Well heavens to betsy - did y'all hear that Barack Obama feller is BLACK!?! My goodness gracious alive!

I hosted the first Obama fundraiser in my area - and following the demise of the Clintons, was happily awaiting a lively debate on the issues.

Instead, Obama opts out of public financing (guess I can't get my donation back now), has so far refused to commit to any debates - and without the Clintons around to play the race card, he's tossed it out on the table himself. Not exactly an ace in the hole - unless you're gunning for the "everyone's a victim" Clintonian approach to politics.

Sorry, but I'm not leaving Obama. He left me.

And for all the folks left behind - I suggest you read the quote up top and take the second verse to heart. Just because you can't believe in Obama anymore doesn't mean you can't still believe in yourself.

I thought we'd have a showdown between the old maverick and the new kid in town. And that would have been exciting.

Instead, all we're getting is another rerun of the Prime Time Party Line Pandering Show.

And given I couldn't give a damn about either party, I'll just base my vote again on who's less morally repugnant.

I just can't believe Obama is making it such a tough decision for me.

Please educate me on the importance of how campaigns are funded. I am not sure I am following this correctly.
I was under the impression that the Republican's had a history of "playing with the numbers" and that public funding was outdated, because of misuse. I have been around long enough to see it happen in past elections.

I have seen some minor discrepancies, but no major red alert discrepancies, now that the Clintons bowed out of the race. Senator Obama is inheriting a major score of Republican policies which are murdering the middle class and poor and this country. They cannot afford another indifferent Republican. This has got to be carefully considered in any policy promises made!!!!!!!

Are the candidates trying to do this right? Or are they pulling a fast one on the public?

Well, they're pulling a fast one on the public. That's what politicians do. They screw us over.
Obama had promised to change all that. Then apparently he got so "vetted" by the Clintons that he's flip-flopping on his mantra.
It happens. McCain had a reputation as a maverick - no more. Obama was to be the agent of change - no more.
Now that the nominations are past, they're hardening those old party battle lines, and that's pretty much all she wrote.

And here i thought we were in it to win! So you want Barack to play nice and possibly loose the election to the spinmasters? And since when are the small donations from millions of people not "public financing"?
