More than 80 percent of Americans live in metro areas, and the top 100 metro areas generate two-thirds of our jobs. We must invest in our urban communities to bring much-needed change and to ensure that every American who wants to work is prepared to work, able to find a job and earn a good living.
Barack Obama understands the problems facing urban America. As a long-time resident of one of America’s great cities, as a community organizer, and as an elected official, Obama will be a strong advocate for cities – the primary drivers of economic and social change in our country.
Barack Obama will prioritize Urban Policy by creating the first White House Office on Urban Policy to coordinate federal urban initiatives across federal agencies. He will also invest roughly $6.7 billion annually in urban areas on specific initiatives that provide job training, safer communities and affordable housing.
Just one more reason to vote for Barack Obama.
