I am Peggy J. Webber from Centralia, Illinois. I am the Precinct Committeeman that shook your hand and told you that you would be our "First Back President," when you came to our Marion County Central Committee B-B-Q and gave a speech campaigning for the U.S. Senate. I still have total faith in your ability and your sincerity in wanting to lead our nation back to a Nation to be admired and looked up to with respect, as well as getting us back on track economically and out ot the Bush war with the Moslem world which he calls a war on Terror. Personally I feel it is all about oil and his vindictive attitude toward Saddam Hussein that has gotten out of hand and spread to the whole Moslem world. But then you are not running against him, that would be a "given."
My oldest son, who is a South West Airlines pilot, a graduate of the Air Force Academy and a retired Lt. Colonel, (showing that he is no slouch,) is a staunch Republican, perhaps because of his financial status. needless to say, we never discuss politics, but the last time I visited his home, he made a remark to me that I think can easily ring true throughout the Republicans. He Said, " You know Mom, I have listened to Obama speeches and observed him and I think he is a Democrat that I can vote for. Believe me that says a "million" words in your favor. If you ever get to the Raleigh N. C. area, I hope he goes to see you and hear you in person, perhaps even get to meet you and shake your hand as I did.
I do have some concerns about how they, meaning the Republicans and some Democrats, are trying to draw you into rhetoric that could be damaging to your campaign.
1. Abortion: I personally hate abortion, but I can live with it as a woman's right but not to the extent they have taken it. I think the Partial Birth Abortion is out and out murder. Any doctor that can deliver a baby breech, and suck it brains out to kill it before it leaves the Mothers womb is violating the oath to save lives they took as a doctor. It has been proven that babies have been born and lived when they have been younger than what the ones that are murdered with Partial birth abortion. As for the very early abortions, sometimes it is better to take the life then, then let the child be go full term and be mistreated, or murdered at the hands of their parents as so many of our children are today. Don't let them drag you into an abortion debate. I lean toward the right to life but, cannot get the stories and pictures of child abuse, torture and murder of unwanted children out of my mind.
2. Hillary: I hate to see you pulled into the old trap of "Men versus Women Candidates". It is not about whether a candidate is woman, man, black, white, Republican or Democrat. It is about ability and past record and how the candidate would address the issues important to the healing of our Nation in all factions. You have great qualifications, you are intelligent and have experience in life and circumstances many of our Americans are experiencing now, you came from modest means. We have homeless, we have starving and we have citizens with health problems that need to be addressed. I think you are the person to work toward healing our Nation. No one can heal all the wounds of our Nation but with the joint effort of the Legislature and the President, we could make a big dent in it.
3: Foreign Trade: This administration has "sold our soul's to the Devil" so to speak with Foreign trade. You cannot pick an item up in our stores that was not made in China. The track record of China on human rights is deplorable and their products are made with next to "Slave Labor" as well as being downright deadly to those who use them. Factories have closed and taken their jobs over seas (mainly India) while our unemployment figures soar. Our car manufacturers have taken factories over seas for the parts to be made, then assemble them in the United States and call them American made. Here in Marion County Illinois, we have one of the highest unemployment rates in our state. Centralia has had three major factories pull out and go over seas. I have been told these companies that take their jobs over seas are not made to pay import fees to bring their products into the United States because they are American owned. If this is true, that is a "Travesty of Justice" against our people. Bush and Cheney may have their financial holdings in Escrow while they are in office but they are making millions off of oil and will benefit from their gains once they are out of office, while our Nation suffers from the oil industry inflation of prices and profits in the billions. It is as bad as insider trading. Bill Clinton also agreed with this Foreign trade system and that is an issue that Hillary should be questioned on. It is a very important issue to our nation.
4 Unemployment: We want to see the true figures on Unemployment. Not just how many jobs were created with all of these fast food restaurants jobs, versus how many are drawing unemployment. We want to know about the ones that fell through the cracks, count the ones that their unemployment ran out and they still do not have jobs and are not being counted. The true figures would be overwhelming. All they have to do is start counting the ones that have been dropped from the unemployment rolls and still do not have employment, it is in the records. If they would calculate the figures we would have a true picture of the state of our nations work force. Name the companies that send their factories over seas, so we know as Americans, what products we can choose to avoid, rather than support a company that pays foreigners a few dollars a day to make an item and then sells it at high prices here in our country
I am sorry this is so long but I just feel you can be so good for our Nation and without playing the "race card" they are trying to draw you into other traps. If you can impress my son (a staunch Republican) and he says you are a man that he can vote for, then I am sure there are millions more out there just like him. Get your true message out and leave the smear campaigns to the likes of John Edwards, let him dig his own hole and pull the dirt in on himself. You don't need to sling dirt, you concentrate on selling yourself and you ideas of healing our nation and point out the real issues that need change and how you will address the true issues.
God Bless and please take care, we have so many "nuts" in our country.

Thank you Peggy, for caring about our nation. Thank you for taking action to change the slimy business as usual in Washington. And thank you for speaking out about how global economic policies greatly effect America's smaller and struggling communities.
Of all the places in the world, it is meaningful to me that Barack chose to be FROM the Heartland.
Each of us Obama supporters stand with you, reminding main stream media, "It's the issues, stupid."
