Today's Indianapolis stop on the Register for Change bus tour included a guest appearance by actor and supporter Kal Penn.
Before speaking to the crowd at the tour stop, Penn stopped by the Indianapolis Campaign for Change office, and mingled with staff and volunteers, talking about how he got involved with the efforts to elect Barack Obama.
"I got involved just like most of you did, by filling out the online form," said Penn. "I was a volunteer before I was a surrogate."
He continued the theme of volunteering when he joined the bus at a local farmer's market, encouraging listeners to get involved and register voters. He also told the story of "a man in a cowboy hat and boots" who walked into an Obama office three days before the Iowa caucuses:
"He told me I should pull out a dictionary, and look up the definition of a politician, and the definition of a statesman. He said that for the first time, he felt like he had found a statesman. ... I hope that all of you know how important this election is, and I hope that each of you look up that definition."

If you feel that this moment is as important as Kal does, find a voter registration event near you or plan your own.
