Obama. We have the power to exercise our representation.

Give Us the Ballot
“In this juncture of our nation's history, there is an urgent need for dedicated and courageous leadership. If we are to solve the problems ahead and make racial justice a reality, this leadership must be fourfold.” Barack Obama has asked each of us to be a leader; and I say this, because he has placed himself on the line to lead over and over again. He has emphasized (greatly) our importance and competency to lead in our communities, our homes, and in our own hearts. He trusts us, and we can trust him. For through him, we have the audacity to hope, and through him, we have experience, integrity, intellect, maturity, and a focus to lead. Yes, through him, and because of Dr. King, we have the courage to change America fittingly. Our courage is always needed today, tomorrow, and in future (i.e., South Carolina, Florida, Super Tuesday, November 2008). Yet in addition to courage, remember, we need strategy, unity, and perseverance...and most importantly, we need YOU.

I've had enough of Bill Clinton beating up Obama, seizing every opportunity to take a shot at him, mischaracterizing his words and record. Not dignified for a former President - but when was Bill Clinton ever dignified.
I think it is high time that Barack started taking it to Hill via Bill. Something like this should come into his stump speech:

" Sometimes it get's a little confusing remembering who I'm running against these days - you know I mean which Clinton is running for president - they're both out there attacking me so much its hard to keep it straight whose saying what about me.

Bill's been out there a lot lately - arguing with reporters, defending his time in office, saying my candidacy is a fairly tale - sometimes I kinda forget he's the former president and not a candidate himself again. And honestly it makes me kinda wonder whose gonna speak for the administration if Hillary wins. Some say you' re buying two presidents for the price of one - but if you ask me its more like the price of confusion.

And all this negative campaigning by Bill has me thinking about the past - about our history, about what our country has faced in the past few decades. I think about Bush's dad - you know he took us to war in the middle east too - but at least he had the sense to have an exit strategy before we got bogged down in a civil war in Iraq.

Then Bill got elected and then Bush junior and you know where that has gotten us - stuck in Iraq, on the cusp of a recession, with middle class folks struggling to make ends meet.

And now Bill is back out there again - certainly acting like the candidate, wants another shot at the White House, although this time as first man - he's beating me up, he and Senator Clinton are Washington experts running a textbook Washington campaign. And all this repetition, all this recent history - Bush, Clinton, Bush, Clinton - one war in Iraq and then another one - middle class families still struggling to get by - it makes me wonder about all these so-called experienced candidates and where they've gotten us - because it certainly doesn't feel like they've gotten us very far.

Maybe you know the answer.
When we post a comment on our personal page here at BO.ocm, or when we write on our own blog, we have a choice to post it to different groups.
Does our blog automatically get posted to the blog we were reading at the time, ie., BO's regular blog page?
Or do we have to copy and paste it?
I think I wrote my first one and somehow it showed up in the blog comments I was reading, which was fine, but another time I had to copy and paste and go back and forth.Do you understand what I mean?
Can you answer my question?

As an African American, I am pleading that we move away from making a differentiation on race. It does more harm than good.

The Theory of Joha Hanson being AA, does not appear accurate. He was descent of endentured servants who came to this country from England.

His picture is on Wikipedia, He looks pretty White to me.

More importantly, what is the relevance of all this. We are looking for a President, one that is real,honest, trustworthy, compassionate, but strong when necessary. We that have in Barack, let's focus on those themes rather than his race. BTW, Barack is BI-RACIAL, all of us are in his bloodlines. Let not pigeon hole him, itis a MEDIA trap and diversionary tactic from the real issues. The only people winning in this contest is the Republicans which now have tons of ammunition for the general election regardless of who wins.

Well, some facts are disputed, although he definitely was one of that group of lawmakers. But I don't think there is any evidence that he was a Moor. His forbears were from England. It would be very cool if he was indeed a black Moor, but it's doubtful. There's more info on his at: Link .

The whole event was very moving. I thought his sermon (speech) was spot on and fit the occasion - referencing the beginning of the struggle when noone thought it possible to make change. I still hear it over and over - nothing will change, DC is too entrenched. Well, as a doer I know from my own life that the only way changes occur is if people work and work in spite of the knowledge that it might not work. Lord knows, nothing WILL change if we do nothing!!

Beautiful - he lays out how our hopes dovetail together. That is not vague, but inspired. And how when the pieces do come together the walls come down. But the pieces have to line up from how I change what I do for my kids up to how the federal government funds schools, both in harmony. The grand problems only yield to solutions that are both systemic and in our attitude and action. A seamless web of action on many levels. It's taken me a while to get him. I hope we can get past the sound bite in the US to understand the approach to governing Mr. Obama offers.

For the first time in my life, I'm going to do something REAL on MLK day. I'm going to join a bunch of Obama supporters outside the Boston Convention Ctr. where the MLK day prayer breakfast is and hand out literature and stand up for our man. I heard Billary speak yesterday at the church in Harlem.

She once again, as she did in her book, said "That she heard MLK in 1963 and it transformed her life."

But she was a Goldwater Girl in 1964...as she said, "Through & Through."

Goldwater was against civil rights at the time and he opposed LBJ in 1964; the same year LBJ signed the Civil Rights Bill.

Not saying she is racist or anything like that, I just would like someone in the media to ask her about this apparent hypocracy.

I think the Clintons are pure opportunists and will say anything to anybody to get what they want.

They never speak truth so you can never believe what they say.

Who knows what Hillary was thinking in '63 and'64. All we have to go by is her association with Goldwater as a Goldwater girl. That, to me, says civil rights and MLK were not in her heart. Did she work against civil rights and MLK? Who knows?

What I do know is that you can't trust Bill and Hillary Clinton and you cannot believe anything Bill and Hillary Clinton say.

They don't speak with honesty and passion. They only speak with a purpose - a goal to achieve something.

Yes, Larry I have wondered about this as well. I actually read her autobiography and when I heard snippets from her speech in Harlem this morning I thought the same thing. If she had been so transformed in 63-why did she go door to door for Goldwater in 64 when he was opposed to civil rights?

Did you know that in the state of Arkansas today they are celebrating the Martin Luther King Holiday and General Robert E. Lee Day (the commanding officer of the Confederate army)?

This is from the New York Times concerning the MLK Holiday in the state of Arkansas:

"In 1983, lawmakers voted to recognize King Day as an official state holiday, but required state employees to choose which two holidays they wanted off -- either King's birthday on Jan. 15, Lee's birthday on Jan. 19 or the employee's birthday.

During the next regular legislative session in 1985, they voted to combine King and Lee's holiday commemorations for the third Monday in January. Employees got to keep their birthdays as a holiday."

Does anybody know who the First Lady of Arkansas was at this time and what her position on this was?

If you have time, please do read it. But if not, the bottom line of the article is:
1) The culinary union didn't 'buck' the vote; the union people who supported Hillary were from other unions
2) Only 2% of the culinary workers union actually turned out.
3) "Clinton knew the lawsuit would never succeed based on canons of law, but, rather, it was a media stunt, a show to lull the Obama camp into thinking it had the at-large caucuses sewn up."
4) The rift this whole caucus lawsuit drama created between Latinos and Blacks in the union (a generalization) was really worrisome--and doesn't bode well for the party later on.
5) The divisiveness that keeps growing is a great danger to the Democratic candidate who ends up with the nomination. We need to do something about it.

And with that I say...reach out to your local Hillary supporter...with graciousness and calmness. We cannot afford to be enemies, no matter how frustrating or dishonest they seem to be.

That's why they make totally sensationalistic headlines (like Barack merely saying (politely, I might add) that Bill should be accountable for what he says--gets the headline: "Obama RIPS Clinton! Obama BLASTS Clinton!" Ridiculous!).

The bad thing about the story Bill Clinton told about culinary union voter suppression is that it could do the Barack campaign damage whether it is believed or not. If it is believed, it looks like Barack support is based on shady characters. If it is not believed, supporters are on alert they may get slandered for endorsing Obama.

I believe the speech Obama gave at church yesterday helps to counter the second option, as it reminds us what the civil rights workers when through in the 1950's and 1960's; but organizations looking at the bottom line may now shy away from endorsement.

Also, although the negatives of Clinton are a motive for many of us Obama supporters, including me, we do need to focus on the positive of Obama, and let our confidence convince the undecided.

I have been a disenfranchised voter in the past because I thought the process was too corrupt for my vote to make a difference.

Hope is needed for change, and we need to spread that hope to others.

This year, for the first time, expatriate Democrats can cast their ballots on the Internet in a presidential primary for people living outside the United States.

Democrats Abroad, an official branch of the party representing overseas voters, will hold its first global presidential preference primary from Feb. 5 to 12, with ex-pats selecting the candidate of their choice by Internet as well as fax, mail and in-person at polling places in more than 100 countries.

Democrats Abroad is particularly proud of the online voting option — which provides a new alternative to the usual process of voting from overseas, a system made difficult by complicated voter registration paperwork, early deadlines and unreliable foreign mail service.

"The online system is incredibly secure: That was one of our biggest goals," said Lindsey Reynolds, executive director of Democrats Abroad. "And it does allow access to folks who ordinarily wouldn't get to participate."

U.S. citizens wanting to vote online must join Democrats Abroad before Feb. 1 and indicate their preference to vote by Internet instead of in the local primaries wherever they last lived in the United States. They must promise not to vote twice for president, but can still participate in non-presidential local elections.

Members get a personal identification number from Everyone Counts Inc., the San Diego-based company running the online election. They can then use the number to log in and cast their ballots.

Their votes will be represented at the August Democratic National Convention by 22 delegates, who according to party rules get half a vote each for a total of 11. That's more than U.S. territories get, but fewer than the least populous states, Wyoming and Alaska, which get 18 delegate votes each.

It was basically reminding everyone of the key players in Monica-gate and Bill's famous "I did not..." statement.

That was right after Senator Obama stated that Bill is making non-factual statements!

The piece also said that people will be reminded about what they will get with Bill back in the White House!

When they aired this, my husband and I looked at each other like "what's the point of this?" It was basically just a "look back" at Clinton's women. They showed all the famous clips, showed where they are now, and ended the segment by saying that Monica can't get a job. Interesting...

We’ve long grown used to candidates’ cherry-picking each other’s records to score points in a campaign. But the new Congressional ethics law, and the role Senator Barack Obama played in passing it, have been belittled in troubling ways that are worth noting.Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton voted for the ethics measure, but has lately suggested that it was neither a landmark change nor particularly controversial. Wrong on both counts.
No ethics law is perfect, and much depends on the vigor with which the changes are enforced. But there was a big cultural shift in the legislation’s ban on gifts, meals and travel paid for by lobbyists, and provisions requiring greater disclosure of lawmakers’ pet projects and making it harder for former lawmakers to capitalize on their Capitol Hill connections.
The measure ultimately passed the Senate by a lopsided 83-to-14 vote, hardly surprising because few lawmakers want to go on record against cleaning up Congress, especially in the aftermath of the Jack Abramoff scandal. The hard part was assembling and passing a strong package of rules against intense resistance within Congress and from lobbyists.
With Senator Russ Feingold, Democrat of Wisconsin, Mr. Obama played a central role in this effort. Forcing fellow members of Congress to disclose the names of lobbyists who bundle campaign donations is not the sort of thing that endears you to your colleagues.
At a debate before the New Hampshire primary, Charles Gibson, the news anchor, and former Senator John Edwards poked fun at the fact that the ban on lobbyists’ buying meals does not prevent lobbyists from providing food and drinks to lawmakers at stand-up receptions. Mrs. Clinton cited that comment approvingly last week on “Meet the Press.” As they all surely know, there is a big difference between attending a crowded reception and pressing a cause at intimate sit-down meals.
Mocking the ethics law simply fuels a cynicism that can only make future ethics battles harder.

Bill and Hillary are ruining our party and our chance to take back the White House. It's unreal to watch the lengths that these two will go.

I don't think the DNC understands how disturbed many dems are by what they're seeing. Many of us have called and written letters.

The party leadership is kidding itself if they think we will be one big happy family when this ends. Not after the way the Clintons have conducted their campaign. It won't happen. It really won't.

Bill has made it crystal clear that he doesn't care what he has to do or say to win. His primary concern is winning now. He'll worry about looking like a statesman in January 2009 IF he gets there.

But he won't get there because I believe there are enough of us determined to ensure that he doesn't get there.

It's not good enough. The best warning is for Ted Kennedy to endorse Obama and stump for him, countering Bill's every attack so that Barack can stay above the fray.

Think about these:

Obama supporters are madly LOYAL. But what about undecideds? If Hillary is your default candidate, you’re not going to switch to Obama because he’s nice; if you like Obama, you’re not going to drop him because he decides to draw tough distinctions. This is a Democratic primary and he's running against a former Democratic presidential couple. Simply DEFENDING against attacks JUST DOESN’T CUT IT!

If he doesn't give undecided a reason to not chose the default choice, Bill and Hillary, it's just a dream!
