The national debt is $9.4 trillion today. http://www.treasurydirect.gov/NP/BPDLogin?application=np Us youngins (+ those at heart) owe 30,000 each, but on what? For crumbling roads, schools, weak dollar, skyrocketing gas, and billions lost in Iraq. Guess how much the national debt was eight years ago? $5.6 trillion.
Woolly mammoth, under W and a Republican controlled congress lead by Sen. McCain, the debt grew by $4 trillion in only eight years!
Will you vote McCain or Obama?
Will you vote for the Senator that's demonstrated his economic acumen by irresponsibly increasing our debt by another $4 trillion, or the Senator we're not so sure of, and maybe that's a good thing this year. :^)

Peng ... I agree with you that the debt has risen and the largest portion of that politically should be laid at the foot of the Republican party. I particularly agree that President Bush is more responsible than any other human being for the troubles we are now in. He let loose a small group of neo-conservatives of the Republican Party in the White House that had no business in charge of our affairs. My simplified explaination of neo-conservatism is that they believe that we are good, we can eliminate the bad remaining on the planet by force. Since the Soviet Union has fallen, that we’re the big kid on the block. Because we’re the big kid, we can do what we want to the bad kids because, well they’re bad “Can’t you see “W” saying that?! Anyway, this notion of preemptive attacks on foreign nations without a declaration of war is a crock. I’m sick of it, I’m sick of him, and I dare say I’ll be happier when he’s gone than most fans of Senator Obama.
But, I think we end our agreement on your blog at that point. Senator McCain did and does not lead congress. First, there’s a house and a senate and neither has ascendancy over the other. In the Senate, Sen McCain did not hold any of the key leadership positions of the Party. He was and is a powerful senator because of his ability to find compromise, and his knowledge of foreign affairs and defense. However, Sen McCain was not leading Congress when W was asleep at the wheel. Since the first part of your logic in the paragraph is flawed, the follow on point is erroneous. Somehow, in less than a few lines, Sen McCain is responsible for $4 trillion of the national debt. It is interesting to watch Senator Obama make his followers believe this. I will not say that Sen McCain is immune to doing the same thing. However, I believe Senator Obama is more prone to its use and by doing so, assumes that the public is:
Ignorant and unable to realize that not all Republicans are poor leaders
Supid enough to follow the logic of Bush = McCain. If Bush = McCain, then Bush = Lincoln … he was a Republican too. I guess he must have stunk too….

Sen McCain bears the responsibility for his vote that allowed the President to abuse his power as Commander in Chief long with 77 other Senators. 29 Democratic Senators voted for the bill 21 Democrats against. So the Democrats also voted their own majority for the bill. Well wouldn’t it be nice if we could throw them all out! Not really, there are many fine Senators in Congress on both sides of the aisle. Collectively, they along with the house abdicated their Constitutional power to declare war and that is forgotten. The founders did not give this power to the President, Congress – all of it shares some blame. Looking back, some of the Democrats that took a stand should be commended for their foresight. Senator Obama’s remarks on his position are well known and I commend him on them. However, although he was an elected official of his state, he was not in a position to have his position make any difference. His opinion at the time, was no more important than mine (which was also to stay out) because he had no ability to influence its outcome. Doing something you’re not sure of and thinking that maybe it is a good idea is analogous to HOPE. People HOPE when they go to vegas. People hope, when they pray. I do not HOPE that my vote will be a good one. I analyze the information presented tome and make the best choice available.
I am sorry that it has taken so long for me to get the next post done. I’ll chip away at it my friend. Thank you for your email. I’ll look at those sites when I get my site a little more complete. Tell Honey hello for Jenny and I. I think like me, therein lies your strength.
