My Story: I'm a single mom who voted for you, but is ambivalent about your healthcare plan. That's because the one time I buckled and requested ANY public service (children's health insurance), I was expected to surrender my privacy, and tolerate punitive rules, such as losing three months of coverage when I missed a payment. We've since moved to a new state, and we are uninsured.
Social services without a sense of Real Community are dehumanizing, and no solution. It is critical that community be fostered along with any other plan, whether it is for health, security or the economy.
I voted for you because I believe you have both integrity and principles, and NOT because I agree with your platform.
My Story: I trust you. Do you trust me? I have chosen to homeschool my child. I want to give him the freedom to build on his strengths, to socialize with a broader range of people, and to discover and develop his natural love of learning... And I want him to do it free of state tests, or government intervention.
Please take the time to look outside of popular misconceptions about homeschoolers, and to understand the full range of families who choose to take this kind of responsibility for their children's education.
Mr. Obama, I trust you (mostly). Do you trust me? I have kept myself and my child healthy all these years with natural foods and alternative remedies, steering clear of prescription medication in all but the MOST dire circumstances. I've been mocked and judged, but I remain steadfast in my choices. Will your new health plan protect my freedom to choose what is best for my family?
