If this is the new feeling of having a democratic President soon to be elected connect with the folks and be as transparent as he could be, then, America, this is no longer a vote for a democrat or a republican, this to me now is a vote for a new America. This Nov. 4, I am casting a vote for the person who makes us all feel included not just once in the polls, but everyday, as if we are part of the campaign, self-organizing, watching debates, writing platform ideas, creating events that matter in our neighborhoods, taking initiatives to register new voters, doing these new voters a deed of service by mailing their registration forms for them, scotchtaping the voter registration cards to protect their privacy, going over the forms to make sure they signed them, inviting others to your home to discuss American Values, then, my dear folks and neighbors, we are a new America indeed.
We are a new America that cares about the lives of others, we are a new America that reaches out to schools. Through this campaign, I found a new friend, who lives 200 miles from me, but she reached out to me and sent me rosaries she handcrafted herself. Oh, they were beautiful and she gave me the finest colors I so love: royal blue and copper brown. How would she have known that, I would not even know as i gave her no hint. She offered, I accepted, and now I look forward to seeing her sometime in the fall to speak to the students she teaches. Who says that I have to just serve in Los Angeles? This campaign has gotten me to call my fellow citizens in Texas and I learned so much talking to them, explaining to them the two step primary process in Texas. And now, I cannot wait for our platform meeting to start this Saturday, well, yah, I did convene it, but my excitement is overflowing from this campaign, meeting folks who are equally excited like me. And when my friend asked me last night if I have a forecast about the campaign, I said, " yes, I do, it will be a landslide!! " Why, because before I was a fencesitter, and now I am fully engaged, organizing, and meeting up other organizers, who then were also fencesitters.
The other day, I read my emails and it seems the volunteer count has increased, it is no longer 1,500,000 as was shared before, it is now growing to 2,000,000. Imagine that?
And notice the meetings Senator Barack Obama had with the soldiers, with the heads of states, with the pilots, with the generals -- he showed all of them a full measure of respect, kindness, authenticiy, and empathy -- folks, we are going to be again the moral beacon of hope, as we the citizens on the ground recreate our neighborhoods, caring to serve others, but soon we will have a federal government that will be more connected with its citizens, after President Barack Obama is inaugurated into office. And does this not excite you beyond anything that we will indeed have a new heaven on earth?
Okay, I am not in heaven yet, but I feel so happy and spirited everytime I meet other Obama supporters who are equally happy and spirited volunteering their services for the campaign. Yes, we can!! One voter at a time, and soon, it is a landslide victory! And for us Americans, we will have a government that thinks of making textbook subsidies, of affordable college loans, of affordable housing, of universal health care, of workable roads, potable water systems, more transportation systems, alternative fuels and energy sources, regulatory systems that do not make excuses based on current resource limitations and work for the American people and not the special interests or the select few, and reengineered to actually have no longer a poverty of ambition, but a fullhearted capacity to serve, just like this campaign! We will have no more inbred paradigms of limitations in imaginations and thinking!! And with our expansive thoughts will come inspired actions and service to others. Yes, we can!! Know what, I slept well last night, knowing my next president will make the Middle East safer, will make America safer, as he has started to do already.
Soon, our democratic system will be " el sistema " we will all be so proud of, just like the "el sistema" in Venezuela, growing musicians, recognizing that all their children have music in them, and together, we can all play a symphony of more evolved humanity, of just being loving and good to one another, just like my friend, Christina! Thank you Christina, I hope you sleep well tonight, as i slept well last night, holding the rosary you so lovingly made and gave me!
