The Imminent Danger of Racial Profiling (Disguised as Polling)

The media has been heavily over-playing race and gender issues throughout the campaign – pitting hispanics vs blacks vs whites, men vs women.
As we move to the general election, this will only get worse – as we’ll have Obama vs McCain – or to sell more papers, the black candidate vs the white candidate. Gender will have dropped to the wayside.
So this is how it works – a group of morons are dispatched to conduct an ‘exit poll’. They then identify the people they’re interviewing based on their race and gender. How the press can excuse this profiling is beyond me – but the bigotry and hypocrisy of this practice has gone unquestioned.
The press, quite irresponsibly in my opinion, is pushing the issue as hard as they possibly can. I’ve already seen headlines – “Can a black man win the South?”
It’s been quite a long time since ANY democrat has won the South.
As an independent, I’m still waiting on the primaries to end and for the parties to introduce their platforms. And in the end, as with anything else in my life, race will play no part in my decision.
Racial profiling by pollsters, racial profiling reinforced by the main stream media – all running full steam ahead, unchecked and with no shame…
So when did racial profiling suddenly become politically correct? And why are we allowing it to continue?
And if you think it’s all just academic – imagine the repercussions of whites and blacks being directly pitted against each other, throughout the South, in November.
If we were all high-minded individuals, the continued (and seemingly endless) social segregation of the South wouldn’t even exist.
But you can’t theorize that because it shouldn’t exist, it doesn’t – nor theorize that the repercussions of this media inflamed race-baiting doesn’t stand the potential of being highly explosive.
And if and when that happens, it will be a little too late.
Hope and unity are the path to the future. But we can’t ignore the reality of the present.
This unabated bigotry should be called out for what it is now, before it’s too late.
The intent of polling is primarily to influence voters. What exactly is the intent of racial profiling?
My hope for this election is to finally have an election focused on the issues – and I don’t see how the racially profiled polling of blacks, hispanics, whites, asians, men, and women has a DAMN thing to do with who we should choose to best move our country forward.
But I can very well see how it can be effectively used to distract voters from the issues and turn people against one another.

You have identified something latently lurking behind the media reporting in this campaign. Indeed I think the height of the issue went by in a subtle moment when Larry King put a pointed question to Michelle Obama that hinted as "have you considered the risks of your husband getting shot"... is that something he would need to "hint at Bill Clinton" if Bill were on the Larry King Live show?
The issues of race, religion, alliances, capitalist vs socialist-communist, etc... run very deep in the USA. It is evident from outside the USA just how deep.
This election the race issues are "blocking out the policy issue" as you have correctly identified. The papers are using it and will likely continue to do so.
However to the outside world where the vast majority of people are "not white skinned", each time the race issue is raised it only serves to pin the USA down further with regard to its international standing and reputation.
What the US media has inadvertantly done is cause McCain more difficulty in negotiating at the UN and in other foreign policy matters as a result.
Similarly Barack's comment that he would strike into Pakistan sovereign territory to pursue terrorsts serves to weaken his political standing in the world.
The world sees that the US Government undertook the most major racial profiling and facist actions against Muslims and people of Arabian origin since 2001 (and before but less overtly). Every time something like the Rezko case comes up, it highlights how the US has become consumed in its paranoia, akin to the "Commies are coming" days of McCarthy only this time it's chasing after some "Phantom Menace" as an excuse to wage war and gain assets against which to back the nations ever increasing debts.
It seems no matter which candidate, real deep seated change in US foreign policy is a long, long way away.
End the war on terror and the world "might" believe that the change is real but it will probably take many years of educating US citizens "on the whole" to be more tolerant of others before people as non-prejudiced as yourself are the "vast" majority, rather than just 51% of the US electorate (if that).
Racial profiling behind Rezko charges? (Arab background)
Racial profiling in relation "terror suspects"... the US media is just following it's leaders.
Barack run War On Terror=No Change

The only conclusion I've been able to come to about the constant negative race comments by the media which has been going on for many, many years is that is the only way they have to exert some kind of control over peoples actions and beliefs even though not true, they keep printing and saying white people are racists after so many years people tend believe it, even white people and thier propaganda machine works well I used to date a Native American woman and she was jumping up and pounding on the table saying that republicans are for abortion, only because republican "bad" democrat "good" because in her cultural background abortion is not a good thing, now I am not saying all Natives think like that, just her upbringing. But thats how awfull it is. And that is why there was outrage from Obama suporters
when the media tried their crap in N.C. it didn't work. They have been using this against republicans for more than 20 years but nobody said anything until it was used against their guy. The mainstream media wants Clinton in office so they can keep dividing people and by that exerting some kind of control over the people but it is going to fall apart on them and the American people will gain control over themselves again.
