Go look up the smog, pollutant filled cities these vehicles are made. Look up the fact that those same countries employee slave labor for pennies. Go look up the fact that those countries are killing their citizens with pollution and toxic waste. Go look up the fact that those countries promote child labor. Go look up the fact that those countries look the other way when it comes to enslaved prostitution and some of them are children. How ironic that your "green" vehicles are nothing more that green lakes and stream teaming with pollution!!!!! American Auto's built in the U.S. have EPA factory standards, minimum wage laws and laws against child labor. HOW IRONIC!!!!!!

You make some good points, Kay.

These cars are made in China by the Chery company - this should be fully disclosed in the post. I wouldn't necessarily object based on the fact that the car is manufactured outside the US, but that it comes to our shores with high environmental cost.

Like concerns regarding lacing our gasoline supply with corn-based ethanol, the total cost (economic and environmental) may exceed the benefits of the end product.

Having said that, we do need to develop this type of product in the US. It can be done better.

Of course, we might have had access to the electric SAAB as part of the GM family, but GM killed it. And our power grid needs shoring up before we start plugging in millions of vehicles overnight. All sources of jobs in the new economy.

Correction-

Chery is Chinese company, but the TIGGO is actually being assembled in Uruguay.

I know you have UAW in your blood, but I think challenging this on the basis of protectionism is short-sighted.

There is a global market in which we can compete successfully going forward - building the 'grid' as well as vehicles.

You are absolutely right. The GM, Chevy Volt will be manufactured in Michigan. The first batteries are going to have to come from China unfortunately. However, a new U.S. battery plant is being built in Ann Arbor as I write right now.

Your right about the electric grid too. We must update it and make it stronger or this electric vehicle driving will not work.

Last point, driving a gas guzzle this very minute does not pollute the environment as much as the production of those so called green vehicles do. And at the cost of human life and global warming. I'm not promoting gas guzzlers by any means, I'm just trying to get a point across.

85% of your "american" vehicle is composed from parts made either in China or other eastern countries.

Addressing the comments her:

regarding permits: we would not GIVE AWAY a vehicle you could not drive on US Streets.

Prostitution, pollution, Child Labor:
am so glad to hear that we have 0% prostitution, pollution and child labor in the US. Please tell me the State that can 100% proof that to me and I move there tomorrow!

Go ahead, wait around for another 1-2 years, then go and buy an "american" priced EV, that was nearly entirely manufactured in China [i.e. Warren Buffets EV] - or wait another few years until GM has wasted YOUR Billions of Tax dollars again, just to declare that they were not able to compete in the market of electric vehicles.

Also: give me ONE phone number or WEBSITE [globally] that gives 50 EV's from their own pocket to you for FREE. And then donates the the AMERICAN communities.

Happy further polluting our AMERICA with gas-guzzlers!

Am already sorry, I thought posting the Ticket-run here would reach people, that actually aimed to walk-the-talk "CHANGE".

5 years from now you can dip in to your taxpayer pocket again and bailout the BIG3 all over again.

Regarding Jobs: since when do you have a problem when an american worker stocks the shelves at Walmart with china products, or thousands of big-rigs drive on our highways [remember 'diesel fuel'] to deliver products to all american stores, you frequent and buy for your daily use?

Well - we have employed 127 people full-time and growing since we started the EV campaign to GIVE 48 lucky American people a free, economical, environment friendly Green Car for free. Making them independent from Fossil Fuel.

And why would we then need our president to nurture foreign relations in the first place, if we wish to exist isolated - and yeah, use our own Texas oil - no imports, no trade - just us - happy with our American pollution.

Don't throw rocks if you are sitting in a glass house.
