Kyle Sharp, Editor of the Ohio Country Journal, takes note of Obama's unmatched outreach efforts to rural voters in his latest column, and says the Obama Campaign is "braying loudly" across rural areas of the state. Excerpts:
"Call me crazy, but for the longest time, to me it seems the momentum in this presidential race has been riding squarely on the back of a donkey, and the last thing Republicans should be doing is taking anything for granted. If you do that, you end up like the Ohio State football team that ended up wearing some substantial pie in its eye after taking a supposedly easy win over their little bobcat brothers from Athens for granted. "One thing is for certain. That donkey I mentioned in the previous paragraph, it’s been running rampant across the Ohio countryside for the past month or so, and it’s been braying loudly the whole time."

Sharp noted the efforts of Obama's Ohio Rural Vote Director Doug O'Brien, who is working hard to spread the word about Barack Obama's support for rural Ohioans.
“Sen. Obama has a strong track record of standing up for rural values, and we are reaching out to every corner of the state to make sure that message is heard,” [Rural Vote Director Doug] O’Brien said. “We’re opening offices in towns across rural Ohio — from Defiance to New Lexington to Marietta — to let Ohioans know which presidential candidate supports America’s rural communities and family farms.”
And it's hard to miss the Campaign's "Barns for Obama," which have become a symbol for the enthusiasm for Obama spreading across every corner of the Buckeye State.
Likely the most visible symbol of the jaunting jack … uh, I mean donkey … is plastered all over the side of two Ohio barns, and perhaps more by now. Last month, rural supporters of Obama announced a new barn painting campaign called “Barns for Obama” as an effort to reach out to Ohio’s rural voters (see photo). So far, Obama’s name, campaign logo and slogan “Campaign for Change” has been painted on barns in Trumbull and Allen counties, with perhaps more in the works. Barns for Obama combines Ohio’s history of painted barns — from the old Mail Pouch Barns to the Bicentennial Barns in every county — with the enthusiasm for Barack Obama and the Campaign for Change, according to Obama media releases.
